♚x♚x♚xx { Elizabeth xx Lennox }
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The steady rythmic passage of time invaded the room draped in darkness. She felt sick to her stomach...not finding the daylight appealing in the slightest. Her breath rose and fell as she knelt in the center of the floor, candles lit brightly against the gloom, bright enough for vision to be possible, yet dim enough so that the glare would not hurt her eyes. She had been hearing voices the entire day, strange ones to be perfectly honest. She laid her palms flat to the cool flooring of her bedroom, feeling nauseous as she rested there. She had not belonged to this family for too long at all...only a couple of years though she had been upon the earth far longer than she cared to store in memory. It was not so very long ago that she had come across to this home, where she was welcomed despite her heritage and the rumors swirling among the vampiric world. No, Alec and Miranda had taken her in with such kindess and open arms. She had changed her name, been adopted and none had said a thing about her habits and her arrival in the family, only smiled and said their hellos to her and life continued on as it always had she supposed. They had given her a bedroom and welcomed her home, calling her their daughter and treating her as any other part of the family. But perhaps she was not welcomed by all and sometimes she marveled at how the family could function so easily...well they could function perfectly fine when half of them were not starved for blood and the other half were pretending that they did not need in favor of the younger ones. She could hear the complications of the woods that morning and had known that another of her visits might worsen the situation. Besides, she had felt ill that morning and so she continued to feel. But she could not shake the sensations and instead, she had remained upon the floor because it helped the sickness pass quicker...
Tick...Tock...The intervals seemed to come slower now....Her thoughts slowed and ground to a halt as the world when blank around her, the vision she had becoming nothing more than a slate wiped clean, hazy shadows on the horizon. Her hands tightened upon the fabric of her jeans, clutching tightly as she stared blankly ahead, letting time pass by as the vision came with force. It was a day of beauty...something like a summer day in all its glory...but the passage of time was off and there were no detailed clues as to the when of anything. There were two people standing there....silence reigned....and then the vision flitted away as though it had never been, turning to nothing more than smoke and wisps of thought. She gasped onced before she fell silent, her breathing hard, her chest slamming against her ribcage. It was so long since she had fed...since she had rested in a bed rather than catching bits and peices of sleep. So many things had been tense around the family and she felt as though she might lose her mind should she be subjected to much more of her stubborness. She could not find peace in the dark hours of the night or even those in the day for that matter. She leaned back on unsteady legs, rocking back until she got to her feet at long last, balance off already and she had hardly began to walk anywhere. The bed seemed like a feasible option for her to rest for the time being. She shook her head as she sank back onto the bed at long last, her head falling to the down pillow that rested there.
The ticking of the clock was still so loud in her ears. But she had to force herself to be free of the feelings she was experiancing. It did no one any good to have her acting as though she were antisocial and depressed. She should have made an appearance downstairs before the morning was out. But no, she would have rather stayed lounging in bed, building up energy and recovering from the darkness of her own mind, the force of the visions. Each shocked her to her very core to be honest. Sometimes there were some visions that affected her more, related to those that were closest to her. She closed her eyes tightly, screwing her face up into a scrunched expression as she rolled, burying her face in her pillow once more. She could hear the thoughts even from where she had laid in her bed....there was such thoughts of anger and pain running throughout the family that she was a part of now. She couldn't understand the pain of the day when they all held such unburdened hearts. They never could know how they were to die but she knew each and every outcome...knew them and did not know when..but prayed that it would be a long way off in the future...perhaps they would be able to take it easier if they had such kind thoughts to remember....she prayed that they would at least live through the pain of the past months and the hunger. It would be so troublesome and gruesome to die among your starving family as they starved themselves farther to attempt a save of your life. But ah, she was being morbid once more.....since when had she become the gruesome girl who gave no one a smile and remained locked away in her bedroom? Oh yes...when she had been cast from the only home she had ever known up until now.....
Memories were hard...Especially when she thought of the life she had once led....glittering gowns and jewels....exquisite banquests and grand galas of the vampire nobles. It was a beautiful place where she had lived, even if she had been human from her earliest memories. Her father...her dearest father had taken her from the orphanage when she was just a little one...something that could not protect herself and perhaps he intened to drain her dry and use her as nothing more than snack, he did no such thing. He merely signed the papers with a flourish and bundled her inside of his coat, carrying her out to the waiting carriage. He had named her...Ehlena Mariana daughter of Tehm became her title, all that anyone had ever known her by. The elder vampires had frowned upon the inclusion of her...but she was special, her father argued and battled with any who would suggest anything other than treating her as princess in his company and even when he could not be in attendance. He had been so kind to her....no children of his own that he could watch grow before his eyes....only those that he could make and freeze in time...nothing that he regretted but oh, it was nothing like watching for daily changes and marveling at the growth and development of a child that could express such changes.
"Ehlena, daughter mine, you have grown three inches! Astounding! You'll be taller than all the others before long," her father teased, ruffling her long locks of brown hair. She had never noticed the color of his hair, a brilliant blonde that she had found greatly to her liking. "Father...why do you not grow?" the six year old asked, a tilt to her head as she watched him with her grown up eyes as he called them..always searching and probing for answers that she could not get from people simply speaking. He could feel it...the stare as she tried to meld thoughts with him, understand. "You know why daughter mine....I am immortal...as you too will become someday so that we may forever be happy and you will forever have a home." he promised softly, kneeling to her level and pulling her in for a warm hug. She adored her father and he adored her. As the door of the grand foyer pushed open, the little child turned at the sharp gust of wintery air, flakes of cold snow drifting in to be melted away...Her eldest brother, someone so very sweet and immortal, just as her father had made him when he had turned twenty three some time ago...her father longed for a son and had made one before he had ever imagined the idea of adopting. The young man was dressed in traveling attire, chilled to the bone no doubt but down upon his knee he fell as she raced to him, getting lost in the familiar arms of those that kept her the safest.....forever. They would be her family forever, always there to guide and protect her from any that wished her harm. "Brother! You've come home early!!! Did you bring me a gift? " she asked as she pulled away and patted down his coat pockets. His laugh was so very warm as he pushed away her searching hands and almost by magic, he produced a glittering golden locket, strung on a beautiful gold chain. "Look...I've had something written on the inside just in case you ever get scared and miss me and father when we are gone..." he promised, accepting her squeal of joy and hug...
The memory faded slowly as she sat up at long last. There were voices going on around her and she was honeslty curious now. She did not recognize them but she heard the word father tossed around....perhaps it was another of her siblings she had yet to meet. She had expected that she had met them all...but perhaps she needed to greet them. Dressed in a simple gray pull over that hung from her frame, a pair of old jeans, and bare feet, she padded from her room and down the halls, taking her time as she attempted to keep herself upright. She walked quickly now as the voices and thoughts became mixed and she was forced to block out on or the other to understand the situation. There was a thought pattern of a young child...but she smelled no human...only vampires. There was a child that was a vampire....could that even be possible? But she was careful as she traveled down the stairs towards the pair that intrigued her the most...her sibling Rebecca and a man who seemed a little familiar...perhaps she had heard of him from somewhere once upon a time. But she was careful with her powers, watching the scene unfold before her. Her own mind burrowed deep into his own, searching and sifting through thoughts, memories...anything that could help her....She hit so many murders...so much pain, that she yanked back and glanced at the receding figure. She could approach this man...even if he reminded her of the old home....her name had been changed and none would know of her. She had ensured to severe all ties when the time had come....and she could begin anew.
But no, she turned instead to the little girl on Rebecca's lap, the one that could have been Becca's sister...but no, she had caught the thoughts...it was her daughter, preserved in time. The little girl seemed curious about her and approached slowly, eyes watching her and then watching Sevastion fade away. She bolted past Elizabeth, fondly known as Eliza or Lizzie...and she made a dead run towards Sevastion. "No!!! Stay!" she begged, clinging to his leg tightly, obviously demanding that he not move an inch farther. She would not let him go and Eliza watched it all, feeling a sore spot in her chest....she had done the same thing as a child...had begged her brother and her father not to leave her when they did. But the little redhead was nearly in tears as she held onto him, begging that he not leave her alone. She obviously only knew one person in the place....and she was feeling more than isolated. Rebecca made a motion to get her, but Eliza was swifter...and far closer. She reached down and pried the little one from his leg, despite her wailing. "Hush now little one....he will come back...I can hear him thinking how much he will miss you...and you have your mama now..she will care for you. I've been sad like you too before...but I always knew I wouldn't be alone forever..." she cooed, ignoring Sevastion as she calmed the child down...with only a few sniffles here and there. "You can hear all that?" "Mhmm...I can hear it all so I know he's coming back...Aren't you?" she asked as she adressed him for the first time. Catherine seemed appeased for the time being as she was placed to the floor once more and Rebecca thanked Eliza. Catherine trundled back towards Sevastion and tugged his pants. "Did you hear that? She can hear what your thinking! Isn't that really strange? I wanna be able to do it too..." she stated excitedly..Eliza watched in amusement at the little one. She was so very much a sweetheart. But she was not supposed to tell anyone about what she could do...
"There now, she calmed down like an angel." she said with a nod before she turned, feeling her skin prickle almost...She felt like this man was familiar and perhaps she had seen him before somewhere but it was almost as though it were in a human memory...something that faded with time...well certain ones would always remain. "I'm...going out..." she stated softly to Alec, knowing that she needed a breath of fresh air, some time to decompress really. She vanished swiftly, running from the house and out into the cold, a vial of blood in her pocket, now empty as she needed the stregnth. She was breathless and bright eyed as she stopped there at a rather old and twisted tree. It was thrilling...to be able to run so fast and be gone so quickly...She just needed time from thoughts and visions...She leaned back, her head resting there as her eyes turned quickly to the sky above, slipping closed in that moment. But her silence was broken. She could hear the thoughts...not to mention the footsteps of someone approaching her...stealthily almost.....
