Story

Keep Your Friends Close. . .And Your Enemies Closer

tsap →During the great Italian migration of the 1920s, two Italian families from Italy immigrated to the U.S to persue the American dream. These two Italian families, living in complete harmony in an upscale suburb in New Jersey, Cedar Grove. . .only a half our drive outside of the big apple. They were both model Italian families, and were looked up to in the community as an example for other large families. While there were rumors that both families were allied under the laws of the New York mafia they were never proven. Turns out the rumors were true. The Giordano and Maretti families lived in total peace for several years, performing mob work under ground and growing their wealth like no other and the best part was their skills in keeping their work under wraps and away from the public scene of neighbors and most importantly the police.

→Another Italian family that immigrated during the 1920s happened to move into the same area. Also allies with the Maretti and Giordano families. However, they were displeased with the way things were running, they felt as though the mafia could be much more powerful. . .so in their distaste for the way things were handled the Romano family planned a rebelion that would rip the Maretti and Giordano families apart, and make them enemies, therefore pitting both families against eachother and causing extreme chaos. The plan was simple. The Romano family would somehow frame one of the families to make it look like they had attacked one another, causing an all out war. And while the Maretti and Giordano families were busy feuding, the Romano's could grow in power and eventually take over both mobs. The plan ensued and worked beautifully. . . .

present →No more peace exists between the Maretti and Giordano families, the Romano's had tore up their close knit relationship right from the start. While the Romano family had been quite powerful in the mafia playing field, they had been attacked by yet another mob group in the area. In a desperate attempt to save the family, the Romano's moved to Chicago and are currently laying low. . .no further mafia activity takes place within the Romano family. . .at least that anyone knows about. The Giordanos and the Marettis still live in Cedar Grove, and still carry out mafia work, just against one another. Their lives are very violent but one is determined to take over the other. With such violent lives, the children of the Maretti and Giordano families have been rather rough as well. In fact so severe that they lived in a foster home for an entire year, while the parents were under trial for child abuse and such.

→Some of the kids are all about the mafia, while others are totally turned off to it. The ones that are all into shooting people up and the big bucks absolutely hate the opposite family and will do anything to wipe them out. . .they often join the mafia at a young age and start mob missions right away. The kids who have no interest try to stay away from the whole Italian mafia scene, but with their parents constantly breathing down their necks to join, it's often hard to resist. The ones who hate the mafia believe that it has caused all their problems, both physical and emotional, and refust to have any affiliation even if they do join out of pressure due to their family. The kids opposed to the mafia will do anything to put a stop to it, and the only way they see fit to perform this task. . . .is getting things back to the way they were, but much easier said than done.

→[indent]Yes I know, paragraph-ish form ugh! Well too bad so sad. It just looks nicer. . .anyway let's get started. First off if you are a beginner roleplayer that's great! Just not here, this is a literate thread so one paragraph isn't going to cut it, and a one liner CERTAINLY won't cut it. So once again, if you are new to the whole roleplaying thing, please redirect yourself to the back button located at the top of the screen because this is not a place for you. Now that that's taken care of if you are a literate roleplayer (If you do not know what that is, then please leave. . .) I welcome you with open arms. Please feel free to look around and join!

→[indent]Now that we've taken care of who should and shouldn't join it's time to get down to the nitty gritty. I know most of you probably know these rules and are sick of reading them, but if I do not put them somewhere, the gaia cops will be displeased with me. First of all, NO cybering! It's just discusting! Please keep your urges to yourself and timeskip if things get too steamy, please spare the rest of us! However, if things get to the point where I feel as though something should be said, I will let you know and expect you to stop whatever it is that you are doing. We're all mature here so we'll go with a rating of PG 16 (Don't Tell)

→[indent]Secondly NO KILLING! NEVER!! Not even your own character. In addition to that, this also means no ridiculous suicide attempts for example: Sissy lala put the gun to her head and pulled the trigger, but was rushed to the hospital and the doctors saved her! Sorry but NOBODY lives to tell the tale of their failed attempt to kill themselves when it involves a gun and a head.

→[indent]Finally, almost everyone is welcome. I've already specified that beginner roleplayers are not wanted here, not to be mean but this is a literate thread, that's just the way it is. Secondly, treat others the way you want to be treated. I know I sound like an elementary school teacher when I recite the golden rule, but please be nice to one another. . .if you want a smack down drag out then go beat up someone who actually exists. Romance, drama, and violence are encouraged but remember PG 16!! One more thing, it's a roleplay. . .have fun with it!

Posting & Profilesxoxoxoxoxo

→[indent]All profiles are sent to me in a PM (If you do not know what THAT is, then you need to leave as well) if a profile is posted in the 'Profile' thread or 'OOC' thread it will be deleted, no questions asked. Your profile must be accepted before you begin posting, one of us will send you an acceptance letter, DO NOT post until you recieve it. If you do not recieve an acceptance letter or a suggestion on how to fix it, then it's obvious that you were not accepted. . .sorry.

→[indent]Once your profile has been accepted you have five days to begin posting, if you do not begin posting within that time bracket I will re-open your character so I expect to see you posting within that time period, sooner rather than later. In addition to profiles, there's also the reserve which I will elaborate on later, but reserves last 24 hours and 24 hours only. If I do not recieve your profile in that 24 hour time block without some kind of warning, I will also re-open your character.

→[indent]I also want this to be a long term roleplay, so if you join, you're in it for the long run. Don't join, post once or twice, and then quit. . .it's just plane rude and more importantly you've wasted my time. . .and your own, so please if you join. . .stick with it as long as possible. I understand that things come up, but you do need to let me know if you won't be able to post for some reason or another so I don't end up deleting your character because I'm a little pissy if you haven't posted in a few days. By a few days I mean 5. If you do not post in five days without warning, i will begin to bug you until I get a response. . .either that or just delete your character once I get tired of contacting you.

→[indent]In reguards to posting, this is a literate roleplay so I expect to see something ranging from two well developed, seven sentence paragraphs upwards to three or four. By sentences I mean good sentences not inky dinky little ones. Post a one liner and I will come after you in the night and kill you! I understand that writers block happens, but even I can write at least one decent paragraph when I'm completely stumped, so please put forth an effort while posting.

→[indent]Please post often, like I said I want a long term roleplay out of this so please post at least once every two days so things don't just die. . . .give me a warning if you'll be taking a leave of absence and I won't hurt you. DO NOT post in this forum if you have not sent me a reserve, profile, and been accepted on both of those things, I had a terrible time with this in one of my other posts. This is a roleplay NOT a chatterbox.

→[indent]In reguards to general posting technique and the all around look of your post. Pretty posts are definetly better and obviously more attractive, so decorate them as much as you would like with quotes, song lyrics, icons, however no more than 2 full size pictures of your character. . .there is a fine line between just right and too much, be mindful of that please. Also when choosing a posting color, make it exciting and don't pick a boring default one like red or blue, make it 'firebrick' or 'cadetblue'.

→[indent]Other posting techniques such as speech, thoughts and text messages/e-mails are also important. Your posts should be in past tense while not speaking, thinking, or texting. For example it should say: 'He walked across the street and found himself directly in front of the local book store' something like that. When your character is speaking it must be in present tense, first person, in your posting color BOLDED! Thoughts should be in first person, italics, and your posting color. Finally text messages should be in first person, underlined, center aligned, and in your posting color.

Profiles & Reserves

I know that I touched on some profile and reserve information in the official rules, but I figured that the art of perfecting a reserve and profile was worth a seperate post. So here it is. . .enjoy!

Do you have to send me a reserve before a profile? Will the sun kill you if you get too close? Yes, you must send me a reserve before a profile. Why? First, I need it for the 'characters' post. Second, a reserve will give you dibb's on a character you want, but keep in mind reserves don't last forever. Finally. . . .because I said so!

What does a reservation require to be accepted? Not that much actually. You first need to fill out the reservation skeleton accordingly. That means filling in ALL information and filling in your posting color. You also need to fill in the icons correctly, this means using IMG codes from photobucket, NOT MALFORMED URLs. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH how much those DON'T work! The icons MUST be 100x100 or it will throw off the reserve and result in automatic rejection. And finally, you must title the PM correctly.

When sending the reserve please title it: 'I wanna be a mobbster!', once the reserve has been sent, please wait for a private message from me before sending me a profile or anything else, your reserve MUST be accepted before sending me a profile or it will immediately be rejected!

You've recieved the acceptance letter, but you're not done. Yes, the reserve has been accepted, but you're not done. . .the profile is the next step. Before you may being posting, I must accept your profile first. The profile is mainly for decoration purpose and it gives me a feel for what kind of roleplayer you are, and your abilities to play up to a character and your ability to just follow written instructions and get them correct.

For a profile to be accepted, you must fill out ALL the information correctly or I will ask you to fix it, and expect you to do so. Once again, icons must be appropriate size, and NO MALFORMED URLs, PLEASE!! IMG CODES WORK LOVELY. . .USE THEM!! There are both icons and a main picture on your profile. Obviously, the profile is much more detailed than the reserve, and when filling it out I expect you to be creative and have fun with it, creative profiles are much more interesting that typical cookie cutter ones!

Profiles are sent to me via private message. When sending me your profile please title it 'Nobody told me I could die. . .'. Wait for my second acceptance letter before posting. If you do send in your profile before the thread has been officially opened, then you will recieve an acceptance letter first, and then another telling you to begin posting once I've officially opened the thread.

Le Famiglie

→[indent]Two households, different in almost every aspect. One happy and healthy, the other unhappy and full of discord. One house the parents are happily married and the children are happy and well generally speaking. The other house a mother suffers beathings and the stench of alcohol along with her children who blame mob activities for their despair. The only similarities between these households are their wealth, size of family, and their hatred for one another. The happy house belongs to the Maretti family, while the house of despair belongs to the Giordanos.

The Giordano House

→[indent]Abuse and the smell of alcohol is much of what you'll find in the Giordano house. Father is a violent alcoholic who raids the booze cabinet every night after a rough day at work. Once he's had enough things get rough and it's often the poor mother who carrys the burden of beatings and nasty criticisms. However, if any one of his children happen to cross his path. . .they may bear the brunt of the abuse. Despite the hatred from an abusive father, the mother's heart is tender and kind, she loves her children and would do anything for them. The father owns an extremely succesful Italian restaurant, Giordano's Place. There are three of them in Cedar Grove and attract diners of all kinds. The mother stays at home with the kids and takes care of the house. There are also six Giordano children, who absolutely hate the mafia. They believe their father is so violent and abusive because of the organization and would do anything to run away from all the abuse. Due to all the violence in the Giordano house, AND with the Maretti family the Giordano children were taken away from their home and spread across the country to relatives and even foster homes. The Giordano children also blame the Maretti family for their problems, dragging their father deep into mafia activities. However, some believe that an alliance with the Maretti family could possibly bring peace back into both houses.

The Maretti House

→[indent]Love and happiness never ends in this house. The Maretti's are a close knit family and despite the violence around them seem to pull it together and live in complete harmony. The father owns a well known Alfa Romeo dealer ship in the heart of Cedar Grove. While not as impressive as the Ferrari dealer a few blocks down, more people can obviously afford an Alfa Romeo easier than a high performance Ferrari Enzo. As for the mother, she manages Maretti Flourist. One of the best flower shops in the region, it's quite the booming business not to mention the shop is rather picturesque. As for the Maretti children, there are six of them. They are all happy so to speak, some of them adore the mafia while others believe it causes some of their few problems, like occasional hospital visits or family activities being interupted, but much past that the mob doesn't give the Maretti children much trouble. The father on the other hand, deals directly with the mob and is in constant danger along with the family. . . .but this is little known to his wife and children, the biggest danger. . .the Giordano family. . .

Now That Story Time Is Over

→[indent]Alright people let's use some common sense here. Obviously if two characters have the same age that means they are twins! They DO have to be identicle, it is NOW a requirement. Now moving on. This is a real life roleplay so that means NO ANIME, yes they are very pretty and all but during my time as a roleplayer I have come to find that I like the real people threads more than the anime ones. So once again no anime. Now, while making this thread I took this into consideration and I want to put a stop to it before I get a flood of this. NO EMO CHARACTERS! Now Alex Evans is fine, but not everyone can be emo-tastic. There are PLENTY of roleplays for people who want to slice their wrists. Also DO NOT use pictures of yourself, this is one place where you can escape your everyday look! Now characters that I prefer: Models, celebrities, the disney characters, any of those are just fine and people along those lines are perfect, in fact I encourage them. . .and I use them ALL the time. Also keep in mind the age of the character you're applying for. They need to look age appropriate, so if you apply for the 11 year old and your a girl character, they should not have full grown boobs! I have seen few 11 year that are well endowed.

Samantha woke up, from a blurry dream. Her eyes watered as she yawned. Sam gently sat up and looked over at her soundly asleep twin, covers messily placed over her snoozing beauty. Sam through her covers over her, careful not to wake her. She slowly crept to her closet and grabbed her workout clothes and bag. She got dressed quickly and before leaving the messy room, pressed her lips to her younger sister's forehead, and began her regular trip to the gym but hopping to make a stop at the park she used to play, with someone long lost.

"Ha!" The punching bag swayed from the powerful kick delivered by the brunnette. She quickly returned to her stance and began punching it again. Devasted blows rapidly rolling. Her gloved hands perfecting each hit. Finally, Samantha stepped back and ran her hands through her long dark brown hair. Sweat dripping down her face and soaked the back of her graphic, she panted as she grabbed her workout bag. It was a good feeling, perfection. It had a sting of beautiful accomplisment and she loved accomplishment even though it didn't quiet happen to her alot. She looked down at her watch, 12:00pm. She headed out of the gym to a place that faded into a memory if anything.

Samantha put on her sweater and gulped half of her water bottle. She kept an eye out, because when your mixed up in mafia bussiness, expect the unexpected was your way of life, don't trust anyone was rule. Sam flipped another page in her book and settled comfortably in her favorite tree. She could hear children laughing in the distance, at the nerby park. Peace, this was peace. She lifted her head to the leave covered sky with a smile, a soft breeze cooning her eyes shut into a day dream. About...him. No. She told herself, feeling herself unsettle. Soon she would have to go home, which wasn't so bad once you get pass the whole mafia dad thing. Sam shut the book and looked back up at the sky, visualizing his perfect smile once again. How did Juliet and Romeo end Samantha? She asked herself, for both of their sakes, possible scenerios running through her head. Dark brown eyes growing wide with fear. She sighed, feeling heavy with want, a urging tugging want of chance. Her eyes scanned the gently rolling grass as she thought. But decided to look at reality for a second, the cruel fragile world she really lived in...that she would always live in and it came to the thought of...was it worth living if you could never be with your true Romeo. She had Sophia, her very close twin...which remided her that soon she would be worrying of her sister's where'abouts since they were two halves, both diffrent, so they completed each other. It kind of bothered her that her twin wasn't by her side at the moment...the only person who she would ever cry to was her, and she needed some comfort right then.
