It was 5:30 in the morning. Five ******** thirty in the morning and Alex was awake, well mostly awake anyway. This was not an uncommon occurrence these days though. Alex always had a difficult time getting to sleep after a party and usually only got an hour or two of shut eye before the next day decided to rudely start. Some crappy pop music that Alexandria secretly loved started blasting through the iHome sitting on the vanity across the vast room. She hopped out of bed with as much gusto as she could manage, nearly losing her footing and falling flat on her a**. Last night’s party left Alex with a pretty serious headache that was wreaking havoc on her morning. Raising her voice enough so that her brother in the next room over could hear she said “Hey don’t let me drink on school nights okay? As my big brother you should be stopping me.” Okay technically he was older than Alex, by about two minutes which isn’t even all that much time even when talking about twins, but that never stopped him from lording it over her head. Speaking of parties Alex grabbed her iPhone sitting on the side table only a few feet away. 2 new text messages was the first screen she saw. Dragging her finger across the screen to unlock it Alex was pretty sure she knew who they were from.

Message: Well well looks like good boy Levi Lockhart or as you all know him as the Charmer has apparently been faking his image?, why we ask? it could be a devious little plot to gain the ladies trust or it could be for something more sinister, who really knows what goes on in that brain of his, but something’s for sure, a guy that hot can't be that good, well that's all for now,.
A little chuckle escaped her lips as she read over both messages. It was always a joy to get early morning messages from Lady Portland and these two were particularly interesting. Alex made a note of them in her phone before remembering the party. She scrolled through the picture from the night before stopping on the not so flattering picture of the new-ish red head who she didn’t quite know. And her lack of info on the girl scared her. Without much thought Alex attached the picture of the girl into a message to Lady Portland that said:

Message: Hey there sexy. I don’t know who this chick is but she goes to t. Catherine’s and at the party last night she was pushing some strange and maybe dangerous drugs. I’m not sure but she was definitely acting strange.
Once she shut her phone Alex tried to remember what she was thinking about before her gossipy nature kicked in. Her brother…right. He most likely wasn’t up at this ungodly hour which is what Alex preferred anyway. With her parents gone and their house keeper on holiday it was just the two of them alone in their giant mansion. The Vandergelt estate resides on a fifteen acre plot of land overlooking Casco Bay. It isn’t the largest house they own but it is the one they spend most of our year in. Anyway the house that they live in is one of those houses that is just way to formal and grandiose to actually have people living in it. But so was the life of the rich and responsibility less, always full of nothing and excess.
Her morning routine has been the same for as long as she can remember. Wake up, shower, get dresses, and leave for school. Breakfast was a seldom consumed meal for Alex, who prefers coffee over any solid morning food. The coffee machine in the kitchen automatically turned itself on at 6 o’clock and proceeded to make her a very strong cup of coffee which she was able to enjoy once she finished her shower and dressed for school. The cup was still very hot when Alex was finally able to get down to the kitchen with her hair still wrapped in a towel. Alex has never been one to put too much effort or fuss into her hair, she just preferred to allow it to fall where it would using only minimal product to keep it in one place.
Stifling a yawn Alex walked past her brother’s room knocked to make sure he was up before continuing down the grand staircase and into the main entrance. There she quickly jotted down a note that said ‘taking the Lamborghini sucks to suck doesn’t it? Anyway if you need a ride after you get out of school text me’ and grabbed the Lamborghini’s keys hanging on a hook and left note in their place. Outside the spring air had yet to warm up. But that didn’t mean anything in New England. You can never predict what the weather will be like in an hour by what the weather is now. She hopped into the convertible, not having the energy or need to pull up the door. She threw her boots into the passenger seat and started the car before pulling it out of the driveway and turning onto the scenic avenue that she lived on.
The Vandergelt’s estate was only a twenty or thirty minute drive to St. Catherine’s school when other people drove but for Alex it took her only ten our fifteen minutes. She loved to feel the wind in her hair as she drove probably much faster than she should be down the coastal street. The reason for her early wake up and departure from her house is that she has a meeting with her AP Calculus teacher at 6:45. Calc. suddenly became extremely difficult and in order to stay on top of it Alex’s teacher suggested that she come in before school so that she could help her with anything she was having problems with.
Forty five minutes later Alex walked out of her calculus classroom feeling extremely confused and in need of (more ) coffee Alex made her way to the Starbucks just a short walk away from the school. The line was long but that was only for those people who didn’t have enough pull at the school. Without hesitating Alex made her way to the order counter cutting in front of a confused and annoyed looking boy who looked like he was maybe only a freshman or sophomore. Before he could complain Alex turned around so that she was facing the boy and placed her hand behind his neck. “Hey babe I hope you don’t mind if I slip right in here. It’s just I really don’t want to have to wait in line.". The boy was the perfect mixture of shock, confusion, and excitement that told Alex that her ‘seduction’ had worked perfectly. She turned to face the barista to place her order. “Hello, could I please have a double shot of espresso for here, a tall chai tea latte and a grande caramel latte"?
When her drinks arrived on the counter Alex quickly threw back the espresso like she did most shots before grabbing the other drinks and heading out the door and back to school. The boy from earlier tried to get her attention but Alex just walked right past him. She felt almost bad for being mean but then remembered she really didn’t care. The walk back to school took no time and Alex was eager to find someone to annoy. She scanned the parking lot for her next victim as she walked over to the trash can to throw out the first of two drinks. A mischievous smirk appeared on her face when she spotted a guy she only knew by name sitting on the trunk of his car. He would be her man de jour…now if only she could remember his name. Justin… Jacob… Jason…Jay…Jayden that was it. Alex walked confidently over to the boy on his car and hopped up making sure not to flash anyone. She looked at the boy beside her and smiled. "So Jayden how have you been? It has been forever since we last talked. Is your mother doing well?" Of course Alex was pretty sure she had never actually had a conversation with Jayden but it was always fun to see what lengths people will go through to keep for embarrassing themselves.
