sorry for all the questions redface but no one ever tried hoarding halo's at any time?

No worries about the questions. I rather like regaling Gaia's history for you youngsters! You see back when the Halo's first came out, the end of June 2003, no one knew they were getting them. The admins, I believe it was mostly Lanzer or Ling, had an idea to thank everyone who donated to the site to help keep it afloat.

So at the end of June, much to everyone shock, a small little letter arrived in their inventory. Once opened it was a little Halo, the admins way of saying thank you. Everyone thought it was just a one time thing but the admins did it again for July. In early August ( Or perhaps was the end of July.) they officially announced that anyone who donated even a dollar would receive a thank you item. In September they changed it so that you would get an item for every $2.50 you donated.

Thus the point of my story, and answer to your question, is that no one even knew about the Halo's or how to get them until they were already out. As such no one hoarded or even thought about it. Then again back then we donated to the site because it wasn't what it was today and we really did love it; not for a pixel item.

Getting 40K to buy the most expensive item on the site, Fairy Wings, was godlike. Getting 100K was unheard of. Getting 500K was a pipe dream. A mill? Back then? Don't think you could have put the amount of pure that everyone together and got that.

So one of my step-brothers came up from Florida the other day. Brought his wife, two kids, and friend with him. Was cute as hell watching those two kids, ages 10 and 13, playing in what little snow we had. Mostly because they'd never seen snow before.

Then it was kinda.... Odd watching his wife, a full grown woman, make a mini-snowman while in a tank-top and sandals. I mean I understand that it was her first time ever seeing snow too but... She came to New York... In January. Clothes and shoes are kinda required around this time of year.
