i started a guild about a week ago and need some tips on getting members etc my advertisements in the main guild forum aren't working

I would suggest, making a advertisement thread here. Not in the crew Lounge, but in the Gaia Guilds Network. and maybe finding a few Guild to affiliate with. And never invite people unless they ask to be. Because people feel bad saying no, so they join and are not active. But if they find you, they should be active.

I would know the same thing happen to me. ^_^
