Watching the other gaians enjoying the night, she was thinking who would send her a letter.

She sighed. Why had she come? She does fit in with this crowd, but oh, how she wished she did. A silent tear came to her eye as she thought of what her mother had said, "You will never be like them!" She was determined to dance with someone, any someone. She knew no one liked her misshapen dress, or her beaten up glasses that acted as a mask. Biting her lip, she made her way over to an empty chair. Atleast if she couldn't dance with someone, she planed to watch the couples dance, and imagine that she was out there with someone.

Chandler excused himself from his sister. Letting her mindless chatter with her friends not get to his head. His gaze roamed the dancefloor. His legs stirring to get in a waltz. He spotted a fair beauty sitting by herself. She seemed equally ready to jump out of her skin. Putting on a grin, he straightened his tie, and headed towards her. Good intentions in tow. Bowing, with his right arm, hand out stretched he falshed her a smile. "Ma'am, I was watching you from afar. Would you care to dance this waltz with me?"

She gazed into his eyes. Her brain shut off for a second, in shock of what he had said. He wanted to...dance with her? She blushed a dark shade of red. He must be blind, she thought. "Uhh, umm," she mumbled, not being able to find her tongue. She must be in a dream, she concluded. "Yes, please." she said to him quietly. She stood up gently and looked at her feet, unsure of what to do next.

He gently took her hand in his, and led her to the dance floor. Propriety stated that he place his hands on her waist, as her arms went around his neck. His grin held, even as his nose started to itch. Other couples slowly began to join them on the floor. And when there was at least 6 others on the floor, the music started. He swung her around with practiced lessons. "My name is Chandler Ramone Prendregast. Heir to the Manor fortunes. You'll hear people call me Manor. What may I ask, is your name?"
"I did, though!"
Cyan tugged at a dark cord that wound around her neck and disappeared into the folds of her dress. She drew out the carved motif of a dragon, inlaid with amber.
"My lucky necklace, to remind me of home!"

((Okay, disregard last post))
Darius spotted a woman wearing a beautiful blue dress. His eyes caught on her lovely raven hair. Maybe he should ask her to dance.....he didn't want to be slapped again but she didn't look like the kind of woman to slap a man for being polite. So Darius strode up to Virtue and bowed. His hand extended, "May I have this dance ma'am?"

Virtue sighs and nods, rises from her chair and brushing her skirt flat. "Miss please and yes, you certaintly may." Curse her good upbringing. She'd danced for an hour tonight already with the most random of men, some of them really old as well, but she accepted Darius's offer out of sheer polietness, not wanting him to feel bad, especially after that slap he had recieved. Besides, he hadn't said 'I would be honored if your highness would be so gracious to dance with me?' like every man so far had tonight when she hadn't been wearing her mask.

Night walked up to the doors of the house, ignoting the footman completely. Her long gray silk gown rustled with every step. Her lond deep purple hair was pulled partway back, allowing long, curling tendrils to drift across pale shoulders. A bloodred mask framed green eyes rimmed with yellow. Night slipped into the ballroom almost unnoticed.

Quietly, she walked around the edge of the dance floor, toward some chairs she saw. Night sat down, her gown whispering softly as it settled around her.
Leigh walked into the ballroom enamored by the beautiful decorations. She wore a strapless magenta dress that flared out at the bottom. The mask she wore was of the same color with small white and red gems forming an intricate pattern on the side of her eyes.

She looked around the ballroom, as she progressed further. She sat down at and empty table, looking out expectantly.
After a few sips of the punch, Luna sat in a chair, close to someone else. Always awkward at greetings, she awaited the other to be the one to talk. Meanwhile, she gazed at all the couples.

Bah, I'm not missing anything. All they want is a lady friend to show off, to dance with. Nothing will become of these relationships, She thought. However, the oppertunity to dance would uplift Luna's aspects on this.

Darius smiled in relief and pleasure. His hand grasped hers lightly as he lead her out onto the dance floor. Darius lightly layed on hand on her waist while the other still held her hand. "My name is Darius Du'Vorden. But you may call me Dar if you so wish. Might I ask for your name in return?"

She placed her arms aroung his neck, as she had seen many other do. She had never actually danced with anyone, so she let him lead her. She gazed everywhere but his eyes, until he spoke, when she gave him her full attention. She gasped loudly at who he was. She had heard stories about him! He was famous! And he was dancing with her? She could feel her cheeks grow hot again. "I'm Kendra, just Kendra," she stated quietly, hoping only he would hear her. They continued swaying for a couple more minutes.

Sky grinned. "I knew you had some you in there!" She commented. "How much do you want to bet that we'll be alone this whole ball?" She asked smiling. "Hey, do you want to get some punch?"
"I do not know whether I wish to dance with the men here."
Cyan commented, looking disdainful.
"They all seem to enamored with themselves to busy with us."
But at the mention of punch, Cyan grinned.
"Yes!"
She replied.
*Starlight*
Ocean eyes framed with ebony lashes binked slowly behind an elaborate lilac mask, sequined with white. A hand enclosed in white satin hesitantly grasped the banister and a dress made of the same heavy silk as the mask shuffled it's folds to reveal white dance shoes which moved down the grand steps of the ballroom.

Star swallowed hard, she wasn't used to grand balls but her left hand grasped the golden invitation and their could be no mistaking the name upon it. She reached the bottom of the curved stairs and looked around carefully, unsure of what to do next.

After an awkward pause, during which several people impatiently pushed past her, Star sat down on a chair at one of the many empty tables. She sat with her back ruler-straight, implying a good upbringing - one that she had had despite her family not being very wealthy.

Then, someone tapped her shoulder. She turns around and sees a man with a mask over his eyes.
"May I have this dance?" he asks.
Overcome by shock, she nodded her head and took his hand.
He'd begun to think that maybe stating his name was a bad idea. "If you would be so kind. I'd like to change my name. It is now.. Jacob Thomson. You do not know me, nor have you heard of me." He swirled her around, dipping her until the ends of her hair touched the floor. "Kendra is a very pretty name. I doubt you want to delve any deeper into where such a pretty girl like you came from." His hand was itching to slide lower. Only a few inches away from the soft bum he'd caught just glances of. But he held himself in check. This girl knew who he was.
