Welcome to Gaia! ::

Offering online skype + skype lessons for anyone who is interested in learning to crochet. This is for beginners, no cam necessary on your part. If you're interested either reply here or message me. My Skype Username is Grimwyse.
Slow learners welcomed, also if this picks up, I can set times for the crochet lessons(plural, as in more than one, covering different things).
I'll offer advice and answer questions on brands and anything crochet related, or point you in the direction you need.

Here is the Guild, feel free to join. I will be uploading all the skype lessons in case someone misses them.

So. I won a silent auction of various yarns and brands, a few unmarked. I was curious, anyone on here interested in swapping colors?
I have a ton of pinks and other bits. Just putting out feelers if anyone is into yarn swapping.
Of course, fair trades.

Here are some of the things I've made, I don't use patterns, sorry. I simply eye things and go with the flow.

As you can tell I'm more doll oriented, however that doesn't mean I can't show you other stitches :3 and ideas/utility pieces.

...and in large print for blind folk like me...^^

Edit: Btw - am signing up. Have to see if I can find my crochet needles. Hooks.
It might be a good idea to post examples of your creations, it could possibly attract more users. wink

That is a really nice idea and I bet a lot of people are going to appreciate online lessons. I love to crochet, but you never know what cool tip or technique you can pick up from sharing, so I'll likely be a-lurkin' in your thread smile

I've never participated in a yarn swap, but I can see if I have anything in my stash I'd be willing to part with - occasionally I'll pick something up at random and just never know what to do with it.

smile Thanks for the response!
Yea, I have never done a yarn swap either; but I mentioned it on my facebook and figured, why not try it on gaia. If anything, it's a nice interactive experience.
Also I do the same, I see a random color or type I like, I just add it to my stash. :d
I used to crochet when I was a kid. Have you ever crocheted rag rugs?

These things are cute. You could probably sell these crochet plushies if you wanted to (if you already have not). Kind of makes me want to take up crocheting again....as if I don't have enough time-consuming hobbies with only a few hours a week to do them.
Yarn swap would be nice if I could arrange it.

No. I've actually seen some stuff like that and took interest in it when I was a bit younger. Same with used shirts into rugs.
That'd be pretty cool to know, possible present ideas. (You can only make so many toys before people are "Yea, about that, we're adults now" )

Aw, not to mention you have a babe.
I'd say pick it up and take your time with projects, depending on what you really like to crochet. I know sometimes a doll will take me a week or so to finish.
Plus, you can make all sorts of cute animal-themed hats. =] But I know how you feel, I'm trying to do crochet, drawing, get into college and pick up bone carving, of all things.
Good luck to you! Keep me posted.

How do you mean arrange it?
Personally, I figured something along the lines of. "Here is my stash via pictures" conversation between two or more people over the net and just switching PO boxes(unless you don't have one, whatever you feel to keep anon).
If you have a suggestion feel free to share.

It's pretty easy, just tie inch wide strips of cloth and use that to crochet around the edge so the rug is round, just make sure the end of the knots are on the bottom of the rug.

That's pretty clever, was checking out some youtube/google imagines. I might make a crochet group just to do video feeds/skype conferences. I know a lot of people are tihgt on cash and arts are a good hobby, plus they make good gifts.

If you live anywhere near a anime con I would suggest making these slightly more towards the cute side of anime and sell them. I think they would appeal to the Kawaii crowd.

Then again, I always think of how to sell stuff. XD

Love them though, if I had had time I would have loved to check out either a stream or a skype session.
