Your best bet would be to do some comparison shopping. Poke around in local shops and see how much they're charging for a machine. That way, you might find something cheaper--especially if you take the cost of shipping into account.

For a beginner, you should deffinatly buy one of the cheaper models. Something without a whole lot of extra stitches and stuff, you probably won't use them. All you really need is something that does zig-zag stitches, possibly a button-hole maker, and that you find comforatble to use.

I don't recamend buying one off the internet; try to find a machine shop near you, so you can test out the floor models and make sure that you're comfortable with using the machine you purchase. If you buy a machine that is too complicated to use, you probably won't use it a whole lot.

$100USD or more is a good price to look for. Anything cheaper than that might be a little too cheap. (sorry, I don't know the euro conversion)
