Forum Guidelines

Welcome to the textiles and crafts forum, a place to discuss all your artistic persuits not covered by the traditional flat art discussion. As more people join the forum the rules may be added to in order to address certain faux pas committed.

Looking Around
It's a good idea to take a look around the forum first before jumping in so you know what you're in for. It's a good way to see what sort of discussion is going on before starting a new thread. Read our Technical Resource Sticky to find what information we have available.

Getting Help
Some factors may you need to think about when posting for help:
Spelling - If we can't understand what you're saying, it will be very difficult to respond to you.
Duplicate Thread - A previous thread may exist that will tell you what you want to know. It's a good idea to look around furst and make sure your question hasn't already been covered.

Thread Necromancy
So you looked around and found a thread, however it's dated from last month. Do you reply to it? No. Bringing up old topics may bring up old arguments. Plus it confuses people to see a topic they think they already covered. The only exceptions are the pattern review threads which are accessable through the Technical Resource thread.

Bumps
This is a very slow forum. There is no need to bump a post unless it is in danger of falling off the second page. DO NOT BUMP STICKIES. Stickies hang at the top of page one and are in no danger off falling off the page. Bumping a thread that doesn't need to be bumped is considered spam. Please don't spam our forum.

Chat Threads
This is a very slow forum. As with bumping there is no need to constantly chat in a thread to keep it at the top of the page. This is considered bumping since most of the posting is off-topic. Threads that become chat intense threads will be moved to chatterbox. If in the future the need arises for a community chat, it can be discussed with the mods of the forum.

Show and Tell
You're allowed to show images of your work in progress or finished pieces. However, if the design is by someone else, it is a good idea to have a footnote stating who the designer happens to be so if other people are interested in using the same pattern know where to find it.

Pattern Posting
Sharing commercially made patterns usually violates the designer's copyright. Only patterns of your own design can be posted, and you must understand that someone may use your pattern privately. It's a good idea to state with the pattern what your terms are in case they want to sell what they created.

"Example"
You are allowed to sell up to 10 of this design per year. Please do not copy or share patterns. I retain all rights.

Endnote: Guidelines are subject to expand as more things come up.

Congrats to Rumiko Takahashi for finally completing Inuyasha! It's been 11 years and 1 month, 558 chapters (56 books). Last chapter released June 15, 2008 by Shonen Sunday. Best wishes for your next work, Takahashi-sama!
