I just started doing embroidery again after 10+ years. I'm open to all kinds of tips. This is my latest practice project.

I haven't been doing embroidery for a long time, but I kind of sketch out the design I want on the fabric and then I go over it in the thread.

Yes, I am unsure if this is helpful or not but my general method is to draw the design on paper then on the fabric. My preferred method of embroidery on a piece like this or when sewing in cursive writing is back-stitch for I feel as though I have more control over curves. But I also find experimenting with new stitches can give a piece a "multi-media" feel.

This practice piece looks great so far! If you choose to fill in the lineart I would recommend noting the directional lines on the face (such as cheekbones) as if you are applying foundation smile
