What's your favorite section of your local craft store?

When I am in Michaels I start in beads, pass through those colored party boxes/bags on my way to the ribbons and fake flowers, and finish with a detailed browse of scrapbooking.

Which sections do you avoid like the plague?

I avoid the children's "art" kits section and the unfinished wood s**t section.

Any fun recent purchases? Out-of-character purchases? Total impulse purchases? Favorite purchases?

I got these Martha Stewart flower kits which I debated over for no less than 10 minutes, and finally grabbed up because they were on clearance. I haven't started them, but I actually really kind of want to. Maybe tomorrow if I remember I own them. I haven't done a kit type craft in a very long time. And that time was with a younger cousin, so I was apprehensive to buy it. But then I thought of what I would use it for. I couldn't refuse it.

I want to throw some fabulous parties.
Oops. I'm rambling.

So let's talk about craft stores and how much money you blow at one.

I kinda like the unfinished wood stuff, but because I like painting and adding stuff to those tiny cheap boxes... I made one look like stone once and set a fake eyeball I made onto it. xp
I would probably gather tons of those stone and wooden beads myself but they cost to much in actual craft stores usually so I never buy them there unless I really need some for something I am already working on.
Usually when I go into Michael's I'm after something specific but I have bought some very soft and funky hairy yarn stuff with squishy coloured kernal things in it once at random.... still have not made anything with it.... might help if I could knit. xp
My local craft store is horrible the only good stuff they get is this hardboard stuff I like to paint on, I can't find it anywhere else.... sooner or later I know they will stop getting it like everything else in that place and I'll be going crazy trying to get more.
I think I get most of my crafty stuff from thrift stores, random garage sales and online.

Bored? I'm still wondering => Click
Beads, painting supplies, and then the drawing supplies sections are my favorites. I love them and run directly to them as soon as I get there. =)

I also like to look at the fake flowers.. ahaha. xD

I avoid.. no place actually. Usually, after I'm done browsing, I'll wander around the store to see if anything catches my eyes. However, I never buy from the sections with the 123 kits and such.

Fun recent purchases? I went on a bead and charm spree. =) That was fun. And expensive haha.

And money-wise? I shop until I run out of money. :[ So I have to be careful not to bring to much..

Lets see... uhhh...

I start with the 'junk' aisle, as I like to call it. You know, the one with everything from feathers to googly eyes and letter beads. Then I wind through to the section with Sculpey and modge-podge and stuff like that. Then from there, I make my way to drawing and painting supplies. First charcoal, then oils, then brushes. And then I go over to the fabric section. Even if I'm not looking for anything in particular, I like to think about what I can make with the stuff I see. And I like to run my hands over all the fabric as I walk past - does anyone else do this?

Yes, I do art.
Help?

I absolutely love felt and fleece, and I bought at least twenty different colors that I'll probably never use. But it's so delightfully soft~! <3

I also love those beautifully fance ribbons, and I usually have to force myself to close my eyes and turn around to keep myself from buying $50 worth. Dx

For some reason, I also feel like I need to have thread and feathers of every color imagineable.

-Shrug- I need a job, so I can buy even more.

Linkofcamalot was hacked. Help him out?

Kumo wants Seal or Penguin Slippers, but can't decide which one! PM me, and pick for me. First to 10 wins. Dx

Seals: 5
Penguins: 4

Claustrophobic? It means he's afraid of Santa Claus.

HOHOHO.

I go to Joanns. I spend like. 50-200$. Depends what I need. I usually hit fabrics and trims first. Then like buttons and clasps and threads... obvi... I always sew.

Then sometimes I'll get to the fabric paints and stuff. And then jewelery. Sometimes I'll go to the knitting part. I like knitting. but not as much as sewing.

Lately I'vebeen going to the fancy fabrics because Peach and my Prom dress.

<33

Stop, Patrick! You're scaring him!

HAHAHAHAHA.

omigod. I love touching fabric. That's what I do alllll daaaay.

I also love feathers, and I have a strange obsession with buying up those miniature birds for floral arrangements.
I think they are so cute.

Oh my god @_@;

I do serious shopping therapy.

Shoes, Clothes, and Art Supplies

The other day I bought like 35 dollars worth of sculpey / earring stuff.

=w=;;; and then had to go turn around and spend 25 for a toaster oven LOL

Last time I was at a big craft store (that was last Friday actually) I ran for the corner with beads and was there for quite some time. I bought nearly every roll of wire I could find, and some nylon thread to use for my peyote work that finaly is going alright. Then I stood about 15 minutes with a box/storage thing in my hands contemplating wheter or not I should buy it. I bought it anyway.(It's a neat litlle thing, there it isI have the second one.)I'm happy I bought it because now I can take my beads with me when I leave for summercamp Saturday. Then I ran of to the brushes and got myself a new number 8 brush. So now I can really get into water coloring again. Total amount of money spent: 50 Euro's. And now I want to head for my own litle crappy hobbyshop and buy some Swarovski's but I don't know what I want to do with those so I'm hesitating on that one.

If I am to enter a craft store I either need to have someone there to focus me or it will take at least an hour. I also have a terrible habit of over buying just because something is on sale.

My last huge buy was alcohol inks and the whole shebang for those. I have a bad tendancy to pick up projects on a whim. I'm still trying to get my afghan done sweatdrop

Always go to the yarn aisle. And during school year, as I'm an art/design student I have to stop in drawing/drafting supplies. Michaels for the yarn (or AC Moore if there's one near) and a local to school art store for drawing/drafting stuffs.
Can't wait to get go a craft store. Looking at learning how to spin wool (if I'm buying all that yarn, if it's cheaper to spin myself, why not?) Gotta get some new knitting needles... but I really aught to finish these projects before I go splurge again.

I am always in scrapbooking or yarn/string section. I love scrapbooking, and crocheting, and when I have a minute, I sometimes make bracelets for the fun of it.

PM for details!
I normally head straight for the fabrics section. I'm a bargain hunter I guess. If I think something's too much, I find something better and cheaper, bnut I LOVE fabric. I also go to the drawing/ arts section.
I dunno, I guess I just love everything in an art store, except for those annoying fake flowers. x.X
Only thing is, I haven't been to an art store in what seems like forever! I have around $100.00 in gift cards, but because it's so far away from my home, and since gas prices are insane, I can't buy any fabric, drawing stuff, whatever! Dx
I'm surely going to go mad for being away from my favorite place for so long...

For fabric I love going to the Fabric district in LA. so many pretty fabric's and other matrials. For art supplies there is this nice little store in Thousand Oaks that I go to. Could not for the life of my tell you the name of the place or street (I am so bad with names), but they have everything I could possible want there for cheaper then most art stores. I normally try to stay away from places like Michaels and joann's, but they do have their ups, to them. I'm mostly into sewing and watercoloring.
