See, I can make the embroidery thread friendship bracelets just fine. It's the hemp I'm having trouble with.

Try starting with a twisted one. They are a bit easier (even if they don't look it) since you only knot on one side instead of two. That way it might be easier to get used to the knots.

[Hemp Necklaces]

There are two beginner knots you might want to try. the first one would make it so that your necklace spirals, the second would make it so that its flat against your neck.


easiest way is to get 3 pieces of long hemp (depending on if its going to be a bracelet or a necklace) knot them all together at the top.
i use a clip board, clip the knotted part in place; then i use a piece of duct tape and tape down the middle piece nice and tight.

take the left side and cross it over the middle piece then take the right side lay it over the left side and pull it under through to the left.

if you want it flat against your neck its the same thing but instead of starting on the left sode always your alternate left then right.

You can use four pieces of hemp, but I find it easiest to just do 2 longer ones. Then you fold them in half and it makes it easy to tie a knot in the top. As for the rest of the process I usually pick out my beads before hand and draw a diagram of how i want to place them and where i'll need to add them. I always have a ruler handy. The knotting process is simple really, it's just hard to explain.
