Ok, so I have been sewing for a little over a year now, and I already have more fabric scraps sitting in a box in my room than I can even use at the moment, and I have no idea what to do with all of it.

So, I need ideas for projects I can make to use up all my scrap fabric. 3nodding

I have all kinds of fabric in all kinds of colors. I need project ideas!

Yeah, I would say a scrap quilt.

Or maybe make this quilt thing into a tote bag, or a pillow, or even a crazy jacket/shirt.

If you can crochet or knit -
you can rip your fabric into strips
and use it in a knitting/crochet project. :]

I was going to suggest that. My grandmother used to crochet rugs for the bathroom or kitchen out of old fabric scraps.

Thanks, MisterNiceguy for my Yeti heart

Claustrophobic? It means he's afraid of Santa Claus.

HOHOHO.

You could make a skirt/dress that's all edgy and rippy with it. It looks cool. xD

Stop, Patrick! You're scaring him!

HAHAHAHAHA.

I used to know how to make pot holders and mats and if you have enough, rugs out of strips of scrap paper. I'm going to google it but if I can't, I'll take pictures of what to do. It's quite easy and looks amazing even with clashing fabric. :3

there's a victim in this story,
i wish to God that it was her.

I sometimes make rag dolls out of my scraps, it's a pretty fun way to use up your left overs xx

I used to stuff some of my scraps into plushies along with the stuffing, just to get rid of them. I usually throw them away if they're small enough. If they're scraps too small for a bag and too big to just throw away, make small novelty things like tiny bags or pin cushions. xD Or tiny plushies. Or decorative pockets, or real pockets you can just sew onto other things for an eclectic look.

I find that it takes way too long to sew the scraps together, because you have to keep trimming them to get them to fit, and if you're using a sewing machine, it takes almost as long as hand-sewing. It's great if you're going for the patchy quilty look on something, but otherwise it's just a pain.

I think there's a way to recycle fabric but I can't remember.

I like to keep strips of scrap fabric around for when I make books.

Hail Grunny!

I owuld just keep them in a box/shoebox unti one day you need some scraps to use in a project.

Or maybe you could decorate a sketchbook or notebook with them.

Lol if you had an asian ball-jointed doll, the problem wouldnt be what to do with the excess scraps but where to get MORE scraps xD

It's got sewing ideas for every skill level. I'm a fan of theirs.
If you ever have any 'ugly' fabric, you might consider: Donate it to the nearest Art teacher; most times one person's ugly is another person's Charming.
So that's two ideas, with options for just tons more.
Good Luck!

Some people stuff plushies they make with the scraps and other things stuffable, and others make yarn to crochet/knit with them. If they're big enough you can make a patchwork-ish clothing out of the scraps for your plushies or even for yourself.
