Hiya~ I picked up crochet recently (need to learn to knit next but it seems more confusing) I taught myself because I wanted to make amigurumi and other cute things. I use Clover soft touch hooks, I have had wrist problems and had surgery on my hooking wrist so they are easier for me to use then just the thin kind. Yes I know people have arthritis and still crochet but I don't want to make myself suffer when I don't -have- to ^^; Also Ravelry is awesome ;3

You bet! I think I need some fresh perspectives to help me think of possible improvements, too, for that matter. xd

My opinion? No, you don't. It takes... well, imagine making something with just slip-stitches. Not single crochet, or double crochet, no. Just slip stitches. Ultimately, that's what kitting is, and it takes half of forever and isn't nearly as diverse. Again, just my own opinion.

Ouch... and you want to knit, too??? gonk That's great you were able to get it taken care of, though. Do you use a brace of any kind? I've seen some at Joann's, apparently specifically for knitters and crocheters, either for people with wrist problems or just to prevent them (and am partly wondering how well they work).

Yeah, don't. You shouldn't have to, after all. I don't know how my great-grandmother did it, but she was a Force to be Reckoned With, which is all I really need to know.

I want to learn to knit because some things use a little bit of knitting and since I've never tried XD
I don't wear a brace unless it's sore but I make sure to take breaks and roll my wrist around, I tried one of those support gloves but it was a size s and I would need m so it just cut off my circulation lol.
Most great grandmas and grandmas are ! biggrin
Oh yea I didn't post any pics~ here are two User Image & User Image
I used Nimoe's cupcake pattern then added Hello Kitty theme and the Bear was for my niece and I just kind of mashed a few patterns together taking the pieces I liked from each.

Faolan: I would love to see it.

To me just the activity would seem worth it, not to mention experience, even if the area is small.

I like making up amigurumi characters.

I'm working on all 11 doctors from Doctor Who. I still need to finish 3 and 11.

Here's 10!

That's why I brought it up ^^ You reminded me that I need to make one~ I want to make so many things, not enough hands! lol

I made this today. It was my 1st time working with crochet thread so this was a test. I like most of it but the things I don't like I know how to fix next time I make one ;D (It's a French macaron cell phone charm)

Haha oh wow, that's adorable! I'm in the middle of making a tiny giraffe for a friend of mine.

Hey, maybe you can help me figure this out. I'm trying to make a dog amigurumi, but the pattern called for mohair/mohair mix yarn. I can't find that anywhere at the store where I'm at

Any ideas of a substitute that'll help it look like actual fur?

You can't see it very well in the pic but the teddy bear I posted I gave it a kind of whispy/felted look that reminds me of mohair, by brushing it with my wire dog brush and the yarn was just plain old Red Heart Super Saver. So you can try that if you have a dog or can get a hold of a brush on the cheap. I hope that helped ^^;
Really? Wow, I didn't realize smile did you just separate the strands? Or how did you get that effect?

I brushed it after I finished each piece but before sewing on the legs/arms/muzzle I could have brushed more so it might be worth a try for your dog amigurumi biggrin
