That's how I feel. I can make a bunch of faery doors, wings, gnomes, mushrooms and mushroom houses... but my true passion, my faery, mermaid, dragon and animal sculptures? They take too long to pop out enough in time for this. whee I wouldn't normally stress over it, but I'm the featured artist this year and they put my captive mermaid in the fish bowl in the paper with an article about me. (mostly because I think all the other artists in the mill {we're a bunch of artists in divided studios in an old 1800s textile mill} have been featured at least once before) lol

Ahhhh, well that's still really AWESOME! I want an article and picture in the paper d:

Yea if I saw the article I'd want to see more of what the paper featured. If you can't bust them out you should definitely have a portfolio so they can see everything you've done(or maybe a computer or one of those digital picture frames) just in case you get another interview or if people want to custom order. That's what I'm going to do.

I wouldn't normally stress either, but I've been working more and when I come home I'm too pooped to sew. I have a bunch of orders to fill and then I can focus on the fair products :/

Oh, I never thought of bringing a portfolio! Awesome idea! heart

That's awesome! I love it. 3nodding How long does something like that take you to create?

lol

That's pretty sweet. Industrial is almost as big as steampunk right now. Will the hexnuts wear out the paper twine with a lot of wear? I'm constantly breaking my beaded bracelets when I wear them too much and rough edged beads cut through the line. whee

^^ Thank you! The necklace didn't take too long, between 1 and 2 hours of combined worked... ~20 minutes for the dangling wrapped pendant part, ~hour for the chain. not including the initial rings of the chain. Stupid new chains! *shakes fist*

And the bracelet was barely 20 minutes.

As far as I've seen, the paper will hold for a good... long long time. It's old twine but it's hardier than most of the cotton I've used =P I can't attest for hardy wearers though.
what a nice, inspiring thread! I want to join!! Here's what I'll be working on for the next few weeks - creating paper flowers for my daughter's first birthday:

It's hard to see because its so small. sad Is it made of origami?
it's made of tissue paper and floral tape. I'm finding a creative use for all the tissue paper we ended up with from her baby shower. I'm one of those who has to "save everything" that might potentially be used for crafting. xp

Oh cool! smile I see. Back when I was a little Trill, my mom used to make huge pom pom style colorful flowers out of tissue paper and give them to the neighborhood kids to fight over. 4laugh

Hmm... other ideas for tissue paper... I used to have the children of my old preschool class (that I taught - not attended xd ) make sun catchers with cuts of tissue paper between two laminating sheets. They looked colorful and cheery taped to the windows. Not quite suitable the motor skills of a one year old just yet though, I'm guessing.

I actually knew one adult artist who took that to an extreme with many exact shades of tissue paper and recreated a detailed, realistic landscape with the shards. It looked lovely and I was baffled where he got the patience (and time) to do it. lol

@ Roland Gridley: That bracelet is awesome. I love jewelry that uses unusual components like that; it reminds me of the earrings I made out of old luggage keys.

@ Plum_Faerie: OMG those bunnies are so cute! They look nice and squishy.

Today's creation: more earrings, pearls and amethyst this time. I've been on a real earring kick lately. I also made a pair with chalk turquoise and obsidian chips, and I made a pair yesterday with some kind of dark pearl-type material, but I don't have pictures of either of these, because they're on silver-colored findings and I don't have silver earwires. sad But hopefully I'll have pictures this weekend, when I can go shopping!

oooh - that gives me an idea! I got some stained glass ideas floating about the ol noggin!

For today's creation, I made two garden stakes for my daughter's garden. I'll post pictures of them once I have them out in the garden.
