Hello everyone,

I just got to thinking that I don't see art swaps in the textile section of Gaia and I have always wanted to try and organize one. I just got a kiln for fusing glass so I know I am going to be making a lot of trial pieces anyways so I would like to know if anyone would be interested in setting up an art swap.

Please post here if you are interested and please post some input on how you would like to see an art swap run. I believe that this would be a great way to spread your love of crafts and make new friends :3

For those of you who dont know what an art swap it is when artists partner up and each make a piece for each other and mail it to their partner without telling them what it is ( who doesnt love a good surprise? ). Then you post pictures of your new presents for the rest of us to see :3

Hurray someone came, quickly tell your friends xd . I wish this subforum wasnt so slow.

Anyways, I want to make it something big with lots of different styles of art getting sent out I just need to figure out how to choose partners and such depending on the amount of people who are interested.

I do a lot of sewing. Sometimes I knit. (when I get enough patience, hahaha.)

We should make like, personality profiles with our likes and dislikes etc,

That way, people can swap things relative to the persons interests.

When this gets organised, you should make a separate thread or something, be the official. xD

Have people post their personality profile to "join" the swap, I guess. And then pair people up, have like a set date for when everyone should sent out their arts and that'll be like "round 1". We could even do it "secret santa" style, that'd be cool.

Thats what I was planning on doing ~ heart

I want to make a new thread, and have a post area dedicated to the participants likes/dislikes, what their medium is, favorite colors and so on so everyone can see who is playing :3

I just really need to know if there is enough of a draw on Gaia to pull it off since the textile art forums move at snail speed.

This will be fun.

We should just PM all the people we know who do artses and ask if they want to do the swap,

If we get enough gold we could make an Art Swap guild... *shrugs* It's only 20k.

That would make it easier to control, ya know?

We gotta PROMOTE it. xD

I think a well organized thread will be the best way to start off since it's open to everyone. If it takes off then a guild would be awesome. Right now I am working on two projects for class, but when I am finished I will set up a thread. heart

Ooh! *waves hand and bounces up and down* I'm interested! It sounds fun!

I like Ladeh's idea of having a rounds system...that way everyone has time to make their art and send it out, and there shouldn't be anyone going "my art hasn't come yet D:"

I'm interested!

I crochet, paint glass bottles, make belts out of pop tabs, draw, and paint with watercolors. I try to use sculpey but I'm still figuring that out.

So primarily crochet and soon I'm going to start sewing Lolita. I love seeing other peoples art. My favorite time of year is when the Art Symposium in Casper is on. High school students from the entire state of Wyoming display their stuff.

This would be fun!
