The move from Farmington, New Mexico to Gotham City was a move that Natalie Murphy's whole family had immediately resented. “That place is filled with crooks and gamblers,” Mr. Foley had stated, disapproval staining his every word. “It's not the proper place for a young lady such as yourself,” Her mother had told her through tears. And last but not least, her younger brother Dylan had once more not failed to put his own two cents in, “You couldn't last a minute there. You'll run back home crying in less than a month. Trust me.” It was no lie that at first, this had discouraged the young brunette from wanting to go, but she knew she had to. Staying another minute in Farmington, suffocating under the flow of day to day life and the outrageous heat, was too much. The small ranch that her family had owned for generations was nothing of its former glory, and it was becoming too much for Natalie to handle in upkeep. Not to mention all of the 'friends' Natalie had made in highschool seemed to have turned out to be backstabbing let downs. She just needed an escape from it all. “Who's going to look after Obidiah? And what about the rest of the horses? Natalie, we need you too much to leave.” Her Father had said on the night prior to his daughters one way flight into Gotham, “What could possibly be in that city for you?”

He had been leaning on Natalie's bedroom wall watching as she scurried about her room making sure she took everything she wanted. Upon hearing the third part of her fathers question she stopped, and shot him a confused look. “Something way better than whatevers here for me. I have no future in this place, you should want something more for me.” The words came out cold and distant, though she hadn't intended them to. “I just need to go ...” And that was the last thing she had said to her father. The following morning he had refused to speak to her, and she hadn't even bothered to kiss him goodbye. That, however, only had added to the tears that her mother had already been expelling, and the kiss she planted on her daughters cheek was especially wet. “Tell Dylan I love him, I promise to call.” And with that Natalie Murphy turned her back on family, her last promise being a rather empty one. She wasn't planning on calling. The girl needed freedom, she needed for her own life to begin and the life her family had given to her to end, and Gotham City was the answer to it all.

                                          *********

Good morning, Wayne Enterprises Central Office this is Natalie speaking and how may I help you today?” Natalie greeted energetically enough, tapping her pen to the small notepad in front of her prepared to jot any important notes down. It was the usual phone call, some kind of important meeting that needed to be scheduled as soon as possible for Mr. Dalton, a head adviser to Bruce Wayne himself. Natalie had been hired as his new personal secretary on the spot, Mr. Dalton had said she 'exemplified all standards needed' but Michelle, the now ex-personal secretary, had said she had only been hired because she was young and still had her looks going for her. Either way, this job was the only thing she had in Gotham City besides her apartment on the west side of town. Michelle had ironically been demoted to Natalie's assistant and despite a rather rough start the two had grown somewhat close, and now could be seen gossiping in the break room whenever they had time. Natalie sighed and hung up the phone, neatly printing the new appointment in Mr. Dalton's schedule book. It was just as she dotted the last I in “Room 315, Section A – Third Quarter Perspective Earnings Meeting” that Michelle popped her head over the cubicle wall.

“Natalie! Your not going to believe this!” She exclaimed in her usual whisper. This was the usual way Michelle started most of her sentences however, so Natalie feigned her usual excitement back. “What this time?” She responded in a slightly sarcastic tone, her face upturned in a smile. She placed her head into the palms of her hands as she waited for a response. “Well,” Michelle began, tossing her bushy and rather unnatural blond hair behind her back, “I heard we might be getting a visit from Bruce Wayne! It's only a rumor of course, but the place is abuzz with it.” Natalie furrowed her brow and let out a quick, “Right.” before turning around to her desktop. “You guys say that every Wednesday. He never comes. I don't get why you'd even want him to, read this.” The brunette dug into her desk and pulled out a newspaper dating from the day before. She lifted it up and Michelle immediately grabbed it with her red-painted sausage like fingers, reading it over her moon framed glasses. Bruce Wayne had once more made the front page of the Gothic Daily. This time it was a blown up picture of him in some kind of apparent stupor though the article failed to claim if it was from alcohol or other. His arms were wrapped around two models who looked as raunchy as ever, and the headline read 'Anyone Want a Share?' - boy billionaire celebrates growth in own stocks. “Photoshopped.” Michelle quickly dismissed, shoving the paper back at Natalie, “You can't believe everything you read in papers like these deary. It's all lies.” She hastily added, as if the Gothic Daily was merely some cheap, glossy news stand gossip magazine. Natalie smiled to herself and filed the newspaper away in its previous resting place. “I'll take my chances.”

Michelle's phone then rang and she quickly rushed over to answer it, leaving Natalie alone in the room that fit both her and Mr. Dalton's office. He was currently out for a meeting however, and the room was dark and somewhat scary looking. Natalie checked the small digital clock on her computer. It was exactly one, time for her lunch break. The hazel eyed girl stood up from her desk, and brushed her black pencil skirt off, bits falling to the ground as she did so. She grabbed her purse and coat and on her way out locked the room door. It was essential that she did this, that much had been grounded into her head from the get go. Natalie waved goodbye to Michelle who nodded as she squawked, “No sir, he's all full for Friday. Maybe next week.” Making her way into the elevator, which was surprisingly empty, she fished her phone out from the messy thing she called a purse. Apparently it was designer, so it didn't have to be functional. Upon signing with Wayne Enterprises you received a blackberry, and though it had taken Natalie a while to get to where she was at least semi comfortable with it, she was now lost without it. Natalie pressed a button, and the screen illuminated showing a missed call and voicemail from her Mother. Repressing a sigh, she quickly closed the message and deleted the voicemail without listening to it. She refused to treated like a child and be forced to 'check in' with them every week.

The elevator gave a pleasant 'bing' as the doors slid open with a whooshing sound. She was now on the main floor and people darted about like mad, half of them being tourists who didn't even belong there and only added to the chaos. Natalie smoothed out her brown hair as she walked across the floor wondering what she would grab for a quick lunch. Maybe a panini from Jacob's Eatery or sushi from Little Tokyo. Either way she'd only get it to go, and eat it in her office with Michelle over her shoulder picking at her scraps. She shuddered at the thought. Maybe she'd find a quiet place somewhere and eat it there instead. After all, it's not like Mr. Dalton would be coming back any time soon. The smooth sliding double doors opened automatically, allowing entrance into the perfectly warm spring day. Natalie closed her eyes and let the slightly cool breeze ruffle her hair. No. No, it hadn't been a mistake coming here, this place was better than Farmington in every way.

Bewildered, the girl seeks help from anyone she can find, not knowing what she'll be in for once her help arrives.

                                                  mermaid x human

a frail looking, naked mermaid washes up on shore in the dead of winter somewhere in the north. Though she has no fin, everyone in the small town she arrived in knows she is something strange. A kind hearted family takes her in and teaches her a few English phrases, surprisingly she is a fast learner and everyday it seems she demonstrates new knowledge, most of which she could not have known before hand. Soon, she abandons the family and starts her journey southward where she runs into a boy ...

The hyped up end of the year high school masquerade ball is always a huge event at a certain upscale Boston preparatory school. Most students take the event so seriously that at times it is next to impossible to tell who is behind any given mask. It is because of this that two previous strangers share a dance that flips their world upside down. Usually the dance is just a harmless one night fling ... but this time it seems to be just a bit more.

iteracy. Literacy is something that is very important to me regarding a partner. While I would prefer someone who will challenge me and improve my skill, I realize that is hard to find ... especially in a long term partner. I would instead simply love it if I found a partner that is fun to roleplay with and will not desert me after the first page. I ask that you at least be semi-lit, and post around 2 paragraphs per post. Also please advance the roleplay with every post and do not leave that just up to me; It gets annoying. I would prefer it if you did not have silly spelling errors but I know that we are all human and they slip in every once in a while. Writers block is also an issue, so if you can't think of anything just do your best. I'm sure I will have days when I will have to do the same.

Doubling. Doubling is also something that I find next to necessary in a roleplay. It makes things more interesting, and that way we can each play a boy and a girl without any trouble. I do however, also like to simply have two characters so that can be up to us to figure out. When it comes to playing a boy/girl I'm up for either or. Though if I do play a boy I usually ask that we double so I can play a girl too. Not always though, it depends a lot on the plot. Also, I do not do yaoi/yuri; I'm not even to sure which is which D:

Posting. Posting is a pet peeve of mine. I only post over private threads, which means no pm, email, aim etc. When you post I would love it if you dressed up said post and made it pretty. I know this is hard for some people who are not experienced with such a thing, so I can settle with just a picture, as long as it's not anime or animated, and colored text for speaking. I do believe however that pretty posts get me more excited to roleplay :D

Romance. Romance is something that should be sprinkled throughout the roleplay for it to hold any of my interest at all. Though this has obviously some exceptions, I think that Romance shouldn't mess up any plot idea, but merely add to it. If you aren't comfortable with the idea of love in your roleplay I can always try to work around that if I really like the idea, but I'll give you no promises.

Fun. Fun, Fun, Fun. I roleplay because I find it fun, everything else is minor :D

______my onexone thread

Hi, my name is Anna & I would prefer to be called that over any form of my username. I'm 16 years old and live in the United States, if that matters to you at all, and I'm really nice! :'D

I consider myself a very flexible roleplayer, who isn't afriad to double (or triple!) or play the opposite sex. You shouldn't be either :)

I refuse to do yaoi or yuri, sorry. It's just not my thing. Convince me?

I consider myself adv.lit. I am capable of writing a lot per post while moving the roleplay along at the same time. However, I still believe there is a lot I need to work on when it comes to roleplaying and I would love a partner that would challenge me and generally improve my skill.

I mainly like to just have fun with my one x one's! So it's alright if you aren't exactly adv.lit or so on, I would still consider roleplaying with you if we come up with a good idea :D

A touch of romance makes everything better, though it doesn't have to be the main focus, preferably it does need to be sprinkled through out the roleplay.

I will only roleplay over private threads, and I do not use anime pictures.

It would make me happy jump up and down in pleasure if you decorated your posts with a different font color and picture :) ?!

If you are seriously considering roleplaying with me, please be in it long term. I'm way tired of starting roleplays with people only to have them leave me for various 'reasons'.

bout Me. About Me's are always a little hard for me to do but I'll give it a try. My name is Anna, I'm sixteen years old and a junior in high school. I live in the United States and I'm in the Eastern Timezone. I haven't really been roleplaying for all that long, maybe a year and half at most. I realize that I have a lot of area to improve, but I don't think I'm all that bad at it ;D Though I might not have been roleplaying for too long, I have been writing forever ... pretty much as long as I can remember. I consider myself more of a writer than roleplayer, and if you roleplay with me you'll probably be able to see that. When I roleplay I think of it more as writing a story than anything.

lots. Plots are kind of new to me, since I've always roleplayed simply through pairings (boy x girl, druggie x druggie, etc.). None of my plots are set in stone, and don't be discouraged because there is a detail you didn't like. I'm very open-minded. Also apologies if some are a bit cliche. Most are original thoughts, but what can I say I'm not all that imaginative :) Also, feel free to suggest! I'm up for pretty much anything.

It's summertime, and that means kennywood is open and operating for yet another year. Two apply for jobs and both are hired on the spot. The manager tells them that they would both be working the afternoon/night shift and that strange things have happened during this shift before. Both the kids blow him off, but what happens when these things start to come actually happen? We could make the typical boy x girl pairing, druggie x good girl? Maybe.

The lure of the city, the ease of college, everything is going their way. That is however, until a disaster of monumental proportions hits New York. Suddenly everything is turned upside down, and the glam upper class life the four kids had is demolished. The nation is in an uproar. Do these four have what it takes to make it out alive? Think Cloverfield
