Legolas had arrived at Rivendell not too long ago. He was here for the council meeting being held by Elrond. Least it was an elven kingdom. Not his own, but he liked being around his own race. Now if this was a dwarf kingdom it would of been a different story. The contempt his father, and almost all his race, had towards dwarves lingered a little within him too. However, he wasn't as bad as his father. Least not anymore, but he wasn't too open about that either.
Earlier had just met the dwarf Gimli. He was a bit bothersome, but oddly the two could hold conversation. Well, if one could call it that. It was moreso the dwarf getting annoyed and challenging him. He found it strange, being challenged to odd competitions. However he was a bit stubborn himself and didn't like backing down to a competition. He wasn't his flamboyant father but he still had his pride.
Gimli and Legolas butted heads with much hostility when they first met. Apparently he had a woman who was a mix of dwarf and elven with him. Now that was a first for him. 'What elf and dwarf would ever fall in love? And actually make a child?' was his first thought. He wasn't really sure how to initially react towards her. On one hand she was a dwarf, but she was half his own race too. Gimli nonetheless was openly hostile at first with him and while Legolas tried to be more civil and polite, if he had anyone point a weapon at him he would tend to do the same back.
Actually Gimli and Legolas still weren't on the best terms. Perhaps that could be an understatement, but for the most part they wouldn't gut each other. He even liked a few of the odd competitions the dwarf came up with. Of course he wouldn't admit that and they still poked at each others' race. Perhaps with time he could tolerate the dwarf better. There was a chance he might have to go on a mission with Gimli so he may have to or be miserable.
Aragorn was out taking watch by the woods so Legolas stepped outside in the opposite direction. The moon was almost full and its light graced his figure. Being an elf he was quite tall and pale silver light made his long blonde hair shine. He didn't plan to use his bow, but had it with him just in case. He about always had his bow and arrows with him. More dangerous times seemed to be falling on them soon so his habit of being well prepared should serve well. Thoughts of what would happen during the council lingered in through his head. As lovely as the insides of this elven kingdom was, he thought stepping out for some fresh air or maybe a little walk would clear his head.
