ALTHOUGH SHE STILL HAS HER SPUNK, IT SEEMS FORCED, LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING CONSTANTLY ON HER MIND. EM ISN'T AS SOCIAL EITHER. THESE DAYS, SHE STAYS HOME INSTEAD OF GOING OUT TO PARTIES AND SUCH. SHE FAKES IT AROUND PEOPLE SHE KNOWS, BUT SOME THINGS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO HIDE...
xo EM, EMI TO CLOSE FRIENDS, HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE SPUNKY CHILD OF A RATHER MIDDLE-CLASS FAMILY. SO FAR, SHE HAS HAD A NORMAL LIFE. SHE HAS HAD A CERTAIN FLAIR IN SCHOOL, WHERE SHE EXCELS. SHE COULD EVEN BE CONSIDERED A NERD IF IT WEREN'T FOR HER PARTYING TENDANCIES. EM HAD A GOOD TIME LIVING LIFE BEFORE SUMMER ROLLED AROUND. IT ALL STARTED WITH DIZZY SPELLS. THEN SHE BECAME TIRED. sHE FINALLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR WHEN HER RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FROZE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE NEWS WASN'T GOOD. MALIGNANT CARDIOMYOPATHY. IN SHORT, THE MUSCLES IN HER HEART WERE DETERIORATING. AND BECAUSE IT WAS MALIGNANT, TO ONLY WAY TO CURE IT IS THROUGH A TRANSPLANT. OF COURSE, EM HAS A BLOOD COMPLICATION, SO YOU HAVE A CHANCE OF FINDING A GOOD HEART HAS AS MUCH OF AS GETTING HIT BY LIGHTING. ALTHOUGH HER DOCTORS THINK SHE'S AS GOOD AS DEAD, HER PARENTS INTEND ON ALLOWING HER TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST AS LONG AS SHE CAN. EM ISN'T SURE HOW SHE THINKS OF THIS, BUT SHE GOES ALONG. EVERY DAY, EM GOES THROUGH HER NORMAL PACES. SHE ALWAYS CARRIES WITH HER A COLLECTION OF PILL BOTTLES AND COMPLICATED INSTRUMENTS, ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOMEONE IN CASE SHE IS OVERCOME WITH A PARTICULARLY STRONG SPELL. MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE, EM CARRIES AROUND A SMALL BEEPER THAT SHE STARES AT, JUST HOPES THAT IT MIGHT EVER BEEP. BUT IT NEVER DOES. IT WOULD ONLY BEEP IF HER DOCTORS HAD FOUND A REPLACEMENT HEART. ONLY HER DOCTORS, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS KNOW ABOOUT HER CONDITION.
xo SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES CHOCOLATE AND SPORTS CARS. SINCE EM WAS A SMALL GIRL, SHE LOVED TO EXPLORE, WHETHER IT BE A MALL OR A FOREST. SHE IS AN AVID READER, BUT GAMES QUITE A BIT AS WELL. EM DOESN'T PARTICUARILY ENJOY SCHOOL, BUT EXCELLS NONETHELESS. SHE DOESN'T LIKE WHITE CHOCOLATE EITHER, CONSIDERING IT A BLIGHT IN THE GOOD NAME OF CHOCOLATE. SHE CONSIDERS LEXUSES AN OVERPRICED TOYOTA AND PREFERS LOLLIPOPS (OR CHOCOLATE) OVER ANY OTHER KIND OF CANDY. HOWEVER, WITH THAT IN MIND, SHE DISLIKES BUTTERSCOTCH AND CARMEL. EM LOVES TO MAKE BROWNIES AND COOKIES, THOUGH, AND ADORES CAKE. LASTLY, SHE IS A COMPUTER WIZ AND LOVES TO TINKER WITH AND REPROGRAM THEM.

It’s the year 1982 in Winthrop, Washington. It’s the time of scrunchies, leg warmers, and shoulder pads. Culture is at its height in Winthrop. A bright, cheery town seemingly lost in the nineteenth century, it seems as though nothing bad could happen there.
However, along a long driveway lies a large, heavily-guarded gothic building, separated from the rest of the town by a heavy, wrought-iron gate. Children in town are warned to stay away and at night, incomprehensible echoes can be heard emitting from the building. Nobody but those who work there knows what actually goes on in the building, but everyone knows that it cannot be anything good.
Here, kids, ranging in their teenaged years, are cast away by their parents. Each of them are victims of severe mental disorders. Many of them are schizophrenic while others are just insane. In their minds… well, no one knows what goes on in their minds but them. Here, you’ll be playing one of these children.
Guns, war, and unknown enemies. Life, death, and a little bit of terror. In their feverish fits and dreams at the institution, each child has eventually created an alternate reality in their own minds. Strange thing is, they're all the same alternate reality, although they never appear before the child has been admitted into the institution. The doctors and nurses are all mostly unaware of this small escape, although many suspect that something is amiss...
In this alternate reality, each child is perfectly sane. Although they all share the same world, most are much too afraid to seek out others. You see, unlike other imaginary worlds, this one isn't exactly peaceful. Each time they enter the world, their lives are in danger. You see, if they die in that world, they die in the real world as well. It doesn't help that there is an unknown enemy out to kill those who invade his kingdom.
However, things aren't so great in the real world either. Lobotomy. The word sends shivers down backs of many. In many countries and states, the practice is illegal. The affects are usually deadly and paralyzing. Very few have been successful and most have ended badly. Yet, despite all this, the act is well and alive in Denbigh Mental Asylum. Whether it be sooner or later, each child is scheduled to eventually have one. And although many aren't aware enough to fully realize what it is, all know that it can't be anything good. To them, it always seems as though whether they're in an alternate reality or the real world, somebody is always trying to kill them.
Love, drama, violence, and death, this RP will have it all. Anything else? Well, that's up to you. You're the one with the keyboard, so start typing.

Each room is stark white with no personality at all.

Everyone has a roommate in the hopes of promoting socialization.

The dining hall consists of several round tables and chairs.
All doors are locked.
The Town
Winthrop is a tiny town in the Cascade Mountains. They experience rain, snow, and storms year-round. The sun is less common, but heat is rare. It's often a dreary place, although the townsfolk love it there.
The Alternate Reality
It's a seemingly abandoned wasteland actually teeming with all sorts of life, ranging from artificial to natural.
