"Now now, children. Settle down." coos an elderly woman as she sits on her chair in front of a roaring fire. Five children tumble around, giggle, and scream. After some more urges from their grandmother, do they finally sit in a semi-circle in front of her.
"Gramma, gramma, what story are you going to tell us?" asks one little girl. The old lady just smiles kindly, and hushes her granddaughter. Sitting back in her seat, she begins.
"In ancient times, there existed the ruler of all Gods, races, and all beings in general. He went by the name of ------. Now children, I suppose you're wondering why I cannot utter his name? This king, just before his death, cast a strong spell to eliminate his name from those who utter it. It lasts untill this very day. " She smlied at the looks of awe in all five of the youth's faces.
"You are wondering what happened to the king?" All five children nod vigourously. "Well, in those times, death and poverty had struck the land a harsh blow in the face, infecting even the smallest and most humble of peasants, not unlike a plague. And the one and only being responsible for this act of treachery was the One King. Now children, I know what you are all thinking. A group of heroes will come fourth to save them all." She looked over to them, seeing the children all nod. "I'm afraid you are all gravely mistaken...for that evil ruler purged the life of that distant land, far before anyone could muster the courage and power to confront him. He had killed everyone, everything, even himself. That was when he cast this spell that still holds taught to this day." Granny smiled once more to her grandchildren. "Children, I think your mother is calling you for bed, hurry along now."
"Awww, gramma!"
"Just a little longer?"
"Please?"
"It was such a short story!"
The elderly shook her head, still smiling. The children ran off, just as their beloved grandmother resumed her knitting. Sighing, she wondered how the rest of the story went. She couldn't remember, which was why she sent the little ones off. She only remembered about how there were rumors of how the King still lived on, as a spirit roaming the planet.
