The room was dimly lit. The dull spotlight targeted the stage and the podium waiting for the speakers presence. The paitents shuffled in their seats, anxiously await for the speaker to get on stage.

Finally footsteps could be heard walked across the stage. A female stepped into the spotlight. Her thick, curly hair resembled that of a lion's mane. She had ears and a tail to match. She cleared her throat and began to speak.

"For years, we have suffered, awaiting rescue from this prison. None has come. Our existence is unknown by most. We enter this facility and never leave. The pain, the suffering, the repeated torture. How much longer will we put with it? I'm done being a pawn in their game. Are you? There's only one way out. It's dangerous but we can make it. We can escape. We can be the ones who survived. But we can't do it alone. We need to work together, as a team. I say that we escape from this institution. I say we show them exactly what they've created."

She was silent. Roars exploded from the crowd. They stood and were shrieking with joy. The lioness smiled and stepped off of the stage, the crowd still buzzing with thoughts of escape. The next morning, the lioness was brought into the examination room. She did not return.

The previous years.

A few years before the lioness even existed, there were others who stood in her place. Others who went through the torture and experiments. Let me tell you what happened in the previous years.

The setting. Caldwell Institute. A large building in New York City. From the outside it looks like a regular office building, filled with busy workers. From the inside, your opinion of this respectable establishment changes completely.

Caldwell Institute, otherwise known as Caldwell Institute for Human Research, or CIHR. Inside this building lives many captive teens, held against their will they are the test subjects for the scientist who work here. The main focus of CIHR is too develop new ideas for human and DNA research. Their most recent experiments involve combining animal DNA with human DNA. The outcome is a whole new breed of humans, ones with ears, tails, even wings. The government is unaware of their research, as is the rest of the world. The scientist plan to unveil their research once they work out the glitches and create the ‘perfect’ experiments. The tests run on these poor experiments are cruel and usually painful. Most of the teens held here were kidnapped from their home, in some cases parents sold their children to the facility in exchange for large amounts of money. They are kept in cages, similar to dog crates and have no say in what goes on. They are captive.

What’s happening now

After the disappearance of the lioness, plans of escape began to buzz around the minds of the experiments. A special group known as the Revelin (a name meaning pride and rebellion) began meeting in secret to plan their escape. One day, a large storm raged across the city, knocking out the power. The doors to the experiments cages were held shut by electric locks. The scientists raced to power up the generator but before they could the cages opened and their experiments were set free. They ran toward the doors and ran as far away as they could get. Near the city there is a small mountain range. The mountain peek out from the thick forest and are covered in caves. The experiments took shelter in the caves, hoping to wait out the storm. Each of the experiments were part of the Revelin and they wanted nothing more than to stop the scientists from creating any more experiments, they wanted to put a stop to Caldwell.

Back at Caldwell the scientist were furious that their experiments had escaped. All of their work could now be exposed. There was only one way to get them back, the hunters. Hunters were experiments that either failed or become to dangerous to put with the others. They had their minor glitches but were willing to serve the scientists. They were sent out with one mission, to bring the experiments back.

The basics ~ I know it’s said a lot but follow the Gaia’s Tos. It’s not that hard. That means, no cybering, auto hitting, godmodding or anything of the sort. You do that and your out. No warnings involved. Put a heart at the end of your profile to show you read this.

Profiles ~ Pm all profiles to me, Echos_Across. I want you using the skeleton I provided, don’t change anything or leave anything out. That means that if you put ‘unknown’ instead of the bio or something similar you will have to go back and redo your profile until I deem it expectable. Put ‘Caldwell’ as your pm title to show you read this.

Posting ~ This is a semi lit- lit thread. That means I want at least a paragraph (5-7) sentences per post. I understand writers block, but no one liners. If I see that I’ll make you edit your post. Grammar was invented for a reason, so use it. I also want you to speak in third person and if I see an of these *s then I’ll give you a warning. I love pretty posts, so have a post style. It’s more fun to read that way. Put a * next to the pm title to show you read this.

Romance and Violence ~ It’s encouraged. Makes the story more interesting but don’t go overboard. I don’t want to see any cybering. If you have some rare condition where you must cyber with someone, than take it to pms’ otherwise, time skip. Same goes for violence. I love blood and guts as much as the next person, but I don’t want to read a whole page of you stabbing someone. It’s gets annoying. If you are fighting with another character than be fair about it. You are not invincible, you will get hit and hurt. No auto hitting and no godmodding. If I see you doing that than I’ll kick you butt! Put a ninja at the top of your profile to show you read this.

There is a new scientific study is being conducted. It’s been kept secret from the world in high hopes that someday these new drugs would benefit mankind. Of course when testing these drugs they had to have test subjects. Their preferred choice, a group of teens that were sold to the company by willing parents. These experiments were created to give ordinary humans super human abilities, such as speed and control of elements. The drugs were created to stabalize their abilities and help keep them under control. The tests were painful, usually involving them to take heavy doses of the drug and go through multiple physical experiments. They wound up with scares and burns and multiple memories that would forever haunt them

After years of experimenting the scientists finally reached the point where they were satisfied with their work. Their subjects had been isolated from the real world since they were brought in and the scientist were now curious how they would do living in the real world. So the group of teens were released. Many of them died to during experiments and now their were only two for each drug, a male and a female. Those left were blindfolded and taken on a long ride in the back of a van. Each one was released in a different section of New York city, were the scientist could still monitor them through microchips inserted into the teen’s body.

Malfuntions

The group wasn't given any of the stabalizing drugs, the scientists didn't think they needed them anymore. That is until something new was discovered. The scientist were going over the information sent to them via the microchip and found that the lack of drugs was causing their powers to go haywire. Over using their powers ultimately kill them and cause their powers to malfunction. With each ability there were different malfunctions. The scientist didn’t want to see all their hard work going down the drain, they were desperate to get their subjects back, to put them through the experiments once more, and fix their mistakes. They sent out a special group to capture and retrieve the teens before things got out of hands. This special group were only known as the Specialists. They were a secret group who were also put through the experiments but were also trained to obey the scientists. Their powers are weaker than those of the original subjects so there for they were sent out to retreive the group and bring them back alive. Will the teens willingly go back, or will they fight to stay free?

Posting ~ This is a semi lit- lit thread. That means I want at least a paragraph (5-7) sentences per post. I understand writers block, but no one liners. If I see that I’ll make you edit your post. Grammar was invented for a reason, so use it. I also want you to speak in third person and if I see an of these *s then I’ll give you a warning. I love pretty posts, so have a post style. It’s more fun to read that way. Put a * next to the pm title to show you read this.

Romance and Violence ~ It’s encouraged. Makes the story more interesting but don’t go overboard. I don’t want to see any cybering. If you have some rare condition where you must cyber with someone, than take it to pms’ otherwise, time skip. Same goes for violence. I love blood and guts as much as the next person, but I don’t want to read a whole page of you stabbing someone. It’s gets annoying. If you are fighting with another character than be fair about it. You are not invincible, you will get hit and hurt. No auto hitting and no godmodding. If I see you doing that than I’ll kick you butt! Put a ninja at the top of your profile to show you read this.
