lizzie hamilton vs. bryony mccarty
the adventurous girl & newborn vampire
w/ the clutzy girl & human
Lizzie waited for Emmett to give her the go ahead. Even though she was dying with all these animals and the blood around her. He smiled and nodded at her. And after that she took off. Lizzie was much faster than she had expected she would be. It would take her a little while to get used to this speed. To get used to the burning. As Lizzie entered the brush where the little creatures were hiding, she could hear and see Emmett from the corner of her eyes. She was happy about the fact that he was here. Emmett was here if she needed him. Lizzie quickly put all her attention on the little creatures in front of her. Grabbing one of them, she snapped it's neck and quickly began to suck at it's blood. After another bunny and a squirrel she seemed like she was satisfied... for now. Turning back to Emmett, Lizzie moved swiftly and gracefully. She jumped into his arms, and he wrapped his around her. She asked him how she did, and he smiled at her. Emmett told her that she did great. Then he asked her how she felt. Lizzie's brow furrowed as she figured just how to answer that question. I feel... full for now at least." She said, content.
This blood satisfied her thirst only a little bit. These animals didn't smell as good as Rose had at the house. No, no, no, she couldn't think that. That was her best friend! Lizzie wondered how she looked. She hadn't gotten a look at herself since she had been changed. But she knew sort of what she would look like. She would have the pale skin, the hard body, and the beautiful features. The only thing bad about her were her eyes. They wouldn't be her light blue anymore. They would be blood red. But how long would they be like that? She was almost too afraid to ask. Lizzie was almost too afraid to see how she looked. Without warning, Emmett wrapped her in his arms and began taking her somewhere. Lizzie gasped at the sight. She could see everything for miles. "Will I ever get used to this?" She asked. Her voice still surprised her. Emmett took them to a small clearing, and he set her down on a huge rock. She watched Emmett closely. He looked like he wanted to tell her something. Maybe this was what he had been so cryptic about earlier. Lizzie felt his eyes on her, like he was gauging something. This felt weird. Sure it was Emmett, her Emmett. But everyone had been staring at her like that since she had changed.
But Lizzie knew they were all worried about her. And that was only natural. She watched him just as closely as he was watching her. He seemed to be thinking about something. There was a cloud of worry and concern on his face. But within an instant it was gone and his hands were on his hips. He looked sort of funny like that. But Lizzie knew he wanted to tell her something serious. Emmett had never been good with something like this. Then the minutes seemed to drag on forever, before he finally spoke up. He asked her if she remembered when he talked about the Voltauri. Lizzie furrowed her eyebrow as she tried to remember what he had said. Her human memories were fuzzy and clouded. It took her a moment to find the right memory. She nodded her head. What he had told her was very little. And basically it had been a joke. But now he told her what was going on. The Voltauri were coming here to check in on her. But she couldn't forget about Rose or Bella. They would probably want to check in on them too. Then he told her that she shouldn't worry about anything. That she had been changed and that she wasn't causing any harm. That the Voltauri would just tell her their little rules, and try and scare her. Em shrugged as if it was no big deal. But it was! Then he told her not to let them intimidate her, and not to push any buttons.
Lizzie didn't think she would be pushing any buttons if she could help it. And she did notice his wink, it made her smile slightly. But she was more worried than amused. They had so many things to worry about and to fix, and now they had this on top of it all. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Lizzie was just trying to sort through all of this information. And it didn't take her long. With her vampire mind, and vampire reflexes it took a lot less time to wrap her head around things. But she still stayed silent. Lizzie wondered how many of the Voltauri would show up. If they had any powers. And if they did have powers, would they use it on her. What if they didn't think she was a good enough vampire? What if they wanted to kill her right then an there, not even give her a chance? Lizzie knew she should probably say something. Em would probably get worried that she wasn't speaking. And the tension was thick here. Emmett finally broke the silence. He said that it should be too long, and that it should be over quickly. That they just want to check in on her and Rose and Bella, the humans of the group. Then he said that they were pretty sure they are just nervous about our group, and how big it is getting. Then Emmett mentioned how Alice saw that they just send their little henchman to see them. And then he stopped speaking. "Emmett, I'm scared. I know you told me not to be. And not to let them get to me, but well it's a little scary." She admitted, still sitting on the rock. Lizzie looked down and wouldn't look at him. "What if they don't think I'm a good enough vampire? What if they want to kill me right then and there without even giving me a chance? Or what if I do or say something stupid?" She asked. Lizzie began to fidget with her hands. She knew it wasn't a necessary habit but it was one she had done when she was human. And then her other worries were brought to the surface. "And what about my mother. What if they go after her and eat her as a snack because I can't be with her now. I mean what will we tell her about me? We'll have to go away for a bit, you and I." She said. Lizzie didn't even realize she was up off of the rock and was now pacing in front of Emmett. She took deep breaths, smelling the piny freshness that was the forest. "It's just none of this was the perfect timing and I just, I'm scared." She said.
Bryony and Seth were still inside the house. She watched Seth closely for a moment. He seemed to be very relieved to be going outside. Bryony felt more relaxed too. Although it was quite easy for her to feel relieved around his mother. Bryony could already tell she liked the woman. Maybe not Leah, but well, she and Leah would have time to work out their differences. Seth seemed to be thinking about something, although she wasn't sure what he was thinking about. Bryony was just trying to figure out when Leah would come back and what kind of a mood she was in. She hoped that it wouldn't be too soon, but you never knew. Bryony was so absorbed in her own thoughts she hadn't even realized that Seth had gotten up off of his seat, and was now pulling her outside. Once they were out there in the comfort of silence he apologized. Bry lifted a brow in his direction, but he quickly explained that he was sorry about Leah. "It's ok Seth. I knew going into this meeting the family thing wasn't going to be easy. Especially with her." She said, putting a smile on her face. Then he told her not to take it personally. That she was just cranky alot, and that she is super jealous of him imprinting on her. "I get it Seth. But she's your sister and we'll have to learn how to get along with one another. Because I'm not going anywhere, and neither is she." She said defiantly. But then a mischievous spark came into her eye. Lily was having quite the affect on her. "What if Leah had someone who liked her?" Bryony asked, curiously. Maybe if they could set Leah up with someone, the girl wouldn't be so unhappy all the time.
As they were outside, she looked to Seth. Bryony wasn't quite sure what she should do. He grabbed a broom and started brushing off all the dust, leaves, and anything else that was on the table onto the ground. Within a second, Mrs. Clearwater came out with a tablecloth and the dishes that they would need. She said that Jacob and Billy were on the way and that she would be in the kitchen. Bry thanked her, and smiled. It didn't take the two of them long to get the tablecloth on the table. Then they set out the plates. The only thing left to do were set out the cups. But it wouldn't be smart to set those out now, because the wind would just blow them away. They were finally done. And Bryony was satisfied with their little set up. It seemed that Seth was also satisfied with that as well. The young boy was already sitting down and stretching out. She laughed at him.
Then he thanked her for meeting his family. Seth said that he knew it wasn't much, but that he was glad she did. Then he said he was quite sure that his mother already loved her. Bryony blushed, embarrassed by the fact that Seth's mom already loved her. She stepped closer to him, and sat down next to him on the bench. Bryony turned so she was looking at him and smiled. "Seth, you went and met both my mother and my father together. It was only fair that I do the same for you. Plus it wasn't bad at all. There was a slight bump in the road because of Leah. But I love you, and that's never going to change." She said, smiling. Seth reached out for her hand, but then brought it back as a voice came towards them. Bryony pulled away a little and blushed as she saw a tall russet skinned boy, with a smirk on his face. He was telling them to be careful with the PDA. This was obviously Jake then. "Hi..." She said a little awkwardly and shy. Jake just grinned. Then the adults started to come out with the food. Everything looked delicious. They had just started when her phone began to ring.
Bryony blushed and excused herself. She walked a few steps away, knowing full well that both Jake and Seth would be able to hear both ends of the conversation. Her sister started speed talking. Bryony interrupted her sister. "Hold on, slow down." Her sister spoke slower, and told her what was going on. Bry told her sister she would be right over, and to stay at Emily's. Then she walked over to where everyone was, looking at her with concern on their faces. "Seth, can you walk with me to Emily and Sam's house, I have to see my sister. I'm sorry I can't stay for dinner Mrs. Clearwater, there's a problem with my sister." She said, looking embarrassed and sorry. Mrs. Clearwater smiled. "Don't worry dear, we'll just reschedule for some other time." She said. Then Bry looked at Seth, and asked if he was ready to go.
