☻I need you like a heart needs a beat, but that's nothing new.

It had been a week since Benjamin Michael Banks had come to Seattle, Washington. It was just busy enough for his liking. But not very populated by vampires. Althought there had been an army of newborns here not too long ago. But that excited Ben. He liked excitement and danger. He was practically indestructible. Ben had applied for a writers position at the Seattle Tribune, and they had loved him, given him the job on the spot. He was thankful for that. Now he wouldn't have to bribe anyone to give him a position. And he wasn't going to be the errand boy either. Being a vampire had it's perks, you could achieve status and positions others couldn't because of your looks. But Ben wasn't a slacker, because he was beautiful. He worked extremely hard at anything he did. He actually resented being a monster. If Ben had known what would happen to him, the night he had been changed, he would never have stopped to help the woman in the alley. But he had always been chivalrous, and taught to protect women, not to fear them.
It had been another sleepless nights, like every other night, and like every night to come, until some other vampire, or werewolf attacked and killed him. He had hunted the night before, so he wouldn't be very thirsty at all today. Ben would have to go hunting tomorrow though. He couldn't risk exposing himself at his work, after he had just gotten there. Especially not after he found another vampire, that he could easily annoy. But there was something about this vampire, or woman he should really say, because Evangeline was still a woman, even if she was a vampire, a monster like him. Maybe it was the fact that she had trusted her secret with a human. Ben couldn't fathom why she had done this. These were the rules, set up by the Volturi. No human was ever supposed to know about vampires existence. Did she want to incur the wrath of the Volturi? Obviously she did. But Ben couldn't jump to conclusions, he didn't know the entire story. And Evangeline, nor Terra, the human in question, trusted him enough to tell him how she had found out. But by god would he get to the bottom of this.
Evangeline didn't strike Benjamin as stupid, but this was a very stupid move. He wondered if she should call in a favor with Carlisle Cullen, and ask about the Volturi and if they had heard or in their case seen anything involving the Volturi. He shook his head, and lowered his golden eyes. Ben wouldn't stick his nose in someone else's business, and he didn't really like to jump to conclusions before he got all of the facts. He was, after all a great speech writer, and journalist. Ben couldn't tell if he liked Terra or not. He felt like she was a rookie, and needed some training... from him, on how to be a great writer. She had been writing fluff pieces for this paper about how to find the perfect haircut, or why we keep the junk that we do. She needed to write better pieces, more pieces that hit home. He got the keys to his volvo and his messenger bag, and made his way out of his apartment."I guess I'd better be on my way. " He said in his british accent.
Ben always felt the need for speed. He got there in plenty of time. He wasn't the first one there, but he was fairly early. Did that make him appear to be desperate and over eager? Ben hoped that it didn't, but he could never be sure. Walking inside, he was assualted by a million things. The blood of the editor, his heartbeat, and the other heartbeats of the interns who had, like him, gotten here early. Ben sighed. And made his way to his desk. He had strategically made the editor place himself between Terra, and Evangeline. Or Evan as he was going to start calling her. He sat back in his swivel chair, and put his arms behind his head. With a smug smile, he perked up a little as he heard Terra's car, and her heartbeat come in to the parking lot. Boy was this going to be fun.

You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand.

The blaring alarm woke the sleeping brunette from her slumber. Terra Faith Westmoreland was not a morning person. Plus she could never wake up to music, or anything soft, because she always slept through it. The only way to wake the girl up, was for a blaring alarm to sound. This was her morning routine, followed by groaning and stretching, and hitting the snooze button once or twice. Terra pulled the covers off of her head, and placed her bare feet on the soft carpet. Stretching, she went and opened her curtains, and peered out at the dull grey clouds over head.
Next, Terra made her way to her bathroom. She carefully tiptoed herself across the linoleum, and to the rug that was near her shower. Once she had the water running, Terra began to take her clothes off. Stepping in, she let the water cascade down her back. It was sooting and relaxing. She quickly shampooed her hair, it was time like these, Terra wished she was a vampire. If she were, she could already be down with her shower by now. It didn't take her long, to get down with her shower. As she dried herself off, Terra made her way out of the bathroom, and in to her bedroom. There she picked out her clothes and put them on. After twirling around, and admiring herself, Terra thought she looked pretty. Not as pretty as Evangeline though. Her dark hair still damp, and falling in ringlets around her face.
Evangeline was her best friend, and astonishingly enough, a vampire. Evangeline's kind once they transform, become extra pretty. She sighed. Terra only knew two, make that three vampires. Evangeline, Jerome, who had attacked her the year before, and the newest arrival, Benjamin Banks. He rubbed her the wrong way. Benjamin. Jerome had just plain scared her. Thank God Evangeline had destroyed him.
"At least I'll never have to live through something like that again. " She said. Or at least she hoped so. Terra made her way back to her bathroom, and plugged her blow dryer in. It took a little bit longer to do this, because her hair was long and thick. She loved her hair. It flowed, and was easy to style. Once she had done that, Terra put on some cover up, and a tiny bit of eye shadow, with some mascara. Checking her reflection in the mirror, she decided it was time for her to go to the office. Ben would be there today. It would be his first day coming up with a story and working on it. He had shadowed her for a few days, getting to know how it was that the Seattle Tribune ran. He didn't seem to like her, and he obviously didn't have a problem with showing it. But there was something about him, that Terra couldn't help but like about him.
She grabbed her keys and made her way to her beat up car. Getting in, Terra turned the car on, along with the radio, and put the car in drive. She didn't bother putting her seat belt on. She was in a hurry, and needed to get to the office. Terra partly wanted to make sure that Mr. Cheerful didn't do anything stupid, and that she could keep an eye on me. Maybe clear the air between them. Terra wanted to settle their differences, so that they may become friends. She hoped that would be possible. It didn't take Terra long to get to the Seattle Tribune. She pulled up next to Ben's fancy lexus. Of course he'd be here already. And of course he would already know she was here. Terra sighed, and rolled her eyes. Her boots clicking on the pavement, and then on the tile floor of the paper. Ben came in to view and she mustered up her, biggest smile she could, and walked straight up to him. He was lounging in a chair, and had a smug smile on his face. "Having fun?" I asked.

This Is Where I've Come From
- I was born to two loving parents. Renee and Bob Hanson. They had two other children after me. But I was always there favorite. They raised me to be a good Christian girl. Which I was in a sense. I was always the good girl. Always did what I was told to do. They took me to church, taught me to read, and play the piano. Do everything a normal child does. I loved my parents. but I always yearned for more.
As a child I was always friendly, and made friends easily. I loved school. My mother home-schooled us until we were of high school age. But Eastwick is a small town, so I had many friends. Then high school came along. I was nervous at first, but still had my friends from the neighborhood, so I wasn't lonely. I was popular. But don't get me wrong, I wasn't the high school cheerleader, but I wasn't a loner. I was a bookworm. And that's where I met Aaron Holms. A nice Irish Catholic boy. My parents loved him. The night of our senior year prom, we both decided to be a little bold. And stop being the goody-two shoes. Well Aaron never really was a goody-goody, only in the eyes of the parents, did he put on a show.
We slept together that night. A short while after, I discovered I was pregnant. The first person I told, was Aaron. He did the honorable thing, we told our parents, and a few months later, we were married. Then, after that, I had our baby girl, Gillian Marie. After Gillian was born, Aaron continued working in the factory, and I went on to college. I became a nurse and shortly after I passed my nursing exams, I became pregnant with our second daughter, Kyler Elizabeth. We were a happy family. But soon times got tough. The factory shut down, and Aaron lost his job.
Aaron was great for the first couple of months. He was optimistic he would find another job, but soon things turned for the worse. He became discouraged, and turned to alcohol, and many other things that I don't know about. I can tell Aaron doesn't love me anymore, but I love him to much to see our relationship end on such a bad note. Aaron has never brought harm to my children nor I, but I know this isn't a good environment for my children to be raised in. Now I yearn for something more, to fill my life with joy. That bundle of joy will be coming soon, although I do not know it yet. And neither will my husband.
This Is What You Get
- I am a very kind and loving person. I am very emotional. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. I am very motherly, seeing how I am a mother. I am compassionate and intelligent. I strive for knowledge, and am very intelligent. I am polite, and warm-hearted. I am outgoing, but recently I have become distant from people, mainly men. I am calm under pressure, and a quick thinker. You have to be, when you work as a nurse in the hospital. I am funny, and love to laugh. And I never go anywhere without a smile on my face. I tend to keep things bottled up, when I am around my daughters, or people I don't know very well. I try and look like the sun is always on my side, even when it's not.

What I Will Could Tell You...
This Is Where I've Come From
- I was born to two care-free lovers, or so it seemed that way to the public eye. It was a shot gun wedding so to speak. Not because I was already planted in my mother's stomach, but because she was on a deadline. My mother wanted a child, and she wanted a son to carry on her powers. So she met my dad and after only three months of knowing each other, eloped to Vegas.
It seemed like their marriage would last. They were a strong power couple, Dad was wealthy and mom was attractive. Dad never did find out about mom's powers. And shortly after their wedding, I was born. A healthy baby boy. Their only child. Mom was ecstatic, and Dad was proud. Now he would have someone to leave the business to. But as I grew older, and I still hadn't expressed any powers, Mom became discouraged and took it out on my father. Their marriage slowly began to detiriorate, and neither of them thought about me and how this was effecting me. I wasn't always cold and detached from people. I used to be care-free and lively, just like my father. I used to have a spark in my eye.
On my seventtenth birthday, it became too much for my parents to handle. Mom and Dad got in this huge fight and it was finally enough for the both of them. Mom took me and packed up our things that night, and left dad. She filed for divorce two days later. That is when I began expressing my powers, and she began my tutilage of the dark arts. I studied night and day of my craft, and learned to control my powers. It didn't take my mom long to show me the ropes, and bring out the evil in me, she always knew that I had. After that moment I was no longer Damen the little boy. I was Damen, the evil, the great. After about a year, my mother died. I was eighteen at the time, so I was free to do as I chose.
My father contacted me shortly there after, and wanted to reconnect with me. It was because he had terminal cancer, and he wanted to reconnect, because he didn't have much time left. Said he was sorry for the things he had done, or hadn't done. That he hadn't been there for the rest of my childhood. I didn't accept his apology. I was too bitter, and evil to see the hurt I was causing him. He died, a few days after I told him to go to hell. The doctors say that it was the cancer, but deep down, it was because my father had a broken heart. There is a small amount of my humanity left, and secretely I'd like someone to discover it. Now I have moved to Eastwick, where I inherited my father's business. I have sensed there is going to be some changes here in Eastwick, some are beacause of me, and I decide it's time to stop being the wizard of Oz, and start running things in the town my business is actually affecting.
This Is What You Get
- I am a very confident person. Some say a little too cocky, but I say just the right amount. I am a very sexy person. I ooze sex. But I'm not the one woman kind of guy. It takes many women to satisfy me. I am distant from people who I don't know very well, or think that they are the best at everything they are. Mainly because I am that kind of person. I am intelligent, extremely smart. I have been told I can be narcissistic as well. But I just say, 'Narcissis, me?' And laugh it off. There's another part of me. A darker side. This is the side that is predominantly exposed to people. The cunning, sly part. I deal with things of questionable legality, which is also why I tend to stay away from people. I am a private person, and I don't like people sticking their nose in my business.
These Mean More Than You Know
Quiet
People Being hurt because of me
Pain
Suffering
There's a Reason I Avoid These
Peace
Happiness
Humanity
Noise
They Are Better Forgotten
People defeating me
Someone finding my humanity
Being destroyed
