- - - [ the princesDRAGON Ephraim Crownwing ![]() A dragon of pure white sailed in the early morning sky, his body collecting little droplets of the early morning mist. They froze the minute they connected with his body though, to form little circular crystals, adding to the beauty of this majectic creature. Though fearsome to look upon, this ice dragon was beautiful as well, and as he looked down at all the farmers and other folk who were going about their morning, he watched them all look upon him in awe, smiling and waving, for he was not a creature which these humans had learnt to fear. He was the Prince's dragon, and everyone in the land of Eden knew him. Even now the other dragons of the land, who were still in their human form, were smiling and waving vigourously at him. But he had no time for mindless chatter. So instead he turned, which might have seemed impossible for his body was so big, his long wings extending to take air within them as he headed back for the castle. No one, not even the servants, would be up and about now, but he figured it best that he not keep the others waiting. He knew his Prince would be late, for he was definitely not a morning person, but that was no excuse for himself to be late. The dragon landed in the training zone of the castle, shaking off the frozen droplets and watching them scatter around the grounds, making the whole yard shine due to the sun that hit and reflected off of them. The dragons body seemed to shimmer, to fade, and before long, in its place stood a man. Long, silver hair with a hint of blue in it fell down the mans naked form, tickling against the skin on his chest and sticking lightly to his back. Eyes which had been closed slowly opened to reveal ice blue irises as he looked around for the towel he'd placed here earlier. Spotting it, he walked over, his feet not making a single sound as they fell down to the soft earth. The dragon turned man began to wipe his body of the dampness which it had accumalated in his morning flight, before wrapping the towel around his body and slipping silently into the castle. Only now were the servants beginning to waken, to prepare for the approaching day. After all, quite a day it would be. It was the day that their prince, Prince Aiden, would go out on his journey to reunite humans and dragons across the land. The man smirked as he passed servants whispering about it. Yes, quite a journey it was going to be. Ephraim stood in the room which was joined with the prince's room, looking through his closet for something suitable to wear. He knew he was expected to dress well for the start of their journey, though really it annoyed him to no end to dress in these flimsy clothes when he would much prefer to dress in something more comfortable. But Ephraim merely sighed and shook his head as he reached out, grabbing the clothes which the queen had prepared for him. He quickly dressed in them, before walking over to the mirror and grabbing one of the many silver hair adornments that rested there. Due to the length of his hair, he always had to keep it out of his face, though today he decided he'd keep it down for the most part. So he simply grabbed some of the silver strands, pulling them back into a half pony tail. The rest of his hair merely fell around his face, framing his cold features well as he stared at himself in the mirror. Unlike some of the other people going on this journey, he couldn't quite say he was looking forward to it. In fact, you could say that he was hating the very idea of it. But he knew his Prince was going, and where his Prince went, so did he. That was the job that came with being the Princes Dragon. But that was not the only duty of the Princes Dragon. He also needed to make sure everything else was properly set up for the day, and for the coming weeks. He could not afford to sleep in like some. Ephraim glanced over at the door which joined his room to the Princes, and decided he would check on the child. Pushing the door open, he walked into the room to see blankets strewn about the bed and the Prince sleeping comfortably, even though he was only covered by a simple blanket. Really, Ephraim had no idea how this child managed to throw absolutely every last blanket off of the bed, especially when there were so many of them. Sighing, he decided it was a good thing he'd decided to check on the male. Leaning down, he began to pick up the blankets, shaking them of any dirt before throwing them back over the Prince's form and tucking them around him. Ephraim was forced to take a step back when the Prince suddenly turned, muttering something. But he was pleased to see that the man hadn't awoken. Could he really have expected that the man would? The sun was barely over the horizon yet. The queen would have a heart attack if the Prince woke up at this time of day. Smiling lightly at the thought, Ephraim went over to the window to open it just a crack, letting in some fresh air. Looking around, he picked up the clothes from the previous night, picking them up and folding them before placing them on a chair in the corner. Satisfied with how the room looked, he gave one last glance at the Prince before bowing his head at the sleeping male and slipping out of the room. There was still so much for him to do before the morning meal. Maybe he shouldn't go to it. No...No, the King and Queen would not be pleased with that. And neither would the Prince. No, especially not the Prince. But perhaps he would come late. He really didn't like such events. Far too...warm. Frowning at that, Ephraim merely pushed the thought from his mind. He'd see how long it took to do his tasks, and then he'd decide whether or not he was going to go to this breakfast. Well, it was more of a brunch really. Or it would be, by the time the Prince awoke. Shaking his head at the thought, he reminded himself to try and wake the Prince up. But he already had many things to do, and at the thought of having to wake the Prince, a look of annoyance entered his eyes. Really, he was sure the man could wake himself up, at least for today. So Ephraim headed for the stables. His first task was to check on the horses they would be taking. Yes, they could have jus thad the humans ride on the Dragons back, but some countries were not as accepting of human dragon relationships as Eden was, and so it would not be wise for them to travel like that. Faster yes, but not as wise. So they were taking horses. Of course, they were the best the kingdom had to offer, but Ephraim still would have felt better simply flying. But then again, when was the last time the Prince had ridden him? Probably when he was four, when they'd escaped so long ago. He was unsure whether or not the Prince would be able to fly on his back, or if he'd be comfortable with it. Perhaps it was best they were taking horses. By the time Ephraim was done with the horses, people were bustling around, servants preparing for the coming feast. Ephraim glanced up at the Prince's window, and could tell that the man had yet to awaken. Pulling his eyes back down, away from the mans window, he began to walk towards his next destination. The armory. They would, of course, be brining some weapons with them. The world was not a friendly place. So Ephraim made a quick stop there, to make sure that everything was in order. He was reassured that it all was, and when he was satisfied that they were telling the truth, Ephraim turned away from the armory, and began to walk off to where the servants were placing all the items that they would be taking on this journey. It wasn't much, for they couldn't take much without garnering too much attention from people like thieves and the like. So they were only taking what their horses could carry. But Ephraim still needed to take inventory. So, picking up the list of the top pile of things, Ephraim began to look through the things, double checking the food to make sure nothing was spoiled, nor poisoned. You could never be too careful with these kind of things. He also recounted the money and clothing, making sure no greedy servant had run off with anything that belonged to the Prince or their companions. Content that everything was finally all done and looked after, Ephraim once again glanced up towards the Prince's window. And this time he was greeted by the sight of the man, looking up at the sky. Frowning, Ephraim looked away. He could purely understand the mans love of the sky, especially when he'd been kept in the dark for a year. But it wasn't a healthy fascination. Sighing, Ephraim realized that he really was far too good at what he did, for now he had nothing left to keep him from going to the feast which would be held in the dining hall. But perhaps he could still find something to distract him from it, if only for a little while. And so Ephraim went off in search of the head servant, the one who took care of everything, to tell him that he'd checked on the horses and taken the inventory, so they need not worry about it. It took awhile to actually find the man though, for he was constantly moving about. But finally Ephraim managed to locate him scolding one of the younger servants. It looked like he was also not having the best of mornings. Ephraim waited silently in the shadows as he watched the man talk to the servant boy, before sending the male scurrying off to do some other task. Stepping away from the shadows, Ephraim walked up to the male, and saw the man literally jump when he called out to him. Ephraim had never really enjoyed talking to others, especially of the servant variety, and made quick work of reporting to the man. Now he really had nothing to keep him from the brunch. Sighing in defeat, Ephraim turned back towards the castle, walking in the general direction of the dining hall. But once he was inside, he decided to take a detour. One final distraction. He would see if the Prince was properly dressed, and if his room was tidy. And if not, he would make sure things were orderly and presentable. When the dragon entered the Prince's room, he was, for once, happy to see that the man had, of course, left it a mess. Smiling a rare smile, Ephraim leaned down and began to organize the mans room, noting how he had once again messed up the bed and had also made a mess of the closet. Unfortunately, such things did not take long to fix, and before long things were looking clean. Sighing, Ephraim truly knew that this was the last possible thing he could have done before heading for the brunch the King and Queen had invited everyone too. So turning, he opened the door, once again slipping out of the Prince's room, though this time he was heading for the dining room to enjoy a meal rather then to check up on things. Ephraim found himself standing outside the door of the dining room far too short a time later, and sighing, he pushed the doors open, sliding in. He glanced around the room, seeing that everyone else was there. When the King looked up from his meal, Ephraim merely bowed his head at the man, before moving to take his spot beside the Prince. He stared down at the food on his plate, sighing inwardly. But he picked up his fork anyway and began to eat, a lot more properly then the Prince was. But he decided he would let the Prince off of it for today. After all, it was his big day. Ephraim nearly cringed at the thought. ![]() |
