"Dakota! Hurry up, or we're going to be late" Glancing up at Penny, the books in my hands were about to fall out. I had about five books in my hands, along with a thick three-inch binder balancing on my knees. Steadily gripping all the books and binders, I gently closed my locker. The lunch bell had just rang, and I have about two minutes to make it to drama before the tardy bell rang. "Hurry!" As I watched her run down the hallways, I began to pick up the pace. Not looking down, I didn't realize that someone had purposely placed their foot in front of me. Suddenly, my books went flying everywhere, as my I landed face down in the middle of the crowded hallway. Picking myself up, the first thing I heard were girls laughing and pointing at me. The fall wasn't too painful, except I'm pretty sure I got a bruise on my knee. Oh well. I was used to this by now. Being the preacher's daughter only made me vulnerable towards others, though I'm not that defenseless. Gathering up all my supplies, I ignored their comments and began running down the hallway towards Ms. Garber's classroom. Surprisingly, I made it just before the bell rang. Emerging from her office, Ms. Garber clapped her hands. "Class, gather up the chairs and form a circle around me. Chop. Chop." Placing all my books on the table behind me, I began to help the rest of the students place the chairs in a circle. Ms. Garber always like the whole concept of a "ritual circle". She was a pretty cool teacher, with his amazing environmentalist ways.

Taking my usual seat which was located left of no one and right next to Penny, Ms. Garber was about to begin telling the class which play we were going to be presenting this year. "Now, this might be a challenge, but I decided that we should do West Side Story!" Suddenly gasps were heard throughout the classroom. As my eyes observed the scene, I already noticed that my classmates were already set on a part. "It's a play full of drama, forbidden romance, gang fights, and not to mention racism! I know, the decision of changing the play was a bit last minute, but I think we can pull it off two weeks from now. " As Ms. Garber emphasized each of her words, I leaned over to Penny who looked like she was about to jump from her seat. "Which role are you going to tryout for?" I asked her, even though I already she she was going for the lead. While waiting for an answer, I began to fiddle with the ends of my pink dress. "Maria of course, silly." She stated with a smile on her face. Penny was quite an actress. Give her any role in a play and she'll be able to perfect it and turn it into the greatest play you have ever seen. Watching her expression change into an even brighter smile, I leaned back into my seat. "Pass these papers around. I want you to pick at least three roles that you would like to play as. Put the numbers one, two, and three next to your top three choices." Ms. Garber stated, as she began to pass papers out to both sides of the circle. "And, don't worry. Everyone is guaranteed to have a part."

Glancing behind my shoulder, I checked to see if my books was still on the table. Directing my attention to the paper heading my way, I pulled out a pencil from my bag which was conveniently located underneath my seat. Receiving the papers, I stood up from my seat and walked over to Daniel, who was sat in the seat next to the empty one beside me. "Thanks Dakota." He stated with a sheepish smile on his face. "You're welcome." I smiled back before heading back to my own seat. Nervously tapping my pencil on the paper, I glanced up and noticed everyone busily writing away. Even Penny was almost finished. Taking a deep sigh, I honestly didn't know who to play as. I knew the basics of the play, but I never actually took the time to throughly read through each character's bio. One by one, everyone stood up and gave their papers to Ms. Garber. Closing my eyes, I randomly decided to mark the numbers on the paper. Opening my eyes at the sight, I only caught a glance at what I jot down before Ms. Garber took my paper from my lap.

"Class, we have just found our leading lady!" Suddenly all eyes were on me, as my own eyes grew wide at the statement. "Ms. Garber, a-are you talking about me?" I asked, while blinking. "Yes, Dakota. You are going to be playing as Maria." The next thing I knew, the class was clapping. They were happy for me. Looking over towards Penny, she had a look of disappointment on her face. "Congrats.." She stated as she crossed her arms. It was unbelievable. I wasn't expecting to get the leading role. My acting skills couldn't even compare to how good Penny was. In fact, I was pretty decent when it came to acting. I excel in singing, rather than acting. "Penny, you're going to be playing as Anita." I watched her roll her eyes at the statement. "Great. Anita." Before Ms. Garber got the chance to announce the rest of the roles, the phone suddenly rang. Leaving the room, the class began to talk about how excited they were for the play, along with which characters they choose. I was still in shock, as everyone around me continued talking.

No one noticed when Ms. Garber walked back inside the room. She did get everyone's attention when she clapped. "It seems that we're getting a new addition to our cast and crew today." Mixed expressions of shock and confusion were on the faces of everyone in the room. Unknown to who this new mysterious person was going to be, I crossed one leg over the other. "Picking up where we left off. Daniel. You're going to be Bernado, the leader of the Sharks." As she continued to assign roles, I couldn't help but wonder who was going to join our class at such late notice. Now, books were being passed out to everyone. The moment I received mine, I quickly scanned through the pages. There were not only acting parts, but there were also singing parts. I stopping at the scene of where Maria and Toni met. "Ms. Garber?" I asked, while raising my hand. "Yes, Ms. Simmons?" Pursing my lips, I asked her my question. "You haven't picked a Toni yet."

"Oh, I know. Our new studen-" The moment she stopped talking, everyone looked over at the entrance of the drama room. Suddenly, the room's atmosphere changed as everyone stared in shock. It was Caleb. Caleb Felker. Looking straight at the seat next to him, he sat down right now to me. "Class, I would like you to meet our leading actors! Caleb will be playing as Toni, the co-leader of The Jets who falls in love with Maria, who is going to be played by Dakota. Maria is Bernardo's, the leader of The Shark's, sister. Both groups are known to cause chaos on the streets and they greatly despise each other. If you skim through your book, you'll figure out how dramatic and how heart clenching the story actually is." Shaking my head back and forth, I was annoyed. There was no way we were going to successfully present this play in two weeks in front of the whole school, with Caleb as the leading actor. "Hmm, he doesn't seem too thrilled." Okay, he was probably here for getting in trouble, which was pretty normal for the guy. And, this was probably going to be his punishment, but out of all the characters Ms. Garber could have choose for him, she had to pick Toni. The character my character falls in love with. Great. This is just wonderful. I mean I'm not upset or anything but, I have to at least say hi or something. I had to think of something to help him brighten up. Turning towards him, I smiled. "Hi Caleb. I'm Dakota." I placed my hand in front of him. A friendly handshake would hopefully lighten up his mood.

occ: i just randomly picked West Side Story. xD here are some useful links: script and wikipedia. or, we could just make up the lines. (:

she's fresh to death, she'll be the death of you.
      seduction leads to destruction.

"Leo! Wait!" Too late, he was already outside and heading through the crowd. Watching him ignore the paparazzi, she continued to watch him until his figure blended in with everyone else's. Okay, so Leo left. Remembering what she suggested, Ziniada smacked herself on her forehead. "Damn. Stupid idea. Sorry." Noelle was right. There was no way they were going to sneak out without getting caught by the strict staff. Plus, if her parents found out. She would be in deep s**t. And, that's not necessarily a good thing if you have a mother like Brooke Edwards Vladamir, with an extremely bad temper. Her father on the other hand, wasn't too strict, but if you got him mad, well it isn't exactly pretty either. Pursing her lips, she tried to think of another plan, but nothing came to her head. "I guess it's just us then." Zini stated as she looked at Ash, Noelle, and Megan.

"Let's just go. I don't think the reporters would be much of a big deal..." Her voice trailed off, as she noticed Libby along with the guys heading over. "We better get going now. And, I can't give any other suggestions, since my I'm drawing a blank." The Vladamir suggested, as she began walking. Not looking behind her, she walked outside the colossal doors to find tons of reporters surrounding her. "Princess Ziniada!" Stopping dead in her tracks, her eyes grew wide at the word 'princess'. "Excuse me?" She questioned the reproters. 'What the hell?' Shaking her head back and forth, she continued to push through the crowd of reporters.
"How are you liking Paris at the moment?"
"Are your parents enjoying the vacation?"
"How is King Demetri handling his family issues?"
"What's life like back in England?"
"Are you ready to take the throne when your father ages?"
It was no use. They were practically toppling over her. Shoving her way through the crowd, she finally looked behind her and noticed Ash and Noelle with the same expressions on their faces. "Ash! Noelle! Hurry up." She yelled over the crowd. Not knowing if they heard her, she continued to push through the reporters, until she finally found an exit.

Running down the sidewalk, she noticed the paparazzi were still following her. "DAMN IT!" The teen yelled as she ran into an alley way. Hiding behind some trash cans, she closed her eyes. Hopefully they would keep running straight. Hearing the footsteps crash against the concrete, she inhaled and exhaled. Then the footsteps faded. Pulling out her iphone she quickly texted everyone to make sure they were okay.

I don't know what the hell that was,
                                                but are you guys okay?
                                                Where are you?
                                                -- Zini

Emerging from the alley way, she looked right and noticed the Cafe was just down the street. With a smile on her face, she had successfully outran the paparazzi. Looking both ways for any more reporters, she gently sighed when she noticed that no one was following her. Casually straightening out her skirt, she walked out the alley and blended in the crowd walking on the street. On her way, she looked at the buildings she passed. Majority of them were either family owned restaurants, shops, or hotels. Entering the cafe, she noticed Leo sitting down at a table with a menu in hand. Taking the seat right across from him, she dropped her purse on the table in frustration and confusion. "Leo, just what the hell were the reporters for!?" She began as her voice rose. Not caring about who heard, she desperately wanted answers. "Is there something about me that I don't know?" She began, with her teeth clenching. "Tell me now. Damn it, Leo! ******** tell me know!"

      tonight i'm finding a way,
to make the things that you say,
      just a little less obvious.

"Zini, that's the dumbest idea I've ever heard you come up with yet." The seventeen-year-old bluntly stated, as he watched Leo leave. There was no way he was going to participate in that plan. Already having been told by the staff to be quiet, he shuddered at the idea of him getting caught by his parents. His dad's lecture would be okay. It was his mom's that frightened him. Carlina could go on and on about how bad he was and not get tired of doing so. Just like how she would constantly read the same romance novel and quote it every day. "See even my brother, thought it was well stupid." Watching her smack her forehead, made him laugh. Leave it to Ziniada to come up with something stupid and yet hit herself in the end. Looking around he noticed that Libby and her group of guys haven't left yet. Honestly, Ash wasn't that much of a jealous person. Though, when he noticed how big the group got, she was a little irritated. Okay, maybe a lot more than a little. "Yup, it's just us." He stated, while also glancing at everyone who was in their group. It was just him, Zini, Noelle, and Megan. Feeling his phone vibrate, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his Blackberry.

                                                We guys like to procrastinate.
If you haven't already noticed with Cyrus.
Armani? Okay, I'll take that into considerate.
                                                Thanks Libby (:
Even though I'm nothing without my pink tie,
                                                I'll ditch it tonight.
                                                -- Ash
P.S. Two dances are totally fine with me.

"Let's just go. I don't think the reporters would be much of a big deal..." Ash's expression suddenly turned into a mix of shock and confusion. "Zini." He began to state while trailing behind her. "You can't be serious?!" Too late. She had already walked into the crowd of reporters and photographers. Flash. Ash turned around behind him to notice a camera right in his face. Flash. Again another shot was taken, this time the flash was blinding. As Ash drew his hands to his face. He rubbed his eyes to get the light out of them. Looking up from his hands, he noticed tons of people crowding him and asking him questions. With all the questions being shouted over each other, the only things he could make up were him being the prince of Italy. Him. The prince of Italy? "Wait." He stated as tons of tape recorders appeared in front of him. "I'm a prince? The prince of Italy?" Looking up at the reporters, he noticed them giving him looks of confusion. "Yes, you are the prince of Italy. Ashby Calvano Paxon."

Crossing his arms over his chest, he quietly stood there and added everything together. The whole idea of a trip to Paris. If his family were normal, there would be no way that they could afford being able to stay at a hotel as extravagant as this. Along with the fact at how his mother doesn't like to discuss about her past. Not to mention how long it takes Leo to meet up with him. Blinking at the thought, he was royal. This whole time his parents didn't tell him. Ash didn't know whether or not to feel frustrated as his parents or amazed. After hearing more questions, the seventeen-year-old Paxon couldn't take it anymore. Frustration had taken over. He began to push his way through the reporters as the cameras continued to flash. Hearing Zini say something in the distance, made him even more determined to meet up with Leo and demand for answers. Ignoring all statements that were directed towards him, he continued to push through until he found an exit. Without thinking he just ran for it. He didn't know where the cafe was, but they were going to meet up there. With no idea as to where Zini, Noelle, or Megan were at the moment. He continued running until he noticed the cafe right across the street.

Stopping in his tracks, he pulled out his phone and noticed it was from Zini.
I think I know what it is.
I'll tell you what I think when I get there.
                                                I'm outside the cafe.
                                                -- Ash

Heading straight inside, he instantly heard Ziniada's voice demanding answers from Leo. Casually taking a seat right next to his brother, he took the menu from his grip and began to scan through the selection. Hearing his cousin almost cry out in hysterics, he gently placed the menu down on the table and cross his hands. "We're royalty." These past sixteen years, Ash didn't know how to present his sudden discovery. Turning towards his brother, his face turned into a cold expression. "We're royalty, aren't we?" He began, "You probably thought I was too young to handle the truth, huh? Leo, thanks for keeping this from me." He sarcastically stated as he kicked the chair in front of him. Good thing no one occupied that chair, for if someone did he probably would have kicked them in the shin. Real hard.

"One Alien burger with a chocolate shake?" The eighteen-year-old male asked, while jotting down the customer's order. "Yeah, that's it." Tucking the pencil behind his ear, he closed the notebook and smiled at the customer. "It'll be out in a few." Turning away from the kitchen, Trent heaved a sigh. Summer these days was nothing but boring. There was absolutely nothing to do out here in the middle of Roswell. For miles all you could see was nothing but desert, orange brownish sand, and cactuses. All in all, it was a great place--well it was to Trenton Ian Knight, son of the Knight family and head owner of Roswell's Castle Diner. They were a fairly new business that had just opened at the beginning of summer, and they were extremely successful. It had already been two months into summer vacation. Sadly, today was the last day Trent would have any freedom before heading back to high school for his senior year. "Trent, dude. We seriously need to come up with some senior year stuff. You know, some ideas or what now." Looking over at Brendon Wales, his best friend, he smirked at the comment. "Yeah, let's just hope we can find you the right girl for prom, eh?" He stated while nudging his elbow into Brendon. "Yeah, dude whatever. It's not like you're going to find ms. perfect anytime soon." Rolling his eyes, he walked behind the counter and placed the order on the kitchen window. "You never know Brendon. You never know."

Yeah, this year he was hopefully going to find the girl of his dreams.
                      Hopefully.

The rest of the day had been nothing but chaotic for the two seniors. Taking orders left and right, while customers demanded for more ketchup or mustard. Every now or then he would hear tourists talking about the Roswell rumor. The rumor that aliens landed in this city some twenty years ago. Smirking at their stories, he walked over to their table. "Oh, the Roswell story is true. My great grandfather William witnessed it with his own eyes. He said that it was nothing like he had seen before. There was a huge, wait. No, not huge. Colossal flash of light. Then all of a sudden this UFO flew out of no where and landed right next door to his house. Call me crazy, but we have pictures. Would you like to see one?" Pulling a picture out from his pocket, he gave it to the two men sitting at the table. "Whoa Tom. This is freaky." One guy stated, as he kept looking at the picture. The other guy was trying to see if this was some sick joke the town created to scare the tourists. "This is no joke, sir." Trent stated, with a believable expression. Watching the two men's expressions, he crossed his arms. 'Man, these guys are idiots.' Getting the picture back, he tucked it away in his apron pocket before heading back behind the counters. "You're pulling that stunt again?" Brendon asked, while scooping some chocolate ice cream into a bowl. "Hell yeah. It's like they're not going to believe it anyways."

This town even had their own museum dedicated to the extra terrestrials themselves. If he wasn't working here at the Castle Diner, he would have probably taken the open spot at the museum as a tour guide. With is unique way of persuading and manipulating people, it was the perfect job for him. Unfortunately, his parents though otherwise. At least he's getting the same amount of pay, but he would rather be tricking people into believing the naive tale about the alien landing, rather than taking orders in their own home. "Dude, look." Brendon stated, as his eyes were suddenly fixated at the entrance of the diner. Looking up from his notebook, he noticed a particular trio that he had seen around school before. He never really noticed them, since they often disappeared, but this was the first time he was able to observe them. Two girls, and one guy. Noticing the resemblance between the guy and the short haired girl, he could instantly tell that they were siblings. The other? Possibly a close friend. As he watced them take a seat at a booth, two mysterious looking men dressed in black cloaks headed inside "Dude, go to their table." Staring at the trio, he didn't even notice the men walk straight up to the counter.

"Hello. Uh. Trent." The man stated, as Trent's attention went straight to the tall man in front of him. "Uh, hi?" He stated, while trying to look at the group behind the man. Suddenly, a gun was pulled out of the man's pocket. "Give me the money." Trenton's arms rose to the air, as sweat began to poor down his face. "I said, GIVE ME THE MONEY, DAMN IT!" Now, the gun was facing towards Brendon, as Carson went behind the cash register and pulled out wades of cash. Brendon stood in shock at the sight, as he dropped the blender. Crashing to the ground, people screamed as his counterpart also pulled out his gun. "Calm down." Trent began to say, while his voice cracked. "Will you leave if I give you the money?" The seventeen-year-old questioned, as his hands shook with fear. This was the first time he had ever been involved with a life-death situation. Honestly, he really would rather be alive than dead at the moment. Watching his expression, the man smirked before pulling the trigger.

                      'BAM'
Trenton had been shot with a gun.

All hell broke loose in the diner. Chairs were thrown everywhere, as the two guys grabbed the wads of cash before leaving in a black truck. Immediately falling to the floor, the sounds of piercing screams were heard throughout the diner. As, people rushed outside. Some called the police, some barged inside his own home to tell his parents, while others just stood there shocked. Even Brendon was screaming, as he hid underneath the counter. Seeing his life flash before him, his eyes began to fade away into darkness. He had been shot straight in the chest. Being shot in the chest was a death sentence. There was not hope of saving him now, unless some miracle came walking by and some how took the bullet out of his chest. Like that kind of event, would happen right?

Okay so, here I was now preparing to rehearse an entire act with Caleb. I have never sang in front of people at school before. I've only sang at church. With the crowd probably doubling, I didn't mind. This was going to be interesting, for I was willing to take the challenge. Supposedly Maria has this beautiful high pitched voice, that sounds like an opera singer. I can't sing like an opera singer. That's a fact. Some of my friends from church once told me that I had a voice of an angel, but I don't really think I do. Angels are magnificent, and I'm pretty sure my mother is watching me right now from her cloud in heaven. She died during child birth. It was either she would live, or I would die or the other way around. Sometimes I wish it were the other way sometimes. It's so that way dad would be happier, but he seems perfectly happy with how his life is going at the moment. Every time I try to ask him about mom, he takes the time to tell me interesting stories about them. Where they met, to how their love began. The stories were truly magical. Dad also told me that mom had this beautiful voice, so that probably explains where I got it from. And, I'm very thankful for at least getting mom's beautiful singing voice, since I can't even remember her at all.

"Alright, I think we should start with scene four, when they first dance, and everyone is there!" Instantly, I began to flip through the book until I came across scene four, the scene where Maria and Toni meet. Reading through the text, I knew this was just acting. What was about to be said between us, meant nothing. Absolutely nothing. As I silently read along with Jacob, who was playing as the Glad Hand. Quickly glancing at Penny, she seemed just about as bored as Caleb looked at the moment. I feel kind of bad that she didn't get the part, but I've never heard Penny sing before. Now that I mention it, she doesn't like talking about singing too much. When the Glad Hand finished his first line, the Snow Boy entered the scene. Trying to remember how the movie went, the script kind of corresponded with it, though I didn't remember a Glad Hand or a Snow Boy being in the movie--but yet again. Movies were sometimes different from the book, or in this case script. Next was Caleb's entrance. After the little conversation between the Glad Hand and the Snow Boy the room grew quiet. Looking up from my book, I noticed that everyone was looking at Caleb. Possibly waiting for him to say his lines. Directing my attention back to the book, my lines were next. Right after Caleb began with an "Uh.." Majority of the people in this room were probably thinking that there was no way we were going to master this play in a span of two weeks. I on the other hand, thought otherwise.

"You're not thinking I'm somebo - one - else?" He messed up his lines. This wasn't the first time our class had to deal with someone who couldn't memorize their lines, we were practically use to it, but when it comes to a point where the person doesn't care, then we decide to do something about it. That "something" just involves a group of us talking with Ms. Garber. It's nothing more than that. We don't sabotage people or hurt them, we just try our best to help them out. Gently sighing, I looked up from my script and looked at Caleb in the eyes. "I know you are not." Crossing on leg over the other, I straightened my back as the chairs began to feel uncomfortable. If the school had enough money to supply ten computers per classroom, then how come they couldn't purchase comfortable chairs for drama? "or that we have met before?" With the book in my left hand, I continued to look at Caleb with this serious expression on my face. Hopefully, this expression will tell others that I'm portraying Maria decently. Gently blinking at him, I opened my mouth to say my next set of lines. "I know we have not." Turning away from Caleb I look straight at Ms. Garber.

"Well, since we can't exactly being with the movements yet, let's go back to the beginning. Don't mind the movements, let's just start with the text. Sterling, please start reading as Krupke." As everyone flipped through their books, I was beginning to wonder why she had us to only a little part of scene four. Was it to see if Caleb and I had some chemistry? Rolling my eyes at my own thought, I stopped at page one, scene one. Noticing that my character wasn't introduced until scene three, I remained silent as everyone began taking turns at reading their parts. Every now or then, I would glance at Ms. Garber who seemed to have a pleased expression on her face. Maybe I was right. Maybe we would be able to handle this situation, and present a decent play to the entire school. Peaking at what Caleb was doing, he didn't seem to enjoy being here. Since every now or then, the chair would creek because of how he was constantly moving. He was probably trying to find a comfortable way to sit, but of course with cheap chairs there was no way you would ever find a comfortable way of sitting. The only thing I could do now was just silently read along with everyone else.

Glancing at the clock that rested right above Ms. Garber's desk, it was five minutes until three o'clock. Five minutes until school was over. "Class, since we only have two weeks from today to get our lines memorized, I am assigning partners. With your partner I expect you to find a way to practice your lines together. It can be after school, during school, before school whatever. It's all up to you. " Ms. Garber stated as everyone began to pick up their chairs and stack them on top of each other. Reaching for my purse, I placed it on my shoulder before bringing my chair over to where everyone else was placing it. "Penny. You and Daniel are together." Ms. Garber began, as she went straight down the list of people. "Lastly, I would like our two leads to be partners." And with that the bell rang, as everyone left the classroom. Gathering up my books from the table, I placed them inside my bag and headed out the door. If Caleb really wanted to be my partner, then he would have show me that he was wiling to take this seriously. Heading back to my locker, I pulled out my Calculus book before closing it shut. Pulling out a note from my bag, I had to get the groceries today. Scanning over the list, I began walking down the hallway until I accidentally bumped into someone. "Watch it B***ch!" Looking up at the girl, I blinked. "Sorry." My eyes immediately went down to look at my ballet flats. "Sorry just won't ******** cut it." Taking my bag she flung it straight in the trash can, before walking off. Closing my eyes, I gently sighed. Walking over to the trash can, I began to dig around for my bag. Finally finding it, I noticed it was completely covered in condiments. Behind me I could hear people laughing at me for digging through the garbage, but honestly I just didn't care. Fleeing the scene, I ran straight to my car and threw my bag right next to me in the passenger's seat. Bringing my hands up to the steering wheel, I knew I couldn't handle it. All the embarrassment, bruises, and torture I've been dealing with ever since middle school. I couldn't take it anymore. Resting my head against the wheel, I began to cry. In the middle of the parking lot. I just wanted to go home more than anything, but my hands wouldn't move.

occ: whoa, that's way better than the one i found. thanks Enn (:

Waking up to the bright sunshine wasn't exactly how Carson Jamerson wanted to begin his first day in Chicago. Rolling over in his bed, he continued to deny the fact that he had to get up and get ready for his first day at school. Suddenly, his alarm clock rang. Moaning at the 'beep' 'beep', he slowly opened his eyes and turned off the clock. Sitting up in his bed, he rolled his eyes at the sight. He was expecting to be back home in good old sunny Florida, but no. Ever since his father landed a new job in the windy city, he was forced to move up north. His parents completely forced him against his will. "Damn.." Yawning at the sight of his new room, he stood up from his bed and headed straight into the bathroom with today's outfit in hand. If he had it his way, he would just lie in bed and forget school for today, but no. His parents would kill him if he skipped school. After all, his parents wanted their only son to have a good education. He wasn't that bright when it came to school, but at least he was able to excel in math and science. Those two subjects happened to also be his favorites. English and history could just ******** die for all he cared. He despised them more than anything.

Emerging from the bathroom fully dressed, he ran a hand through his blonde hair before admiring himself in the mirror right next to his closet. Looking at his reflection, he rolled his eyes at the sight. It was way too early to be heading over to school. Back in Florida, school started at 9:00, so he could get at least two more hours of sleep unlike here. Reaching for his brown Element backpack, he headed down stairs to face his parents. Dropping his bag at the bottom step, he headed into the kitchen where he found his mother drinking her coffee across from his father who was busily reading today's newspaper. "Good morning sweetie." Looking up at his mom he smiled. Even though smiling was the last thing he wanted to do at the moment. "Morning." Walking over to the pantry, he pulled out some Fruit Loops and placed them on the table. Pulling a bowl from the cabinet, along with the milk from the fridge, he began to fix himself a decent breakfast. Bringing his meal to the table, he sat down in the seat that was in between his parents. "Morning kiddo." His father stated while glancing up from the paper.

Smiling at his father, he began to gulf down his cereal. Checking the time, he seemed to be forty-five minutes early for his first day. Placing the bowl in the sink, he grabbed his bag on the stairs, and said bye to his parents. "Have a nice day!" Grabbing the keys to his car, he left the house and headed outside. "Yeah, right." He began to state, while he sighed in between. "I'll probably have the worst ******** day of my life..." Getting into his car, he heaved a deep, heavy sigh. "Fml." Fml was otherwise known as "******** my life." Pulling out of the driveway, he began the short fifteen minute drive to the his new school--Parker High.

                                                          FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER

Pulling into the driveway, he parked at the only spot he could find--the one at the very end of the parking lot. Turning his car off, he stepped outside and stretched. Facing the new school, he shook his head back and forth. Fitting in this school, was going to be hell. Observing his surroundings, she noticed that the parking lot was completely packed. Grabbing his backpack, he locked his car and began the hike up to the school's entrance. Remembering his parents say something about some tour guide showing up today, he looked around campus. Carson had absolutely no clue as to who their tour guide would be. Hell, he didn't even know what gender the person was. Feeling a tap on his shoulder, he noticed a male with a friendly smile on his face. "Dude, welcome to Parker High." He began, as his arm was out towards Carson. Shaking his hand, Carson also smiled, but it was more of a confused, crooked smile. "I'm Matt." Nodding his head, Carson crossed his arms over his chest. "Hi, I'm Carson." Looking around him, he noticed that everyone was already involved with their own cliques. "Well, I guess we should get started, huh?" Matt shrugged, before heading inside the school. "Hey man! Wait up!" The moment they both stepped inside, the eighteen-year-old stopped in his tracks.

"Damn, dude. This place is huge." He stated while spinning around the place. "Yup. We have about...uh. I think 1,500 kids at his school? Something like that. We'll I suggest we skip the classroom tour, since I already got your schedule." Matt handed Carson his schedule. "Thanks dude." Looking down at his schedule, he was pleased to see that he was assigned in nothing but AP classes. Matt handed him his schedule. As he observed both of them, he noticed that they had all of their classes together. "We have all of our classes together." Matt began, while folding his schedule and placing it in his pocket. "Now, let's get started with the other tour." Stepping back outside,
Matt began to define all the cliques on campus. "There you have your future business leaders of America." Looking at how majority of them were dressed in business suits, he nodded. Pointing at the video game nerds, Matt rolled his eyes. As they continued to head through each clique, one popular group caught Carson's eyes.

Stopping in his tracks, Carson stood still, as his eyes saw her. Tugging Matt's arm, the only thing he wanted to know what who she was. "Matt, who's she?" Looking up, Matt smirked. "That's Olivia Armstrong. The most popular and beautiful girl in school." Matt stated, as his smirk turned into a look of concern. "Dude, don't even think about going after her. Her parents are strict, and not to mention you have to get past her sister, Taylor." Ignoring his comments, he nodded. "Yeah sure, whatever." He stated, as the bell rang.

"Come on lover boy. Let's get going." Matt stated, as he dragged Carson to AP Biology with him. Taking his seat next to Matt, he noticed that Olivia happened to be in that same class. Blinking at the sight, he swallowed hard. "Now, class. I'd like you to welcome Carson Jamerson to Parker High. Carson, why don't you stand up and introduce yourself." Getting up from his seat, he walked to the front of the room, right next to Mr. Ackerman's desk. "Uh. Hi? I-I'm Carson. Um..." What else was there to say about him? "I recently moved here from Florida, and uh I like playing soccer." Fleeing the sight he headed back to his seat. "Now class. Let's get started..." Opening up his textbook, he slammed his head against the table. He had just stuttered his way through his introduction. 'Smooth. Carson. Real smooth.'

Hearing a knock on my window, I took a deep sigh. Who would bother me at this hour? Penny? No. She was probably still mad at me for taking her part, which I didn't mean to in the first place. Other than her, I never really had any other friends that are um, my own age. Of course, I never really told my dad that, since he would be worried about me. I get along better with the elderly citizens at my church. They're a whole lot nicer and easier to talk to. Anyways, that one girl who threw my bag in the trash can...was it her? No. It couldn't be. Well, at least I hope it wasn't. Licking my lips, I moved my hands to rest on my lap. Finally, I decided to lift my head from the steering wheel. Looking through the window, I saw Caleb. Caleb Felker. Crossing my arms over my chest, I didn't even know where to begin. I could go off on him, and demand answers as to why his friend did that to my bag, but yet again. I probably shouldn't. It wouldn't be right. Rolling down my windows, I attentively listened to what he had to say. He probably noticed by now that my eyes were red from crying. Not that he would care anyways. It's not like anyone in this whole school would care about how important a brown school bag was to me!? Well, let me tell you it was my mothers. My dead mother's school bag. My father found it in his closet, and decided to give it to me for senior year. Yes, I was happy when I discovered it belonged to my mom. No, I was not happy when his friend threw it in the garbage. Now, it sat right next to me. Completely covered it ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise--you name it.

Lowering my eyebrows, my face turned into a frown. Why in the world would he want a ride. Yet alone from me?! "A ride?" I questioned in shock, while adding a bit of sarcasm to my voice. "You want a ride from me?" I laughed at the situation, but sadly I was laughing at myself. "Wouldn't I like ruin your reputation? Or something?" After all, wouldn't I ruin his reputation? Resident bad boy riding with the Reverend Arnold's daughter. A ride with me would probably make him look bad. There was no way I was going to give him a ride. Not after. Not after--wait. Let's rewind a bit. Okay, so maybe he didn't even tell her to do that. Maybe she did that to me on her own. Remembering the short blonde hair, I realized that she was also the girl that tripped me this morning. Bringing my head down to my knee, I examined the bruise. It was now a mere shade of bright red. He didn't deserve to be treated that way. Shaking my head back and forth, I got rid of the sarcasm in my voice. "Okay, look. I'm sorry." I began, as my arms dropped down to my lap once again. "You didn't deserve that." Remembering what my father told me about being kinder to others, I tried to smile at Caleb. The Golden Rule always comes in handy. "Treat others the way you want to be treated, Dakota. You can't please everyone, but you can leave an impression on them. " Even though it was a very tiny smile, at least it would make my mother happy.

Rubbing my eyes, I hoped it would at least get rid of how red they were at the moment. Obviously, it wasn't working since Caleb looked a bit uncomfortable with my pained expression. Turning away from my window, I faced towards the dashboard and touched the cross charm hanging on my rear-view window. After sighing, I smiled. And, this time I wasn't forcing myself. "Get in. Hurry up, because I'm not letting you in after I reach the number ten." Unlocking the doors to my car, I rolled the windows up. Noticing a rain drop appear on my windows, I shrugged with a bigger smile on my face. I have always loved the rain. Something about it just seemed to relaxing. Remembering my countdown, I began as I paced myself between each number. "10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4." Taking a breath in between, I turned the keys right, which brought my car to life.

The Simmons family wasn't the richest family in the world. Trust me, I know. My lovely BMW was my birthday present last year. I wasn't really expecting my dad to get me something this extravagant, but I love this car. Hopefully Caleb wouldn't create a mess in it, if he did. I would make him clean my car until it was completely clean. No joke. I really would. "3. 2. 1." Hearing the door close, I rolled my eyes. Okay, so I would just have to drive him home, then I could go shopping. Glancing at the clock, I noticed it was already 4:00, I promised my dad I would be home in forty-five minutes. There was absolutely no way, I was going to be able to drive Caleb home and go shopping after. "Uh." I began, with a frantic look on my face. My dad never liked it when I was late. "Caleb, I am so sorry...but I think I'm going to bring you to the supermarket with me..." Backing out of the parking lot, I looked both ways before entering the road. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind. I would just hate to get in trouble for being late.

occ: tell me what you think when you're doing watching it (:
don't worry about it, mine's a bit short.

JUST CALL ME GWEN.

"We're moving?" She questioned her parents across the breakfast table. "Yes. We're moving." And just like that, it was the end of the conversation. "Gwen, look we're sorry. We know how much you love this school, but we really have to move." Without saying another word, she walked out of the house, and slammed the door. She was moving. Gwen Thames, nerd extraordinaire, straight a+ student, and weirdo on campus, was leaving. She was going to leave everything behind. Her old house, her great teachers, and her lifetime crush--Fred. He was her only friend, since everyone on campus rejected her for who she was. Running a hand through her hair, she deeply sighed. Today wasn't turning out the way she hoped it would. It began crappy, and would probably end even crappier. Walking out of her front lawn, she began heading north towards her school. This Hopefully, the short walk to school would help her forget that she was ever moving in the first place. Even though it was actually her last time.

"Okay, don't worry." She began, as she tried to convince herself that everything was okay. "Everything is going to be fine. Just calm down. You can get through this." Taking a deep sigh, she finally set foot on campus. However her confident act didn't exactly last long, when all of a sudden people were stopping in their tracks and were actually paying attention to her. Lifting her black hat over her face, she continued walking until she stumbled upon Fred himself, talking with his popular friends, while his girlfriend was practically all over him. Rolling her eyes at the sight, she began walking until she heard how his girlfriend saw her. Hearing that she was nothing but a parasite to society, Gwen continued to walk faster and faster, until she made it inside. "Can you believe that Gwen is moving? I mean seriously!" Looking around her people were whispering about her. In fact, they weren't even whispering. It was to a point where she could actually hear them. Walking even further away from others, she found out that she couldn't escape it. She couldn't escape the gossip, or the apologetic looks on everyone else's faces. Honestly, she just wanted to go home more than anything, but then she would have to face her super rich, popular, and over-achieving parents.

                                                          Wasn't life oh, so wonderful?
It certainly wasn't for one particular red head.

With all honestly, she didn't even want to leave. She didn't want to move away and leave all of her past behind her. Unfortunately her parents thought otherwise. Her parents were lawyers. They weren't the average lawyers. They were the kinds of lawyers that high officials or celebrities hired. Due to their reputation as fabulous law enforcing citizens, they were given the chance to travel all the way to the sunny state of California, which was completely on the other side of the country. Remembering how far the distance was, Gwen didn't stop walking. She continued trying to zone everyone's statements/remarks out of her own head. Entering class five minutes early, she took her usual seat right next to the window. Ms. Carson was no where to be seen. Resting her head on the table, she quietly began to think to herself.

She began asking herself questions as to how she was confronting the situation. Whether or not it was a good idea to remain quiet when her parents told her that they were moving. Whether or not it was okay. Whether or not.. anything was going perfect. It seemed that life had taken a complete 180 for Gwen Thames. As she remained seated, she continued to keep to herself. Hearing the bell, she immediately sat straight up in the seat as she waited for everyone to come in. Fred was in her class. Thank God he was. Bringing her attention to the entrance, she was hoping he would come soon. Maybe she could straighten things between them once and for all. Yet again, it's not like he didn't know that she was moving. He probably heard it by now, especially since his girlfriend had such a huge mouth.

THE NEW KID

"No. I do. You get to work with...How about Carson?"

Bringing his head up from the table, his light blue eyes went up in shock. Did he just hear himself correctly? He was going to be working with, well be partners, with the Olivia Armstrong? The most beautiful and popular girl in school Olivia? The girl that had completely left him breathless this morning? Swallowing hard, he blinked. "Dude, what are you doing?" Matt nudged his shoulder, and pushed him towards the back where Olivia sat. "Get moving fella. You're one lucky guy." Matt laughed. Standing up from his seat, Carson casually awkwardly made his way over to the table where Ms. Armstrong sat. So many thoughts were filling his head that he didn't even know what to think anymore, but all he knew was that maybe coming here from Florida was a good idea. 'Mom, dad. I love you.' It just seemed that her friend that sat next to her would be working with Matt. Looking behind him, he noticed Matt smiling. He seemed happy. Thinking about him having a thing for her friend suddenly cross his mind, but then he rolled his eyes. He would have to ask him about that later, for now he would have to somehow seem ... cool and calm.

Even though, he was absolutely no where near cool or calm at the moment.

                                                      Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
Oh no, he was getting nervous.
                                                      Inhale. Exhale. INHALE. EXHALE.

Feeling his heart speed up, Carson licked his lips. For some reason it seemed that the walk from his table to Olivia's seemed like it was ten miles away. Yet he was just too nervous to even calculate anything. He feared that if they were doing some experiment with chemicals, he would end up ruining the girl's outfit. 'Dude. Carson. CALM THE ******** DOWN. s**t. DUDE PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Taking a deep, long sigh he sat down next to Olivia. Suddenly, he was frantic. What if she thought that his sigh meant that he didn't want to work with him. Instantly, turning towards her, he placed his hands on the table. "Uh..." He began to stated, while trying to think of a way to explain to her that he wasn't upset about being partnered up with her. "I-I'm not upset with working with your or anything...that's not why my sigh was so loud. Ha." He stated while running a hand through his hair. Laughing at the situation, he finally realized that he was hopeless. ******** hopeless. "Everyone open your textbooks to page twenty.." Digging through his backpack, he pulled out a notebook and a mechanical pencil. "Oh, Carson. Before I forget, here's your textbook." Looking up at the teacher, he nervously smiled. It seemed that that they were sending the book back.

Thank God. For if he had to stand up, people would probably being to notice how nervous he was at the moment. Receiving his book from the girl in front of him, he kindly smiled at her. Opening the book to the page Mr. Ackerman said, he scanned through the text and found out that they were doing an experiment about photosynthesis. Brightening up at the subject, the blue eyed male forgot about how nervous he was. Instead, he instantly flipped through his notebook and found the page that he was looking for. His well documented, and organized notes about the process. Carson had taken these notes from his last school, since before he left they were on the three kingdoms. 'It seems that this school is way behind.' They had also done this experiment back in Florida. Tapping his pencil against the table, he waited for the supplies to get passed out.

Suddenly he realized that he didn't even introduce himself to Olivia. Facing the girl, he smiled. All that nervousness that disappeared when the experiment was introduced suddenly came back. "H-hi." His voice had just cracked. Mortified, Carson laughed at himself once again. By now, he was thinking that she probably thought he was weird. Picking up where he left off, he tried to introduce himself once again. "I'm Carson." Remembering that she already knew that, he nervously smiled. "Ha, you probably already knew that. Anyways..." His voice lingered as his mind suddenly drew a blank. Oh man, he was such a helpless case at the moment. Who knew a girl could make him sound like a broken record. Looking up at Mr. Ackerman he noticed that they were already sending seed packets his way. Maybe this biology experiment will help him to get his mind off of how nervous he was.
