❥ As a little girl, Larissa Lang never knew anything else but lies and deceit. ‘Play the good little girl now’ her mother would always say. Her parents pretend to display the image of the perfect family; they pretended there was full of love and laughter. But the reality was grim, her mother was cold and manipulating and her father was deceiving and hateful, it was a wonder they didn’t bite each other’s heads off. So when she had to, Larissa would put on her fake smiles, her whole family would share laughter’s and the public would buy into the crap. At the end of the day, the little girl had nothing, nothing but her brother. He was the only one she ever cared about. Even now. As she grew up, her father loved to drown on and on with boring life lessons, but there was only one that let her see the truth. The world was harsh and cold, if you didn’t match its cruelty, you’ll get caught in the pain.
❥ Was it a wonder that she wasn't nice? That she was cruel and deceiving? Her parents weren’t the blame here, Larissa learnt to stand for herself, she change but maybe not for the better. She stopped playing the ‘good girl’ because there was no need to fear her parents anymore, they were cowards and she could play their little game of lies just as well. But her parents do deserve a bit of credit; they taught her well. Taught her to build the house that no one would anticipate a need for, they taught her to look two moves ahead before taking the first step. It was only fit that Larissa would come to rule Constance Billard as their ruthless queen.
❥ The shrill sound of her alarm broke through her reverie and the infinite silence that filled her room. Larissa stretched her arm and slammed her fist on snooze. She stared up at the ceiling; sleep had never come. She had spent the night flipping through magazines and surfing the web. She tossed her covers away from her body, the cold seeping in. She shivered slightly and opened her drapes, letting the cruel brightness of the sun illuminate her room. She peered outside, fifth avenue was already bustling with movement; car's slowly making there way through the traffic and people walking gingerly along the sidewalk. Larissa sighed and walked towards the bathroom, she snatched her towel on the way and stripped off her pj's. She was walking through the motions of morning, where she’d get up, take a shower, get ready and then get her much needed dose of caffeine. There was absolutely nothing more dull then mornings.
❥ Larissa let the warm water run down her body, all her thoughts washed away and she felt re-energized. It was a shame when she stepped out, the sudden cold made her teeth clatter. Larissa briskly wrapped a towel around her and tip-toed to her closet. Her hair cascaded down her back as she dropped the towel to the ground. She quickly picked out an outfit and dressed herself. It never took long to get ready, she didn't need to. She walked to her vanity mirror; applied her mascara and foundation, she never put too much make up. With a quick scan, she was satisfied with what she saw. She wore a black pencil skirt and a pale yellow blouse with ruffles in the front. She let her hair air dry today; they were already forming into loose waves.
❥ Larissa snatched her cars keys and slid her custom made Gucci bag onto her shoulder. She thudded down the winding staircase and headed towards the kitchen. The smell of freshly made coffee hit her; she smiled with delight and grabbed the already served cup of coffee. She took a sip of it when her phone buzzed. She fished it out of her bag, and noticed she’d received a message from Juliet. She smiled, it was the girl’s birthday today and Larissa was throwing her a grand party at her penthouse. It fit well with her schedule, her parents weren't suppose to be back from their three week business trip until late tomorrow night. And her brother surely wouldn't mind a party? Larissa’s eyes quickly skimmed the message; she’d almost forgotten to check the latest from Gossip Girl. She didn’t care much for gossip, but she knew the power it had and wasn't stupid enough to be completely oblivious to it. She scanned the post, and rolled her eyes. It was nothing important for now; today she had other concerns. Larissa let her fingers glide over her phone’s key board and quickly wrote a reply.

❥ Larissa pressed send, she pushed her cup of coffee away from her and made her way towards the elevator. She picked up her pace, catching the elevator before the door closed. She smiled at the man who was already standing there, and pressed the down button. The door dinged, she stepped out and gingerly walked across the lobby filled with bustling workers and guests alike.
