I'm an ADDICT for dramatics
I CONFUSE the two for love

Wren was comfortable with just ignoring her brother until he got over all that business of not-so-subtly berating her for her choices. Just because one little girl couldn't handle the fact that the boy she wanted payed her no attention, everyone suddenly had to jump into her business. She was a grown woman who had been making grown woman choices long before she had ever hit eighteen, mostly because she had needed to grow up quickly, considering what world she was from.

Yes, sometimes being from South Africa felt like being from another planet, especially when people looked at her when she said it and didn't believe she was from there. She was in a rare position for a mixed child, having inherited her mother's skin and hair, not a hint of her black African heritage visible. Other things that made it feel like another planet? Speaking to her brother in their more native language, and finding it odd that people can't even place what language it is, because they've grown so used to European and Asian languages. Having to tell people that no, she did not grow up in third world villiage, she had grown up in a major city, in Cape Town. Then they would blink at her stupidly and ask what the hell was Cape Town. It made her want to bang her head against a wall, and go yell at many teachers who obviously weren't doing their jobs in world history if people couldn't even know the simplest facts about South Africa. To top her whole world of, the most growing up quickly had come from the shock of her parents dying when she was so young for a reason that she was sure no child should be able to understand, yet she knew many children from where she grew up would understand.

She was tugged from her thoughts by someone coming into the room and greeting. Switching off her blender, she looked over her shoulder, only to be confronted by the sight of Zephyr in no pants, only a towel and sweatshirt. After a sufficent 'what the ********' look, she turned her glare to her brother, tilting her head slightly. Zephyr seemed to think he knew what she was demanding from him, but she could care less when the last time they had sex was-- she stayed out of people's sex lives, unlike what seemed like everyone else. "Okay, he's not even wearing underwear. I'm wear all of of my undergarments, plus shorts. See? They're pretty and pink and have rainbows." she pulled down the side of her shorts a bit to show the fabric of her underwear.

Of course, Les ignored her, stating simply that Zephyr wasn't his sister, or a girl. "So my sole offfense would be, I have boobs?" she questioned, her arms crossing over her chest.

"If you can call what you have boobs, then yes." Lestat said with a smirk, making Wren roll her eyes and turn back to her smoothie, standing on her tiptoes to get from the cabinet a mug. Zephyr seemed to be joining in on the joke about her breasts, saying something about being able to fit her bra. Once she poured her smoothie into her mug, she turned to look at the two.

"Just because I can probably fill a jock strap better then you guys ever will doesn't mean you have to get all personal and attack my breasts." she said with a smirk, faking a hurt voice. With that she turned away again, to grab up the remainder of the smoothier that had not gone in her mug and putting it in the fridge.

After that she did a fairly good job of ignoring Zephyr even as he hugged her and claimed he was going to her room in search of a bra. She knew he wouldn't go into her room, if only for a means of self preservation, because she was just a bit touchy about her personal space, and while not being as good as her brother, she could, on occasion, kick some serious a**.

Taking a sip of her smoothie, she looked at her brother, raising an eyebrow in her normal accusing way of 'you mean you two aren't going to go screw like bunnies so maybe you can loosen up a bit?'. Of course the reply look was 'did you get all that loud sex out of your system last night?', She smiled smugly and shrugged her shoulders. She knew that hadn't really been loud last night, save for a few laughs Wren had emitted when they had stumbled through the door the night before, too busy with other matters to really be concious of not being clumsy.

It wasn't long before someone else showed up, just letting themselves in. The noise of the front door openning had little affect on her, but she noticed as Lestat stiffened ever so slightly, his hand going to rest on his hip, where she was sure a knife was discreetly hidden. Even with the cances of it being someone who would really want to hurt them were low, she knew that Les was on guard always, there was no talking him out of it. She supposed it was for everyone's own good though, even if the person who had entered the house alerted them that it was indeed she and not some stranger come to massacare them.

In no time Bailey was entering the kitchen, greeting the adoptive siblings cheerfully. Wren nodded in her direction, answering when she was asked how her morning was going. "Oh, just swimingly." she said, the sarcasm well hidden in her voice. That was, after all, her talent. Wren was the best liar in the world that no one knew about. Sure, Bailey was good, but put her up against the police? She had a record, Wren didn't. Wren screamed innocence despite her behavior sometimes. No one other the Les could really tell truth from lie with her.

There was a loud noise of an engine revving from the garage. Wren grimaced. Well, they hadn't really had a cover anyway, just a dream of secret. Oh well, might as well just go with it. Picking up her mug, she looked at the other two, taking a sip of her smoothie before speaking. "If you two will excuse me, I'm going to go talk to my friend about certain noise levels in the morning." she said, pushing away from the counter. She walked past the two of them and out of the kitchen, through the living room-- where she leaned over the back of the couch to ruffle Zeph's hair a bit --before she continued out the front door, finding it easier to just go through the front of the open garage.

Zii welcomed the cool air against her exposed skin before going into the garage. "Don't you know that our neighbors are probably trying to sleep?" she asked Cale jokingly, a slight smile playing around her lips. She moved further into the garage, taking a seat on the floor close to where her best friend was. Yes, best friend. He was always that before he was the man she liked to open her bed up to. "And you know there's nothing worse then angry housewives yelling at you for interuptting their beauty sleep." she continued, hoping that she could keep up the joking atmosphere.

Taking another sip of the smoothie that was still in her hands, she paused for a moment before talking again. "What're you doing anyway?" That had to be her most asked question. Wren knew almost nothing about most veicles, her mode of transportation had always been her roller blades or the bus, unless she was riding with someone else. No point in adding more pollution to the air with another car. After putting her mug to her lips once more, she offered it to Cale. "Want some? It's all natrual vegan-y goodness." okay, so maybe that only mattered to the hippish girl, but she could try.

With Les refusing to verbally change the subject and Ziraili refusing to speak until the subject was verbally changed, the kitchen fell into silence, save for the sound of Zii's blender whirring loudly. They were good at this, this thing of dancing just barely around an argument. Oh, yes, to everyone else it would seem they were already in an argument, but this was nothing for them. They could have true blowouts sometimes. And boy, those were a sight. With mellow Zii and reasonable Les both yelling? Most were caught off guard by such an idea.

No, they saved those kinds of fights for 'special' occasions. What constituted as special? Their last blow out had been about a month back, and that had been over Lestat getting into a fight on the street when they had gone to LA to visit their family. His parents, her adoptive Aunt and Uncle, and their younger sisters, didn't live in the best of neighborhoods, and she and Les both knew they had more then enough money to get out of the ghetto, but they could also see the best in the neighborhood. So what if it felt like they lived in a warzone half the time? It was the other half that mattered.

That was beside the point. Like always when going to visit their parents, Les had brought the minimal protection of just one knife, but he wasn't thinking about that when he stepped in on a bunch of guys harassing Posey, their second youngest sister. What did Wren find wrong in that? Well, it was as simple as he didn't just lead her away, back to their parent's house, instead he had come back out once she was inside and started to share 'words' with them, despite Wren trying to pull him away. Long story short, threats were thrown and soon enough one of the guys were pulling a gun and it was going fairly quiet. It wasn't as scary a Wren made it out to be, considering they had just all been a bunch of amateur gangbangers, but nevertheless, even though he got the gun out of the other guy's hand, even though he scared them off, so on and so forth, she didn't talk to him for the rest of the weekend until they got back home, and then it was a free for all with each yelling at the other about the incident. And that was what constituted a fight like that happening.

At the sound of Zephyr's voice greeting them, Lestat looked up, grinning. Of course, his sister's reaction to Zeph's appearance was much less enthusiastic. She was more up for demanding how he got away with just being in a towel, going as far as to flash a bit of her panties to make some point. Lestat smirked at her, opening his mouth he gave an answer he was fairly sure would only aggravate her more. "Well you see, Zephyr here isn't my sister, nor is he of the female gender."

He wrapped an arm around his boyfriend as the younger male sat in his lap, barely managing to get out his own good morning before they were sharing their morning kiss. Honestly, it was usually an afternoon kiss, only because his boyfriend was known to wake up later in the day due to the night time nature of their jobs. And while Lestat was better at waking up with only a few hours sleep, Zephyr wasn't, which led to Les always being as quiet as possible in the morning, leaving the room to work downstair, not making noises as he got out of bed, so on and so forth.

Zii was going on, something about the issue being her boobs then. "If you can call what you have boobs, then yes." he told her bluntly. Her reaction after that was to just ignore the two, even as Zephyr ran with the joke. Les smiled at his boyfriend, releasing him when he jumped up, talking of going to go find a bra in Wren's room. They pretty much ignored her when she threw her own insult out there, and Lestat offered a small wave to Zephyr as he left the room.

After that the siblings simply shared looks until someone else arrived, this time it being Bailey, greeting them cheerfully. He smiled and nodded in her direction, looking over his shoulder at his sister as she so sarcastically told of how her day was going. He scoffed, taking a sip of his now only slightly warm coffee, and looked back to Bailey. "Well, my morning going quite fine, unlike Ziraili here." he said.

There was a loud revving noise from the direction of the garage, and just like that Wren was excusing herself, quick to go off to Cale. She was too attached to him, that was what it was. She also couldn't seem to figure out that men and women couldn't be friends without ******** each other. Bailey excused herself shortly after that, leaving Lestat in the solitude he had began in. Shrugging his shoulders, he just rolled with waves.

Saving the open documents on his computer, he shut it down and then closed it, looking up as the endless kitchen parade continued. This time it was Ellie, looking about ready to jump out of her skin. For her, Les choose to stay quiet, knowing that was something she would prefer more to him lying through his teeth about knowing his sister would come to her senses eventually, because he didn't know that. Instead he was helpful as he could be, pointing in the direction of the garage, knowing she was now looking for Wren. He didn't think was the best idea, but again, the best way to help Ellie was to leave the quiet girl be.

Once she was gone, he sighed and stood, deciding to go to the living room with the others rather then just sitting there, stuck in his own head. Entering the living room, he smiled at the two, giving them a two fingered salute, then moved to the couch, taking it upon himself to lift Zephyr's legs, then sit, letting them fall back onto his lap. "I'm going to say we all should avoid the garage for now." he told the two. "Unless you want to be in the blast radius for the time bomb that is Ellie." he said.

Looking down at the feet in his lap, he sighed, shaking his head before reaching out and tugging the laces out of the sides of Zephyr's shoes. "I know you were taught how to tie your shoes when you were younger." he stated, starting to tie the first shoe. "I seriously don't want to have to say I told you so if you fall one of these days, but I will."

It took all that Wren could muster not to encourage Cale's sexual innuendos with a grin. Instead she looked down, letting her hair fall into her eyes. She would have to tie it back later-- before she had to deal with everyone. That and put on at least a shirt. She had learned that fact long ago-- that no one could just leave it at 'oh, her stomach is showing'. If she had the pierced belly button, why not show it? And the simple fact of the matter that less clothing was less cofining for the girl that was all about freedom.

As Cale started to explain what was going on with his bike, she simply nodded, pretending to understand what information he laid out in front of her. Sure, it was in fairly simple terms, but even simple terms were too hard for her to get much of the time. All she ever got from it was 'This is broken, I'm fixing it'. Who the hell knew why she kept asking Cale what he was doing with veicles when she knew she was never going really get it. It was just that kind of thing that she liked to hear, it was one of what was getting to be very rare times that they either weren't going at it or talking about it, or talking about that... other thing. "Wish it were, but you know, all this goes right over my head." she told him with a wave of her hand .

At his denile of wanting her smoothing she shrugged, going back to holding it close. "Oh, I'm sure you're so heart broken about not getting to have any." she said, her classic crooked smile playing around her lips. She took a gulp from her mug, saying nothing as she thought for a moment. Once her thoughts processed, she sat up on her knee's, starting to talk, "Wait, you're not going home now, are you? Why don't you just--"

An angry sputtering of words cut her off. She froze, easily recongnizing the voice of her third roommate. She looked down at the mug she held in her hands, not saying a word. Her head did however snap up when Cale said his oh-so-rude comment. She frowned, standing and using the hand that wasn't holding her smoothie to slap the back of his head hard. "I told you about saying stuff like that." she told him, no more amusement or fun in her voice. She began walking to the front of the garage, talking over he shoulder to him. "If you go home now you're just going to get back late. You leave clothes here all the time, just change into something here. They're up in my room." she didn't bother to tell him where in her room, he would find them eventually, without her help.

At first she said nothing to Ellie, walking past her out of the garage then stopping, her back still turned to the younger female. Honestly, Wren wasn't sure on how to go about this. The girl was crying, Ziraili didn't do crying. She didn't cry, she didn't deal well with people who cried, so on and so forth. Even now, as she turned to face Ellie, her actions turned out insensitive, despite every part of her reasonable half screaming at her. What did she do? She moved towards Ellie, and then reached out with her free hand and took the girl by her arm, pulling on her more roughly then she had intended.

Grimacing, she tugged at Ellie again, pulling her to her feet and away from the garage. If the girl made an objection to her current treatment, Wren didn't hear it, or she pretended not to. She guided Ellie around the garage to the back of the boarding house, eventually ending up with Ellie with her back to the house and Wren close enough that there was barely a foot between them.

Having gotten just that far, Wren wasn't sure what she was supposed to say from there. But it was say something or let her chance be lost, because she was sure Ellie wasn't going to put up with being pushed around like she was being currently for much longer. And Wren couldn't blame her. It was adding insult to injury. First the person she liked and who knew she liked her was sleeping with someone else despite saying she returned the feeling. Now she had to be pushed around by that same person? No. That was just a no-no.

"I don't know what you want me to tell you Elaine. What do you want to hear?" she asked. "That's I'm stupid? That I have no idea how much I'm screw things up; I'm an insensitive b***h? That you shouldn't even waste your time with all of this?" Her voice was steadily rising as she spoke, and even though she was aware of it, she couldn't stop it. She was yelling at Ellie and that couldn't be helping the situation either. What was worse? She just wanted to kiss the girl. And damnit, it wasn't like she hadn't done it before. Of course, those times hadn't ended very well either. All it did was prove to complicate things much futher.

She lowered her voice, finally able to process the fact that if she kept yelling, someone-- probably Les --would have tyo come out and get involved in all of this. "I'm the perfect lair Ellie. Just-- I can say whatever you want to hear and it'll probably make you feel better, because I can make anyone believe me." she laughed, combing her fingers through her red hair before managing to look Ellie in the eye. "And Jesus Christ, please stop crying."

It was okay, she was okay. That was up until the moment that Ellie had to use that word. Even when she took the chance to flip their positions and kiss Wren-- Wren couldn't really summon the nerve to kiss back. Not with her mind now filling with that word. Elaine didn't seem to notice though, and just at that moment Wren knew she wasn't supposed to ruin it right them. She smiled weakly up at the other female, again reminded of how small she was. It hadn't seemed that way when she had been yelling at and pushing Elaine around, but the second their roles were reversed, it was always made painfully obvious.

Really, it was a daze as Ellie pulled her around the house, taking Wren's mug and finallly lettng go of her to go into the living room. Wren wearily followed her, though she was careful not to let on how tired she was already of this day.

There were several reasons why Wren was never comfortable with that whole 'love' thing, and they tied into just about every mess Wren currently had herself in. Love, for Wren, was something she only claimed with family. She loved Les, and Posy and Ivy, and her Aunt and Uncle. They were the only people she was sure enough of to call her feelings for them love. They weren't going anywhere, they weren't going to just up and leave her. No, this wasn't a trust issue, because if it were, how would she even summon the energy to even work with people she had to trust? No, it was a matter of people came and went far to quickly in the line of work. Wren didn't have time for love, or the energy to deal with a 'broken heart' with every break up that happened for one reason or another. She didn't care if people claimed her to be 'the one'; she had told several different people at different points in her life that they needed to find another one.

And Ellie, she was sure Ellie had no idea about any of this. Of course there were stories about Wren. Her brother could probably spit them all out in quick succession, but she knew the only person he would spit them out to would be his boyfriend, and Wren was fairly sure that Zephyr knew she would hold up to her threats of pummeling him if he messed around with her life, which was why it all went through Les. Telling Ellie that every time she used that stupid word would only prove to hurt the other girl, possibly more then Wren just turning to someone who managed not to use it, without even knowing how much Wren resented the concept of love.

Wren cared about everyone. She just didn't love them.

"Zii, are you paying any attention to the world around you?" she looked, up, surprised to hear her name. Had people been trying to talk to her? Well, Les was looking at her. She grabbed that up as a reason to move away from Ellie's side-- her brother came before everyone else, Ellie couldn't get upset over that. She put on a smile for Lestat; if he could see through it, he said nothing about it.

"Hvad gjorde du fortælle hende, denne gang?" Les question her in Danish, asking her what she had told Ellie this time to cheer the girl up. Wren crossed her arms, looking down at her feet and shrugging. She knew Les was only keeping it to Danish to prevent hurting Ellie's feelings with the questions, considering there was a chance that if she heard some of the answers, she would like what she heard.

"Nothing." she said, and that was the truth. She hadn't said a word. This time it had been all Ellie, taking from Wren's silence what she wanted to take. With the calm look Lestat was giving her though-- she had to give in. It was that look. He was so cool headed, and even with a non-threatening look, he always managed to scare the truth from her. "Det er at kærlighed ting, Lestat. Jeg kan ikke stoppe hende fra at sige det, men jeg ønsker ikke at virkelig være omkring det. "* she admitted, her tongue probably feeling much more comfortable with the Danish then Les. After all, it had been spoken to her since birth, and she had kept it up the best she could growing up, even teaching it to Lestat when she had moved in with his family and he had become her brother.

Her brother mumbled something unintelligble, and then spoke again, this time in English."You plan on putting on a shirt anytime soon? As much as I'm so happy that every gets a nice view of my sister with barely anything on, I would prefer it if the show ended now." normally she might've given a sarcastic comment or two in reply to his words before actually going to get dressed, but this time she snapped up the chance.

Turning to Ellie, she held up her hand in a five minute sign. "I'll be right back, I do need to get dressed." she said, before moving out of the living room and padding up the stairs, her bare toes barely touching the wood of the floor upstairs, her steps were so light. She opened her door, stepping into her own personal sanctuary that she only had to share when she wanted to. She closed her door behind her, a bit surprised that Cale wasn't in there, and there were no signs that he had been up there to get fresh clothes. "Why doesn't he ever listen to me?" she sighed out, going to her closet to pick out her own clothes.

Not even ten minutes later she was fully dressed in a tight tank top under a gauzy pesant to with long bell sleeves and a pair of denim shorts that stopped just past her mid thigh. She had braided her hair into a messy fishtail, and now was just sitting on her window seat, compact open, putting on some eyeliner. Once done with that she set the make up aside, standing.

She sighed, hearing the usual roar of Cale's motorcycle as he pulled into their garage. There was a way to get to the garage without anyone in the living room noticing her, but was it really worth it if Ellie figured it out and went back into her retreat mode? One outburst a day had always seemed to be the limit for the quiet girl, after that it had always seemed like retreats. Yet-- Wren was stupid, because she found herself taking just that way to get the the garage, openning the door, about to reprimand Cale for not listening to her, even if he was back with barely enough time, it was everyone else that was going to be late. Of course that plan was whiped when she saw him laying on the ground, all torn up and bruised.

"Oh Mary mother of god." she mumbled. Well now they had to know she was in the garage. "Lestat! C'mere!" she yelled. She wasn't panicing, far from it. It just was another thing that didn't register well for her. Instead she stood aside wordlessly as her brother responded, coming to the garage. When he asked what happened, she shrugged. "Probably did something stupid on his bike. Can you get him up to my room? I'll get the first aid kit." Well, there was no way in hell she and her tiny self was getting giant Cale up the stairs to her room. As Less got him, she moved away, going to the kitchen to grab the first aid kit she and Les had stocked themselves. She moved through the living room-- the most direct route to get upstairs. It was obvious Les had already been through, and she kept her eyes on the ground as she moved, not wanting to have to be confronted by Ellie.

Up in her room Les had laid Cale out on her bed and was leaning against the door frame, waiting for her. "Looks like he got some bad road rash, a whole bunch of cuts and even more bruises. You got this?" he asked her. She nodded, waving him off.

"Go, I've got it, you can start without us down there if you want to. It's not like we don't already know our jobs. Drive fast and lie to the cops." Les shrugged and nodded, leaving her, closing her door behind her. With another sigh, she went to her bed, sitting on the edge of it and shaking her friend lightly. "Cale, you need to stay awake, you stupid boy. You probably have a concussion."

"Beheri, are you here to cook or just to ******** around?" the plump man yelled across the kitchen at the young man who was taking his time at the grill toward the front of the kitchen. The young man looked up at the sound of his last name, grinning while he flipped a burger with a spatula in one hand and held a phone to his ear with his other.

"You offering, Scott?" he called over the clatter of the dishwasher doing his own job to his boss. Offering Dexter a rude gesture, he waved for the male to get back to working, saying something Dexter pretended to not quite hear about getting off 'that damn phone'. He smirked, turning back to the grill and continuing to talking into the cell phone. "And as I was saying, no, you can't sleep over tonight, Ari. Someone else is coming over." he said to the phone.

The girl on the other end of the phone let out a whining noise; his seventeen year old sister. "Again? Jeez, way to be a slut Dex." Dexter grinned, despite the fact he knew his younger sibling couldn't see him, and shook his head.

"Pot calling the kettle black, Ari. That's all I have to say. And you know I'm just feeding the kid."

"Feeding him, riiiiiiight. Why can't I just come over later tonight then?" she questioned.

"Because you can't. I don't care if your mad at Mom and Dad. When I was your age, I didn't have an older brother whose house I could run to when I got annoyed with them, so consider yourself lucky I ever let you come over. I gotta go, tell Mom and Dad I say hi when you start talking to them again." with that he hung up the phone, turning his full attention to the grill, and the hamburger he was on the verge of burning. Well, the customer had wanted it well done, and it was his last burger of the day, he could already here the other cook was there, talking to the other kitchen staff.

He finished making the burger, putting it through the window that seperated the kitchen from the front of the diner, hitting the bell that sat on the same sill.
"End of shift burger, well done, no pickles, extra onions." he said loudly enough so the waiter who the burger was for could hear him over the noise of the kitchen behind him. Of course it was only an 'end of shift' burger because he knew bother he and the waiter the burger was for to be surved out, Alexander, both ended their shift at the same time. And that was only important because when things like that did happen, Dex did offer to give the other male ride home, in addition to the usual dinner he shared with him.

"If you want a ride home, hurry up." he said through the window also, before moving away, heading for the door of the kitchen to go out to the front of the diner to get his things from behind the counter. He offered Alex a smile as he passed him once he had his things, deciding to sit at one of the stools at the counter while he waited for Alex.

There were various reasons why Dexter chose to act the way he did towards Alex. He was just a nice guy? Sure. Alex was a good kid, though Dex wasn't sure if kid was the right word, he wasn't much younger then Dex. And Dexter knew what it was like to just be getting onto your feet. His parents hadn't been all that great a help when he had done it, though it might've been due to the fact that he had gotten himself emancipated at sixteen, but that was a whole other story.

And there was the case of what his sister had implied, no, he wasn't sexing up Alexander, but he would be one of the first people to admit that the other male was cute, and had potential, but Dex had always been the slow to act sort of guy, if a few weeks worth of dinners every few days with nothing happening between them wasn't a tip off to that.

Laughing at himself, Dex shook his head, tapping his fingers in a rhythmic beat on the counter. "Beheri, if you're not working, go home." Scott said gruffly, coming up behind the counter. Dex grinned at his boss, knowing that while the man was gruff, he was easy to joke with.

"Why Scott, if I didn't know any better, I would say you didn't want me around." he clutched his chest, pretending to be hurt. "Don't worry, I am leaving, just waiting for Alex, over there." he said, nodding in Alex's direction.

The fairytales we grew up with?

Not the myths we've always thought them to be.

The princes, the princess, the witches, so on and so forth? They're all real. They've been in existence for as long as their stories have been told, for further back then most human memory goes. And up until about 300 years ago, they lived peacefully in their own world. Of course, an end was put to all of that when a new force started to bring destruction to their world, and any one who decided to oppose it.

You have to understand, their world was much more complex then any seen before, with thousands of kingdoms, most unaware of the other's existences. No one had anytime to unite against the common threat. Many kingdoms gave up easily, but there were many more that fought without really knowing what they were up against, many that lost a lot of lives, and few escaped. But the few that did escape? They became suddenly quite aware of the other fairytale kingdoms and places around them, and also what was happenning to every one of them and what needed to be done.

          They needed to escape.

Knowledge of the other world-- our world --was quickly becoming known, and everyone needed to find away out. Entrances to our world would be found, but then quickly closed by the Adversary. Soon enough though, they learned to move quickly enough, getting as many people out into our world as they could until one by one all of the known entrances were closed. Those who made it though? Well, they were luckier then those who didn't and refused to submit.

Fast forward to the here and now. In Boston, on a street that's spelled to seem like any other street to the humans, Haven has been set up. Haven, you say? What the hell is Haven? Well, all the tales had to go somewhere, and while some went off into the world, they've been having to follow Haven laws for almost three hundred years. They do everything they can to look out for their people in this small secret government. On the one street, businesses are open, there is housing for the tales that need it. The government headquarters, everything is there. And though a human can walk down the street, the conversation they hear is often different due to the often unreal subject, the signs say different then what they really are, everything is well covered, all to keep who they are secret. It's hard enough to keep people unaware that they don't age, don't die, without adding more to the mix.

          The Girls
          Snow White;; Open --
She's one of the people responsible for keeping the community together and running smoothly. She's the one people go to when they have an issue with whatever if going on in their own little corner of the world. True, she's not the one in charge, but she is a major component to their government. But while she keeps everything else running smoothly, she has a hard time dealing with the own mess that is her life. Between dealing with her ex-husband, somewhat estranged sister, vain Briar Rose turning everything into a competition over small things, and an awkward relationship with that turned human big bad wolf, she is pretty damn close to her breaking point. The only thing keeping her sane at the moment is the optimistic nature and relaxed of her closest friend, Frog Prince.

          The Little Mermaid;; Taken o u t r a g e o u s KOI
She arrived a little late to Haven, for the most part untouchable in her state after quite the mess that was her own short relationship with Prince Charming-- who royally screwed her over in the past, causing her dislike of him currently. Though she served her three hundred years and earned her human soul, there seems to be some sort of snag with her previous curse that she still can't shake. Her ability to talk is just not there, and after talking to every witch around, it seems she still has to fall in love and get that special kiss before she gets that. Unfortunately for her, she can't find her true love within Haven. No, she's already found her true love, but falling in love with this person breaks every one of their rules, due to her normal human nature. The only person keeping her from making any rash decisions is her far more responsible friend, Mowgli.

          Briar Rose;; Open --
Vain and spoiled, Briar Rose is a hard one to tolerate. With the gifts granted to her at birth, she had never really needed to worry like the others did when she fled her homeland, which causes her to sometimes be a bit full of herself. Another to fall victim to Prince Charming and his long chain of women, she holds just as much dislike him as Snow White and the Little Mermaid. However, this has formed some sort of kinship between Briar Rose and the Mermaid. Briar Rose's biggest problem always seems to be her vanity, having her in constant competition with Snow White over stupid little things, which is also the reason she doesn't have the same relationship with her that she has with the Mermaid. Her vanity also makes her deny the little things, like the person who wakes her up whenever her own particular curse reoccurs: The Frog Prince, due to her slight disgust over his reverting to frog form with nervousness, yet all she seems to be doing is denying the fact that he has to have genuine feelings for her, since no one other then someone who truly wants her can awaken her.

          Rose Red;; Open --
A real wild child, Rose Red is mostly known by those in Haven for constantly trying to break out of her sister's shadow. Of course, this has cause her relationship with Snow White to become a strained one, with the two only ever talking when they can't avoid it. What doesn't help? Rose Red's on-again, off-again relationship with Prince Charming, her sister's ex. She seems to have no care for his past with women, and as of recently has always been the one to take him back after they break up for a few months and he goes to some other woman. Due to her own wild nature, Rose Red has always been known for breaking rules, her latest involving becoming friends with the Human Girl that the Little Mermaid sometimes brings around Haven. Though she has not yet told their secret, most people are wary of the friendship, and Rose Red's other friend, Pied Piper, keeps a vigilant watch when the two are together, much like Mowgli does for Little Mermaid, to make sure the secret doesn't get out.

          The Human Girl;; Open --
She's often the one left out, she was brought into this whole new world hidden in the city completely by accident, and she doesn't even know it. No, she thinks all of her new friends are human and perfectly normal, and who knows how she would react to find that they weren't normal. And then of course, there's the treatment she receives from her friend's friends. Little Mermaid, Rose Red, Mowgli, and Pied Piper may be kind to her, but all the others she sometimes runs into? It's very obvious she not wanted around. And if she weren't so attached now, maybe she wouldn't stick around. Attached to what? The mysterious mute Little Mermaid, who she's finding her self more and more drawn to with each passing day. Of course, she can even sense the secrets with this one too, and is constantly debating with herself how she is supposed to go about passing the wall that this community no one else seems to know about has built up.

          The Guys
          Prince Charming;; Open --
Oh boy, here comes trouble. Of course he's charming, it's in his name. But that doesn't mean people fall for his charm. No, not anymore. Snow White just brushes him off, The Little Mermaid won't give him the time of day, and Briar Rose? She'd probably scratch his eyes out if given the chance. The only person who keeps taking him back, time and time again is Rose Red, though no one thinks he deserves it. What doesn't help is his constant fights with the Big Bad Wolf over the other's growing relationship with Snow White, and his attempts at starting fights with the Frog Prince over Briar Rose, but Frog Prince's lack of temper makes it hard for that to happen. The only person really willing to put up with him, Mowgli, tries to convince him to just drop it, but getting through his hard skull is near impossible.

          Big Bad Wolf;; Open --
Everyone insists he's a bad guy, unless you're in trouble and he's got your a** covered. Besides, no one heeds his side of the story, so why should he act like anything more then a gruff, insensitive, jerk. He tries not to be particularly close to anyone, and he sure as hell doesn't talk to people about how he can so easily shift from wolf to human, yet he never did it until it came time to live in Haven, his only other choice being the farm, which is more like being trapped then it is living. He also doesn't talk about the incredible protectiveness he feels for and gives Snow White, whether she wants it or not. If you can't find him, it would be a good guess to go and find her, and you'll usually find both, either arguing or having a civilized conversation, it's usually a half and half chance. She's really the only thing that holds him in Haven, and he'll fight tooth and nail for the affections she hasn't even given yet, especially with Prince Charming.

          Pied Piper;; Open --
There are plenty of people in Haven who avoid this one. It’s kind of hard to forget the person who kidnapped all of those children once upon a time, children who were never seen again. But with general amnesty, it can't be held against him in this new world, and to be fair, if they had just kept up their end of the bargain, they'd have their children still. Really, he's Rose Red's partner in crime, always willing to stir things up with her, though much of the time he won't go to the extremes she does, because he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone. In fact, he's the one who watches her interactions with the human to make sure she doesn't take things too far. This he does on the prompting of Mowgli, a tale he discovered only when he arrived in Haven. And what did he, they both, discover? What all those stupid happily ever afters were all about. Of course at this point, happily ever after was all over for all the tales, but you can still go ahead and fall in love, right? It's one of the few things that have seemed to go right in Haven over the years, after all.

          Mowgli;; Taken o u t r a g e o u s KOI
Truly raised a jungle child, Mowgli isn't wild like most people would like to think, but rather much more observant then his peers, after years of having to learn look after himself. Most of his time is spent between Pied Piper and Little Mermaid, being in love with one and acting in a sort of big brother role to the other. It's a known fact that for some reason he can understand Little Mermaid best, and just what she want to say, even with her lack of voice, which can help communication with her if you really have no other way to understand her. That, and he just looks after her and tries to make her stop and think about some of the things she doesn't think out that well, such as this whole Human Girl thing. And with Pied Piper, if you're looking for someone to scold him, it's best to go straight to Mowgli, who seems to be the only person who can keep the Piper in check. He's also known as the person to 'deal with' Prince Charming, thought it's more to make sure he doesn't interfere in The Little Mermaid's life like he does his other past flames, of course that means he's somehow become the mediator for when Charming goes after the other two courters of his past partners.

          The Frog Prince;; Open --
Laidback and sweet, it's hard for people to dislike the Frog Prince. Only two people can seem to manage it, and one isn't even genuine about it. The first is Prince Charming, whose dislike of Frog Prince is something he easily brushes off, due to his conflict-free nature. The second hurts just a bit more, it being Briar Rose, someone that The Frog Prince has managed to find feelings for, after losing his family before ending up in Haven. Of course, the vain female finds flaws in the Prince, such as how his curse reoccurs and he turns into a frog whenever the shy male gets nervous. And how does he turn back? Well either he calms down, or the faster way is a kiss. Needless to say since coming to Haven, he's needed to learn how to calm down as fast as possible. And despite Briar Rose's constant brush offs, he keeps pursuing her, with hopes that she'll eventually give in. If anything, he does receive that constant encouragement from just about everyone else, and he seems to have a friend to talk to in Snow White.

Beginning
I honestly don't know how to tell you my story. Mostly because it's a complicated one that people often get wrong. You all know the beginning I bet though. I wanted to be a human. I wanted to have an immortal soul. What happened though, what happened is not what you normally hear in your little disney stories. You see, the sea witch wasn't a horrible woman. She warned me, she was fair through every part of my story. And my prince? Well my prince was as bad to me as he was to his other princess' the only difference was he never married me. I would've been wife number three I believe. He blows through them quite quickly if you haven't noticed.

I had the opprotunity to regain my tail, go back to the world I was so used to. All I had to do was kill him. But I couldn't. Instead? Instead I let fate take over. But fate changed itself. I was supposed to be seafoam, I was supposed to be gone. But instead I was given another way to gain the soul I so wanted. And I snapped it up. Three hundred years was a long time, and there was much time added and taken away, with all the tears I shed and the smiles I let shine. It's actually a quite complicated story. Of course, like I said, it's the true story that very few people know.

Transition
Leaving the homelands for me was nowhere near as eventful as it was for some of my peers. I was a Daughter of the Air when the invasion, and we were untouchable in our state. It was very close to the end of my time though, when all the tales began to realize what was happening to everyone. And for me, that meant that I needed to be careful as my time came closer and closer for gaining the sould I wanted. We had already seen quite a few daughters gain their souls, only to die too soon after. It was bittersweet, the thought of going so long just to get one thing, and then have it all end in a matter of days.

Finally, I gained my soul. By that time, entrances to the real human world were being used as a route of escape, and all I could really do was join one of the many groups searching for an escape. That's where I met Kalani. He was called Mowgli then though, just like I had no name. It was the whole jungle group really. Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Raksha, all of them. Mowgli and I quickly because of his human nature, and because of one other thing: he could understand me. For one reason or another, the same spell that had me unable to talk before is still in affect, and I can't speak a word, not until I meet my true love and we kiss. But that's another part of the story. It was suprising to discover that Kalani could understand me. I can touch his arm, and he'll hear everything I want to say. I don't know why it's only that way with him and no one else, but it is.

We made it to Haven eventually, and again, I can't say I felt the same hardships and tragedies that others, even what Mowgli went through before I joined up with them.

Haven
The end of the story, well, for now, is a mixed happily ever after. Haven is something extraordinary, with all the tales that populate it. The human ones. We have this thing, called the farm, where all the non-human tales have to stay, for the pure fact that if they didn't our covers would be blown. I visit my sisters there, sit by the lake and talki with tme about everything. We are sisters after all.

And Kalani is still around, looking after me, making sure I won't do anything stupid, since I often act without thinking. He's like a big brother to me, and to this day he is still the only person who knows what I am saying without my use of pen and paper or sign language.

The last thing? I found her. I found what you would call my true love, or soul mate or whatever. Or at least I feel like I've found her. The only problem? Humans and Tales getting into serious relationships are one of our biggest no-no's. That's what's stopped me from acting on my feelings so often. There is too much of a risk of her knowing, her finding out about who I am. But what I won't stop doing? Spending time with her. And one day, I'm going to tell her. All I've got to do is figure out a way to get people behind me on letting me do it. As it is, Snow would probably kill me, all the stress she already gets from her job. Last thing she needs is me potientially exposing us to the whole world.

Beginning
My tale is a very long and complicated one. I'm not even sure of how to start it. I guess it starts with a name. I am Mowgli the frog, or that is what my mother, Mother Wolf calls me still to this day, no matter what human name I have chosen to adopt. For most of my story, all you need to know is that I was taken from my parents in a tiger attack, and instead I was raised by a pack of wolves. They were my family, and to this day my pack brother and Mother Wolf are the family I default to. The family that's left. My life is filled with battles of Shere Khan, and friendships with Baloo, Kaa, and Bagheera.

The only other thing I could honestly tell you about is about the going back and forth between the world of man and the jungle. There was a woman. She believed me to be her son, since I left the world of man in a way similar to her son. Am I her son? I honestly don't know. But she did look after me for a time, and she is like a second mother to me, after Mother Wolf. It was twice I went to her, and both times, I returned to the jungle, for once I was hurting them, and a second I couldn't leave my native world.

Transition
The homeland invasions... they were hard. Many days, I feel like our jungle, and the villages around us, were the hardest hit.

We didn't have the armies that the kingdoms had; the protection of witches and wizards. Our fight was a bare one, with little weapons of man. We lost many. Father Wolf; some of my pack brothers. It was a long and bloody fight; not one I care to remember often. I still carry many scars for it, and I know I was lucky, we all were lucky, to be able to escape eventually. Some wanted to submit, and those who did, we let them go, telling them they were cowards, and letting them be a distraction they didn't know they were being, because while they were submiting, we left the jungle, left it to find one of the many entrances that were becoming known throughout the homeland.

For the first half of our trip, we were alone. Then, we were joined, by a mute girl. I swear, she was the most beautiful girl-cub I had ever seen, but trust me, it wasn't like that. It was just something I recongnized and came to adore about her. That, and something about her timidness. Of course part of it is the fact that she can't talk, but the other half seems to truly be she doesn't know who she's supposed to be able to trust. It took a long time to learn her story, mostly for the fact that we were not yet fully aware of how she could touch me and think what she wanted to say. It took several weeks to learn that, and once we did, she told me her story fully, telling it with much more ease.

And that was our trip to Haven for the second half. Many, many stories.

Haven
Haven is, well, a haven. I don't know any better way to describe it. It has it's downfalls, like my jungle family having to live on the farm, but nothing is perfect. And for every downfall, there is usually something good, I have come to find. I did not have to split with Delaney, which was good because she was for a bit of time, the only human I could stand to be around. Maybe because we're in a way, the same. We're not of human origins, no matter what our bodies may say, and even today, some human things still confuse us. I keep her out of trouble though. She calls me her big brother.

And of course, there is another. Every story has a love story at it's heart, doesn't it? Well, mine did. It came in the strangest way though. You see, he has a way with that flute of his, and even though I don't think he was calling anyone to him, I couldn't help but to end up near him. This was what, about two hundred years ago? Give or take a decade. I had been in this world for quite awhile by then. But time for tales are different, since we don't die unless someone kills us. Two hundred years is nothing for a relationship. Go talk to Beauty and Beast. Now there's a long relationship.

Delaney . Jorryn . Rouse
╔═══════════════════════════════╗
Oh, Miss Delaney
What's the matter?
You waited by the window,
I waited by the door.
Oh, Miss Delaney,
Where's your boyfriend?
He isn't up in heaven,
So why treat him like he's dead?

╚═══════════════════════════════╝

For many people, it was a mystery where Delaney Rouse disapeared to every morning from nine to eleven-ish. A lot of things were mysteries when it came to the mute, mostly for that reason. It took a lot of time to stop and communicate with her when Kalani wasn't around. If you didn't understand sign language, then you had to stop and wait for her to write things out, and not many people had the patience for all of that. So many people just went around not knowing a thing about the forever young woman, though she was fine with that. She was fairly timid, and prefered that there was at least one time in the day where a very select few people could find her. All the rest of her days she usually spent in and around Haven, doing small errands to earn money, or just hanging around.

The morning was her's though. Her's to spend with the creatures of the sea at the aquariam. The language of the sea danced around her when she stepped foot into the aqauriam, because, human world or not, the language of the sea never changed. It calmed her, reminded her of home, though she was fairly sure that there wasn't much of 'home' left anymore. At least, that was the general idea her sisters had given her.

Sighing, Delany pressed her forehead against the cool glass of the large main tank, her gaze content with following one of the sea turtles. It actually stopped and gazed back at her, as if knowing that if he stopped to talk to her, she would understand his words. But he said nothing, and she couldn't say anything if she wanted to. A beep sounded from the watch on her wrist, alerting her that her own set time with the sea creatures was up. She couldn't send to much time with them. It wasn't right. It was something she had to be careful of, before she grew attached to it. Things came and went fast in this world. Falling in love with a bunch of fish was not a good idea.

Tomorrow then. She thought to herself, moving away from the tank before she changed her mind and rushed right back over.

As always, the trip back to Haven was a slow one, if only because she made it slow. Everyone knew once you stepped back into Haven, your thoughts weren't your own. No, no one was browsing through her thoughts, it was more a matter of there was always something going on. Drama that people made because they were bored, some rumor that needed to be spread as if the gossiper would die if they didn't. There were very few places in Haven that you could escape all of that, have time to just sit and think where you weren't interuppted.

Yet as soon as she set foot onto the street with so many spells set on it, Delaney felt so much safer. The people there didn't have time to stop and talk to her, but everyone protected their own in Haven, which meant even if she couldn't survive on her own, there was always someone out there looking out for her. Sure, the rules were constricting in certain vital areas, but she just went with it now, until she could find her ways around the rules. After all, that was what she did, she found ways around the rules, ways to get what she wanted. That was how she got her human legs, that was how she would regain her voice and get love.

She moved lightly on her feet as she made her way down the street to the small cafe that many of the tales spent their time. It had become a habit, letting her feet touch the ground as little as possible, considering her past back in the homelands, where her first time walking had felt like a million shards of glass. It didn't feel like that anymore, but she had learned to walk that way to ease the pain and just never broken the habit. The cafe was her usual second stop most days. Only when Kalani was there though. He always knew exactly what she wanted, and she always got there just in time for him to be going off his shift.

A bell tinkled as she pushed the door open, and the tall young man wiping the counter down looked up, flashing her a smile. She smilled back, walking towards him. She slid into a stool, offering another smile for her friend. "To go?" he asked, without even asking what she wanted. Delaney rolled her eyes, reaching out to touch his arm so he could hear her words.

You don't even know what I'm asking for.

"Of course I do, little sister. A corn muffin and an iced soy latte, heavy on the whip." he grinned knowingly at her and again she rolled her eyes, waving her hand at him in a clear 'get to it' gesture. Kalani laughed at her, though he did start moving. Delaney was one of very few people could just comand Kalani around like that, mostly because he knew she was genuinely grateful for whatever he ended up doing for it. She did tell him often enough.

Everything he gave her was to go, and before she could even take a sip of her latte, he was alreay taking off his apron. Touching his arm, she asked, You can leave then?

He nodded, moving to hang up his apron and grab a canvas messenger bag from one of the hooks. "I'm all yours if you'll have me." he told her with a cheesy smile. She would've laughed if her vocal cords allowed it. Instead she slid off the stool, taking her muffin and latte with her. She was the one who led the way to the door, with Kalani following close behind her, the lanky brunette male towering over the petite red head. She looked over at him when they were back out in the sun, taking a sip of her latte as she leaned to press her arm against his.

We should go to the park and soak up the nice day.

Looking down at her, Kalani raised an eyebrow, as if suspicious of her motives. "That really just means you want me to push you on the swings, doesn't it?" he questioned. She shrugged her shoulders innocently, then nodded.

Kalani had the same routine almost every morning. Get up quietly at five in the morning, as to not wake up his partner, stumble around in the dark for a few moments before finding the clothes he needed and then make his way to the bathroom. From there he would shower, get ready, all just as quietly. However nice their apartment was, the walls were so goddamn thin, and he would feel bad, waking up the Piper if the other didn't need to be up. And from there? He would leave, walking the five minute walk to the coffee shop, arriving no more then ten minutes early for his six AM morning shift.

And then all he would do was work, five and half hour shift, one that he had five out of seven days a week, plus one day on the weekend that the shift was usually later in the day.

Of course, the young man formally known as the feral child, Mowgli the Frog, wasn't bitter about this. No, not at all.

Really, it wasn't that the human world was hurting Kalani; he had had hundreds of years to get used to it. And there were so many things that assured it was nothing like the human villages he had known in his past, things that kept him there. But in his own opinion, the jungle was a world that was hard to top. Nowhere near as repetative day after day. So much variety. One had little chance to grow idle in the jungle, because if you weren't on your toes, the food chain caught up with you all too fast.

That had been one of their few advantages during the homeland wars. The adversary's troops had grown full of themselves, but taking over a kingdom with people who hadn't fought everyday of their lives was nothing like taking over a jungle of cunning animals. The villages that had surrounded their jungle had made them relaxed, sure that no one would fight. Who was there to fight? Surely not any of the inexperianced 'warriors'. But once they set foot into the jungle, it was another story completely.

Kalani shook his head. This wasn't the time to be thinking of that. If his watch was right, then the girl-fish would be coming in soon. He would make her the usual, and they would leave together, up to something new, like they did many days a week. Sometimes he would help her do her odd jobs to earn money, other days they would wander aimlessly, talking to whoever they came upon, and if they did neither of those they would just end up finding someplace quiet and waste the hours away in their own special communication, sharing stories and playing games.

If most of Haven didn't know better, many people would say the girl-fish and man-cub were more then just friends, but they did all know better. Who was girl-fish? The lovely former mermaid, Delaney. She was the first human that Kalani had ever really befriended of his own accord, and the only other human to make the trip from the homelands to Haven with him and his jungle family. Everyone had a bond like that in Haven if you didn't come on your own or with the person you had already found true love with. Belle and Edward were the perfect example of a coulple that came together. They shared the secrets of that journey between the two of them, there was no third party to be left out of it. Kalani and Delaney were the perfect example of two that found each other and came together, only under friendship. There were things Delaney knew about how the homeland wars had gotten to him that his partner would never know, because they had made their ways to Haven seperately.

Speaking of the girl-fish, her she came, as graceful as ever, putting most any female tale to shame, no matter what everyone else thought. The other female tales were pretty enough, but they were just-- he didn't even know. Maybe it was prejudice for his 'Little Sister', as he was calling her now, as he recited her usual order from heart. Laughing, he turned away, getting her muffin and making her latte, sitting both in front of her, then proceeding to take off his apron, knowing that her arrival always fell right in place together. She touched his arm, her voice quiet as alway in his head. Going to hang up his apron and grab his bag, he turned back to her, a corny smile spread across his lips.

"I'm all yours if you'll have me."

She rolled her eyes, and soon she was leading the way out of the shop, leaning slightly against him to maintain the necessary contact for their talk. As she suggested they go to the park, he raised an eyebrow. "That really just means you want me to push you on the swings, doesn't it?" he asked her. She tried to act so innocent as she shrugged then nodded, but he could see the smirk that played around her lips. It was now his turn to roll his eyes.

"Compromise, okay? We just sit for a little while, because I've been on my feet all morning, and then I'll push you on the swings." he suggested. She pretended to think about it, then of course nodded as the entered the gates to the park. They found a space in the grass to sit, just as they had decided to.

It seemed as if this was going to be one of their wandering and talking days.

me: i do it solely to entertain my friends.
well, not really, but you felt special there for a second, didn't you?

josh: a little

me: SUCCESS!
i almost spelled that wrong

josh: good job.
