Life is a story...
It doesn't matter how Adam has looked at his life, he would exchange it despite the shaft he got from the hand fate had dealt him growing up. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky to a sixteen year old mother, the teenager didn't actually notice the pregnancy but once he was born. The girl was more then ready to give him up for adoption, that was until her mother stepped in and told her a simple rule. "If your enough of a woman to hop into bed, then your enough of a woman to raise this child". The teenager forced to keep the unwanted b*****d child, calling him her son despite never wanting him. Despite the teenagers resent and disgust for her own offspring, only encouraged his grandmother to step in and try and show him a normal childhood. Every Christmas Eve he was given two presents, one from his mother and the other from his grandmother. The old woman telling him, "Your father, Santa Claus. Will give you the rest of your presents tomorrow". It filled him with joy to hear of Santa Claus, believing in his heart this man had been his father being delivered one day early.
Beginning school wasn't to hard, he was a very likable boy and tended to be rather popular amongst the children. Many of them thinking he was funny for his childish antics, there were bullys but mostly friends amongst his peers. The teachers never hearing of his mother only assumed he was raised by his grandmother, never really getting the gist of what was going on at home. Adam seeming like a perfectly normal and outgoing boy, making friends with even the shyest of children and attending their birthday parties even if other kids talked about ditching them.
Around 7 years old, he was sound asleep at the end of his mother's bed since they couldn't afford his own bed at the time. Waking up to screams and loud moans of his mother, terrified he turned over to see what was going on. Only seeing something a lot more disturbing then he had thought, finding his mother having relations with man. When he went to scream for his grandmother to help him, she full on slapped him. Telling him if he didn't go back to bed, he would get something worse then a slap across the face. This became one of his mother's habits growing up, he tried his best to ignore her and whatever male and sometimes female guest she brought to bed. Around eight in a half years old, he began to just sleep in the living despite his grandmother's distaste for him not sleeping in a bed. Adam never bothered to tell her about what had happened with sleeping in his mother's bed, some ways he hoped that he could forget his mother's business.
Everything seemed to fall apart around twelve years old, his grandmother developing cancer and slowly passing away. Despite his mother's bitterness and not wishing to visit her, he would walk himself to the hospital every chance he got just to see his grandmother. Although his grandmother was slowly losing her ability to speak to him, he would sit in the same room and chatter about what was going on at home. Telling her how he couldn't wait until she got better and came back home, he even told her how they could throw a celebration party for her health. These childish hopes and dreams came crashing, the next time he went to visit the Nurse telling him that she passed away quietly last night. That he should have received the news from his mother, the one who barely even could look at Adam since birth. The day of her funeral his mother seemed to just want things to hurry, nobody really came aside from family that was barely in touch with her.
When they buried her into the ground, there was little to no emotion that Adam could honestly feel in him. It was like they buried his heart along with his grandmother's lifeless body, when the services were over. Adam's mother moved them out into her boyfriends house, telling her son it was only to help his healing to forget of his grandmother. Life didn't get any better in his new environment, in fact that was when he began to hear voices of his grandmother and a couple of them which encouraged bad behavior. At first Adam believed that his grandmother had come back, many times trying to converse with the voices that he heard. Around Thirteen was the peek of his problems, seeing his grandmother walking through the house and chasing after her. However pleasant his grandmother had been, there were also other hallucinations that would plague him. One of them being a rotting man missing his head, that would charge at him at random times, out of instinct was to get out of the way or scream. This always caused issues at night time, explaining to your mother and her boyfriend you saw something that wasn't there became embarrassing.
After having a compete freak out when the hallucinations of his own shadow attacked him, his mother told him that they were going out for a drive. Just a small drive to calm him down like grandma use to do, getting into the car as they backed out of the driveway and headed down the street. The first time in Adam's life, she actually talked to him like he had been her child which sealed the deal that she was ridding him. Frowning subtly as he listened to her speak about how proud she was, how she never quite wanted him but there were better things in store for him then her life. Stopping at the bus station and telling him to get out, he opened the door and stepped out as he watched his mother for the last time leave him. Someways he held this moment as his mother's way of showing him affection, as he began his way through the world as a homeless thirteen year old.
Most of the time, Adam tried as much as he could to keep his problems under control. Although they seemed to amplify around eighteen, to the point he lost most touch with reality and just went with the flow of life. Most the time he slept in parks on benches or back alleys, it wasn't until his nineteenth birthday that he was apprehended. Originally bringing him to jail for begging and resisting arrest, but soon it became more serious when he began to talk to himself excessively. When he was questioned of his parents, he answered simply with "Mr. and Mrs. Claus". They agreed that he possibly had some mental instability, and should be given to the right authorities. Soon after being turned over to the mental house, they began to toss him about from hospital to hospital. Sure his hallucinations had been gone, but his perception of reality was not quite devolving like it should. Adam was soon a lost cause, functioning in normal society would be to hard for him. They soon sent him to Requiem Woods Psychiatric Institution, after all he was considered a waste of space to the governments eyes.
The first time he had stepped into the hospital, he knew that this wasn't like the other facilities he had visited in the past. They brought him to his dark cell, keeping him in the straight jacket as he sat down on the small cot. Quite unsure how to react to the new environment, most the time he was in pitch darkness so visual hallucinations had seemed to disappear. The only ones he could have were audible, it was hard to tell apart a scream from a patient or a scream from his own imagination. The only time he would have contact with beginnings was when he was taken out for painful experimentation, although surviving by threads. Adam refused to let himself die here, he wanted to die where his grandmother passed away. In a warm bed, cozy with nurses and people coming in to talk to him even if he couldn't talk back. Soon the door opened once more, the expairment was putting him into a room of seven other people. It was exciting for him. When the plans came up, he was extremely excited with the fact they could get out and walk around without worrying. Something he had been dying to do in the last two years, when the plan was placed into action he only could smile. As the cell doors slowly slid open, this time the light showing freedom instead of the shadows of the cruel men.
When he got out of his cell, one of the members quickly helped him out of the straight jacket and he followed through. Stabbing into the caregivers and patience without much regard, all he knew was the plan had to work. Slowly dwindling down the lifeforms in the building, until their mission was competed and they had been the only ones left standing.
I'm the main character...
The normal schizophrenic case would be antisocial and lacking any sort of empathy, however he tends to be on the rarer of cases. Adam does have desire to form companionship with other people, although he tends to be easily used by them. Most the time this desire tends to blow back in his face, particularly from the fact he tends to state things at inappropriate times and usually a little bit perverted. Most the time he tends to live in his own world, which makes it hard accepting reality that other people live in. It isn't abnormal for him to be aloof, he never quite likes working really hard at something. There are also moments where his attitudes completely change, where he will go to the stereotypical schizophrenic case and become isolated. When hes isolating himself, he usually is more defensive and empathetic towards people. This behavior is usually triggered when something is upsetting him, never taking approach to 'solve' the problem.
