Harper had the arms of a barnacle. Two scrawny little arms had him trapped on his side, forcing the male's blue eyes to bore holes into the wall. At best, he was classified under the category, "boyfriend". At worst, he was a pathetic excuse for a space heater. And at that moment, he could almost feel the word "heater" slapped on his forehead. Boyfriends had sex to wind up in this position. He just slept there, b***h boy to the snoring seductress strapped to his back. In fact, sex was one thing amongst many others like dates and personal space that had slipped from their relationship. And in its place, there was take out and unwanted spooning. In the recent months, they had fallen from a very physical couple to pleasant co-gender roommates with hardly any affection at all. But there he was, just laying there, mildly irritated at the woman's positioning and too lethargic to shove them off him. They were at a standstill. So that's how they stayed.
As soon as Jack was drifting off to sleep, Harper was screaming about how they'd be late. He cringed. She had impeccable timing. He opened his eyes and forced himself to sit just to shoot her a look of pure venom, but of course, it was wasted because Harper the graceful had fallen out of bed. He fell back onto his pillow, rubbing his face. The male groaned. Today was going to be a long day, to say the least. While any other man would be ecstatic to go on a couples' retreat with their girlfriend of eleven months. But Jack was a cynic and ecstasy doesn't come easy. And the early hour didn't help, the brunet was definitely not a morning person. But regardless, he got up and dragged himself over to the closet. What used to be completely his had been invaded by Harper Bennet. The twenty-six year old now had to dive into the depths of his walk in to get any of his clothes out. As foot stepped on the skinny heel of one of her pumps, a frustrated cuss slipped from his lips, "God dammit." He didn't know how much more he could live like this. And luckily enough, he wouldn't have to for much longer. After this trip, they'd be done. He couldn't ******** wait. After shoving her garments a few inches, he was able to flip through his clothes and yank out a charcoal button down and a white beater. A trip to his dresser provided a pair of jeans and underthings. He changed out of his pyjamas; and having showered and packed the night before, Jack was practically set to go. He swiped his shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste off the nightstand, lazily trudged into the kitchen, leaned over the sink and tapped the on button.
Once shaven and dentals cleaned, he set them in his suitcase and zipped it up. He crossed the kitchen, put a pot of coffee in and then busied himself with putting their luggage in the car. He came in just in time to watch Harper ruin her dress. He raised a brow. 'What a stupid question,' he chided silently. He never liked mustard, eleven months should've taught her that. Of course, in the beginning they were occupied with other things than talking. Jack didn't consider this. He was right. It's just how it was.
Within a second flat, she was in her underwear and rushing to the laundry room. Harper and laundry was like watching a train wreck. She'd ruin that dress if she even messed with laundry. The male couldn't even count how many times he'd ended up with shrunken shirts in their relationship. Typical Harper to get mustard on a dress right before leaving. He almost smirked at her panic. Almost. He followed her into the laundry room, only steps behind her, and snatched the dress out of the wash machine. "No, you don't just shove it in there." He stated matter of factly, glancing at the yellow blot staring back out of the white fabric. It was times like these that he felt more like a father than a lover to the girl. Sighing, he stooped down, got a bucket and the Oxy Clean out. The little green scoop was full of the powder before it dawned on him. They were short on time. There was no way that he could get the stain out before they left. So he dumped the scoop back into the container, shoved the bucket back under the laundry room's sink and set her dress on the washer. He'd deal with it when they got home. The Californian returned to the kitchen, the smell of coffee and bacon in the air. He went over to the plate of bacon Harper had set out and frowned in confusion. He didn't remember buying bacon recently. It had occurred to him that Harper could've, but not wanting to risk it, he just grabbed a thermos out of a cabinet and dumped some coffee in it. Jack'd done no more than screw the cap on and sip at it when the female's voice rung out again. He groaned, took another hot swig and went to go play hero to the princess, taking pulls of his coffee down the hall.
Jack found her where he expected her to be. Standing in the closet, hands on zipper and back, and wearing frustration all over her features. It was almost laughable how distressed she seemed to be over this dress thing. The Lucas handed his thermos to her and simply said, "Turn around." Once she complied, he gave the zipper a tug upwards. Nothing. He tried to unzip it. Nothing. Not even an inch. His brow furrowed. He pulled the fabric closer to him, not paying much attention to how the dress sat on her anymore. Jack stared hard at it for a second and brightened as his eyes fell on something. He pulled the fabric on each side of the track away from the zipper and wrenched some cloth from in the zipper and zippered it up with only slight difficulties around her waist. Jack raised his eyebrows and thought about quipping a smart statement, but held his tongue. He didn't plan on being bitched at for the rest of the day. Girl were sensitive over that stuff. Instead, he retrieved his coffee, asking nonchalantly, "There. Now, can we go before you spill something on this one?" He wouldn't put it past her. He threw her a breezy smile and retreated into the kitchen, scooped up his keys and slipped on his grey plimsolls. Time to get this show on the road.
ooc :c i'm so sorry, this is overdue and terrible. it'll get better, i'd bet you a fiver if i could.
i just wanted to get it done so you wouldn't think i ditched. :c he'll be nicer once the coffee
kicks in.

- "We're gonna be late, just shove it in already."
"But I can't, it's too tight!"
"Rosie, this has got to the be the smallest-"
"I can't help it if it's small."
"Whaddya mean, you can't help it? You're the one tha-"
"Okay, okay, already, just shut up and push!"
There was an eighty-two year old woman wearing an expression that simply screamed her complete horror and disgust inching along the edge of Rosario Rogers' driveway. It was reasonable enough, considering the heard conversation and lack of clothing on her driveway; it would make sense to assume that she'd stumbled upon a foursome right there on the driveway. However, the woman was wrong; because instead of engaging in public and crowded sex, the only thing getting anything put inside it on that driveway was the Beetle's trunk - and even that was a disaster. Three leggy women had stood there, cramming and rearranging the contents of the Beetle's trunk for twenty minutes and it was to no avail. Rosie scowled, tucked her brown hair behind her ear and threw her arms around the last bag like a linebacker and ran. It didn't budge an inch. She let out a light scream in exasperation, slumping against the unmovable bag. This was taking far too long. "It's not gonna move, Rosie." Liz said, helpfully. The brunette picked up her head from the bag's folds and simply looked at her. "Really, y'think so?" Rosario's head dropped against the bag again. Her stomach sank as the possibility of her getting fired dawned on her. Somehow, they had to be at the hotel and with all three bags in fifteen minutes. It seemed practically impossible. Just as the Rogers was about to throw in the towel and do the honorable thing (quit), it hit her.
The term "jungle fever" had a new meaning as three heavily foliaged women raced through the lobby, their stilettos clacking as they raced to the suite. They might've been stared at, Rosie didn't know. It took all of Rosie's concentration not to fall as they weaved in and out of the loitering lobbyists, and yet, as she rounded a corner a bundle of flowers fell. She stooped down and scooped up the mess of flora. But just as she did so, something weird about the potted plant caught her eye. It was staring at her. She froze in midstoop, her mouth slightly open in a simple surprised 'o', and plopped down on the floor. And so she just sat there, the plants staring at each other. It was unusual, to say the least.
"Hello."
Rosario had never met a staring plant nor had she ever encountered a creeper, but the feeling in her stomach had told her that she had met either one or the other. Because what kind of person sits in hotel lobbies, staring at people from behind a potted plant? Creepers do. Rosie frowned at the thought. She could be staring face to face with a creeper and wouldn't know it. She inched closer to the pot, straining to get a better look at the eyes' face. "Rosie, what're you doing?" Liz shouted, snatching her attention from the weird plant with eyeballs to her friend. Liz was gorgeous and good at her night job, but was a little rough on the edges. Snatching up the last few flowers, she set one in the pot, quipping, "Beat it, bush. Someone else might see those pretty eyes of yours." The lady of the night threw it a grin and then it was back to Rush Hour 5: Race to Room 206.
Once arrived, Rosie, Liz and Emily had stripped down to one jungle woman costume each instead of several, and began to resemble women again rather than plants. Which was lucky, because by the time the rest of the girls had changed into their costumes, it was showtime. Bundled up in bathrooms, a herd of nineteen women shuffled through the hotel's halls to the lounge's bathrooms. Liz and Rosie entered in through the lounge and instead of being greeted by the hotel manager and given the low down like she was told would happen, they got was a group of men in paper hats and too crisp shirts for guys going to a bachelor party. Rosie looked at their eager faces and asked, "Where's the groom?" It was a simple enough question. It just needed a point or short sentence in answer. But the men were silent for a moment. Rosie wondered if they knew how to speak. And then they exploded with explanations, complete with hand motions and sound effects. It was almost the kind of scene that you needed to take two steps back and say, "whoa." Liz elbowed her way to the front of the group and snapped icily, "Shut up." They did. Her lips turned upwards in amusement. "You," She pointed a finger at the nearest man. "Me." He pointed at himself. Liz slinked over to him and ran a hand down his chest, drawling as she stepped nearer with every word, "Now, where is he?" The male's eyes were locked on Liz's perfect face as he stammered out, "I-I-I-I dun -" He almost would've finished if he hadn't gotten an elbow in his side. Another stepped up and said, "Here. I'm the groom." Rosie grinned. The lot of them were almost cute, in a geeky kind of way. Liz quirked a brow and looked at her. Rosie shrugged. She didn't know how these things worked either. Liz sighed and answered, "Alright. Be back in five."
After ditching their robes in the lounge's adjoining bathroom, the girls were back in the lounge, greeted by a rowdy group of men, whistles and cat calls drowning in the music's beat. The girls danced their opening number, shimmying and shaking to the music. Overall, they were a pretty seductive bunch. But for Rosario, sexy didn't come easy. She did the moves like any other girl, whipped her hair when it called for it, but there was just something awkward in the way she moved. If she didn't need the cash, Rosie would've died of embarrassment right there on the lounge's stage. But as she juggled four other jobs besides this one and there were plenty of men with tips to be had, dying was not an option. So the Rogers lifted her chin and pushed her shoulder back and tried to slink around like the best of them. When it came time to go out and entertain them off the comfort of the stage, she rubbed up on men here and there, collecting a dollar occasionally. Slowly, she was making her way to the bar, because honestly, she needed a drink.
ooc: not very good, but i gave it a shot. D:

- The mere idea of walking the remainder of the trip was enough to bore her to tears.
After five excruciating hours of complete and utter monotony, the ferry was finally pulling into the dock. Passengers were rising out of their seats, blubbering away about God knew what, all in some kind of pathetic excitement to get off and enjoy their time in their destination. And then there was Marcella. Marcella Jacobs was sitting in her chair, chin resting neatly on her palm, staring aimlessly over the ship's railing, completely disinterested in what was going on around her. Her green eyes saw the pier and the swarms of people gathered around, but it made no difference. She'd never see them because she was going to die before she even had the chance to disembark from the vessel. The forty-three year old had resigned herself to her fate. She had four hours and forty-five minutes to do so, so that made her practically Juliet of Verona by the time they had actually gotten there. It was impossible to avoid and a nasty thing to catch. It was one of the worst things known to man. And on top of it, this might've been the worst case she'd ever come down with. Marcella moaned quietly as a feeling settled into her stomach that could only mean one thing and one thing only. She was dying a slow and painful death by boredom.
She felt like a little girl that was just told that there was no such thing as Santa Clause. Marcella had come on this expedition expecting a few months of adventure and excitement, but instead, she got a day of boredom and disappointment. As a woman that was far too occupied in simply having a good time than others of her gender, this was a crushing reality. In fact, her preoccupation with amusing herself was the reason why she was in this mess in the first place. Not only was Chella was a first class pilot, a highly experienced captain, but she also dabbled in driving automobiles. Over the years, she'd made it a priority to become accustomed with various types of transportation, switching off whenever her interest dimmed. The woman was arguably one of the best of the best - if not the best. Combined with her expertise with radios and technology, it was a no brainer why crazy old Eicher had practically begged her to drive them to the "amazing Atlantis, the long lost city". And what a mistake that turned out to be. The forty-three year old sighed melancholily, resting her head on her forearms, staring out at the crowd she'd never get to see. Oh, what a pity it was to be she.
No sooner had she begun to make up her will and decide which of her cousins she'd bequeath her pilot's helmet (from the Amelia Earhart, naturally) to, she was interrupted by a tap on her shoulder. Scowling, she turned her raven haired head to face the tapper lethargically. An arched eyebrow rose. It was some old man she'd never even clapped eyes on in her entire life. He had a bald head that shone like her mother's good china and a moustache that probably had more turbulence than this entire ride. Marcella's frown grew deeper. His moustache was like a bright sign saying, "you're stuck living a boring and dreadful life!" Just looking at it reminded her why she was kicking herself for going on this trip. She hated that moustache. "What?" She sassed. That was it. No "sir"s or flowery language. It was blunt and straight to the point, almost downright disrespectful. At the age of forty-three, she was far too old to be saucy to her elders. But then again, she wasn't like other forty-three year olds. She was, in fact, a hypocrite of a woman. Dressed to a tee in typical Gibson Girl elegance, and yet she went traipsing around, loose ebony hair like a wild jungle woman's and driving any mode of transportation faster than she probably should. But the old man seemed unfazed and tactfully replied, "Ma'am, it's time to get off." And with one smooth movement, he gestured towards the seats surrounding her. They were empty. Perfect. The woman eyed him solemnly. Marcella could take a hint. Not only did he interrupt her helmet's bequeathment, he was now asking her to leave. The Sammarinese snatched up her suitcase from under her seat and left her seat and the man behind with a ladylike murmur, "About bloody time."
Once on solid ground once again, Marcella began to see the upsides of dying on the boat. For one, she wouldn't have to walk all the way through all these people. Everywhere she looked, there was people. It was exhausting to even look at the way they scurried about. She didn't have that kind of energy. But alas, the woman drug herself through the many clusters of people, shoving and working her way to the main road. She was ready to quit and go home on that awful ferry when she saw the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen in her forty-three years - a bicycle drawn carriage.
Twenty minutes of haggling and six lire later, Chella sat perfectly content in the back of his carriage. The bicyclist was panting Italian love songs (which had cost four lire extra) for her amusement as he peddled away to the secret site. It took about forty-five minutes and seventeen serenades to get to it, but once they arrived, Marcella was right where she started, if only in a mildly better mood. Bored out of her mind. So she threw the boy his ten lire and ditched him, lazily strolling down the path to the Commander. And once it came into view, it could almost be said that Marcella Jacobs, the snappy and spirited (but granted, lazy) captain, was in awe. It was a huge vessel, quite possibly the biggest she'd ever seen, let alone navigate. A tiny flutter of excitement nestled inside her, bringing along a small smile. This could turn out better than expected. The female entered and with the help of a scrap of paper with instructions on it, made her way towards the meeting place, whistling and swinging her luggage as she did so. And then she saw them, a group of five varying people. She pulled on her polite face, the one reserved for special occasions and tea with Mother, and drawled in greeting as she joined their ring, "Looks like I'm late. Marcella Jacobs, your driver and the woman behind the lovely voice you'll hear every day over loud speaker. Nice to meet you." She flashed a smile as she introduced herself. Glancing around the ring, to call these people interesting looking was a serious understatement. Things were looking up.
ooc; what she's wearing. and yes, i know it's terrible. :<

- Apparently, Scotland liked their doctors like they liked their alcohol - overbearing and in abundance. And judging by the pair of malfunctioning eyebrows dancing all bout his forehead, it seemed possible they had gotten stuck with one of the many leftover doctors Scotland could afford to spare. Marcella wondered if there was a return policy on him; she'd never met a man with eyebrows that waggled that much, surely he was defective. Perhaps they could get one of the other doctors that weren't busy in Scotland. Of course, Marcella knew from Eicher's persistent rants about how "only the best, Signorina Jacobs - the best! - will be admitted into my crew" that this Malloy must be more than a rakish smile and a set of big blue eyes. But as a woman of forty-three, she'd seen more than her fair share of doctors, and as far as she was concerned, Malloy was just another number to add to the lot. The Sanmarinese couldn't deny that she found his forward ways almost charming, but had little interest in the character as his profession was terribly dull. Regardless, she edges of her mouth kicked up in amusement as he scooped up her unoffered hand and gave it a quick kiss, spewing his introduction. "Charmed, Dr. Malloy, but the pleasure's all mine." She revoked her hand from his, casually wiping it as it brushed against her skirt and quipped with a grin, "I'll keep that in mind, Doctor. But, first, perhaps you can help me with my memory. It seems that it's gotten so bad I don't remember offering you my hand. Tell me, can it be cured?" She asked feigning innocent anxiety before her grin broadening. Oh, Marcella had a feeling might have fun with this one.
However entertaining the doctor could prove to be in the future, Marcella quickly disregarded him as a lanky bean pole of a man came hurrying in, tripped on his feet and sent every scrap of paper he held flying. 'Way to make an entrance, Finch.' She thought, almost sympathetic to the man's situation. He was intriguing, to say the least. He was a grown man that carried himself as well as a pubescent would. But judging by that face of his, it looks like he might've just finished with it.
What on earth had she been thinking? The little interest that had been sparked only moments before was mercilessly killed in its tracks by their courageous captain and his droning on about fire drills and whatever else popped into that scruffy head of his. Her boredom, like allergies, flared up again leaving Marcella miserable and ready to jump ship. 'What if I just up and left right now?' The scene unfolded in her mind; she'd stroll up to Reginald, tap him on the shoulder and simply go, "Now, Captain, I'm going to let you finish, but did I say I was going to be the chauffeur? I meant I had one. Lovely meeting all of you, best wishes on your trip." Complete with a small salute and then she'd sprint away so no one could get a word in about it. But if she did that, she'd have to endure another perfectly dreadful ferry ride and walk all the way to the port without anything to amuse her. The mere thought disgusted the Jacobs. And so, she was stuck to bear this insufferable trip and all the less than entertaining additions. She almost died of relief when the captain dismissed them and promptly removed herself from his company. Reggie just needed some livening up. There had to be some sort of interesting manly man deep down in that Irish man. It just was going to take a little digging.
Marcella was painfully disappointed that her living quarters were adjacent to her workspace. It was almost a constant reminder of what she was expected to do - work. And that was anything but amusing. She nonchalantly tossed her suitcase on her bed, scanning the room. It was small and horribly dull. Marcella could almost feel the life being sucked out of her as she stood in it. The forty-three year old shuffled through her bag and pulled out a few books and pictures and set them around the room. Better.
