● Vindir (pron. vindeer)
● Male
● Elf
● Sloth
● selfish ● musical ● apathetic ● alcoholic ● wanderlust ● disloyal

In his youth, Vindir was more concerned with song, dance, and women, than war. Despite his promising swordsmanship and kinship with nature, his lackadaisical attitude and irresponsibility soured his reputation among his peers, and his refusal to fight against Kobos' army was the final nail in his coffin. His voice was stolen and he was cast from home, told only to return when obedient.

Instead of returning, he came across Kobos, who promised him his voice in exchange for his loyalty. Kobos twisted his innate skills. His kinship with nature turned sour, his presence causing decay and gifting him with that stolen life. His melodic voice, if spoken above a whisper, causes pain that scales with his volume.

Despite regaining his voice, Vindir is apathetic at best towards Kobos. Decades of servitude have left him the least loyal of the seven, though he isn't yet willing to give up his voice.

Slothful in the sense that he shirks his duties and cares more for enjoying himself. If he feels he's in a losing fight, he'll ditch before he puts more effort in than he feels necessary. He's largely successful in Kobos' quests (for fear of losing his voice), but will not aid in the war efforts unless directed. He's an incredibly skillful swordsman and can handle daggers with extreme accuracy, though he works little with bow and arrow given their tendency to decay quickly.

Ideally, I'd like him to flip if someone is able to restore his voice without the negative effects.

● Umbriel
● Male
● Giant/Wizard
● Heir to the Kingdom of Carque
● arrogant ● shameless ● meddlesome ● devious ● calculating ● flirtatious ● charismatic ● unwavering

Born of a giant and a wizard, blessed with strong magical abilities, and raised by his wizard brethren after the mysterious death of both his parents. Umbriel has no family that he knows of, only the wizards and witches that raised him. Whispers of rebellion have slipped past his ears all his life, and the desire for a better life has raged in him since he first cast.

His meddlesome behavior and often violent solutions have caught they eye of Kobos' men more than once, though he's avoided losing any limbs to the police. He's a friend of many races, with friendly eyes and ears across Kelovah. While he's deadly in battle, his enormous height (past seven feet) marks him a target. Because of this - and his tendency to charge forward and lead the fight - his magic is focused on defensive casting. This point had to be hammered into him over the course of many years by his magical peers.

He's well-known in major cities like Anchorin, and lives fiercely and wildly. Umbriel has seen many lives lost and knows his own life is a precious gift to be wielded for the greater good. He's a skilled swordsman, and his archery is impeccable (his magically guided arrows always fly true).

I think it'd be neat if he tried to get either the sword or the pendant and lost it to one of the seven because he's an impetuous a*****e sometimes. He's strong, wild, charismatic, intelligent, and gonna get someone precious to him killed if he doesn't reign it in.

Name: Vindir

Age: 213

Race: Elf

Role: The Fallen: Sloth

Biography: Vindir always had a lax attitude towards his responsibilities. He was more inclined to song and dance and flirtatious women than – well, just about anything else. His renowned voice, good looks, and devil-may-care attitude brought him as much trouble as it did fun. With the arrival of Kobos and the lurching turn towards war, Vindir found himself on the receiving end of ire from his clansmen. He outright refused to fight against Kobos. A losing battle, he said, is not one I’ll fight.

Tensions were high, morale low, and dissent unacceptable. Within hours he was brought before his peers and made an example. His voice was stolen and he was cast from his clan and told only to return when obedient.

Vindir met Kobos shortly after. A skirmish brought him to the demon’s feet, where an offer was made. Work as a special agent for Kobos and regain your voice. Bitter and desperate, he accepted. Kobos’ corrupting touch gifted him his voice, but it also twisted his very nature. His exceptional kinship with nature turned sour, his presence causing decay and gifting him with that stolen life. His melodic voice, when spoken above a whisper, racked the listener with pain.

For decades, he served the demon, though he had no care for fight. He made no effort to help Kobos’ goals unless explicitly told so. His anger at the twisted nature of his voice eventually subsided to apathy, and over time he forgot the warmth of nature, cocooned always in a bubble of slow decay.

SKILLS
▐░ ● Lifesteal: Stretching four feet from the point of contact, this ability causes a slow drain of energy/life from any object, living or dead. Lifesteal can quickly kill someone who is teetering on the brink of death, but requires prolonged contact for someone of full health. It works quickest on living creatures, but will also cause decay in objects like wood or cloth. Material like metal, stone, jewels, etc. hold up best against this decay and are easiest to keep up against the decay. When in contact with living things, Vindir has no need of sustenance.
▐░ ● Twisted Tongue: Kobos’ corrupting touch on his voice twisted the very nature of it. Above the sound of a whisper, Vindir’s voice causes pain. The pain scales with volume; at normal volume it’s a pain akin to an extremely hot shower and may cause minor muscle cramping. A scream can easily paralyze average people.
▐░ ● Elven Physiology: Vindir is naturally swift and agile.
▐░ ● Swords and Daggers: His natural skills at swordsmanship have only sharpened over his decades of service to Kobos. Given his constant cycling through weapons, he’s skilled with various styles of swords, as well as daggers.
WEAKNESSES
▐░ ● Magic: Vindir has no skill with magic and cannot defend against it. Decades ago he tried magically imbued jewels or objects, but found the magic decayed due to his ability.
▐░ ● Range: Vindir travels on foot once the horse he rides has died. He uses Kobos’ name to secure free horses and avoid those pesky poor folk who keep losing their livelihood to his lifesteal.
▐░ ● Reputation: Vindir’s reputation is far from shining, with his habit of killing horses, causing sickness in women he lays with, and the general decay that follows him. He namedrops Kobos to get around this.
▐░ ● Close Combat: Vindir is average in close combat, simply because of his Elven attributes and overall combat experience, but he avoids it whenever possible and will use his voice to make a quick getaway.
QUICK FACTS
▐░ ● Vindir’s bitter apathy towards Kobos and the deal they struck leads him to drink excessively.
▐░ ● He will run from a losing fight.
▐░ ● Vindir has poor archery skills since the wood decays from contact.
▐░ ● He namedrops Kobos when buying new weapons, which he does frequently, as well as other necessities. He spends his money exclusively on whores.
▐░ ● He still practices singing. Alone, far from anything living, once in a blue moon, he’ll sing to his heart’s content.

Name: Umbriel

Age: 38

Race: Half Giant/Half Wizard

Role: Heir to Carque

Biography: Umbriel was born of an odd pairing – a giantess and a wizard. Renowned for their strength and ferocity, they were rebels til death, a masterful but argumentative duo. They left their child in the hands of their dearest friends, a tight-knit roaming group of rebel witches and wizards who raised him to fight for the cause. Ever since his first proper cast – a spark in the fire pit, taught by the eldest witch – Umbriel knew he would wield his power for the rebels.

Umbriel grew to 7’ 10”, a towering figure on the battlefield, known for his violence and strength as much as his arrogance. His saving graces were his charisma and good looks and ability to turn the tide of any situation, be it a barside argument or a tilted battle. His meddlesome behavior often caught the eye of the powers that be, and while he avoided losing any limbs, he was well known to the officers of Anchorin. As he grew older, body wracked with the pains of a lifelong war campaign, Umbriel became more calculating in his battles, though his fiery, impulsive nature could never be tamed, only directed.

Now, in his extended age, Umbriel is a formidable combatant and friend of many men, both rebel and not. His impetuousness is fanned by his devious, meddlesome behavior. He’s seen many lives lost and knows his own is a gift to be wielded for the greater good. Unbeknownst to him, Umbriel is the heir to the throne of Carque and an integral part of the war against Kobos.

SKILLS
▐░ ● And My Axe: Umbriel is strong with swords and axes, though his strength is based more on his immense reach and greater strength than fine skill.
▐░ ● Magic Arrows: By imbuing his arrows with magic, Umbriel ensures they always fly true.
▐░ ● Defensive Magic: Umbriel, after much imploring from his family, focused his magical studies on defensive casting, which he employs during battle. This helps make up for his tendency to dive headfirst into the fray with minimal non-magical defense.
▐░ ● Giant Physiology: Given his heritage, Umbriel is taller and significantly stronger than humans, and can build and maintain muscle with less work.
WEAKNESSES
▐░ ● Giant Target: His size makes him a target in every fight.
▐░ ● Lumbering Giant: Umbriel is slightly slower than people of normal height, and wears light armor to avoid slowing himself any further.
▐░ ● Leeroy Jenkins: He will throw himself into a fight, as long as his people are in it, regardless of the odds.
QUICK FACTS
▐░ ● Umbriel loves to travel, drink, and eat his fill, though he doesn't always have the coin for his preferred lifestyle.
▐░ ● He's prone to disappear for a little handsome or beautiful side action.
FAMILY
▐░ ● Mother: Deceased
▐░ ● Father: Deceased

Nesaleah was once a revered local deity, native to the volcanic mountains near the capitol city of Carque. Though she was a minor deity, many in the capitol prayed to her for blessings such as healthy crops, strength, and protection from sickness. She was considered an ally of Carque and would on occasion fight alongside them. She was displaced when Kobos took power and has since followed the royal lineage in an effort to protect the heir.

They may offer sacrifices in the hopes that the creature being sacrificed will take the negative brunt of her two-sided blessing, allowing solely good blessings to fall upon them.

Daughter of Ohvaq, he crafted her from the night. For her skin, he called upon arachnids to weave the palest, softest, strongest thread from moonlight. For her eyes, he plucked two bright stars from the night sky. He bled a dragon for her blood and stained her lips with the last drop from its carcass. Her bones were crafted from ironwood grown in the cool shadow of mountaintops, and her flesh wrought from myriad gems. And when the moon was at its strongest, he breathed life into her body. In her youth, she answered the prayers of the warrior and farmer alike, doling out plague from her left hand and good fortune from her right. However, she had always desired the light of Urfolam. Though she was tethered to the moonlight, she told her father she wanted to walk in the day. Ohvaq was angered by this; he knotted her magics together so every blessing was paired with a curse. He allowed her to walk under both sun and moon, but at the cost of her sight: every hour spent in the light would weaken her eyes until she could no longer see.
