The steely-gray eyed female watched as James' expression softened, something she had yet to see, that same pain in her chest bugging her again. She wanted to say something, but the words were stuck in her throat, refusing to come out. It was futile to attempt it any longer, and she let it rest, sighing in frustration. Wallowing in her little puddle of sorrow, she could hear AJ respond to her question from before, although she payed no attention to it. Definitely not in the mood to speak.
From a distance, there seemed suddenly to be the pounding of music, resonating, which made her feel calmer, bright lights and cheery people coming in the direction of the small group. Were festivities already going on? She looked up and the sky was getting dark. The air was slightly chilly, and Arin rubbed her left shoulder, feeling cold, not unlike when she had first arrived here in the town. She looked to James, who mentioned getting out of the way, and she only nodded, following his lead.
As the rest of them came, she looked around, feeling that something was a bit off about this world. It felt too real, like she was living it. She certainly had had her share of realistic dreams, but none like this. However, it was more the people she had met, that seemed so real, so alive... that she was confused. What were they to her, and her conscious, that they seemed to stand out from the rest? She couldn't put her finger on it, but eventually she would know. That is, if she stayed within the dream long enough. There was a faint longing to wake up, just so she would be rid of these feelings, so that she could go back to being alone, with just her music. Arin removed the headphones from her ears, merely enjoying the liveliness and the music that the festivities brought.
'Just until it's over. That's how long I need to hold myself up.' she tried convincing herself, until she was back in her room, where she could indulge in a few tears in the comfort of her own privacy. Only, just how long would this dream drag on? She didn't know, and was little scared about it. She hadn't felt terror from something other than her anxiety attacks for awhile, and she wondered what other new things this dream would make her experience. In an attempt to keep her emotions afloat, and lighten her mood, her voice came out, soft and shaky like before, barely heard above the noise.
"If we only live once, then we should go join in on the festivities, shouldn't we? It doesn't have to be the parade, but there's bound to be some stalls open, and events to participate in around this town." Arin offered a smile, wondering what the others would think. Anything was bound to be better than remaining annoyed, and rueful of her situation. Already, the parade had made its way down the road they had just been on, and the music was fading slowly away, until nothing more could be heard.
