[b]Biography:[/b] Kaname's actually the Ancestor. He's one of the first vampires to have walked the Earth, and he eventually put himself into Sleep after losing his other half. Years and years later, Juuri Kuran gave birth to a boy that she named Kaname. Her other brother, Ridou, cracked (because he had loved her and couldn't stand seeing Juuri and Haruka together) and took toddler Kaname to where Ancestor Kaname was resting. He sacrificed toddler Kaname's life to bring Ancestor Kaname into that body. Later, Ridou would betray his family and that would lead to the eventual death of Haruka and Juuri. Haruka died defending his children. Juuri sacrificed her life to turn Yuuki into a human. Kaname and Kaien eventually collaborated to create Cross Academy, where he would have a chance to watch over his sister.

[b]Personality:[/b] Kaname is generally a calm, elegant, stoic and authoritative individual. He is very strict and often imposes discipline in a fierce way, yet he also can be indulgent and kinder (towards certain people, and very rarely). Kaname has acknowledged that he has a contradictory nature. His solitary nature makes him rather secretive. At times when he is with other vampires, he acts particularly cold and domineering, though he usually seems to treat them with detached politeness. If you can get past his facade, you'll find him to be rather mischievous, and he has fun teasing Zero in particular. Not sure if he's sadist or a masochist, and he has his moments when he enjoys being, err, dominated. He can be rather childish at times, and Kaname tends to be a bit (read: very) possessive. He's also self-deprecating.
