a brief history



Violet Sargent was pretty much raised in the US Navy by her single father, a high-ranked and high-feared Navy officer. She spent her childhood constantly relocating to wherever her father was stationed for that month until she was finally old enough to enlist herself.

It was in basic training that she met the love of her life, Patrick. Their love burned bright and fast, and within a year they were engaged and expecting their first child. Vi reported to work, as she did every day, but ran into a surprise interview with the commanding officer of SEAL Team 13. They shipped her off for a couple days to complete extensive physical and mental testing after reports had been received that she would be a good fit for a new anti-terrorist task force the commander was forming.

Tragically, Vi was a perfect fit-- with one exception. She had a family. Good soldiers have families to keep them grounded. Great soldiers have no family but their comrades. To ensure Vi was nothing but a great soldier, they eliminated the love of her life and terminated her pregnancy. From the very second Violet woke up in the hospital bed after the procedure she's only wanted one thing.

Violet wants to die.

Unfortunately, this was no regular task force she'd been signed up to. While hospitalized, scientists pumped her full of nanomachines and god-knows-what to enhance all of her physical capabilities. The nanomachines made her stronger, gave her quicker reflexes, and unwavering focus on the battlefield. She could now heal at supernatural speeds. The most bizarre result she experienced from their ruthless experimentation, however, was that even in point-blank range, bullets cannot hit Violet.

She has had the barrel of a gun pressed to her forehead, and when the trigger pulled the gun would jam, 100% of the time. Shots from a distance curve around her, defying all laws of physics. Explosives and pyrotechnics, even-- If Violet makes physical contact with a bomb, it will be immediately rendered inert. Violet Harper is damn near impossible to kill, earning her the nickname Fortune or Lady Luck on the battlefield. Ironic.

After vengefully throwing her last missions, she was discharged from the military, hilariously expected to continue living the life they savagely stole from her. She pulled a few strings and a friend of a friend of a friend put her in touch with Amanda Waller.

Suicide Squad, you say? I ******** volunteer.

Emphasis on the suicide aspect, Vi has gone on a number of missions for Waller hoping and praying that she'll fail. Her body heals too quickly to slit her wrists. She couldn't shoot herself if she wanted to. Poison is out of the question. Vi is waiting for the day someone figures out a way to end her miserable existence on this godforsaken planet. No surgically implanted bomb necessary. (It wouldn't work anyway.)





She still wears the engagement ring.
