As he pushed himself towards the back he found the pathway blocked by a male of the same age as himself. He was tall, perhaps even as tall as himself. Liam was around six feet tall, or something like it anyway, he was hardly one to measure his height often. The boy was brown-haired, and if he remembered correctly the he was from Ravenclaw. Liam could remember faintly that the boy used to be surrounded by girls very often because of his appearance. People said he was handsome, but where that came from Liam had no idea. This boy was like all of them was, annoying and selfish, but then again, so was he. Well, selfish at least, he’d heard he was annoying too, but that was their problem, not his. Quite low on niceness right now, Liam narrowed his eyes slightly and sneered.

“Get out of the way kid.”

The Slytherin male didn’t bother to wait for either a reply nor that the boy moved, but simply walked past him, bumping into his shoulder slightly. It was half accident and half on purpose. Liam didn’t like those smartass in Ravenclaw any more than he liked Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.

Liam was headed towards the front of the train, and hopefully he’d find a compartment without anyone from those three houses in it. He knew by now that it was hardly likely that he would find a place that was empty, so he would just have to manage finding a compartment with someone from Slytherin in it, possibly he’d find his friends.

He searched for the total time of thirty-four seconds before his luck made its appearance. As he slid open the compartment door he saw three boys sitting inside. All of them he knew well because they’d become friends at their first year at Hogwarts. They shared the same feelings of almost everything. “Finally. We thought you hadn’t made it or something.” The speaker was a platinum blonde boy with what you would call a “pretty face”. His name was Ceran Varaz and he came from one of the richest families of everyone in the entire school. If there was ever one who wasn’t afraid of saying what he wanted when he wanted, then this was the guy. He usually got everything he wanted just with a snap of his fingers, so you should be careful to cross this guy’s path. He could make you miserable for the rest of your life.

“Just got hold up in the hallway by some idiots.”

Ceran nodded understandingly. “They better keep out of the way this year, or maybe not, messing with them is always fun.” Ceran had a different sight on what was fun than Liam. What Liam thought fun was sitting quietly, reading a book or something like that. Messing with the other students was more troublesome than it was fun. He always went with it, but he hardly participated in anything. What he did was be a part of the group and look as threatening as possible. Much like the second guy in this compartment. Raff was what you’d call an idiot. The only reason Ceran kept him around was because he looked intimidating. He was taller than Liam and much broader and his face held the same expression all the time. He never smiled or laughed or anything. Keeping him around was useful, because the other students avoided him and in doing that they avoided them. He hardly spoke much though, he just nodded or said “Yes, sir” whenever Ceran asked him to do something. Much like a personal butler.

“I hope you taught them a lesson,”

In the corner near the window sat the third guy, Andrew Archil. To be honest, Liam had never really figured that guy out. One moment he could be all calm, then the next he could be shouting at someone who hardly bothered him. Usually he would stare at you with his creepy ice blue eyes and wear a grin on his face. There were plenty of people who started to sweat under this guy’s scrutinizing gaze, even he had to admit he didn’t like that guy. There was one word that would fit him more perfectly than anything else. Crazy. He was a pure madman and he enjoyed seeing others in pain.

“Of course,” Liam replied as he lifted his trunk onto the luggage rack, placed his owl beside it, and sat down beside Ceran. There was a downside to staying with a group like this. Liam liked to stay low and keep to himself, but there was no such thing possible staying with this group. They were the famous four from Slytherin, they lived off of ruining other peoples’ lives, and because of that everyone had a good idea of who he was. Ceran expected him to act like the others, meaning if he asked something, he expected Liam to obey his orders. And since Liam just couldn’t bother with refusing, as it was far easier just to do as he asked, then he did what he was told. Mostly it was Andrew who acted on Ceran’s instructions, but from time to time he would come to Liam as well. Liam didn’t mind all that much, the other houses deserved it, but he enjoyed keeping to himself and reading a book much more.

“What’re you doing?” Ceran asked, because Liam had gotten up from his seat. Those fierce jade hues looked at him with a hint of curiosity. “I’m going to look for the lunch lady. Need something to drink.” He replied. “You want anything?” Ceran raised his hand, placing a finger upon the corner of his lips, this was a usual gesture for him whenever he was thinking. “A chocolate frog would be enjoyable, and some pumpkin juice.” Liam just stood there, waiting, but Ceran didn’t move, rather he raised his eyes questioningly. Ah, of course, Ceran expected him to pay for it. If Liam had asked to get the sickles required he would just have gotten this in reply: “Why, you offered to get me something, why should I be the one to pay?” So instead of hanging around any longer he opened the compartment door. “I’ll be right back.” He said before he closed the door behind him.

Not before he’d taken a single step he saw that he was not alone in the corridor. Before him stood three people, blocking his way and making further passage impossible. Great. All three of them were girls, and judging by the similarity he supposed they were either cousins or sisters. One was of the same age as him, though he couldn’t remember seeing her before, and the two others might be first-years. Liam took one step towards them, crossed his arms over his chest, and narrowed his eyes (much like he’d done with that Ravenclaw guy). “You better be out of my sight within the next three seconds,” A slight pause. “Or you might find yourself possessing one less limb than when you boarded the train,” He smiled. "you wouldn’t want that for neither yourself, nor your sisters, now do you?” He’d decided to go with sisters rather than cousins.

                                            “You better wake up.”

The dark voice belonged to a tall man with pitch black hair. Tall, as everyone in the Mazaca family were, must be something coming from the genes. This man’s name was Nicholas, or Nick as he was called by his friends and family. His muscular form was leaning on the doorframe, surveying the room as he was waiting for a reply from a much younger man lying in the bed. His hazel eyes moved slowly, and from time to time stopped as they studied one of the many boxes that littered the floor. Not only were there several boxes, but books, clothes and strange objects had found their way into this small, cramped room. It almost looked like someone had sent a Confringo spell to blast every single object to cover the entire floor. The only place that looked undisturbed was the bed. It was placed in the middle of the room and both the bed and the person laying in it, seemed unaffected by the mess surrounding them. The twenty-three year old man gave only a low mumble in reply as he turned the other way. Nick rolled his eyes and a mischievous grin appeared on his lips. He brought out his wand and with a simple swish he’d summoned a bucket of water which hovered threatening over his little brother, and in another flicking motion the bucket emptied. Feeling satisfied that would get the job done, Nick now turned and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him as he heard ruckus coming from inside the room.

If there was ever a normal day in this house, Christopher knew none of it. Well, then again, this was as normal as it could get and was probably the only thing that could make Christopher get up this early. Wait…what time was it? It took some time for Christopher to find his watch, as it was buried beneath a large pile of boxes beside his bed, but when he did find it he let out an annoyed sigh. It was 4:34 in the morning. Why on earth had Nick woke him up this early? Knowing his brother it he had probably just found it really amusing, and he knew Christopher wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep now that he’d woken up. Well, there was no use fussing about it, he should have expected it. The fact was, his brothers found it very funny that, after him having graduated from Hogwarts almost seven years ago, today he was going to go back, and this time it wouldn’t be as a student, but as a teacher. Really, it could have been any of them, but he’d picked the shortest straw because he had graduated with the best grades out of them, including his sisters.

Christopher knew this was necessary, because they, meaning him and his four other siblings, had reason to believe something was going to happen this year, and it was vital that they had someone on the inside in case something happened. He wasn’t entirely happy about being chosen, because he thought he was of better use outside. His sister Ashley was a much better choice, because she at least, cared about the students. It wasn’t that he didn’t, but he believed in equal rights, which meant he wasn’t about to put one person over another. Or in other words, Gryffindor was on equal footing with Slytherin and wouldn’t be treated any different. Any student who did something wrong would be punished, and harshly. That was another thing Christopher believed in. When you’re punished from doing something wrong, you’ll eventually learn. (Though that seemed to be an exception for his brother Liam who’d never stopped making trouble no matter how many times he was punished). But nevertheless, the students might think he was an “alright” guy when they first saw him, but they’d learn different quickly enough.

Getting dressed was a hard matter nowadays, seeing as there was no system in this mess. It took him twenty minutes to find the box he was searching for, and it had been labelled Hogwarts, and within laid his teacher robes. There was a reason for this disorder however. Two days ago him, his two brothers and his two sisters had to move from their secret hiding to this place, and old house that looked ready to fall apart any moment. Certain circumstances had seen to that their old place might be known to the enemy, something which clearly wasn’t good, so they had been forced to leave that place and come here. The entire house looked much like his room, boxes everywhere, along with magical artefacts, potion ingredients among other things. They could have fixed the whole place with a simple spell, but they were only staying here temporarily, so they left it the way it was.

Christopher looked over the teachers robe once. It was completely black, a colour which suited him. After getting dressed he looked himself over and was surprised at how well the teacher look suited him. He would blend in perfectly, something which was their goal. Nobody should find out his real reason for going to Hogwarts. For now his story would be that he missed the school and wanted to go back, and becoming a teacher was just perfect for him. It was only his siblings (excluding Liam) who knew the real reason, and he trusted them to keep it secret. Satisfied with himself he moved out of the room and walked along the corridor until he reached the living room. Two pairs of eyes met his the moment he entered. The first pair belonged to Nick, while the other belonged to his sister Ashley. She had long brown hair and emerald green eyes like himself. Nick looked ready to burst out laughing. Christopher knew that guy wouldn’t forget this, not in a hundred years. Out of all his siblings Nick was the oldest, and also probably the most immature one.

“It suits you Chris.” Ashley gave him a genuine smile, and gave Nick a dark look when he couldn’t contain himself any longer. “Oh, will you be quiet. You’re going to wake up the others if you keep up like that.” Christopher raised an eyebrow at Ashley. “They came home an hour ago, and no, they didn’t find out anything new.” As expected. Sarah and Jasper had left a week ago to follow up on a lead they had found, but it seems they’d struck a dead end. When were they ever going to find some real information? Hopefully he would learn something when going to Hogwarts. “I made some breakfast for you, and lunch that you can eat on the way. It’s on the kitchen table.” Christopher thanked his sister and moved into the kitchen which only contained a small table and one chair. Ashley always took good care of them. Ever since they’d moved out from home she’d taken up the role as their second mother.

The hours trickled by slowly, but his hair eventually dried, and to pass time Christopher was reading through one of the many potions books that were on the students’ booklist for this year. In the living room Ashley and Nick were playing wizards’ chess, and by the sounds of Nick complaining, Ashley was winning once again. Each of his family members had one trait that made them stand out. Himself it was his ability to remain calm in almost any situation, Nick had his raw power, with Ashley it was her trusting side, Jasper were the hot-headed one, while Sarah was the one with the leader ability. His last sibling, Liam, truth be told there was nothing special with that kid. He would most likely get himself killed because of some woman. He had his heart in the right place, but his head just wasn’t following.

As the time grew closer, Christopher went back to his room and found his empty trunk. Like he’d said, they’d arrived only a few days ago, so he hadn’t had the time to pack before now. “Pack.” He said with a clear voice and with a simple flick of his wand everything, clothes books, strange vials and glasses among other things packed itself neatly into the trunk. Before he closed it, Christopher took of his cape and folded it too nicely and put it on top. The fact was, he couldn’t very well go to the platform looking like a wizard, but under the cape he was only wearing a simple black turtleneck and pants of the same colour. And as he threw on a dark green jacket he looked almost like any other muggle. He left the trunk in his room and walked back to the living room. “I’ll contact you in a few days.” Nick’s face was now serious as he spoke, “Don’t get into too much trouble ya hear me?” A weak smile appeared on Christopher’s face. “Of course not.” Ashley too seemed a bit worried for him. “Stay safe.” “I’ll see you soon enough Ash, don’t worry about me.” With that he turned around and walked back into his room. A second later both him and his trunk was gone, as he had apparated.

He was now standing on platform nine and three quarters. Oh, he sure could have apparated in from of the school, and entered that way. But he’d missed the train, and the feelings that had come with riding it in his younger days. Christopher looked around, there was still half an hour left, he’d arrived early because he didn’t want to run into his little brother Liam. The kid would have a fit when he saw Christopher, so, to keep the surprise from folding itself to later, he showed up early. Well, it would be early to Liam who he knew had a tendency to show up just at the last minute. As he looked around he saw none who was familiar to him, and this was not strange. The only ones he could have recognized were those who had been in the first year when he was in seventh, meaning those who were in seventh this year. But he was hardly likely to recognize any of those, seeing as they would have changed a lot in seven years. Instead of lingering, Christopher started heading over to the front of the train where he walked inside and found the teachers compartment. There was no one here, which was to be expected as there weren’t many teachers who chose to ride with the train, but found other ways to get to Hogwarts. Placing his trunk in the luggage rack, he soon sat down, and started studying faces outside on the platform.

It was early, far earlier than anyone would normally rise. It was the middle of the night, and you would hardly expect a sixteen year old to be up at this time, knowing that she would have to get up early to prepare. The summer was over, which meant this girl would be headed for another year at the wizarding school, Hogwarts. Perched on the roof of a large building sat Hailene. Her long black hair hung loosely over her shoulders, framing her too pale face. Her green eyes were full of intensity as she watched the sky above. There were no clouds this night, and the stars were showing themselves at their best, sparkling beauty nothing could compare with. To her, there was nothing more enchanting than the beauty of the night. The silence, the shadows, she didn’t know why, but all her life she’d been fascinated by its mysteriousness, and this was why you could often find this young woman up at this late hour. However, that was not why she was up tonight. No, the reason for that was as simple as excitement. She hadn’t been able to sleep, and seeking something to comfort and make her relax she had come up here. It was not the first time she’s come up here to calm her mind, she usually did this when she needed to sort out her thoughts. Being in this place she needed somewhere she could be alone.

This place was in fact and orphanage. Hailene had been brought here as a baby and have lived here ever since. She didn’t like this place, but there was nowhere else for her to stay. She had no parents, nor any relatives that could take care of her. Though it had become better the later years, as she’d become stronger in mind and could handle insults better. But if she had the choice she would have moved out of here immediately. A small sigh escaped those soft pink lips as she laid down on the cold surface. She put her hands underneath her head, gazing up at the stars. No need thinking about this place much longer, she’d be heading to Hogwarts in a couple of hours and need not think of this place before next year when she was going back. Letting her thoughts wander, Hailene soon found herself drifting off to sleep. Laying on this hard surface didn’t even bother her, she was used to sleeping on a hard bed so this wasn’t much different. It took only a couple of seconds longer, then her mind was far, far away.

“Hailene.” Someone was speaking. “Hailene, wake up.” The voice sounded strict, as if it expected to be obeyed. Yet this person should have learned by now that Hailene simply does not take orders from someone. The girl’s eyes fluttered open annoyingly, but closed them almost as quick. The sun was shining brightly, and she’d only been able to see the dark shape of a thin woman before she’d closed them again. Now she squinted slightly, and slowly raised her head to stare at the person in front of her. A tall woman, who appeared to be in her late forties, was standing in front of her, her hands on her hips. Lifting a hand to protect her eyes from the sun, Hailene saw this woman did not look the least happy. More so, she looked as if she was about to burst. Her lips were a thin line on her face, and her eyes were wearing too heavy makeup. For a moment Hailene felt the old feeling of panic grow inside her. Whenever she’d been a child, this woman had always punished her harsh if she did something she shouldn’t, and right now she was wearing the same face she used to back then. But Hailene was older now, and after drawing a deep breath the panicky feeling vanished. “What do you want, Gretta?”

The old woman’s eyes widened slightly. “What do I want indeed!” Hailene scratched the back of her neck as she sat up. It was a bit stiff. That’s what she got for sleeping on cement. “So, what do you want?” The woman seemed almost out of herself, Hailene wouldn’t be surprised if smoke started gushing out of her ears. That would have been kind of amusing. “Do you not remember, asking me so kindly yesterday, that I wake you up if you were to oversleep?” Gretta showed a hint of sarcasm as she spoke. It was almost a surprise to her that the woman actually could use sarcasm. But Hailene did remember. She’d asked, or more like demanded, that someone wake her up if she did indeed oversleep. Wait…did that mean she was short on time? What was the clock? Gretta seemed to have seen her concerned face, cause she continued speaking. “You would have deserved it if that was the case, but no, you are not late.” A relieved breath escaped Hailene and she could feel her heartbeat decrease again. If she wasn’t late, then what was Gretta doing up here now? Again she heard the answer before she was able to ask. “I was looking for you,” The old woman said. “I wanted to give you this,” It was first now Hailene noticed Gretta was holding something in her hands, or rather, her hand was curled around something. Curious now, Hailene got up from the ground and faced the older woman.

“I think it is time you got this,” When Gretta opened her palm Hailene could do nothing but stare, she opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again. She was looking at a silver locket. It was formed as a heart and was glinting in the sunlight. The frame of the locket held several intricate patterns, and for a moment her breath was caught by its beauty. But what had Gretta meant, it was time…? “It belonged to your mother.” Hailene blinked and looked up. “My mother?” The older woman nodded, and her eyes were soft for the tiniest instant as she laid the necklace gently in Hailene’s palm. Then she cleared her throat. “Now you better get ready, or you will be late.” Hailene nodded. “I’ll be down in a second.” Gretta narrowed her eyes, knowing full well that it would take more than a second, but she didn’t comment and left this young girl alone. Hailene’s eyes went once again to the locket, there was almost as if there was a spell on it, because she couldn’t take her eyes off of it. But that was not so, it would not be possible, because Hailene knew that her parents had not been witch and wizard. They had possessed no magical powers whatsoever. But the beauty of this locket surprised her even despite its lack of enchantment. She considered it for a moment, then slipped it safely into her pocket before she turned and found the stairs that lead back down.

Hailene’s room could be found on the second floor, as most of the other sleeping rooms could be found as well. She passed a young, black haired boy on the way, he’d come her the previous month. He glanced up at her curiously, but when her grey hues met his he quickly looked away. Hailene had the urge to roll her eyes, but she didn’t. She was far used to that the children in this place didn’t dare to meet her eye, they seemed slightly intimidated by her. She’d once overheard a conversation, about her tendency to stare. That her eyes were piercing as if she was studying their soul. It was hardly correct. Hailene did indeed like to observe people, to watch their reactions and feelings, to learn their every secret, but she was only human. She couldn’t see into your soul nor could she read your mind. All she could do was watch the change in your expressions and actions. The fidgeting, avoiding to look at you, shuffling of feet, those were only a few things humans tend to do when they were nervous. Hailene could often tell when someone was lying or hiding the truth, because she happened to be lied to very often. However, there did exist those people who were hard to read.

Her soft steps soon brought her to the far end of the corridor, and raising her hand to the doorknob she pushed it open and entered her room. Although it looked more like a cell really. There was nothing in here that could tell you what kind of person lived here, if you looked away from a trunk that lay open in the corner, with witches robes folded neatly inside of it. This room consisted of a bed with a bedside table beside it and a small chest of drawers. Yep, that was it. There was a single window in the room, also small, but it was the only thing that broke through the feeling of confinement. Right now sun shone through the window, but it was still fairly dark in here. Hailene walked over to her trunk and bent down. Beside the trunk was the books for this year, it was the only thing left to pack. She’d been reading a bit of them these past few days. She put them in the free space she had prepared and closed the trunk afterwards. When she was finished with that she went to take a quick shower, and threw on some clothes she had prepared. It was nothing fancy, just a pair of blue jeans and a black top. Of course, even if she wanted to put something fancy on, she didn’t own anything that looked good.

She’d been brought here fifteen years ago, not owning anything else but the clothes she wore, and being a baby, well it was nothing that could last for a while. As she got older she would inherit clothes from the other children, when they grew out of it. Two years ago Hailene had decided she didn’t want to take their money any longer. She didn’t want them to pay for her clothes, or her books and other things for Hogwarts. So, quite determined, she’d gotten herself a summer job. This way she could pay for the things herself, and still have some coins on the side. But despite this she was still quite poor, and her clothes were pretty normal. Yet this was all good, she didn’t like to stand out, and this way no one paid her any real attention. Lastly Hailene retreieved the silver locket from the pocket of her pants and put it on, tucking it on the inside of her sweater, then seeing she was finished packing and getting dressed she walked downstairs to find Gretta.

                                            “I’m ready.”

Gretta was busy pulling apart two children who’d been fighting and looked at Hailene for a second before she focused on the kids again. “Have you eaten?” Gretta asked. “I’ll get something on the train.” Hailene didn’t like eating in the mornings, and much preferred a later meal. “Milly will take you. She’s waiting outside.” Hailene nodded once then started walking, but stopped just as quickly. “Oh, as usual, I’ll be staying at the school for the holidays.” With that said she walked back up, got her trunk, and soon she was sitting in a car, heading for the station. Milly was one of those who’d appeared most recently. She was in her twenties, and always wore a pleasant and happy expression. The children liked her. Hailene found this woman to be over the top. But maybe that was because she couldn’t deal with constantly happy people. “So, you’re looking forwards to another year at school?” The woman asked, trying to strike a conversation. Hailene didn’t answer. “Where was it again?” Milly was oblivious to the fact that Hailene was a witch. If the woman knew she would probably stop the car and run away. She was the kind of person who got scared watching horror movies, and disliked Halloween. “Up north.” Hailene answered simply, her short reply would normally make people shut up, her tone suggesting the conversation was over. But, not this woman. “Oh? What is it called? Perhaps I've heard of it.” Hailene rolled her eyes and turned her head to face the window. "Doubtful."

The rest of the ride went by in silence. Milly seemed slightly nervous and several times she’d tried to start up another conversation, but Hailene remained silent. As they reached the station, Hailene got her trunk out from the back and faced the blond haired woman. For a moment Hailene studied her. The short blond hair, the striking blue eyes, the fit body. Milly probably had a boyfriend, if not she could easily get one. She was pretty. Hailene’s eyes going down to her hands and saw a ring on her finger. Ah, married. She’d hate to be that guy. “Ah…so…” Milly stumbled upon her words. “So…you have a good year, ok?” Hailene didn’t answer, but simply met her fidgeting eyes. “And…and we’ll see you…ah…when you get back.” She had the urge to laugh, this woman’s pathetic attempts at being polite was amusing. With a calm voice Hailene replied. “Can’t wait,” Of course, that was sarcastic, but nevertheless the woman’s face lightened up. “Bye.” Hailene turned on her heals and walked away, with her trunk in tow. She heard Milly’s voice from behind, stuttering ‘goodbye’ as well. But right now Hailene’s mind was on something entirely different.

She walked through the portal to platform nine and three quarters, and the sight brought a tingly feeling in her stomach. Her lips curled up in a smile. The red steamy train brought a sense of longing in her, and she sighed. She was going home. Her eyes swept over the platform once, and recognized several people who were standing there. But she’d have time to talk to those later, right now she just wanted to board the train. So that she did, and walked down the hallway, glancing inside those misty compartment windows. She was about to walk past another one just as she heard voices coming from inside. "Earlier you asked me how I was doing. The answer is simple, troubled. If the time comes, handle it for me...?" Normally Hailene would not pay attention to this simple sentence. But there was two things here that she found interesting. Looking more thoroughly through the window, she saw the speaker had been a seventh year by the name Alexander, secondly, his voice seemed serious, too serious. She was held for a moment, caught between wanting to hear more and knowing that to linger here would bring on people’s attention. In the end she decided that it was best to continue on, so she walked away. Before she’d gone far she saw a familiar face, and opened the door.

“Mornin’ Taby. Had a good summer?”

The mornings in the house of Mazaca were usually quiet. Despite there once having been eight people living under this roof, there was now only three who occupied the house. The other five had moved out several years ago, without any words of where they had gone. There were two people who might know where they went, and that was Jacob and Melinda, two highly busy parents. If anyone knew, then it had to be them. But they were both busy with their work, and were less likely to find at home than the last person who resided in this house. Liam Hale Mazaca. Liam was already sixteen years of age, but despite him being this old, he was never kept informed on anything that happened in his siblings or his parent’s lives. On the rare occasions that he would see his brothers or sisters they would treat him like he was a stranger, an outsider, more so than the brother he was. Perhaps it was because Liam was the youngest of them, but that was highly doubtful.

This morning should have been a tad busier than the previous ones, this morning there should have been yelling, running and more so there should be a trunk ready to be heaved down the stairs of the two story house. But, as usual, the kid who would be doing all those things was still in bed, dreaming most furiously about a barehanded fight against a dragon which he was most likely to lose. The only other sound in this house besides Liam’s mutterings was the sound of the Norwegian Forest Cat who was living in the house. The cat, whose name was Winter, was clawing on the backdoor, longing to get out, but there was no one in the house who heard him. So, disappointed as it was, it lazily made its way across the living room, up the stairs and down the hallway until it sat, looking curiously upon the door into a certain boy’s room that was slightly open.

With fierce determination the cat entered the room with a hidden agenda only known by this small creature. Its agile body moved purposely to the edge of the bed, then it sat down once more to observe its surroundings. Beside the only window in this room, upon a small table, was a cage occupied with a certain owl that this cat had no likings off. But the owl was currently sleeping soundly, and therefore could not warn the boy of the mischief Winter currently had in mind. The cat had no interest in the rest of the room, which was in its opinion very messy indeed, so after a survey that the owl was indeed sleeping, the cat arched its back and leapt onto the bed as light as a feather. There was only the soft sound of impact that would have worked as a warning had the cat not been so stealthy. If the cat had been human it would now be grinning as its eyes focused on the closest bare skin it could find, the boy’s arm. Before a second passed it had dug all its claws and teeth into the skin, and only a moment later the cat skedaddled out of the room and disappeared before the boy was able to catch it.

“Ahhhhg, damn you Winter! Yeah, you better run you coward!”

The boy’s shouting soon brought awake the owl in the room, which was now screeching on top of Liam’s cursing, making more ruckus than there had been in this house for quite a while. “Oh, shut up Nutt,” The chestnut coloured owl seemed offended by the male’s sharp tone and started screeching even louder than previously. “Alright. Alright! I get it, I’m sorry, ok? I shouldn’t have shouted at you,” He grumbled then sighed, and to his surprise the owl quietened. Turning his attention from the owl and down to his arm he winced slightly. There was seriously something wrong with that cat he thought as he watched small drops of blood form from several places. Annoyed that the cat had both interrupted his great dream, which surprisingly had started to turn in his favour, and that his arm was now throbbing slightly, Liam had no other choice but to get out of bed to do something about it.

It was not far to the bathroom, which was right across from his room. After going inside he cleaned his wound, put on some wizard potion that both soothed the pain and stopped the bleeding, then satisfied his arm would be any more trouble he made his way downstairs. It was a bit chilly in the house, and Liam was only walking around in his underwear, but he hardly noticed the cold, hell, he might not even have noticed if he’d been standing like this outside in a snowstorm. It was strange, but neither cold nor heat had much effect on this boy, and because of that he liked summer just as much as winter.

“You know, you could have just nudged me if you wanted me to wake up.”

The one he was speaking to was sitting calmly in front of the door, Winter’s tail was swishing back and forth on the floor and raised his palm calmly to lick it. Rolling his eyes Liam opened the door and let the Winter outside, then watched as the cat vanished around the corner of a building. There was no use talking to that cat. No matter how polite he was the cat enjoyed teasing him and wouldn’t stop no matter how nice he was. Scratching the back of his neck he trudged back up the stairs and to his room. There he found Nutter, which was the owl’s full name, seemingly jumping up and down on its stick. He was hooting lowly and his head was turned, watching the clock on the wall.

“Psh, will you stop worrying, we still have over an hour. Geez.”

There were times when he wanted to wring that owl’s neck, Nutt was sometimes more trouble than he was worth, but he was a useful creature too. Liam had gotten him when going to his first year at Hogwarts, and because of that there was now a connection between them, meaning Liam would be sad if something happened to Nutt. Liam found some owl treats and gave it to Nutt before he turned to his empty trunk on the floor. He hadn’t bothered packing the day before, cause well, he’d been too lazy to do it. This meant he had to do it now. So he shuffled around his room, and threw whatever he thought he needed for this year in the trunk. He had a problem with finding his socks, so he’d sneaked into his parent’s room and took some of his dad’s. Then he went back to his room and stuffed this year’s schoolbooks wherever he could fit them, along with cauldrons and other stuff. When he finished that he crossed his arms and nodded.

Now he just had to find some clothes to wear to the station. This took less time than packing his trunk, as he reached whatever was closest to him and pulled it on. A pair of jeans, a black hoodie with the words “I rule” written on the back, he found a white belt hanging over the chair at his desk and he took one of the pairs of socks he’d taken from his dad. They were black as well. He hadn’t put much thought into it, but somehow whenever he did that he ended up looking rather good, though of course he wouldn’t know since he couldn’t bother looking in a mirror. Without bothering to check the time Liam went back downstairs to grab something to eat. In hardly no time at all, seeing as he was almost swallowing everything before chewing, he finished that as well and was now back in his room.

“It’s still early, but whatever, let’s go.”

Nutter hooted happily and the two of them took a taxi down to the station. He paid the man what he asked for, and soon he was pushing a cart where he had loaded his trunk and the cage with Nutter. All summer he had been waiting for just this moment. Finally it was time to get back to Hogwarts instead of sitting in that empty house. Of course he could have been reading his school books or something like that, but those who knew him also knew he never did those things voluntarily. Nope, instead he’d been spending most of his vacation sleeping, or going downtown to meet with friends. However, there was nothing else he’d rather do than go back to Hogwarts, and if it was even possible he was looking forwards to this year even more than last.

Careful of not being seen, Liam soon was walking through to platform nine and three quarters. His wristwatch told him there was plenty of time before the train would be leaving. So for now he would see if he couldn’t find someone to bother. There were quite a few people here already, his emerald hues quickly saw a couple of people he recognized from Slytherin. Nope, no chance he’d walk over to them.

“Guess I’ll just wait a bit.” He said softly to himself and settled with leaning against the wall.

It was entertaining to watch the platform as it grew crowded, but after just about five minutes standing here lost its appeal. Liam hated to stay rooted in one spot for too long, and now he wanted to board the train like everyone else. He let his gaze sweep over the crowd one more time. He spotted some Slytherin’s again, but of course, he didn’t think any of those would appreciate his company. As if he even wished to talk to them. Nasty little bastards that they were. It was tempting walking over and drop a dungbomb in passing, that would give them a pleasant surprise no? Hm, but then again, he hadn’t brought that many, perhaps he ought to save it until later. But Liam was never known to be patient, and the temptation overcame him after the moment of two seconds passed.

“Wait here.” He said to his owl, although there was really no need as the owl were in no position to go anywhere. For a moment he stood bent over his trunk until he found what he was looking for. With a wide grin on his face he straightened again and gave the owl a wink. “Be right back.” Avoiding attention was hardly easy for this boy. Not only was he quite tall, but he had a reputation to be up to no good. He nodded politely to a few people that he passed, most of who stepped back quite a few feet. This was not good, if the Slytherins saw him coming…But to his surprise, they were chatting loudly amongst themselves, and were not paying attention to anyone who wasn’t worth it. Liam saw a sixth year excusing herself and he pouted. One less to take part in his fun. Ah well. He couldn’t exactly call her back. Acting casually Liam walked past them a few feet then did a turnaround and headed back towards his trolley, and just as he passed this small group he threw the dungbomb in their midst. There was immediate squealing as the dungbomb did its work.

Liam expected someone to shout his name, throw a curse after him, anything really, but the Slytherin group was far busier with getting away from the little smelly object than watching as Liam slowly made his way back to his trolley. Just as he returned to his former position he saw a redhead approach him through the crowd and a smile appeared on his lips. The kid would be in fourth grade this year, and belonged to the house of Ravenclaw. This meant that in normal circumstances Liam would not know who he was. He both had a bad memory when it came to names and faces, and were not likely to pay much attention to the other houses. But he did remember this kid, because the previous year he had happened to save him from a bunch of seventh graders from Slytherin who were messing with him. Now, Liam would normally play fair in a fight, but that time had been an exception. After all, the Slytherins had been four and the kiddo had been one. So why should he play fair when they didn’t? He’d thrown a bunch of hexes at their backs, then grabbed the kid and the two of them had gotten the hell away. “Yo, kiddo!”

"Hello, Liam. How was your summer?"

For a second Liam studied the kid and his smiling face. Summer eh. He scratched his chin for a moment, his eyes looking upwards, before replying. “Slept through it, so can’t really remember,” It was partly true. He hadn’t done much else than sleeping. Of course, some nights he would be spending at some of his muggle friends houses, but other than that he was sleeping either in his bed, on the sofa or outside on the grass. “But it was more or less crap as usual. Nothing interesting ever happens at my house.” There was a hint of bitterness in his voice. “So what about you then? Did anything interesting? Got a girlfriend maybe?” He bumped into Ren’s shoulder jokingly.

But before the kid was able to reply someone else joined them, someone which Liam definitely could not remember having seen before. He appeared to be of the same age as Ren if he wasn’t mistaken. Judging by looks and attitude Liam supposed the boy must be in Slytherin. What was he doing trying to talk to them? “Of course, can’t you tell?” Liam said in a calm voice, replying to the boy’s question. But the boy didn’t seem remotely interested in anything he had to say and spoke to Ren instead. Liam made a sound in his throat, barely audible, and turned to look at the clock. Wow, was it this late already? “Well, no matter how pleasant it was to speak with you kiddo, me and freckles have to go now, so scurry off to your friends or somethin’ yea?” Not waiting for Ren to agree or even move, Liam grabbed his trolly with one hand and hung his arm around the kid with his other, dragging him with him, leaving whatever-his-name-was standing alone on the platform. Just as they’d reached the train he heard angry voices coming from afar, turning his head he saw four shapes coming towards them, wands raised.

                                            “Uh oh.”

Luck had never been on this sixteen year old’s side. And really, he should have seen this coming. In a hurry to get the hell away from the platform he pushed Ren towards the train, while glancing behind him from time to time, watching as the four Slytherin’s got closer. They still couldn’t throw any spells or hexes due to the many people standing in the way, but it wouldn’t be much longer. He wondered how the four had found out it was him. Since it had taken this long someone must have told them or something right? Or maybe they’d figured he was the only one who would do something like this? Either way, if they caught up with him he would need to go to the infirmary once reaching Hogwarts, something he’d rather avoid right now. Just then Liam saw two other familiar faces on the platform and stopped for a moment. Or, one familiar and one familiar but cannot-remember-the-name-familiar. “Hellu thar Amelia, and…you other person. Doing good?”

“Filthy mudblood lover! We’re gonna get you now!”

“Oops sorry, can’t stay. Join us in a compartment, yes?” With that Liam pushed Ren aboard the train, leaving Amelia and the other girl as they vanished from the Slytherins eyesight. But Liam didn’t stop rushing once he got inside, but kept pushing the kid until he found an empty compartment. Or, so he thought. When he opened it and was about to walk inside he bumped into a person standing in front of him. “Watch it will you!” As the girl turned around he realized he recognized her, as he also recognized the other girl sitting on the seat near the window. “Wow, Hail, and Taby, fancy meeting you guys here.” Once Hailene had moved from the entrance he loaded his trunk and owl on the luggage rack and slouched into a seat beside her. “Woah, I’m tired.” Liam hadn’t at all noticed the glare he got from Hailene. “Oh yeah, before I forget. I invited some people over, they should be here soon.”

Uncaring as usual about other people’s feelings, Liam leaned comfortably back into his seat, his mind only occupied with thoughts of Hogwarts.

WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN WHEN I'VE GOTTEN AT LEAST 3 AVATARS I FEEL I COULD USE
PRIZE IS 1OOK
If it takes to long for me to find any avatares I like (over 10 days) then I will give 1ok to the one I think is best.

It is pretty simple. I've had a hard time making avatars I really like as of late, so I'm turning to you guys.

There are a few rule I want you to follow:

The avi has to be female.
Has to wear the first light skin.
No single item can be worth over 1 mill. (Exception: Golden Laurels, Gogh Reed, Hidden Ace, Angelic Pendant, Valhalla's Eternal Armor)
I have several mc's and evolving items so i don't care how much the avi ends up being worth.
Don't use the same EI more than twice.
When you use an EI, don't use any poses that are unavailable (Example: 2nd~ gens of Seracila)
        The avi has to match.
A maximum of four colours, a minimum of two.
You don't have to, but I'd like if you used one of these bases as a starting point:

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser Image
User ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser Image

If there's anything I've forgotten, don't be afraid to ask :3
