Enter the One and Only Kairai ![]() ﹙¤﹚Name Akasuna no Kairai ﹙¤﹚Titles/Nicknames The Princess of Puppets Bloody Sand Assassin (formerly) Kai-chan ﹙¤﹚Age Twenty-two ﹙¤﹚Gender Female ﹙¤﹚Birthday The seventh of April ﹙¤﹚Overseers Father: Akasuna no Sasori Mother: deceased, killed by none other than Sasori himself Paternal Grandparents: deceased, killed by Hatake Sakumo Paternal Great-grandmother: Chiyo-baa, deceased Caretakers: Ebizo, though he died from old age a long time ago Sensei: In a sense Akayoru, though the elder woman wasn't ever officially listed as such even if she did teach Kairai a few jutsu. Lets dig a little D e e p e r ﹙¤﹚Details Height: 5'8 Weight: 140 pounds Eye Color: Hazel, though much more brown than green Hair Color: Brown with red undertones Blood Type: AB- ﹙¤﹚Personality A little over three years ago people would've told you Kairai was cold and distance. She was the perfect example of a shinobi of old Sunagakure teachings; to her the success of the mission out weighted the lives of her teammates, and any order given was followed to the T. Like any good shinobi she was completely closed off and free of emotion, though it was to such an extreme that at sixteen killing even young children who got in the way of her mission didn't seem the phase her. As she took assassination mission more frequently she only became more and more ruthless. Kairai's disregard for human life was so similar to that of Akasuna no Sasori's that the elders debated if she needed to be 'disposed of' for their own safety. Instead she was taken off the special assassination team and placed as a squad leader in hopes that her cold exterior would melt away. Oddly enough, that's exactly what happened. Now empathic and more or less kindhearted, Kairai only kills within reason. While she had undoubtedly opened up to the word she still keeps herself closed off from emotional connections to people aside from her students (former or not) and a few select others. At a first glance this comes across as her just being adorably shy, though when strangers talk to her she usually responds with hostility, causing that claim to go straight down the toilet. Protective like any good "mother", she babies her "children" - that group including her first squad members (even if they aren't her students now) as well as her puppets - and often manages to find a way to blame herself if any harm should come to them ---- no matter how impossible it being her fault could be. She also enjoys teasing her students, her usual victim being Rui since during his time as a genin he managed to claim the place as her 'favorite', though she does get the occasional jab in at Tatsuya and sometimes (though very rarely) even at Soen. ﹙¤﹚Story Being the daughter of one of an S-Ranked criminal doesn't usually equal a merry childhood, and Kairai is no exception to that generality (even if no one from her village knows who her father is). Her mother was hidden in the village of Sunagakure once she became pregnant with Sasori's child, seeing as it was the perfect place for him to hide because it was the one place people wouldn't expect him to be. Kept safe from those who might want to do her harm, the lady was cared for by the Kairai's great-grandmother until the seventh of April when her baby girl was born. Ebizo didn't expand much on what happened directly after Kairai's birth, only stating that in the end her mother grew to hate her and called Kairai a little monster before leaving. After a later confrontation with her father Kairai learnt that her mother actually cared for her - he went so far to claim that the woman loved her - but eventually turned her back on her when Sasori left their small family to return to his life as a criminal. Because of this Kairai was left in the care of her great-grandmother and great-great-uncle, the two elders giving her her name and raising her on their own. Chiyo stayed in her life as a strong, motherly figure in an attempt to make amends for letting Sasori drift down the wrong path. Despite being extremely young at the time of her great-grandmother's death Kairai faintly remembers waiting for the woman to return home after she left with several Konohagakure nina to "fight some bad men who hurt the Kazekage". For the next few years following the woman's death the young toddler was distracted by her caretaker, Ebizo, and was assured that her great-grandmother was only away on a long mission and was coming home soon. At age eight, when she on her way home from the academy, the young puppeteer happened across the graveyard. Guess who's grave she saw? Betrayed by her only living relative that she had trusted Kairai stormed into the Elder's meeting room and demanded Ebizo tell her why he didn't inform her of her Chiyo-baa's death. The man gave her a cryptic response, so in a fit of rage she shifted her complaints to the other elders. Not feeling the need to explain themselves, all they shared was that she was a b*****d child and she should up and leave the village if she had a problem with them. She was only almost nine-years-old, and they told her in not so many worlds they wished her dead instead of having to deal with her. Being the child of a criminal, having the person who you loved most dying, and now knowing her village hating looking after her: the recipe for Kairai's messed up childhood was complete. If only that was the end of it. Despite them not knowing who exactly fathered her the villagers shunned her, every single person trying to push her out of the village just because they felt she was bad news. Determined to prove her worth to the village, thirteen years ago Kairai vowed to follow any order given to her. This oath ultimately resulted in her reputation as the ruthless "Bloody Sand Assassin" of Suna; a woman who followed orders so literally that even if it was children in her way they'd be cut down for "resisting" or "interfering" with the mission. Up until a few years ago, Kairai remained in the village only because she feels to owed it to the Kazekage. She cared about no one, feeling only a small thread of loyalty holding her to her place of birth. Almost exactly three years prior to today, she was forced to stop taking her frequent assassination missions and become the head of a squad. While her rebells against the idea at first were obvious the brats started to slowly grow on her. Shortly after meeting up with her team she also encountered her father, and after getting poisoned by him (along with her student Rui) she promised herself she'd pay him back in the future. After that mission three years ago she spent some time in Konoha, during those few weeks growing close to - and falling for, though she wouldn't admit so at the time - Kaeru. Her students eventually dragged her back home, and after a few weeks of doing nothing but train and miss the blond, Kaeru showed up out of the blue. Since then he's visited Suna frequently (as she can't bear to leave Sunagakure to visit Konoha that often, she feels the need to be at home to protect the place incase the Elites attack) and in a way she's started to date the blond 'pervert'. However, she has attempted to keep the information on their relationship on the down low. Not because she's ashamed, but because it's safer for the guy if certain persons in Sunagakure don't know that they're a couple . . . . much safer. ﹙¤﹚Love Senju Kaeru What was that!? Time to kick your A $ $!!! ﹙¤﹚Rank Jounin/Squad Leader ﹙¤﹚Chakra Element Wind ﹙¤﹚Skill As a puppeteer, Kairai has exceed even her own father's talent from the time when he was with the village. She has a knack for crafting elaborate mechanics inside her creations, as well as a talent for bring to life these wooden dolls. Literally. The need for chakra strings is in the past for her, due to the Live Performance Technique taught to her by Akayoru. Recently this has caused her fighting style has become a mix of fluid, dance-like taijutsu along with weak yet precise wind ninjutsu. It may not sound like much on it's own, but throw in six puppets that can think and fight for themselves and she's got herself an army at her fingertips. Animation Art: Live Performance Technique: (See Akayoru's profile for more details) Basically, The Live Performance Technique is a powerful skill that transfers the Mental Energy of the user into an inanimate puppet. First one must focus their minds, letting go of almost everything and drawing out their own mental energy in order to transfer it. Transferring mental energy is a complex process, though the basics simply involve believing that part of yourself is being given to the object in question. This energy transfer allows the user to control the object without the need of chakra strings, moving them around with only their mind. In theory the number of puppets/objects that could be controlled this way are limitless, though the amount of strain one's mind can take must be factored in. Puppets exposed to this energy are given what seems to be actual life, emotions, and the ability to talk. Because of this they work in an entirely different way, capable of taking their master's chakra in order to preform ninjutsu. As a side note Mental Energy can offer a kind of protection to puppets, and if they are exposed to this type of energy for a prolonged period of time puppets might develop their own reserves of chakra. Teamwork Assassination Tactic: After using the Live Performance Technique in combination with Koi, Kairai can work in perfect harmony with her only female puppet to drive their opponent into a corner. How the two girls surround them depends on the situation, but after she and her puppet are in position Kairai jumps at the opponent first, drawing all attacks/attention to herself and risking harm in order for Koi to get close enough to "hug" the opponent. A hug from this light-weight puppet is near-lethal, seeing as the poisoned tips that line Koi's arms can bring about respiratory failure if enough of the toxin enters the human body. While this taijutsu combination can be used with any of her puppets, Kairai most often uses Koi as her other puppets are busy performing various other tasks. As of yet, none of those tasks include her puppets using ninjutsu thelsemlves, though she's slowly getting to that level. Wind Ninjutsu: Although not as skilled in ninjutsu as she is in puppetry, Kairai knows several basic Futon attacks. The most common of which is the Blade of Wind (Kaze no Yaiba), an A-Ranked technique that quite literally creates a sharp blade from the wind. This blade is said to be impossible to block, if only due to that fact that is is near impossible to see it coming. As well Kairai often uses the Blade of Wind: Hurricane, a Futon technique that by using several blades of wind to start spinning air creates a giant hurricane that draws in opponents (considering the opponents are not tied down to anything, that is) and violently slashes them with additional blades of wind that make up the hurricane itself. ﹙¤﹚Summoning No animal/beast summons, though Kairai does carry around several scrolls that allow her to summon her puppets instead of having to lug them with her everywhere she goes. ﹙¤﹚Weapon Koi One member of Kai's personal guard, the 'love' of the pair. She is outfitted with less weapons and tricks due to her size and small frame, though by no means does that make her to least deadly of the bunch. Lining her hands and arms are small, near-invisible needles laced with poison. One p***k won't kill you, but if you get enough in you it directly affects your respiratory system. A shot respiratory system equals no breathing, which generally doesn't mean anything good for the poisoned party. When brought to life Koi is flamboyant of friendly (acting more like Kairai's best friend or sister rather than a weapon) though she snaps easily if aggravated in the slightest. Despite her quirky personality, she works in perfect synchronization with her puppeteer. Kirai (Ki) The other member of Kairai's guard, his name (in contrast to Koi's) means 'hate'. He has a large, beastly build similar to that of her father's puppet Hiruko; his insides full of numerous weapons and tricks that have yet to be revealed. Going along with being the opposite of Koi, Ki is the more defensive of the two. Built-in chakra shields that extend from his forearms make him Kairai's bodyguard, often sticking close to the woman herself or those she is trying to protect during battle instead of attacking. When brought to life he rebells the most of Kairai's orders, often letting out of line of profound words to voice his objection when she tries to get him to protect others at the expense of her getting hurt. Go, Kyuu, Juu Members of the Ten Puppet Collection of Chikamatsu, these three are just a fraction of the ten powerful puppets that were brought back to the village after Chiyo's encounter with Sasori. Each have their own strengths and weakness, though without the remaining seven of the collection their weaknesses greatly out weight their strengths. Despite this fact these three are the only "White Puppets" that were in good enough condition that they could be saved, and because they were special to her great-grandmother Kairai has fixed them up and began to use them in dire situations. These three old guys dish out the most complaints when under the influence of the Live Performance Technique, sometimes just standing there and questioning her motives and actions instead of following through with Kairai's plans. The Walamander A puppet constructed and given to Kairai by her 'favorite student ever' - Rui - he remains the biggest mystery out of Kairai's collection of more powerful puppets. Given the name Uruhito (a combination of wolf and salamander), this beast has yet to be used in battle, thus leaving it's abilities and strength unknown to all except herself, the boy who made him for her, and her team who saw the puppet in action during a few training days. Unlike most of her other puppets, this one doesn't have a quirky and/or rebellious personality when "brought to life"; he follows commands perfect and often knows how to act before Kairai can tell him what to do. ﹙¤﹚Special power None really, though she has learnt how to make use of Mental Energy outside of the Live Performance Technique and is currently trying to incorporate it into her fighting style. It should be noted, also, that any puppeteer other than herself who attempts to command Uruhito is going to find themselves not just unable to do so, but they're also have the monster turn around and attack them for trying (this applies all the time, not just when the Walamander is brought to life). ﹙¤﹚Username Rai_Shadow |
