- ( I KEPT EVERYTHING INSIDE
and even though I tried, it all fell apart
WHAT IT MEANT TO ME WILL ■ EVENTUALLY
be a memory of a time when I tried so hard
↪ And got so far || But in the end || It doesn't even matter
Had it begun because of that incident? Dastan thought about it, his words lost in his thoughts as he looked at Tamina. What would make her say such things? Was it his mistake then for using it? To change back time to where she was once more alive? Was it his mistake then? Did Tamina think that? Was that what crept in her mind when she was alone? That this timeline was not meant to be? Yet it was, and somehow, she forced herself to believe that it was destiny? His brows furrowed at the thought, letting his eyes shift away from his wife to that of the seer sitting across from them. If that timeline had not been altered to never exist, then they would not be here, therefor, the witch would not know about them, about Tamina. Was this then the reasoning to why Tamina had said those words? Yet, for a strange reason, Dastan could only disagree. This could not have been the work of the dagger, it could have not been their consequence. It was far too easy. If the gods were going to punish them for using the dagger, causing the timeline to change, this would not be the punishment. Tamina would not be the one being punished, but he instead. He was after all, the one who had done the action.
Dastan believed she knew something of that consequence. The lion prince of Persia knew Leilah held more information than she was willing to tell them. It was for this reason, that he was still finding it hard to trust the woman, even if she had come to save his love's life. He took a deep breath, letting his eyes fall onto his brother's.
"Yes, but with no knowledge of how the man looks, we are vulnerable. He may have us on guard, but that does not mean he does not hold the element of surprise. That man still does, so as long as we do not know his face."
"Garsiv, what you speak of him being mortal is true, though if he is so, we can not simply kill him the way you are purposing. You may have your methods, of simply killing those who threaten you, but we go about our business differently. A man should not die if he is innocent. Honestly, a man should not die in the hands of another man."
Eshan looked to Garsiv as he knew the warrior prince's tactics. He knew of the brutal force the Persian's took on their enemy. Though this unknown man would be an enemy to the princes, he could not allow an innocent man's life to be taken. His eyes glance to Leilah whom he knew would have thought the same, as she would rather not have bloodshed on her hands. He took a deep breath as his eyes met hers, and she spoke, continuing his thought. "Eshan is right, the man is innocent as of now. He is enchanted by the witch. We cannot kill a man who is working against his will. He could be a brother, a father, and we have no right to take such a figure away from a family. We need to find a way to take the spell off him. I am sure from the man books that Tamina has, there must be something for us to use." Leilah glanced from Eshan to Garsiv, her eyes only lingering on Tamina when she mentioned her books. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment to ease the tension that was rising from all this talk. For once, she did almost agree with Dastan and Garsiv in just attacking and letting it all fall into place. But no, she was taught to never take a life unless it was necessary. How hard it was proving to be now.
It had not helped that she was still in some of the armor that she stole from the Persian' Guards, and the heat from the desert had gotten to her in their travels. Her eyes opened though as she heard Garsiv speak of the witch. Looking over at him casually, she raised a brow. "I have said it before, and I shall say it again. The witch is our threat, not yours. We will take care of her and her magic." Leilah would promise that she would. She had her own vendetta against the woman, and there was nothing that would stand in her way. If Dastan truly wish to know, all he had to remember was the cursed scar on her back. If he was as observant and keen to know about it all, he would figure it out on his own. The last thing she needed was him involved, bringing Tamina along and endangering her.
"Why do you not take our help, Leilah? We have said before she had become a threat to us as well, as she knows of the dagger."
"Many know of the dagger, yet I do not see you going about threatening to kill them all. I have personal reason to deal with her, and I will not allow anyone else to get in my way, Dastan."
"What involved you with the witches deals in the first place?"
"That is none of your concern."
"Oh but I think it is. As I have come to believe it involves Tamina and the dagger."
"Enough." Eshan pinched the bridge of his nose as he grew tired of their bickering - already. "The two of you are now family, connecting by marriage, I advise you act accordingly." Eshan let his hand fall to the table as he looked over at Dastan and then Leilah. Disapprove showed in his features, but was instantly gone as he looked to Garsiv, addressing his commentary of the witch. "I must agree with, Leilah, however. The witch should be of no concern for you. We shall take care of her and the magic she uses. That dagger is not the only thing she is after, but be assured, she will not get her hands on anything else either. We have personal matters with that witch, and we do not wish to involve anyone else in them. It is for your safety." His voice held an even tone as he looked to Tamina. "In order for things to work, at times we much change the past to have a better future." He gave a brief smile, looking over at Leilah who had become suddenly silent in the exchanging of words. His eyes finally turned to Adeef and Nazin, whom had quietly sat there during the whole time. He nodded to them, and instantly, they got up with their weaponry, or say, the ones they borrowed from the guards, and headed out of the room. They had already spoken to each other before their arrival, and Nazin and Adeef would be taking their first shift to keep an eye around the perimeters for the night.
