How normal can a day go? So normal that things started to get boring? The same old routine, the same people, even if they were all strangers? The same order at the local Starbucks, and the spicy tuna sandwich for lunch every Wednesday because of the sale they gave students. Normal, nothing out of the ordinary, not even the daily crime. The breaking into stores, robbers, and other crimes to make the front page of the local news paper. Things never seem to change out of that line. The only escape out of this world, this lack of entertaining world, was to dream one's way out, or in most cases, enter the world of the internet and their digital games - or so this was the way her brother did it. The man had a tendency to use her laptop, whenever it was unguarded, and she was away at class. She always wondered just why he did, as he had his own; actually had about three of his own. How? She wasn't even sure as she was positive that they couldn't really afford all the electronics he had gotten.
"Your so paranoid, you know that Kate?" A man's voice spoke with amusement as he looked at his friend, taking a sip of his double sugar, double espresso shot, macchiato latte. The young woman on the other hand, just looked at him if he was the insane one for not acting the way she was when her brother came to the topic of the subject. "You know him. Alex is always finding some way to get into trouble. I swear, all the geniuses these days are mad." Even though her words meant to be cryptic towards her brothers reputation, she couldn't help but let a small grin at the corner of her lips. The pair of them became quite in their sips of coffee as their conversation died out. It was noon, both of them on break from their classes, trying to find some relief from mid semester exams.
"At least the weather is getting nicer. No more storms." The man across from the table spoke once more, and all the woman could do was node with a force smile on her lips. The pages in her book fluttered a bit from the passing wind, causing her to close the cover of it after placing her mark. "Yeah, I guess. Only the more reason for hatting to have to study when it's so nice out." Every college student's weakness was the weather. Whether it be good or bad, it would affect their attitude dramatically for educational purposes. Taking the last sip of her coffee and having the bitter taste of the end burn the tip of her tongue, she packed her things together. "Look Josh, I know we're friends and all, but I think we should go easy on hanging out so much after what happened. She is my room mate after all. I'm the one living with her for the rest of the semester." Kate grabbed her purse resting on the edge of the seat next to her, and took up her things. "Sorry." It was heard in her voice and seen in her eyes that she truly did regret meeting with the guy. And without a good bye, as she was positive this was not the last time she would see the stubborn man, she departed to her class.
Estrella, better known as Kate, made it to her class on time, or so what she thought was on time as the professor had yet to speak any words. There were no assign seats, or any close friends to sit next to in her English class, so she took the seat closest to the door, second row behind another girl in a hoody, scrambling words into her phone to text someone. And after that, the class seemed to go by with a blur. Estrella had to remind herself to actually do the reading prior and the one for tonight. At least it wasn't a Thursday where she would be itching to go out with her friends instead of doing work.
She made her way towards the dormitories, hoping that her room mate wasn't there as usual after the big mishap. If she was, Estrella would head out after getting a few things and possibly go to the student center, or find her brother to make sure he was out of trouble. First thing was first though, to make sure he hadn't messed around with her laptop, installing things and playing video games. The last thing she wanted was a virus on her computer where all her papers were saved. Oh how she would be irritated with her brother if he did something as stupid as that. Digging in her pocket for her phone, it gave a few quick vibrates as a message popped up. Estrella read it quickly, coming to the conclusion she wasn't going to have much of a night anymore as she had to now work at the local book store near campus; and yes, they still had those.
The brunette made her way into her room, tossing the keys aside to her dresser table once she saw her room mate, also the resident advisor to her misfortune, was not in. Her eyes searched for her computer, and saw it resting on her desk, the hood of half way closed. She gave a bit of a annoyed sigh as she pushed it open, moving the mouse to clear away the screen saver. "He was playing with it, I'm going to kill him." There were a few things opened on her lap top, and Estrella decided to leave them so, only to prove to her brother that it was there. How he always seem to get into the room was beyond her. Estrella only came up to the conclusion that it was her room mate that let him in to spite her. Running her hands through her hair, she dropped her purse on her bed and moved over to close the curtains of the dorm room close. There was enough sunlight coming in for her to see as it was still afternoon. Pulling out a pair of sweat pants and a simple blue shirt, Estrella decided to get in a nap before work, changing and completely ignoring the computer screen and it's glitching.
