Returning from vacation has never been so horrible as it was for Erin that year. She went away to her cousin's place for a week under her parent's consent before classes opened that year. She never wouldve dreamed of witnessing the scene that unfolded before her eyes when she came home after that week away from home, she wouldnt even have imagined it in her wildest dreams.
Obviously eighteen-year-old Erin Lilith Montgomery, sole child of the Montgomerys, had no way of knowing this, not even a hint. Everything was normal the day she left for her cousins. All that she knew was that she begged her parents to let her fly away for a week during vacation. It wasnt like Erin to stay away from home for long, to say the truth, Erin is the kind of girl that would rather stay at home and read a good book in her room, or watch a movie. Why she wanted so bad to spend a week in her cousin, she couldnt even remember anymore, perhaps it was the stress of being a senior in the coming year in high school and she suddenly wanted a change of surroundings before submitting herself into the pressures of a graduating student. However, since the girl isnt used being away from home and her parents for long, she decided to come back home two days earlier than expected. And so when she woke up that Saturday, she told her maid to pack her things and took a ride back home before the sun was high up.
Besides that, there was a feeling that have been starting to continuously bother her ever since Thursday, a sense of dread she just couldnt ignore. Having no sibling and being too close with both parents, she's become highly aware of things when it comes to her parents. Erik Montgomery, her father was a stern yet loving man. He had been the youngest among his brothers, yet it was to him that the family business was given to at such a young age, perhaps the only person who could keep him from falling apart was Erin's mother, Kristin. The two had such unwavering love for another that it often impresses Erin even after all the years, they had always supported each other through everything, more so lately when her father seemed to be more stressed than usual. Their relationship had always inspired Erin, bias though she may be, she always believed her parents were the best couple out there.
Erin had lived a sheltered life most of her years, not that she complained. Even though her father was mostly in his study, Kristin was always there to keep her company, always telling Erin of her father, which was almost the same as spending time with him. Strict though her father was, a day never passed without him throwing a glance and a smile at her daughter's direction, and even though the years had begun to show on his face, he was still as handsome as Kristin was as beautiful. Erin was glad to be able to inherit features from both parents. Kristin had full lips and thick-lashed eyes, fair skinned with prominent cheekbones that had a natural flush in them, she also a slender body with faint curves that was just enough for Erin. However Kristin sported golden curls and sea-blue eyes-- Erin had neither. She took after her father's chocolate-brown hair and onyx eyes which beautifully contrasted with her the pale features she took from her mother. She was truly her parent's little jewel, as she was often called when she was still young.
Erin had been fidgeting in their car's backseat on her way home, often biting on her lower lip and clenching and unclenching her fists upon her lap. Something didnt feel right. The feeling of dread that tugged at her heartrings increased as she arrived home. The manor was unusually quiet-- but then again, it was a saturday and her mother always sent the rest of the servants on break during saturdays, with the exception of Erin's personal maid who was more of an older sister than a servant. She was just probably paranoid. The curtains were still drawn despite it being a bit past afternoon. Perhaps her father is in his study, and her mother could possibly be staying in their room, reading a book maybe. She shook her head and headed upstairs to her parent's room while she told her maid to return her clothes to her room. The second floor was too quiet for comfort. Passing the study on purpose, Erin went directly to her parent's room.
Just as she was about to knock on her parent's door, Eri halted. It wouldve seemd that her discomfort was suddenly magnified, so much that she began to feel dizzy, almost imagining a scent similar to blood, it made her feel sick, nauseous. Imagining things right? Still, Erin held her fist up and knocked twice on the door before wrapping her fingers around the knob. Her heart thumped against her chest, screaming, as if telling her of it's refusal of opening the door which symbolized Pandora's box at the moment. The need to open it and the fear of discovering what lay inside tore inside her so before her mind cried out for her completely to back away, so before she could pull away, she turned the doorknob and pushed it open
and what she saw inside pushed her over the cliff of sanity due to shock and her sight exploded in ugly red.
Her mother laid on their bed, the sheets soaked red of her blood and her father was face down on the floor, swimming in his own pool of blood.
And before her father's body stood a man whose back faced her.
Erin didnt notice that she was still holding the door open, nor did she hear the rattle of it that was the cause of her trembling. The only things that she was aware of were the atrocious scent of blood that attacked her the moment she opened the door and the sight her parents. Her mouth went dry as her knees threatened to give way under her. Eventually, she found her voice, though no words came to her, all she could do then was scream.

Erin's scream was cut off short all of a sudden as if she was choking on her own voice-- but it's more likely that she was choking on her own fear for her well being. Her chest tightened excruciatingly, small beads of cold sweat had begun to form on her forehead. Her obvious screaming had attracted her parents' murderer. She was almost sure that she would be next, it didnt make sense that she would be left alive now after witnessing her parents' murder. Once more, with wide terrified eyes that was on the brink of crying, she gave the entire room another glimpse-- but she didnt allow her gaze to settle on her parents' murderer for more than a few seconds. But even then, she saw things that wouldve drove her off the cliff of sanity if shock hadnt gotten hold of her first.
He didnt seem that much older than her, but then again she couldnt be too sure, and it didnt make sense that someone around her age would have the will to murder people, and for what reason? Though she could hardly see the male's facial features because of the dark shadows that enveloped him, one thing was clear to her eyes. His eyes glowed red, reminding her of her parents' blood that seemed to be everywhere she looked. He was her own personal devil in the hell that he made for her, and he was coming to get her. The thought of it caused a rise of overwhelming fear inside her, and then all moved too fast for her to see what was happening, though the sound of his footsteps made it clear that he was headed to her direction. Her knees finally gave way from beneath her, causing her to crumple in a heap on the floor, her senses simultaneously shut down then, and before she entirely connected against the marble floor, Erin had blacked out.

Bridget's POV (Erin's maid)

Bridget's POV (Erin's maid)
╚═════════════════════════╝
27-year-old Bridget, Erin's personal maid, was just folding and returning Erin's clothes in her closet when she heard that bloodcurdling scream that was undoubtledly from Erin. Dropping the shirt that was on her hands then, she pushed the door to Erin's room open forcefully and ran towards her mistress' voice. What she saw then was beyond words, but unlike Erin, Bridget only clamped both her hands on her mouth, muffling her cry to a whimper. She had to tear her eyes from the dead bodies of the Montgomery couple with agony so she could focus on Erin who laid on the floor. Silent tears were flowing down her cheeks as she shook the girl, hoping to every god in the heavens that her girl wasnt hurt. She couldnt hope for the couple though, for too much blood already confirmed their state. Half-felt relief came to her when she saw that Erin was still breathing, most likely, the girl just fainted. After ensuring Erin's safety, the maid ran downstairs and dialed the police for help, the hospital wouldnt be of much help at this time.
Not an hour later, the authorities had arrived to clean up the bodies, and since the Montgomery couple were quite known personalities in town, they had asked to keep the matter as private and the funeral as quick as possible-- Bridget had nothing against this, refusing to stare any longer at such dishonered bodies, however, she wasnt sure Erin felt the same, and her decision obviously weighed more than Bridget's. The master bedroom was kept locked from then on. The police had tried to ask Bridget questions about her masters' death, but since she and Erin had been gone on a week-long vacation, she had nothing to say, she only spoke that they would have to rely on Erin when she woke up.
Erin however didnt wake up that Bridget had decided to bring the girl to a hospital, leaving the manor to the main caretaker for she made sure she was always at Erin's side should she wake up. Her doctor had mentioned that the girl had a traumatic experience strong enough that it forced her body to shut down to avoid anymore scars on her mental and emotional aspects. However, it would depend solely on the patient whether she would survive or not, even though rare, there are cases where the patient had experienced such horrible things or depressing situations that sometimes, they just refuse to wake up and will themselves to die out of grief. Which is why Bridget took every time possible to coax the girl to open her eyes once more, she cared too much for the girl to have her die in her arms. She took the role of being Erin's older sister before, and now, probably a second mother even though she's obviously not old enough to have a child at Erin's age. She kept on and continued to talk of better times, mentioning everything that might trigger a reaction from the girl. The moment Erin's finger twitched four days after being taken in the hospital, Bridget had quickly called for the doctor, and even though she hasnt woken up yet, Bridget was extremely relieved to find out that Erin had been making progress.
It took the girl a six days before she finally opened her eyes, and only two days away from start of classes. It was probably due to lack of proper food, solely relying on IV fluids for supplements caused Erin to not look like her usual self when she regained her consciousness, though it was expected. Her cheeks looked hollow and her eyes were dull, she even looked thinner and much paler than usual. She barely spoke, only replying with a word or two when spoken to, and most of the time, she was seen staring blankly at a random spot in the room, jumping in surprise whenever someone regards to her out of the blue. Worried though Bridget was, she was still glad that Erin had returned. She insisted the girl to stay in the hospital but Erin refused.
"Ive been staying here long enough, there's no more reason to stay."
That was what the girl said, and even though she wanted to argue, Bridget agreed. It had been three days since the wake for Erin's parents have started. It wasnt Bridget's decision but Erin's relatives, specifically, Erik's older sister, Erin's aunt, Rebecca. Bridget only asked for them to wait at least until burying them-- to which they, thankfully, agreed. She knew she should be sad, but with Erin's awakening, she was all too glad and relieved to feel sorrowful.

╚═════════════════════════╝
End of POV
╚═════════════════════════╝
It was just past an hour when Erin had arrived home when she was bombarded by questions by her relatives who suddenly appeared at her doorstep, somehow finding out about her parents death. It would make sense for them to hear the news, but from who, she didnt know, she knew it wouldnt be from Bridget, so it was likely the police or their family's caretaker, but even then, she wasnt in close terms with her relatives from her father's side unlike the way she was with her mother's relatives. The police were the second group of people that questioned her, but the same as with her relatives, she wasnt able to give out any information. All she remembered was the dreadful feeling that drove her back home and seeing her parents' body. She left out the information about her parents' murderer, for even she couldnt remember much, what she did remember, she knew wouldnt help. All she knew was that it was a male with red eyes, but then again, perhaps his eyes were only reflecting her parents' blood. Such information werent reliable.
It was all thanks to Bridget that she was given breathing space. Too many questions that provoked her memories were beginning to make her feel sick, which is why she kept herself in her room when she arrived back home. Only stepping out once to attend her parents' wake where she couldnt even stay in for more than an hour. She was half thankful when her relatives decided that they be buried the day after, half regretful that she wasnt able to spend time with her parents before their death. She also felt sick with herself, why did she have to spend time with her cousins? If she didnt, perhaps the murder didnt happen, or even if it did, she might be dead as well and she wouldnt feel so awful. She couldnt even bring herself to attend her parents' burial, spending the entire day crying in her room with only Bridget as company since her relatives had left after the burial. The house became too quiet for comfort.
The day after her parents' burial was Erin's first day in school, returning as a senior. Just as she did back in the hospital, Bridget suggested she wait a bit more before interacting with other people, she knew that her parents' death weighed too much on her shoulders and that she'll benefit more from resting rather than tiring herself at school, however, Erin refused. She didnt speak of it, but she would give anything to spend less time at home, staying inside it would only cause her to wallow more in depression. She refused to pass or even glance at her parents' door, and staying home only made her want to look at it, even look inside it. She knew she wouldnt welcome such a sight, but she wanted something of her parents' memory to hold on to. However, she knew it wouldnt happen for Bridget kept the key to that room with her, hidden somewhere where she wouldnt tell even Erin. Going to school was her only hope for recovering. That much she knew, and believed.
Erin woke up too early for class the next day, she just couldnt sleep peacefully ever since getting out of the hospital, insomnia wouldve been much more preferred than her recurring nightmares of her parents' death and the red eyes of their murderer. Waking up early allowed her to spend enough time to shower, where she only spent most of her time letting warm water run down her body, hoping it would calm her in the at least. Quickly donning on her school uniform after and grabbing her bag, she quickly headed downstairs where Bridget waited.
"Im going."
"But-- the car's not even ready, youre not even supposed to leave yet. You'll be too many minutes early, you havent even eaten your breakfast yet."
"I'll just walk then. And it's okay Bridget, Im not feeling hungry, if I did, I'll just eat at the cafeteria."
"Erin-- Erin wait! Come back here!"
She didnt stop, instead she moved past Bridget quickly and out the door. She didnt mind walking, she didnt mind if she didnt eat, didnt mind that she was too early, didnt mind that her school was quite a distance from home, she just wanted out.
The walk from home to the academy took fifteen minutes according to Erin's watch, however, she didnt feel tired, the walk actually made her feel better, allowed her to breathe in fresh air without fear of smelling the scent of imaginary blood around her, the change of scene was welcome too, knowing that after everything, there are still some things that dont change. Though Erin had left her house early, her walk to school compensated for it. The room for class 3-A, Erin's class, were not empty when she arrived, with most of them already familiar to her, being her classmates in her previous year. They greeted her normally, obviously unaware of her parents' death, and as she sat down at her usual seat, the fourth seat beside the window, the first bell rang.

Erin watched the usual people pile in the room as soon as the bell rang, different conversations rising from every group that talked over their own vacation trips, some complained, others bragged, but they all attempted to catch up to one another about their own experiences. Usually, Erin would be a part of such discussions, she wouldve been the one who'd get work up and being excited over something that's already done with- but not this year. Instead of attempting to join any conversations, she merely sighed and looked outside the window beside her, watching streams of students pass the main gate. She attempted to study each who passed through, some of them ran, fearing that they may be late for their first day. Some walked confidently, probably the seniors, some timid and walked in groups- freshmen more like it. She was paying way too much attention in hopes of shutting down the animated discussions that went around her that she didnt notice when her friends approached her excitedly, their eyes shining, making it obvious that they believed theyve got good news for her. Nevertheless, Erin isnt one who pours cold water over her friends so with a small smile, she looked up to them. It was the only encouragement they needed to start talking.
"Rin-chan! We heard some students talking about it earlier, it seemed we're going to have a transfer student this year."
"Yeah, yeah. I heard he was just like you, a foreigner more like it."
"Bet he's hot."
"Oooh~ I wonder if.."
A transfer student huh..
She allowed her friends babble beside her about the new student, quickly forgetting about her as they gushed on the person. Honestly, isnt that a bit too soon? Who knows what he looks like, or what he's like even. Erin allowed herself to space out once more, pushing off the thought of the transfer student out of her mind. Eventually, her friends had stopped talking, as well as the rest of the class, and the next sound she heard was the hurried scraping of chairs against the floor. It was only then she lifted her gaze to the front of the classroom.
The class was unusually quiet when the teacher entered the room, but eventually, murmurs picked up once a boy walked into the room, coming after their teacher. Erin didnt really stare at him like the others did, but she did look, however, she didnt really see him since she was too preoccupied remembering the day she transferred into this school a year ago. It was embarrassing in a way, being a foreigner in the middle of a full japanese class, but then again, her classmates were friendly people. This new classmate of hers shouldnt have any problem. With a nostalgic smile, she focused on her teacher who apparently had trouble introducing the boy. The boy's reply however, surprised Erin slightly that her gaze flickered back at him. He doesnt seem very friendly, does he? Half-swedish and half-italian? Huh.. imagine that.
Quite intriguing.
Finding the scene all too familiar and normal, Erin lowered her gaze back on her table, an elbow propped up on her desk to support her head while her other hand twirled a pencil between her fingers. Her teacher droned on, mentioning something about dyed hair. A small giggle came from her then-- yes, she was told that too before, but then again, brown shouldnt have been too unusual. The teacher mentioned something else, contact lenses. Hm? That's new. Erin looked up again to look at her new classmate, though this time, her view changed drastically. That was when she saw him.
It just so happened that the sunlight shone on him at that one second she glanced at him, causing his eyes to glint bright red, allowing her to focus on that one feature of his despite how far he stood from her. Seeing that, it was as if she was frozen on spot, her pencil clattered noisily on the floor, but she didnt notice that. Her heart raced against her chest, as if wanting her to run away, as far as she could from him. Her head throbbed as well, it was giving her a headache. But for all these, she couldnt figure out why. Why was she so scared? Her memory of that night came back to her. She had been trying to so hard to forget, but it was like pushing it into a trunk that was already full, that forcing it inside didnt allow the trunk to close anymore, and once freed, that memory slammed back against with staggering force, as if in revenge for her trying to hide it. Yes, she remembered now, those eyes were the same eyes that she thought she saw on her parents' murderer face. But it was all just a coincidence right? He looked about the same age as her, surely he cant be a murderer. So he might not seem so friendly-- but.. it just seemed impossible. Can fate really be so cruel?
However, she realized then that he was staring back at her, the smile he had on earlier was gone, and she could swear he looked as uncomfortable as she was. What did this mean exactly? It couldnt have been him-- no. Not when she thought school would be her one sole refuge away from that nightmarish night. What was fate thinking, forcing two individuals with an issue that cannot be contained in a room as small as a classroom? No, it couldnt be. Just a coincidence. And as if in an attempt to force herself to believe so, she forced herself to give him a small smile.
What am I doing..?
Despite her forced smile, Erin stiffened when he passed by her and sat at the empty chair behind her, the fifth chair that was beside the window as well. What was the meaning of this? The entire time during that class, Erin wasnt able to relax, not with her parents' likely murderer sitting behind her. She wasnt able to listen to the lesson, she wasnt even sure if there was. She kept on fidgeting, crossing and uncrossing her legs every after few minutes, every so often she ran her fingers through her hair, clenched them tightly on her lap, tapped on her desk with her pencil. Obvious discomfort radiated from her, she could only pray that none of them had noticed. She was too paranoid. If he was indeed her parents' killer, why was he here then? Was he following her or something? Maybe he did plan to kill her, was that it? He came to finish the job by seeking her out? If thats the case, she should be safe as long as she stay somewhere public. Home became more unwelcome now, he knew where she lived, he would follow her there wouldnt he? Why? Why?!
As soon as the bell rang, Erin stood up as quickly as she could, grabbing her bag that hung beside her desk. There was no need to fix her things, for she hadnt even taken them out during the entire time she sat in that class. She felt the need to run away, to escape. Why is it that everytime she ran, chaos seemed to follow her? However, fate had decided that she wouldnt be able to escape this time. Before she was even free from her desk, she felt a fierce tug on her arm. She gasped, toppling over her chair and dropping her bag as she tried to grab unto her chair for support, however the hold on her was too strong. Looking up, her heart seemed to stop for a moment. It was him. It was him! His actions and the way he glared at her confirmed it all without the need to utter a word. If he was simply a stranger, he wouldnt have acted this way, but he did, he was her parents' killer, and his eyes glinted the way as she remembered it.
"What--"
He didnt make any indications whether he heard her or not. The next thing that Erin knew was she was being dragged out of her classroom by him-- Lyr, was it? She cried out to him as she stumbled after him, her eyes tearing up. People stared at them both, clearing up the corridors to give them way. Why didnt they intervene? Didnt they see that she wanted saving? Did it look like they were in the middle of some petty lovers' quarrel? Where was he taking her? He couldnt possibly intend to kill her here. She cried out to him, half in protest, half in fear, but as usual, she wasnt heard. The sound of a door sliding open forcefully made her look up, only to be shoved inside. She gasped, hitting the nearest desk to her as he pushed her. Her back hurt-- but that was the least of her worries. He had brought her into an empty classroom, and with him blocking the only way out-- except the windows, but that didnt seem as much of a good idea seeing as they were in the third floor of the school-- meant that he had no plans of letting her escape. She had believed that he would kill her then, which caused her surprise when he spoke. She didnt know why it still shocked her when she had already confirmed it herself. But his words made it worse, he was threatening her to silence.
"No."
He killed her parents.
"Stop it."
Blood, there was so much blood.
"Stop!"
She had to stay silent else she would die.
"I dont want this!"
Completely ignoring the fact that she was in the presence of her parents' murderer, she dropped down on her knees on the floor, her palms pressed against her face as she wept as memory after memory returned to her, continuously playing the scenes she so wanted to forget with his threats playing at the background. It was shameful for him to see her like so, but with too much sorrow and fear that filled her entire person, Erin could barely help herself. And so she stayed there in that empty room even after he left.
As soon as she recovered, Erin tore out from the room and proceeded to run back home, not caring that she left her things back in her classroom, if she would have it her way, she wouldnt have to return here anymore. Bridget was taken aback when the front door of the manor burst open, revealing a swollen, red-eyes Erin. She didnt even give Bridget a glance as she headed directly to her room, locking herself in after. Bridget quickly went after her but was only met with a locked door, and there she stayed for a complete three days. She refused to go out of her room-- except during nights where she was sure she wouldnt run into Bridget, but she didnt even stay out long, she just took a bottle of water and that's that. She refused food, refused to open her door for anyone or anything else for that matter. More importantly, she refused to go to school. Everytime Bridget came to her door, pleading, her only words were "No!", "Go away", and "Im never going back to class!"
Indeed. She'll never go anywhere near him if she could help it.

It was her third day of isolation herself in her room and to say the least, even if she extremely felt weak now she didnt feel the need to how Bridget her face when she was in such a pitiful state, that much she knew. She spent her entire days in bed, knees folded against her chest, her arms wrapped around a stuffed bunny that had been a gift from her parents on her eighth birthday. She was hungry, now that she thought of it, she has never eaten anything proper since she was in the hospital. No wonder she felt weak, but then again, she's been so unstable lately that she wasnt sure if food would make her feel better, Bridget had always cooked delicious meals. Ah Bridget.. she's probably having a hard time without her adding to it, she's been selfish hasnt she? She'll just give in the next time she calls for her, maybe apologize even.
Needless to say, when she heard the usual turning of her knob, she dropped her toy rabbit on her bed and stood up, her face slightly brightened despite how pale she had turned for the past three days. Her nightdress had several wrinkles on them already, proof of how unsettled she was, she was even barefoot, but then again, that had always been due to her stubbornness. She was often told to keep her slippers on, but some days, the carpet just felt good under her feet. She headed to her door to unlock and open her door for Bridget.. but she stopped halfway, surprised, when it turned completely, causing her to step back when it opened. Bridget had always respected her privacy, Since when did she had a spare---
Lyr walked into her room as casually as he could, closing the door behind him before tossing her things on the ground with a quiet thud. She gasped, her eyes growing wide. She was hallucinating right? After all not eating for several days now-- and indeed, why would he care if people were worried about her, and cutie? Damn, her illusion of him was too far from the real thing, causing a light, weary chuckle to escape her lips, she must be so incredibly hungry now, depraved almost, that she would imagine him of all people. Surely if she kept her eyes closed, he would disappear, he had no business here, illusion or not.
"Im just imagining you, arent I? Youre not here, you cant be here.."
She spoke more to herself than him as she backed away until the back of her knees bumped against the edge of her bed. Erin dropped herself down on her bed and sat there motionlessly, keeping her eyes closed. But he continued to speak-- huh? Erin opened her eyes again and saw him in her room for the second time, and he proceeded to threaten her once more like he did three days ago-- though this time, he threatened her with Bridget, he wanted-- no, he demanded that she return to school. The fear that caused her heart to thump erratically was too real. Wide eyed, she stared at him.
"Youre really here arent you.."
Again, it was more of a statement than a question to be answered, besides, she didnt want it to be answered, she dreaded it. She just watched him in silence, too shocked to answer or say anything otherwise. Her personal demon made sure to pursue her, it didnt allow her to escape, and he now stood in her room, making sure that she'll go with his wishes. Its a sick world she's living in now.
She spaced out too much that she didnt see him come near. A gasp escaped her lips when she fell back against her bed, her wrists caught in his hold. He was close-- too close for comfort. She tugged weakly at her wrists, attempting to free herself from his hold. Her breathing picked up as she stared in complete fear into his eyes. She never saw his eyes up close, not his face even. Ah.. she saw what the rest of the girls saw in him. He did have an attractive face, though it weighed to nothing for her. All she felt when she saw him was inexplicable fear and discomfort. She shuddered as she stared into his eyes.
"Get.. get o--"
Her heart threatened to break out of her chest when it suddenly pumped too loudly, laboring, pumping hot blood to her face, causing a faint ringing to her ears. He didnt just kiss her, did he? He did. Her first kiss was taken by her parents' murderer! Her surroundings twirled as she realized this, and it gived her another one of her splitting headaches that had been occuring ever since waking up from the hospital. She wanted so badly to call out for Bridget, but she had nothing to say. She couldnt reveal to her who he was. She couldnt. As soon as her lips were free, she took in a sharp intake of breath, whimpering as her chest tightened. Tears threatened her eyes. What had she done to experience these things now?
She didnt move even after he moved off of her, instead she just stared at the ceiling, her eyes unfocused, even forgetting that he was there until he spoke. His words ignited a spark inside her. She wanted to argue, but she was too timid to do so, that and her wits just wouldnt approach her lately. Instead, she just pushed herself back up and stared at him with a blank face, though her eyes stared at him incredulously. So in exchange for her safety, she was going to be under this boy's power. Was it really worth it?
He stood there before her, leaning against her wall casually, as if nothing happened between them, as if there wasnt a big issue between them, as if he didnt kill her parents. He acted as if they were just having a normal conversation. She couldnt quite get it. She wasnt going to be killed? In fact, if he wanted to, he could kill her just as easily, after all it was only her and Bridget at home. Erin shook her head quickly, refusing to imagine him killing Bridget. He knew which strings to pull, by threatening her with Bridget, she was just as good as his. She couldnt let any harm befall Bridget, not when she was the only one she had now, the only one she cared about, her remaining family. She nodded wordlessly in response to his question. His petnames for her were beginning to irritate her, it was sarcastic at one point, second, it pushed the weight of his control over her. It was unnerving.
"You know, I had to beat up a guy because of you."
What..? What did he just say? She blinked and looked up at him, confused. Well, indeed he looked like one who would participate in fights often, and it was even the first day of school. But because of her? Why? Obviously it wasnt for defending her, last time she checked, he was the last person who she expected to defend her. If anything, if she needed protection, it would be against him. Did someone try to come to her rescue too late? After all, people did see him dragging her around. A guy? Fighting for her? Erin sat rigidly on the edge of her bed, her fists clenched on her lap as blood rushed back to her face. How embarrassing.
"Im s--"
Wait.. wait! What was she trying to say? Was she about to say sorry? Apologize? For what? Because he got in a fight because of her? That is a small thing, too insignificant, to what he did to her, if there was anyone who should be tossing around apologies, it wasnt her, it should be him. And why did she even accept him inside the house? Because Bridget couldnt have a hint about their strange relationship. At all costs, Bridget shouldnt. If not for her, Erin would have to accept things as they are for the only person that mattered to her now. She would just have to withstand him. Despite all this, and despite how it was entirely inappropriate for the situation, a small chuckle escaped her lips. Such twisted life had become for her. She stood up and walked over to where he dropped her things where she knelt to fix them, replacing them back in her bag. It was then she spoke, though not looking at him.
"You can see yourself to the door now."
She knew, and she knew he knew that she was cornered. She couldnt say no to him now. She would have to resume going to class, but her remaining pride, albeit little, kept her from directly answering him, to tell him straight that she had no choice but to agree with his demands. How truly wicked.

Erin's movements halted when she heard Lyr declare that he had no plans to leave just yet, causing her to groan inwardly. If she could, she wouldve just slumped forward weakly. It was the last thing she needed, to be in his company for longer than necessary. She stood then, bag in hand and turned to face him. For a moment, she was thrown off, since she had never stood in close proximity to him, she never really realized how tall he was compared to her, she probably just reached his shoulders, or his chin, and that did make him taller than most guys she knew. Well imagine that, he just had every advantage over her, didnt he? She didnt really wanna speak her complaints to him staying out loud, but the annoyed expression on her face was enough indication of her feelings on the matter. Did he care enough for it? Not likely, he seemed to be the kind of person who cared for nothing but him. Didnt they have a word for it? Now, what was it.. Narcissist. Yeah, he did seem like a narcissistic person. The worst person she ever had the chance to meet.
However, she couldnt say no either. He made it very clear that he was willing to do any means possible just to attain what he wants, and Erin was sure she didnt want the event earlier to happen again, much more something worse. She shuddered, and she knew it wasnt because of the cold. Erin turned around sharply, with a haughty air, as if telling him she no longer cared what he did, since no matter how hard she'd try, he'll most likely come out victorious. This doesnt exactly mean that she's submissive to him. Not one bit, it'll be the last thing that would ever happen, her to completely submit under her parents' murderer's every whim. By the gods, she had more pride than that.
She headed to her desk and placed her bag on it, stiffening a bit as his voice came her direction again, telling her to stay put in her room, threatening her the nth time that since he met her. Honestly, of all the things to get used to, she didnt want it to be his threats, much more, she didnt want to get used to him of all people. Still she didnt feel the need to reply to his words and merely shrugged. She didnt have a choice now, did she? Erin kept her back facing him, only moving otherwise when he heard the door close, signaling that she was alone once more in her room.
"Ugh! That annoying-- I hate him! He's so full of himself! He's so-- He even stole my first kiss!"
She seethed, gritting her teeth together as she stomped her feet almost childishly before she paced around her room, digging her soles into the carpet of her room. She honestly couldnt remember when was the last time that she felt that angry. She made her way to her closet and grabbed a robe to cover her current state of clothing, tying it loosely around her waist before heading her dresser where she sat down in front of her mirror, running her brush repeatedly through her tangled hair. It was annoying that she was making herself presentable for him, but she figured she wouldnt give him more reason to tease her with. Eventually however, she did calm down. Perhaps that small outburst of hers helped, but she was nowhere near comfortable. She could still feel her temper brewing just under her skin, waiting to be released for a second time. To keep her from bursting once more, she pulled her thoughts away from the person itself, now that she did so, didnt he say something like injuring a schoolmate that came to her defense. She cringed at the thought-- as was her first impression on Lyr, he can hold quite the rage. She actually felt sorry for the guy, too much that she felt guilty, how can she face that person and apologize when she couldnt even face him when she was the reason why he was injured so badly. That thought completely made her anger evaporate and turned into immense guilt. Erin slumped forward on her desk, lowering her brush on it.
"What am I going to do...? And more importantly.. What is he doing out there?!"
Erin forcefully shoved herself off the chair she sat on and resumed pacing impatiently in the room, probably making a path on her carpet. He couldnt have hurt Bridget now, could he? If he did, then there would be nothing to stop her from keeping her mouth shut. No, he definitely wont lay a finger on Bridget. Nevertheless, Erin still felt uncomfortable among other things. Annoyed, scared, weary, hungry. God knows how depraved of food she is now. She needed Lyr to leave so she can go and eat a proper meal. After everything, she deserves as much as a meal right?
It was then her door's handle turned again, somehow she doubted that it would be Bridget who will walk in and so she was no longer surprised that Lyr walked in-- but what did surprise her was what he held in his hands. A tray of food? Her cheeks brightened, she could hear her stomach react to the food that Lyr brought in her room. Erin blinked several times upon hearing Lyr speak, telling her to eat. Eat? She doubted it was Lyr who made it, maybe Bridget saw him, found out that she let him in her room-- wait. She let him in her room? That sounded wrong on several levels but no doubt that was what Bridget knew now. What would she think? Her mind worried about it, but her body demanded that she ignore such issues right now when food was brought before her. So back to that topic, she wouldnt mind eating, by all means, she wanted to eat, but the fact that Lyr brought it to her made her feel like a sacrifice that's being fattened up before getting killed. What's he planning? It would seem that her fate had discovered the thing called irony and is currently having fun making her it's guinea pig. Why must it that the thing she wanted most now was delivered to her by the person she hated most?
She looked from the tray of food to Lyr who seemed to have made himself comfortable in her room, on her bed. What the--? This guy really had no restraints does he? Acting like he owned the place-- really! Erin huffed and walked over to where he placed her food, sat down, her back facing him, and started eating. Well, it didnt matter that it was him who brought it, it was Bridget who cooked it for her. She'll fix any false notions Lyr mightve possibly told her. Maybe she could just say that he's someone she knew back before, a son of a fellow aristocrat who was friends with her own father-- ugh.. to use her father's memory in such a twisted way, but she needed to do it to preserve whatever she has left, surely they'll forgive her. Lyr after all, had enough arrogance of an aristocrat. and just happened to be her classmate this year.. and and.. what next? She frowned and sliced the beef too harshly than usual, making quite the noise when her knife met the plate. What next? She took the piece in her mouth and chewed, resuming her thinking. What could be the reason that she refused to go to class for three days? She couldnt think. Well, he did bring her things, thats enough reason for him to come here without arising any suspicion. If only she could figure out a reason for her isolation.
After finishing the main meal, she moved on to the sweets given to her, causing her to smile a bit. Bridget always knew she had a weakness for sweets, and since she doesnt really get cavities, she allowed Erin to indulge on her sweet tooth. Bridget then had always included a few sweets in her meals. She was just helping herself to her first candy when she heard Lyr speak again.
“And after you'll eat everything that's on this plate, you'll get changed. We're going out.”
Wait again.. what did he just say? Wait again.. what did he just say? Out? Going out? With him? He's gotta be kidding her. Erin looked at her plate in panic, she had finished the entire meal except the sweets she was given. And there's no way she'd not eat those candies. She was just feeling better when Lyr dropped a boulder on her. No way. He was indeed gonig to kill her-- though not in a physical way. He was going to kill her through humiliation. My good Lord. And for all the reason in the world, why did he stare at her like that? It pissed her off beyond belief. He had cornered her again and again, and still she couldnt bring herself to fight back against him. So instead of refusing and tiring herself, she stood up and took her sweets and pushed them in her robe's pocket, striding forward to him.
"Fine! Since it doesnt seem like you wouldnt have it any other way. But go out! Let me dress up in private at least-- dont tell me youre trying to keep me from running. Well to tell you, this is the second floor and the only way out of this room is that door. Go guard out there if you want!"
That was undoubtedly the longest speech she had offered to him ever since they met, but never in life could she remember her having an outburst like so, but then again, she never disliked a person as much as she did Lyr. Her chest was still heaving even after Lyr left, a result of her trying to catch her breath, realizing that she barely breathed when she slightly-screamed at him. But thinking about it now, he wouldnt hold it against her right? She was human, she was meant to have emotional outbursts every now and then, and he of all people should understand why she would feel that way. Why was she suddenly afraid?
With trembling hands, she undressed herself and grabbed the first black item of clothing that caught her eye in her closet. Just a simple black dress that stopped in front of her knees. She couldnt be bothered with her hair and instead, she just ran her fingers through it, letting it fall in natural waves. Still grumbling about her current situation, she pulled on black stockings, shoving her feet into her shoes. She stared at herself in the mirror, it was for her parent's sake that she wore black, even though the rest of the people in town didnt know of her parents' death. She frowned at her reflection, here she stood, an heiress and a daughter of an aristocrat, but with her current state, she's almost no more than a pet to a person who's most likely a commoner. She was never one who cared about status, but right now, it mattered greatly to her, for no one and nothing had ever scarred her pride like he did. Despite all this however, she still held her head high, her chin up, as she walked purposely out her door. He'll get his one day.
"Let's get this over with. God knows I cant stand being around you."
Erin's words surprised her as they fell from her mouth, her eyes slightly widened upon realizing it. Just where did this attitude of hers came from? This isnt her. The her right now.. it was nothing more but a familiar stranger. She had already lost her parents, is she in danger of losing herself as well? It's all his fault. Lyr's fault.

"Rude? My Lord, I am inclined to not accept your ideals on ethics or morals. Youre the least person I want to learn from."
Her voice was dripping in sarcasm as she played along with regarding him as her "Lord" as he called her his lady, much to her displeasure. Erin brushed her hair back over her shoulder, an action that indicated that she still thinks herself better than he is, that she isnt doing this because she had given up-- but hadnt she? She refused to think that way. After all, she had reasons for doing this. She was just about to walk past him when she stumbled, finding herself caught in his arm, though it would seem that he held her casually, she cant tug herself free from his hold. This jerk! The way he hold her too was-- to intimate for her, and obviously she loathed it. And her annoyance still rose as he continued to use words that was completely inappropriate for both of them. Kitten? Date? First, she wasnt his pet-- he didnt own her, and she hated petnames above all. Second, date? What has the world become? Since when do victims go out with her parents' killer? Never. Still, despite her inner protests, she had no choice but to drag along.
On their way out the main door, Erin happened to glance to her left and saw Bridget staring with clear disbelief in her eyes. Erin's heart plummeted down her stomach at the broken expression on her maid's face. She then realized how she mustve looked like to her, her eyes were begging, and her entire posture screamed discomfort, but she couldnt have Bridget gain any thoughts that would bring her closer to the truth. Swallowing, she willed herself to relax and leaned closer to Lyr, lowering her gaze as she kept close. Isnt he using her for his own benefit? So why cant she? If she acted that she wanted to be with Lyr in front of Bridget.. would that mean that Erin would have to eventually distance herself from Bridget? The idea made her eyes sting, but she kept herself from crying.
As soon as they were out of the house and Bridget's gaze, Erin stiffened again, increasing the tension in her body that was entirely refusal of his hold. However, she didnt expect another person to be waiting for them outside. This guy, if he was associated with Lyr, he would have to do something with the group Lyr is in right? For some reason, this guy looked scarier than Lyr and out of natural instinct, she backed away, and if only Lyr didnt keep her in place, she wouldve hid herself from that man's strange stare. She was still watching as Lyr's "friend" drove away on that motorbike that she gasped in surprise when she was practically shoved into the passenger's seat of the car that was brought for Lyr. She was about to snap at him when the next thing that was in her face was the car's door, silencing her words for him.
"I never seat in the front, you jerk!"
Pissed off, Erin glared at his form as he made his way to the driver's seat, scowling. As he got in beside her, she just huffed and turned her face away, just looking out the window with her arms crossed. She stayed silent the entire ride no matter how tempting it was to ask where he was headed, but somehow, she was also glad that he didnt speak, for a moment, it allowed her to have some faux-peace. Her eyes was directed to the scenery outside though she was anything but seeing what was out there. The static silence that hung above them lasted for a while longer until Erin noticed the car slowing down, blinking, she looked about and saw the hotel. She froze on her seat? Why here? She gritted her teeth, if he dared force her into-- huh? Her sharp gaze turned Lyr's way when he vacated the car, but she was surprised by his next words, that was until he called her kitten again.
"You dont need to worry about me getting out. I wouldnt dare go near or be seen in that place with you."
Erin haughtily turned the other way again, but as soon as his presence left, she sighed, running her fingers through her hair. What's happening here? Without him around, she's almost back to normal. It was as if his presence alone is able to trigger that other personality of hers she didnt know existed. The emotions she felt were strange and new, uncomfortable and unwelcome, she didnt feel the like of disliking a person with too much intensity. It didnt take too long until Erin felt herself bristle up again, and sure enough Lyr had appeared again. Imagine that, her body actually knows how to react even without her telling it to. She didnt move or talk, not giving any indication that she knew that he returned, in fact, she completely ignored him-- which went on until he arrived at his next destination.
This place, Erin looked around her and shuddered, why? What was this place? She was just about to ask Lyr but he was already gone before a word got out of her mouth. Why was she so.. unsettled? It looked quite normal for her until several thoughts linked together. Girls who wore less than decent clothes, males.. too many males that seemed too intimidating. With a whimper, Erin shrunk deeper into her seat, as if intending to hide from anyone who would glance the car's way. Was this car's windows tinted-- making it unable for people to see the people inside? Why cant she remember? She was in her enemy's lair, wasnt she? She felt so suffocated. For the first time, she wanted Lyr beside her, even if he wasnt the safest person around, he did in a way assure her safety, if she wanted protection from this people, it would be from Lyr even though she didnt want to admit it.
When Lyr did finally return, Erin was very much ready to jump and strangle him for bring her in such a place and returning to her side. She didnt want to feel grateful, and thankfully, ironic enough, him calling her kitten and suggesting stupid things made her forget that she was for a moment glad that he had returned. She was restless, unable to loosen up as long as they were in the vicinity of that place. So instead, she turned her attention on other things as he drove back into the main street. As soon as he broke into the main road, she started voicing out her complaints, she didnt care if she would annoy her because of it, but after being in that place-- she could care less now.
"What were you thinking bringing me and leaving me along in that place?! That is your group's place isnt it? Arent you smart enough to realize that Im your victim's daughter? And that bringing me to a place with a possibility of someone seeing and recognizing me-- you might as well kill me yourself!"
Even though she was still on her dialogue, she had the impulse to look back, suddenly paranoid that someone would be following them, she saw none, but what she saw was a pile of papers at the back seat. Raising a brow, she looked from the papers to Lyr, wondering with honest curiosity as to what was written on those sheets. Well, can anyone blame her? She is after all of the female gender, wasnt it natural for them to be curious. She just had to ask.
"Hey, what are those papers?"
Erin doubted he'd answer her, but having her curiosity ignored often causes her extreme annoyance, so instead of pushing it more, she just returned to sitting and facing back towards the window beside her. She crossed her arms and distracted herself from those papers behind her. Well, he can answer it or not, she doesnt care right? ...well damn, she doesnt care but she was much too curious now. Another one of her faults. She sighed and closed her eyes, as if it would keep her from seeing those papers, but seeing nothing made it worse for it was only those stupid papers she saw. Having no choice, she opened her eyes again and just steered her thoughts to answering his question, where to head to? He dragged her out of her home without a destination? What's playing in his mind? Well, might as well make it enjoyable for her, he can be annoyed for all she cared.
"Kinda smart isnt it, dragging me out without a destination in mind. Well then, head to the main library."

No one would dare to touch my things.
He said that didnt he? Erin had stayed quiet since she told him to head to the library and it was fortunate that he did too, thus letting her think back on things he told her earlier. He did say his things right? She had a nagging feeling that he was referring to her, what else could he be referring to? After all, werent they talking about the possibility of her being killed in their lair? Erin radiated disapproval from that statement of his that implied that he thought her as his property. Last time she checked, she didnt belong to anyone, most of all him, she isnt property, again, it was an issue of pride, but it was more than that, she was her own, right?
Erin just sighed and crossed her arms, leaning against the window as she watched the scenery pass by. He also answered her question about those papers, which surprised her. She never thought of him to be an open person-- well not exactly open, but willing to answer questions, especially when it was about his work. But then again, she was a special case, she knew he was some sort of hired killer, so there shouldnt be a need to hide anything from her in regards of that aspect-- Erin stopped her thoughts. Why was she thinking like that? Did she want to figure his job out? No she didnt, if it had anything to do with killing, she would rather move far away than dig into it, but now that he mentioned it, her mind processed the image of the papers in the backseat. What was in there? Did it have anything to do with her parents' murder? Can she ask him about it? She doubted he'd tell her but still, someone had to tell him to murder her parents' right? She had cringed guiltily at what he said afterwards about using her parents's money. But its not like she can do anything right? She's not working, and she had no need to, she wouldve said that she's using money from her own card, her allowance, but that money still came from her parents so that argument will still lead to her loss. She frowned, hey, at least she isnt killing people for money, sure it seemed to result in big amounts of money-- just looking at Lyr confirmed it, he looked just as aristocratic as she did, he even had the attitude for it. She couldnt really say that money isnt important as well, that he couldve done just as well doing moral jobs, but what does she know? It's a bit a stretch for her to think of reasons that resulted him on landing the job, but it's the end result that matters right? No matter his reason is, it shouldnt justify the fact that he's killing people-- besides, he didnt even seem to feel remorse for the deaths he caused, isnt the way he's treating her self-explanatory for it?
Erin's gaze flickered from the window and back to Lyr when he had asked about a girl named Kasumi, Takahawa Kasumi specifically. She knew her alright, after all, hasnt she been classmates with that girl ever since she transferred in town? While they werent exactly close, they were friends, and at the moment, that girl even sat beside her in class-- her standing in society is almost the same as Erin's, though a bit lower than hers, but still, her family stood in the same social circle the Montgomerys stood. Erin however, didnt offer any information about the girl and just shrugged, keeping her lips pressed together while she returned her gaze back out the window, they should be nearing the library now. There was a faint nagging feeling at the back of her head however as she tried to discard that question of his. Why did he ask?
The last thing that he said before they had that silent moment was the weirdest yet, he said, no-- more like admitted, that he didnt know anything about taking someone out. Really? This gave Erin another thought to ponder over. He seemed every bit the player, even she fell victim to it, hasnt she? But how come he said he had no idea about such things? For once, her thoughts came to a complete dead end. What, was he the kind of person who's fond of those one-night stands and disappearing after? That last thought of hers caused Erin to drop the topic altogether for the idea of him having one-night stands caused her cheeks to flame up-- did she want to enter that topic? No she didnt, for this one, she didnt feel curious enough to risk her being corrupted by immoral thoughts, which is why Erin was all too eager to leave the car when Lyr all but shoved her outside the car and into the library when they arrived.
Upon entering the building however, she found herself waiting for him. For him? What for? It shouldve alarmed her but she was too clueless to realize that she was actually waiting for permission, not because she was subconsciously submitting to him, but it was more of a habit, usually she was brought here by Kristin when she was still alive, and Erin had always stayed at the entrance until Kristin left. She was shaken out of her reverie when Lyr said that she's free do what she wanted-- excluding escaping obviously which is probably what he meant by stupid. She just ignored it, she needed him to bring her back home, why would she escape? Turning on her heel, she ran inside, her face actually brightening up since she returned from her vacation two weeks ago.
"Erin-chan! We havent seen you around for a while."
"I know, Ishizu-san. Any new books around the fantasy-literature section?"
"Sure there is, Im sure you'll be spending your time there today-- ah, is that your boyfriend? I saw you two come in at the same moment."
Erin stiffened and forced herself to turn around to see who the assistant-librarian was referring to, hoping to every existing god that she wasnt referring to him who she believed she was. But luck wasnt by her side, Ishizu was indeed staring at Lyr, a small blush appearing on the twenty-year-old girl. Well, she understood that Lyr is attractive but really, how ironic would it be to mistake that there's something intimate between them? Maybe Ishizu is just that clueless for Erin believed that the tension between her and Lyr were too obvious. The girl looked back at Erin expectantly who laughed awkwardly.
"No, just someone Im acquainted to."
"Ah~ Im not sure if I'd be glad or not."
Not wanting to be subject to Ishizu's sure-to-follow swooning, Erin bowed and excused herself, heading forward to a section in the library where she often stayed when she visited the library. Pushing Ishizu's awkward assumption, she focused her attention on the shelves before her, picking up a random letter to start browsing on. It didnt really take her long to decide on something, this time, she pulled out a book on Irish Cultural Beliefs and Fae Mythology. Smiling despite herself, Erin took both books to the nearest table and settled, starting on the book she picked latter.
Erin was just halfway into reading about stories about Will o' the Wisps and the Bean Shith when her concentration was broken due to a loud exclamation from inside the library that she later realized was Lyr. She stood up and peeked from behind the shelf behind her, locating Lyr who was currently being told off by the head librarian, she had also spotted Ishizu nearby, eyes moving back and forth from the librarian and Lyr, her expression changing from fear for Lyr-- she guessed, to a dreamy look. She had all but expected him to argue back or walk out, but seeing him look about almost guiltily caused a giggle to bubble up her throat. This was the guy who acted around her as if he was god's gift to woman, and seeing him look lost was a precious image despite how much she disliked him. She wondered briefly about the reason he made such a commotion when he started to move about, not really wanting to have him catch her spying, she retreated back to her table and resumed reading.
She felt a bit lighter then, he was indeed human after all.
Erin took a few more minutes to read the next chapter on the book she was reading. She was quite amused on reading that even for a few moments, she had forgotten that she had come with Lyr in the library. Now that she thought about it, how long has she been reading? Fifteen minutes? Thirty? It was useless to check her wristwatch as well for she didnt check the time when she first started reading and Lyr didnt strike her as a patient person-- or a bookish one at that. After all, wasnt her initial purpose for coming to the library was to annoy him? Okay, maybe second-- but still. He couldnt have gone too impatient to leave her alone without notice right? She wouldnt have a ride home if that ever happened.
Pushing back the chair she was sitting on, she closed the book she had been reading and gathered it in her arms, as well as the second book that she took from the shelf. Well, it wouldnt hurt to take out two books, after all she was a regular visitor of the library, and she knew quite well she could do with a bit of distraction. Along her way to the main receiving area to log the books out, she checked out several shelves along her way, actually looking for Lyr, and she suddenly came to a stop. There he was, a book in his hands, looking quite interested, if not absorbed in reading. Huh, imagine that. Seeing him like that once more reminded her of the scene she witnessed earlier, how he looked like when he was told off and a muffled chuckle sounded from her pressed lips. It was then that he approached her, trying to have a glance at the book he was reading, greeting him with an almost teasing note in her voice.
"Never imagined you reading a book quite focused, guess you learn something new everyday huh?"

Erin's comment seemed to have been thrown back at her face with his comeback, causing her cheeks to flush in embarrassment, sometimes she wondered if he had even the smallest amount of shame in his body, but as it is, it would seemed that there was none, or if there was, he simply didnt care enough to be shameful in her presence. She was just about to comment back when she found herself being pushed-- more like dragged- into the librarian's table. The head librarian seemed annoyed by the rough behavior to which Erin just smiled apologetically as she handed over the two books she wanted to check out.
"Um.. I dont have my card with me right now, can you just take my surname? It's Montgomery."
The librarian just nodded after a few seconds of keyboard tapping, the books were returned to her with a piece of paper saying that she had a week before returning the books again. She wasnt even able to give thanks when she found herself being dragged out again. Frowning, she tried tugging her arm free though in vain and just stumbled after him, almost willingly stepping inside the car before he can shove her inside again, she was something short from fuming. As she had several times that day already, she followed him with a glare as he settled in the driver's seat before letting out what was in her chest.
"Youre-- so-- PUSHY!"
Erin huffed and turned around to toss her books on the back seat before slumping back against her seat, her arms crossed, her lower lip slightly protruding in an annoyed pout while her foot tapped impatiently on the carpeted floor of the car. Lyr continued to drive, but in a direction she didnt expect. Wasnt it time for him to bring her home already? She turned to him and was about to complain yet again but he had already spoken, and after hearing his words, she felt frozen, still facing his direction, her eyes slightly wide while her lips hung open in disbelief. She closed her mouth. She opened them again after, only to close them again. It took her a few more seconds to find her voice again.
"I dont go in places like that!"
It was after those words fell from her mouth did she realize something. Could it be possible that he was only doing so in revenge of what she did earlier? After all, didnt she decide on the library in hopes of putting him off? But apparently, she's going to lose their skirmish again. Huffing, she pressed herself back against her seat and face the other direction, fuming silently still. A night club for god's sake! If he wanted to go there, he couldve just dropped her home! But that would go against his reason for going to the club would it? Damn it all! She once swore that she will never be caught alive in such a place, she not only had her own reputation to take care of but her whole family's as well. And now, without her having as much of a choice, she would break that promise.
Erin refused to move when Lyr parked the car, somehow stupidly wishing that he'll forget that she was with him, but of course, he wouldnt pass the chance to embarrass her, he was that kind of person wasnt he? Refusing to be the one to loss even in unofficial challenges. As he opened her door, her left hand hooked under her seat, trying to keep herself there but Lyr's tugging was still too strong for her and so she found herself being shoved inside the too-crowded club. For a while, she was glad Lyr held her, but when his grip disappeared, she looked around in panic, and there he was seeming all too amused with himself.
Her eyes widened when Lyr told her that she was free to as she wished, but to be left alone in such a place was the last thing that she wanted. Yes, she had to admit being left alone in a club beats having to stay with Lyr. However, before she could reach out for him, she was already out of sight. A whimper sounded from her throat as she looked around for him helplessly, it didnt help that she lacked the height as well. She had to get away from the crowd, where can she go? There should be a counter around, if only she could-- Erin tried to weave her way through the crowd, feeling too suffocated already after a few minutes of staying inside. She kept her head bowed, excusing her way around, only to bump into a guy who scared her just because of his size. She was about to apologize when she realized that she was cornered by three men.
"Um-- Excuse me.. I--"
"Hm? What's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Heh, you dont look like the usual."
"No, I- Im with someone."
"Oh? Seems rude to leave you alone."
"No I let go of him accidentally so I--"
"Come with us then~ We wont leave you alone for sure."
Erin wanted to shrink back away from them as they laughed, but doing so would make her return to the crowd that she just pulled away from. Her lips were already shaking both in fear and the pressure to call out for Lyr. The three that blocked her way from moving away just kept their smiles, but Erin knew not to look at them, for surely it would make her tremble more. Why does these things keep on happening to her? Unable to keep herself from being quiet any longer, Lyr's name dropped from her lips as she called out to him helplessly, hoping to every god she knew that he'll respond to her. But instead of having Lyr respond, she heard a shot, which made her to automatically drop to her knees, her hands clamped at her ears as she curled up. Suddenly there was chaos, someone was shouting, people's feet drummed against the floor as they ran, and then there was a few more shots before it went quiet.
By then Erin already had tears running down her cheeks out of pure terror. Her heart throbbed painfully as her whole body trembled. She sat up then and quickly scanned the remaining crowd for Lyr. A phone rang and a voice that was suddenly all too familiar with her talked. Erin pushed herself up on her feet and headed toward the direction of his voice and thankfully, Lyr was tall enough to stand out from the crowd. Upon reaching him, she gripped his arm tightly, refusing to let go. When she looked down however, she almost fainted to see blood. So he was shot. She was on the verge of panicking. She forgot that he was the one who killed her parents, forgot that he threatened her all too many times, forgot that he was the one who brought her there. It just occured to her that someone she knew was hurt. Honestly, Erin was just too nice sometimes.
"I-- oh dear.. Im going to-- lets get you to the hospital."
She wanted to tug at him, drag him out, but she was too concerned of his wound. She couldnt possibly let him be when he's the only one who can bring her back home, she would have to care. She supported him on the way outside, refusing to listen even if he complained because she was supposed to be the one complaining, not him. Once outside, she halted. She couldnt drive, embarrassed, she had to hail a taxi and eased Lyr inside. If he complained about the car, he can just go back to it once he believes he's fine.
"St. John's Medical. Please, and fast."
Ironic then that she would have to bring her parents killer to the hospital ran by her family, well, if it made him feel awkward, it'll be his fault. Shouldnt he be grateful that she even made the effort to take care of him? Sure it was on a slightly selfish note but still, she could still risk leaving him alone and just head home-- wherever home may be. Honestly, she had no idea where she currently was in the city, or how far her home was. She sighed and wiped the almost dried tears on her face with her palm before turning to the male beside him, frowning.
"What the hell just happened?"

Erin walked straight through the emergency room and as soon as the staff on duty saw her, no question's asked, Lyr was taken from her and was taken to a stretcher and was brought probably to the operating room. Erin doubted Lyr would need a major operation for her to get worried about, after all it was just his foot/ankle that was shot. They'll just take the bullet out and.. and bandage him up. In a few days time, he'll be able to walk right. But despite that knowledge, she dropped down and sat on the nearest bed to her in the emergency room, trembling. Someone was shot near her and she knew him-- and she knew they wanted to kill him. She knew all that and she was scared to death.
"Miss Erin?"
The girl jumped in surprise and looked up. There was a nurse in front of her who looked at her in concern, she knew who she was, after all, this was the nurse who was always with her parents whenever they needed an assistant. Bridget was one thing, but Felicia is also someone who reminded her of her parents warmth, of her mother's love, and at the moment, she needed someone other than Bridget, she couldnt reveal anything to Bridget anymore, she had to distance herself from her maid even if it hurted her, for both their sakes, and because of that, she couldnt let Bridget know there's something wrong. Thinking back, it was Lyr's fault that she had to do that, it's also his fault that he got shot. So why did it bother her so much? It was too much violence for her to handle in such a short time. As her memories assaulted her again, tears came to her eyes. And she was glad she had an excuse to cry.
"Felicia!"
Erin threw herself at the nurse and wrapped her arms around the other tightly, her face pressed against the older one's shoulder as she cried. Felicia seemed too surprised that all she could do was stroke Erin's hair before urging her to head towards her parent's office. Erin nodded and allowed the nurse to lead her to her parent's main office. Several doctors and nurses who passed them glanced curiously as they greeted her. Most of them didnt know she arrived, much more why she was crying, but even still she didnt lift her head, she only did when she felt the familiarity of her parent's office in the hospital. It actually looked more like a study room than an office in the hospital. Erin quickly settled down on the couch near the door and curled up, pulling her feet up the couch and her knees against her chest where she rocked back and forth, and even though she stopped sobbing, tears still escaped her eyes. Only then did Felicia speak.
"What happened Miss? Who was he?"
Eyes lifted to meet Felicia's own, and Erin knew that Felicia was asking about Lyr. She mustve been in the emergency room when they entered. What could she say though? Can she say that there was an accident at the club they were in earlier? No she couldnt. She stopped rocking and relaxed a bit, though every now and then her body shook, as if she didnt look frail enough with the way she paled over the events that took place not hours ago.
"He-- he's a classmate. We just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and-- and.."
Erin felt Felicia shift beside her and gathered Erin in her arms. Perhaps it was because it was her job to make people feel good or calm, after all she was a nurse. Yet here Erin was, being taken care of by this nurse. Admittedly Erin might not be physically hurt but she knew that deep inside there was a wound that still needs healing and despite that, she refuses to fix it. If she lost that hurt, wouldnt that mean losing her parent's last memory, albeit unpleasant? Felicia's words broke through her thoughts.
"Dont worry miss, I heard that your friend's wound isnt that bad. A few days and he'll be as good as new. How about I check on him and call on you once he's able to accept visitors? Taking a bullet and fixing it up shouldnt take too long."
Erin could only nod as Felicia let her go after one more affectionate squeeze before leaving her in the room. Once alone, Erin decided that she had enough of crying, though at the moment all she could do was wipe her eyes dry. She knew that her eyes were swelling as well as red with the crying she had earlier. Was that really so long? The girl stood up and straightened her dress, it was probably obvious that she had been through much in such a short time with all the dirt and the wrinkles her dress now had. Well.. that cant be helped, it was after all, an "accident", noone would question her-- not when she is the daughter of the couple who owned the hospital.. not that they knew of their death already. Just how long can it be kept in the dark? The fact that her parents are dead.. Erin walked around the office and made her way to the bookshelf at the corner of the room and she sighed. She left the books she borrowed from the library in Lyr's car, lucky her. She reached for a random book to read, better than nothing, when she saw the title. Inspiration for when Life Turns for the Worst. How ironic for her to find such a book, but it was just like her mother to be reading such books from time to time. Well, she definitely needed some guidance.
Few pages past one, her head was already wandering back to the time when she was still in the taxi with Lyr. Was it just her or did somehow, even for the shortest time, he didnt seem so... well admittedly, he became less of a jerk. Perhaps it was his wound, but there was something that almost felt cordial. What was that? The way he revealed the truth of what happened back there, it was more of him opening up than answering her question. When he leaned his head on her shoulder, when he closed his eyes, for a moment he didnt seem like a killer then. Erin groaned and slammed the book close. All that thinking combined with the events that happened today was making her head hurt.
For the second time in that hospital, Erin jumped in surprise when someone knocked on the door the same time she slammed the book she was reading close. Shaking her head, she allowed entrance and Felicia walked in, announcing that she's free to visit Lyr's room. She had said room 69, third floor, figures. Taking the book with her, Erin left her parent's office.
She knew she couldve taken the elevator, but she wasnt entirely in a hurry to see Lyr, she needed some time, perhaps if she was lucky, the redness and the puffiness of her eyes wouldve gone when she sees him. Maybe if she made some smartass comment upon entering his room, maybe she wouldnt feel so uncomfortabe. And she wouldve probably done that if she wasnt so surprised of seeing Lyr as he was. She shouldve been glad to see him in his clothes still-- sure theyre a bit ripped but that's just his pants. No wonder he'll look much worse if the doctors tried to get him to wear hospital gowns-- not that theyre real gowns but, does it really make sense to make people who already feel awful to wear more awful pieces of clothing? Well, that isnt exactly the matter but-- seeing his bandaged leg/foot was still nerve racking. In that short time they spent together, he just struck her as someone who'll forever be arrogant and proud of his skills and refusing defeat.
"I guess youre human after all."
Huh, awesome opening. Erin shook her head and sat on the edge of his bed seeing as there was still no chair brought in the room. Sighing, she placed the book on his bedside table before crossing her arms and turning to look at him. Now that she isnt seeing his injured leg, he looked like himself again with that annoye look on his face. And he thought he should be the one annoyed here? Well, she might be wrong but he looked that way to her, obviously uncomfortable. There, feeling uncomfortable would fit him better. Erin sighed again and looked away again, taking care to not give him enough view on her eyes should they still show any hints of her crying earlier and continuing on talking in hopes to keep him from commenting on anything else. She didnt exactly feel like tolerating him any longer.
"We'll be staying here until you get better, and you better not complain since my returning back home depends on you no matter how I try to get around it. So that means no going back to school for me either tomorrow, lucky that it's friday tomorow. What Im saying is, whether we like it or not, we'll be stuck longer than needed. And you know youre the one to blame right? Ironic isnt it, that you'll be brought to the hospital owned by my parents."

Erin stayed quiet after delivering her small speech. It seemed to her that he's almost back to normal, after all, didnt he just give her another smart a** remark? He even had the strength to smile, whether it was genuine or sarcastic, she probably will never know. His making light of the situation, most particularly his room number convinced Erin that she no longer had to worry about him, hell, perhaps her tears earlier werent even needed. She was worried enough for the both of them. Was he really that used to the kind of life he's leading that he can so easily shrug off such incidents with nonchalance? It seemed kinda sad to her. Suddenly feeling too tired to argue or pull out a retort, she just sighed, groaning a bit.
"Just shut up wont you?"
There was nothing harsh at all with the way she said it. It was more of a weary resignation. She didnt want to argue under such circumstances. She was about to stand and leave the room and him altogether when the door opened, revealing a man who she didnt recognize, but apparently, Lyr did, causing her to stop in her movements and simply stay seated at the foot of Lyr's bed. She silently watched the newcomer approach Lyr, even meeting his eyes before he handed Lyr something that she didnt see quite clearly. A seemingly friendly conversation passed through them which surprised her, so Lyr did have a friendly side. Did she like this new revelation? Something inside her told her "no", but as expected, she was too tired to care of anything else. As far as she was concerned, too much stuff had happened in a single day and she felt emotionally drained-- as if the previous weeks hadnt. She needed a vacation-- from what? From life? From everything? Yeah, if only she could be so lucky.
Lyr brought back her attention by picking up the stupid excuse of conversation they had earlier-- if you can even call it that. Erin glanced at him with an expression that said "are you serious?" and just sighed again, shaking her head. He really did tire her out. Is there anything existing in this world that could faze him enough for-- say-- more than just a few hours? If she was to be asked, the only one exhibiting normal reactions to the situation is her. Lyr was just being his usual arrogant self.
"Get lost Lyr. Why dont you sleep for like-- oh I dont know, forever?"
Her words were heavy with exhaustion. Deciding not to tolerate him anymore, she stood from where she sat, grabbed the blanket covering him and pulled it up and over his face. She then grabbed the book which she took from her parents' office and left the room altogether. She was planning to return the book, she didnt really feel like reading anymore. If anything, she suddenly felt tired, even to read, and that's saying something since Erin was practically a book worm.
Erin at most offered weary smiles at those who greeted her on her way to her parents' office, where she lingered a bit. She returned the book to the shelf where she initially took it and walked around the spacious room, stopping eventually behind her father's table. A sad smile appeared on her lips as she saw two picture frames on his table. One had a picture of the three of them during one summer when she was a few years younger, probably fifteeen. It was a happy memory. The second frame contained her own picture, taken during her latest birthday celebration. It was heart warming to see such a thing on her father's work place. Erin dropped on her father's chair and leaned back against the black cushion, eyes shut close. No, she wouldnt cry. She cried too much already. It's time she moved on. Her parents would want that from her. She knew that much. But when it came to Lyr, she was at a loss. She still had no idea on what to do with him. Law states that she give him up to the authorities. But he wasnt simply one person. He was obviously backed up by more people than she could ever imagine. And what does she have against them? What can she and Bridget do? She imagined she wouldnt be able to feel safe under the security of the authorities.
She cant hand him over. Yet anyway. But she would have to eventually, if she wanted any justice served for her parents. It was just a matter of time. Did she want to though? She didnt know. Did she want to endanger Bridget's life along with her own? No, definitely not. Would she sacrifice herself for Bridget's sake? Yes, no questions asked.
She would have to tolerate Lyr a bit longer. He couldnt have worked on his own. Someone must have definitely asked him to do what he did. As to who, she had absolutely no idea. As far as she was concerned, her parents' were a friendly couple. She just couldnt imagine anyone who'd hate them so much as to go as far as having them killed. Ah, but she was so naive.
Erin opened her eyes and frowned. She didnt really want to think about this at the moment. Her thoughts returned to Lyr, unfortunately enough. He wouldnt be so stupid as to leave the hospital premises without her right? Okay, so maybe that didnt seem so stupid when Lyr is concerned, he probably wouldnt care about her. But would he be so stupid to leave even though he wasnt cured yet? He seemed like the stubborn person.
She stood from the chair and left the room to return to Lyr's room again.
On the way there, she passed by the customer's desk and asked for a spare blanket. She needed rest. She would be damned if she didnt spare a few minutes for herself. Thanking the nurse quietly, she returned to Lyr's room, purposely ignoring him as she moved to the small couch at the corner of the room and settled there, curling up with her back to him with the blanket she borrowed pulled up to her chin.
"I dont know about you but I want to sleep for a few hours, God knows how exhausted I am. How about you rest as well so we can leave this place as soon as possible? ..I just want to go home."
She actually initially believed that she wouldnt be able to drop her defenses and sleep peacefully with Lyr around. But as soon as she closed her eyes, she yawned and fell into a dreamless sleep.

Bridget's POV
╚═════════════════════════╝
One hour. Two. Three.. four, five. How many hours has it been?
Bridget have been pacing back and forth in the middle of the living room for a few hours after trying to wait for any sign of Erin. A call or anything. The sun had set, the sky already darkened, dinner was served and was now currently getting cold. The maid was getting weary and anxious by the moment. What had happened? Why didnt she stop Erin from going out with that man she didnt seem to recognize? Maybe because she was too preoccupied by the fact that the girl had finally stepped out of her room after locking herself in there for three days. Hours ticked by and Bridget slumped at the couch in the living room, glancing repeatedly at the clock. Why arent they home yet? She tried to rack her brain in an attempt to remember if the boy who apparently coaxed Erin out of her room was some old acquaintance of Erin's. Bridget usually has a good memory and the fact that the boy's face was so unfamiliar to her brought a sense of unease to her.
More hours passed.
By then Bridget had unknowingly passed out on the living room couch while trying to wait for Erin to return. However, it wouldnt be right to say that she didnt have enough resolve to stay awake and wait for her mistress, but she had been too exhausted just by overthinking things. Bridget was startled awake not by a knock on the door, but the shrill ringing of the phone. Quickly getting rid of the sleep that still lingered in her eyes, she hurriedly headed to the phone and picked up in hopes that it will be Erin.
"Montgomery residence, hello?"
It wasnt Erin. And as the voice behind the line continued to speak, Bridget felt dread creep under her skin.
"I understand. I'll be right there as soon as I can."
Bridget hung up as quickly as she had picked up the phone. She quickly headed to her room to grab a coat. Uncaring to change her uniform, she donned the coat and exited the mansion. She had more things to worry about than just her current appearance.

"Miss? Miss Erin..!"
Erin opened her eyes wearily and quickly squinted against the light of the room. Strange.. since when did she sleep with the lights on? And, good lord, her back hurt like hell. Her bed was never uncomfortable.. A shiver ran through her body and she automatically reached for the blanket that fell down to her waist. Wait-- her blanket was never this thin. Something was out of place here. She was out of place. Just where..? Huh? Felicia?
"Miss Erin, Im sorry to wake you up but, the person who was admitted here, the boy you were with, where is he?"
Boy? Admitted?
...Lyr!
Erin bolted up from her sleeping position and looked around with her newly awakened eyes. Now she remembered. She was sleeping on the couch in Lyr's room where he was admitted in their hospital. How could she forget what happened the previous night? The girl's eyes was quickly fixed on the empty bed. He's gone. She glanced at the window but the curtains were drawn, she had no idea what time it was. Worried, she turned to Felicia.
"Where is he?"
"That is what I would like to ask you miss, we've been looking, thinking he just went to the comfort room but he's nowhere to be found. Im afraid he's somehow escaped the premises."
"With an injured foot!?"
"Im afraid so miss, noone would be able to heal from such a wound in a few hours."
The nurse's face held a sympathetic smile, Erin knew she'd offer to look for Lyr but at the moment, she was too annoyed to care. So he'd shun her away after she worried over him? Well fine, its not like she needs him. In fact, she's much better off without him around, and if his wound gets infected, well, that's his problem. Sighing in annoyance, Erin pushed the blanket off her lap and stood up, straightening the few wrinkles on her dress.
"Well, let him be. If he wants to be stubborn. So be it. Um-- can I know what time is it?"
"Just a few minutes past six in the morning miss."
"What?! I must--"
"Actually, im off duty now, Ive heard that your parents are out of the country so maybe I could offer you a ride home? You can rest better at home."
Erin nodded, accepting the offer graciously and was just about to walk out of the room with Felicia when suddenly, her surroundings swirled and blurred. Strange.. was she dizzy? She tried to reach out for the nurse but her reach stopped a few inches away from Felicia's arm. She looked up at Felicia whose face was now distorted into extreme worry. Erin could see her mouth moving, she could hear the sound of her panicked voice, but she wasnt able to make out the words. In fact the image of the things surrounding her was getting more blurred at the second until they were nothing more than strange spots of color in her eyes. And it was only a few seconds after that she did the one thing she had only ever done once in her life. She fainted.
---------------------------------
Erin awoke with a pair of voices talking faintly, they were nowhere near her, that much she knew, but she could hear them nonetheless. She shifted on the bed she laid and sat up, and for the second time that day, she found herself confused on her current situation. She remembered waking in the hospital, finding Lyr gone, getting annoyed, and-- thats right, she was to head home with Felicia. She could hear Bridget's voice-- was she home? No. She looked down on her lap and recognized the wardrobe she wore. She wore a hospital gown and sure enough, the prints on the thin blanket that covered her told her that she was still at St. John's. Groggily, she looked about her despite already knowing what to see in a typical room in the hospital. What surprised her however was the IV drip beside her bed, and sure enough it was connected to the back of her hand. Erin shuddered at the thought of the IV piercing her skin, the idea itself made her weak. And it didnt help that she has two needles piercing her. One for the IV fluid and the other for blood. ...Hey, since when did she need blood transfusions? Nasty.
"..god I hate needles."
So she was admitted to the hospital for the second time in two weeks. What is the world coming to? She used to be healthy. Feeling too tired to keep sitting up, she laid back down and closed her eyes. She had been meaning to track back into her memories but in the end, she ended up listening to the voices outside her room, realizing that the pair that was talking was a doctor and Bridget. Ah Bridget...
Erin's free hand clenched her sheets guiltily. She mustve been worried sick. Listening in on the conversation, Erin found out that Felicia had told Bridget everything that has happened since she came in with Lyr. Damn it all to hell. It's all Lyr's fault. How is she going to explain to Bridget how he ended up being shot? There's no way around the fact that there's something dangerous about Lyr. Bridget would ask.. and ask.. how long can she keep on lying consistently? She's not even used to lying. The talk continued from Lyr to Erin and why she was admitted to the hospital. It seemed that she was sick.
"--there are too many symptoms to consider this a coincidence, perhaps it's just stress but its not going to harm anyone if we're careful. I suggest she stay here for the meantime."
The next sounds she heard where footsteps moving away from her room and the opening of the door. She felt too anxious to pretend to be asleep. She wanted to know. Bridget only showed one emotion upon seeing her- worry. And it was enough to make Erin feel incredibly guilty.
"Bridget-- Im sorry..."
"It's okay, but it would seem that we're gonna have more problems."
"So it would seem. Im sick?"
Erin smiled tiredly and motioned to the blood drip that was connected to her hand and Bridget nodded grimly. She then shared with Erin the talk that she shared with the doctor. Apparently, Erin had begun to show signs of being anemic. The fainting, dizziness, exhaustion, turning pale, and low blood pressure. The doctor had taken a blood sample from her and he said that she was indeed low in count of red blood cells. Bridget took Erin's free hand and squeezed it tenderly.
"Im worried Erin. Youve also lost weight these couple of weeks. Are you having any chest pains? Finding it hard to breathe?"
"Bridget-- Bridget, look. It's gotta be a mistake. Ive never had anything serious since I was a kid. Im probably just stressed, besides, we all know Im a bit deprived of food lately. So much has happened.. the doctors arent infallible."
"But--"
"Okay, I know youre worried. Fine, I'll stay here for a few days to prove them wrong. Would that assure you?"
"Yes, but one last thing-- who was that boy?"
"Someone I know from before. He's not important."
Bridget didnt seem convinced but nodded nonetheless. With that she excused herself to allow Erin to rest alone-- to which the girl agreed. She didnt really want to answer questions about Lyr more when she had no idea on how to answer them. Besdies, she didnt feel like she had time to worry about him. It would seem that she had something more serious to worry about. She didnt want to believe it, in fact she could pull up different reasons and excuses for her current condition- and anemia would have nothing to do with it. But it wasnt long after that thought that Erin doubled over and coughed violently into her palm, and what she saw in her palm caused her blood to run cold.
There was the slightest hint of blood on her palm. It looked too bright in contrast with her pale palm. In panic, she shrieked.
"BRIDGET!!"

x
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOut of this wood do not desire to go:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThou shalt remain here, whether thou wilt or no.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAnd IxxDOxxLOVExxTHEE: therefore, go with me!

It was the same thing every night for the entire week. The same dream, or you could say a nightmare. It always starts at the same place and setting at the last dream, always repeating, and repeating, and repeating..
- She stood behind a tree that stood beside a lake. Somehow, she knew she wasnt in Japan. She just knew, as if it was instinct, pure raw instinct. She looked somehow different.. a bit older.. a bit more beautiful, in fact, she didnt look anything like she does currently. But she knew it was her. There was no mistake. She wore a simple dress, a white one, unadorned, and her feet were bare against the ground, grass brushing against her ankle. She didnt feel dirty though.. she felt complete. It was as if she belonged here, in this forest, wherever "this" may be.
She knew what was going to happen next, she had been having the same dream for two years now. She both dreaded and looked forward to seeing the dream again, hoping for any changes, any answers. But most of time, she's left more confused than ever.
There he was. A man walked by and looked about, as if he was searching for something. Haruko tried to get closer, but her feet wouldnt move, she stayed rooted on the spot, just catching a glimpse of that man from behind the tree. Why was she hiding anyway? Her mind told her to.
Safer this way. Always safer this way. Stay hidden.
And so she did. She stared at him longingly despite being unable to see his face. She had no idea who he might be, but recognition swelled in her chest, causing her heart to beat faster as he walked closer and closer to tree she was hiding behind from. He was too close now, if she would only reach out, she'd probably touch him. The thought of it made her feel ecstatic. She wanted to touch him. She needed to. She shifted her weight on her other leg and accidentally stepped on a dry twig, causing it to crack under her foot, causing the noise echo loudly through the forest. The man turned sharply.
"Who's there?!"
She wanted to scream "Here! Me!" but the moment she tried to speak out, a ripping pain suddenly wrapped around her throat. In severe pain, she dropped on her knees and gasped. The man heard and turned to her direction and saw her. He was close enough for her to touch, she looked up, though she still couldnt see his face, she tried to reach out for him, to take hold of his ankle, to keep him there. But before her fingers even brushed against his ankle, he stepped back suddenly, as if repulsed by her and ran off after shouting at her.
"Stay away from me!"
Haruko gasped and sat up suddenly from bed, waking up abruptly from that dream she had been having for three nights in a row now. In fact, she had been starting to have that kind of dream ever since a year ago, and until now, she had no idea what it meant. Groaning, Haruko allowed herself to fall back on her bed and just stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before turning her gaze outside her window. The sky was just turning gray, it was probably only around five in the morning. She could do with another hour of sleep. Reaching over for her alarm on her bedside table, she turned her alarm on for 6.00AM.
Thirty minutes passed.. then an hour.
A slender arm shot out from under the comforter on the bed and slammed down on the ringing alarm clock to shut it up. Then silence.
Another thirty hours passed.. and another hour..
Haruko curled up suddenly when her comforter was suddenly pulled off her, exposing her to the faint light pouring in her room and the chilling morning air. She tried to reach for her blanket but was unable to touch it. Opening her eyes groggily, Haruko noticed a figure standing above her, her comforter in hand.
"Haruko, it's seven in the morning. Dont you have class in an hour and a half?"
She blinked once. Twice. For the second time that day, Haruko sat up abruptly from her bed, though this time, her hand shot directly at her alarm clock and looked at the watch. It was seven in the morning indeed. Didnt she set the alarm for six? In a sudden surge of panic, Haruko shot off the bed, barefoot, and ran for the door, almost tripping on her way to her bathroom.
"Im going to be late!!"
"Come to the kitchen once youre dont. Breakfast's ready."
Haruko didnt answer her aunt and just took a quick shower. She never really changed, she was never a morning person and it's unlikely she'll ever change any time soon, its not like she try however. It just doesnt really work. Twenty minutes passed until Haruko stepped out of the shower, shivering as if a bucket of ice-water was just poured on her. As quickly as she could, she pulled on her uniform-- a special uniform for SA students in Hanagetsu Academy, the high school she's currently attending for the second year-- then walked out of her room to head to the kitchen.
"Them toasts smell as delicious as ever, Saya-san!"
"Thank you dear, but I really wish you'd stop coming to the table with that towel on your head."
Haruko simply smiled and helped herself to two slices of toast, spread some strawberry jam on it, placed them on a plate and took the entire thing back to her room to get ready for class while eating. Saya, her aunt, rarely approves of this thing but when Haruko really believes that she's in a hurry, it's rarely that she ever listens, so Saya just lets her be. An hour and a few minutes left. She pulled the towel off her head and picked up her brush with one hand and a piece of toast with the other. Eating while brushing her hair? Its something she does on the regular. A few brush strokes and she placed the brush back on her vanity desk and simply ran her fingers back through her hair to keep the remaining strands out of her face. Next on the list was her stuff for school-- which isnt much really since it's just the start of classes, and being in the SA class, well lets just say she doesnt really have to bring several books and notes to school. Just a random book to read, a small notebook, a pen, and she's set.
The clock registered 8.05 after she's got her stuff fixed. She had less than an hour now. Well thats okay, she wont be late. In fact, the only reason she's hurrying was because she wanted to get back to the greenhouse after a few months of vacation. She was probably one of the few students who actually looked forward to going to class. Haruko reached over for her second toast after finishing the first one and looked for her own copy of the key to the greenhouse. All twelve students of the SA class has their own copy of the key, and if she remembered correctly, they'll be having three new students in the SA class of this year. How exciting! A small giggle escaped her lips as she pocketed her key, pinned her ID on, and grabbed her bag on the way out.
"Going now, Haru-chan?"
"Mhm!"
Haruko headed to the fridge and took a bottle of water and waved at Saya, walking out of the house after. She never really rides anything on the way to school. Always, she always takes the fifteen-minute road to Hanagetsu. It was good exercise, and often, during spring and summer, the Cherry drive was an incredible sight to behold, and often, the sight of it causes her to walk just a tad bit slower, which is why she always insists to leave the house at least twenty minutes before the first bell rings. Sure, being an SA student allows them to go to class in a later hour than the regular students are required to, but going to class on time along with the regular students gives Haruko a feeling of normalcy, and she liked it. Besides, she often meets someone she can talk to on the way there.
September first, year 2010, monday. Summer though it may still be, Fall was definitely on the way. The Cherry drive was in full bloom with its cherry trees that lined the way. Every so often when the wind blows, a few petals would fall on the pavement, small hints of pink scattered on the dull gray. The fair portion of clouds covered the sun, causing a cool weather which Haruko preferred. She never did like the sun being too bright, for some reason, it really hurts her eyes. It didnt take long for the road to be filled in by students who were in their own way to school, some of them were from Hanagetsu though not all. The road was famous and leads to several other schools in the area. A few walked in groups, giggling girls, joking boys. Some shared their experiences during the vacation, others bragged, others complained. There were a few excited exclamations among the small crowd of students, making Haruko smile a bit. It would seem that she isnt the only one who's excited for the start of classes. However, it's also inevitable that some grumbled about the vacation being short and whatnot. Though mainly, it was obvious that students were glad to see their old friends again, as well as interested in the thought that perhaps a new student will join their class. And Haruko Izanami shared the same feelings.
Students have indeed started to come to school along with her, some waved, some called out to her, some of them smiled shyly. Even probably freshmen recognized who she was, or what she was, her uniform, as mentioned earlier, was different than most, being a white version of the regular students' brown uniform. She stood out like a sore thumb among them. Nevertheless, she felt welcomed. The first bell ran just as went passed the gates of Hanagetsu Academy, and with a small wave, for the few students she took a short time of conversing with, she headed to the separate branch of the academy, where the SA class' greenhouse waited. Haruko dug her hand into her pocket and wrapped her fingers around her key which tingled against her palm. It was as if it was as eager as she to see her classmates again after a long vacation.

x
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOut of this wood do not desire to go:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThou shalt remain here, whether thou wilt or no.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAnd IxxDOxxLOVExxTHEE: therefore, go with me!

Haruko arrived at the greenhouse not long after she arrived at the school grounds, despite it being quite a walk away from the main crowd, being in the SA class for a year had made her totally familiar with the path towards the greenhouse that she could trace her way to the greenhouse with her eyes closed. Upon arriving near enough to their "classroom", Haruko noticed the door was already unlocked, meaning that someone else had already arrived before her. Well, that wasnt really strange, Haruko isnt really the earliest bird among them all. Releasing the key from her grasp in her pocket, she reached for the door knob and entered the greenhouse with a cheerful greeting to anyone who was already inside.
"Morning people!"
Closing the door behind her, Haruko made her way to the small crowd gathering by the lounge. Only after she dropped her bag on the nearest vacant couch to her did she scan the room. Two faces were new to her, which made her almost bounce literally to them to shake their hands. The male was nearer to her. Without much ado, she went over to him, and took both of his hands in hers and shook them cheerfully, not really noticing what his reaction was to her.
"Hello there! Youre new right? Im Haruko, nice meeting you! And hm~"
Haruko's amethyst eyes swept the crowd for the other face she thought she found unfamiliar and found her in the form of a quiet brunette. A girl! They have a new classmate and it's a girl! Oh joy! The girl's eye lit up and glee and almost half-ran to the brunette and threw her arms around her in a sudden hug. Sure it might be a bit awkward to the girl since after all, she was nothing more but a stranger to her, but Haruko shrugged it off since she figured she'll warm up to her eventually since after all, theyre going to spend the entire year together and the year after. Of course, eventually she had to pull away from the brunette and flashed her with a bright smile, introduced herself like she did with the other male before allowing herself to actually take in the rest of her environment.
First off, a figure sleeping on the couch farthest from the group, she could venture a guess on who that was until her eyes settled on another certain male among the few who occupied the lounge. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Haruko could feel her cheeks burn terribly and she knew by then that if she looked in the mirror, ugly splotches of red had appeared to stain her cheeks. Curse it, why does she have to blush every single frickin' time? It was as if she was turned into stone while still holding on to the brunette girl's arms. The object of this reaction?
A male member of the SA class, Ichiro Naesaki. Naoe. Haruko's well.. object of attraction. The ONLY object of her attraction actually.
Her heart pumped as if it wanted to break out of her chest, his effect on her was that intense. And she knew with the way her knees were shaking from underneath her, if she wasnt holding on to the poor girl in front of her, she probably wouldve slumped to the nearest couch to her. A vision suddenly crossed her mind, it was so quick that she almost didnt catch it. But if she wasnt mistaken, it was the dream she had the previous night. Why it suddenly flashed through her mind, she couldnt be bothered to think. Naoe quickly filled her mind. Her attraction to him obviously didnt die over the vacation, it didnt even fade a little. If anything, it steadily grew over time. Haruko would probably bothered if she had the time to think about it. But as usual, whenever Naoe comes to her line of sight, her way of thinking just crumbles down.
"Naoe-kun!"
Her supposed-to-be greeting was turned into a startled gasp as she realized that she had held her breath when she saw him. And this brought another wave of heated blush to rush into her cheeks. She quickly lowered her gaze until salvation came-- by the form of Katashi Takumi.
The older male's voice snapped Haruko back to reality when he greeted the group. In fact, she almost jumped on spot in surprise, as if electrocuted back to life. Her head swung to Takumi's direction and she allowed his presence drive calm back into her system, though a bit unsuccessful, at least it had taken her attention from Naoe.
"Takumi-kun! Good morning!"
Her voice was still out of the norm as it came out as a surprised squeak, as if she was a child who was caught stealing from a jar of cookies after dinner. And speaking of cookies. The perfect excuse came to her when she heard her stomach grumble quietly. Chuckling quietly she released the new girl-- finally and backed out of the scene slowly.
"Well um-- guys~ I need to excuse myself a bit, second breakfast you know?"
With that, Haruko turned on her heel and ran off towards the kitchen of the greenhouse. Seeing Naoe alone made her feel exhausted, and suddenly, the breakfast she had was insufficient for energy needed to last her till lunch. Its quite amazing actually, that Haruko could keep on eating without gaining an ounce. Perhaps she's just that energetic. She opened the door to the kitchen with a weary sigh.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid! What a way to start the day, the entire year even! Stupid!"
Walking to the fridge, she took a bottle of water and headed to the cupboard next, taking the jar of cookies that was always kept in the kitchen. There was a bowl of raw eggs in the corner of the table and even though a sunny-side up really sounded good then, Haruko didnt dare touch the stove in fear of starting a fire. Honestly speaking, even though she wouldnt dare tell it out loud, when it comes to cooking, Haruko has 0% knowledge on it. And so she had to settle with what was already fixed for them. With another sigh, she dragged a chair away from the table in the kitchen and dropped herself on it, and with a cookie in her mouth, she slumped forward on the table and groaned.
