An alarm clock went off at around 4:30 in the morning and Rose was almost immediately awake. She turned off the muggle device that her mother had got her a couple years back and quickly got out of bed. Today was the day that she was going back to Hogwarts for her Sixth year and Rose could practically feel the adrenaline pumping in her veins at the mere thought of it. She began to start her daily routine, starting with a quick walk around their neighborhood. The walk lasted for about an hour before she went back inside to get ready for school. After taking a quick shower, Rose dried her hair and put on that red shirt that aunt Ginny had gotten her last year for Christmas, that neither Uncle Harry, her mother or father approved of and then some jeans. She grabbed her bag, her uniform, her cat's cage and her wand before heading down stairs for breakfast.
Her mother instantly noticed the shirt and gave Rose her best motherly glare but didn't nag her since she figured that Rose wouldn't be in it all day anyway, besides it was too early for them to be bickering. Rose sat down at the table and began eating what her mother had laid on the table. There were some heavy footsteps on the stairs and soon her father came into sight, practically jumping onto the food. Rose rolled her eyes at her father's horrid table manners as he shoveled the breakfast into his mouth. Hermione and Rose looked at each other and shook their heads, equally displeased. After the whole family had their breakfast including her brother Hugo and Rose had managed to wrangle her cat, Bastet in her cage, they all left to go to platform 9 and 3/4. The drive was long and scary since her father was still not very good at driving. When they parked, Rose quickly got out of the car; relieved to not have to endure any more scares.
The platform, when they arrived, was full of excited students and parents saddened that their children would be gone for so long. Rose kissed her mother's cheek tenderly and then hugged her father tightly. "Now don't you get into any trouble this year!" Her mother warned and her father simply smiled. Rose pouted, "You know that Albus will get me involved in his schemes and that always leads to trouble." she sighed. Rose truly did love her cousin though, no matter how troublesome he was. He was one of her closest friends. Her parent's eyes shined with a reminder of their years at Hogwarts and how her uncle Harry and them were always getting into who knows what. "Well... just have a good year, hun." Her father replied with a grin. Rose nodded and smiled, waving goodbye to her parents before getting onto the train. As she passed through the compartments, she observed some of her peers that were already on the train. There were quite a few Slytherins, but Rose didn't really mind it.
Once she had found a nice, quiet, empty compartment, Rose slipped inside. Now would be the perfect time for her to reread her favorite book of the moment, Hogwarts: A History. Her mother had said it was her favorite when she was Rose’s age and Rose had taken quite a liking to it. There were so many facts to learn about Hogwarts that it seemed never ending. As Rose began reading the words on the page she had dog marked, her mind seemed to wander off. Her thought process was now focused on something completely different, well… someone actually. About a year ago, Rose had found herself forming a crush on Coreen Hipae. He was a year older than herself and also in Gryffindor. He also just so happened to be her cousin, Fred’s best friend. Rose pushed her book closer to her face, feeling her cheeks warm. God, she was acting like a Hufflepuff! Where had her Gryffindor courage gone?
Rose visuablly waved that thought away and went back to the words on the page. Though, there was a sliver of a part of her that hoped that maybe Coreen would sit in the same compartment as her. There was an annoyed growl from the corner of the compartment and Rose looked up from her book. Poor Bastet was pacing around in her cage, begging to be set free. Rose sighed, unable to resist her kitty. She unlatched the cage and Bastet came running out of it like it was on fire. The fluffy cat promptly placed it’s fat butt on Rose’s lap and purred it’s thankfulness into her thighs. Rose laughed and rolled her eyes at her overly dramatic cat. This thought made Rose pause. Oh Merlin, she was probably going to be some old maid of a cat lady when she grew up! How sad; she really needed to get out more. Every once and a while, when Gryffindor won a quidditch game or they won the house cup, Rose let herself go and would usually get drunk off her arse. She could be wild when she wanted to! She just normally stayed calm and collected, maybe this year she should break out of her unsocial shell more.
