Thinking back, Odette realized that her course of action was possibly not the best choice she could have chosen, but under the circumstances and personal choices this seemed like all she could do.
It seemed like the chase had been going on for hours, but really it less than even one. Ode wasn't looking for conflict nor information, or on any sort of mission for that matter. This was her own time, time that wasn't meant to be spent running from the fifth-ranking Opera member. All she was doing after all was just weaving through hundreds of pedestrians, on one of the more popular walkways, and having a nice walk to clear her mind. It was peaceful, tranquil, and even though the heat was intense due to all the body masses, Odette felt surprisingly chilled. It could have been from the possible winds that blew back her white bangs, but that's not what she was focusing on at all. In fact in one were to pry Ode's mind open they'd find it filled with nothing; nothing as in the serene silence that she had always yearned for. What was in her mind and what was going on around her though seemed to be two very different things. Beneath the surface of excitement and luxury around her, the sense of terror was arising in everyone's mind because of this so called terrorist group called "Adage". A rumor of course, but people would eat anything that the government and press put out. Placing her clever, but worn, hands in her pocket, Ode was enjoying the peaceful setting in her mind when her eyes stopped her dead in her tracks. Her feet stopped as well, and from this small transaction the busy people around seemed to clash into her, as if she was a mighty tree log that was clogging a flowing river. Odette would never consider herself this mighty and destructive power, but the severity of the issue before her was similar to that. Up the street it was unmistakable to her eyes that she had seen the fifth ranking team member of a team she once was a member of, Opera. If she had decided to keep walking then she could have possible thought of a better plan, but her own body denied her and caused a small, but still enough to cause attention, scene. It wasn't anything big, just a bunch of people yelling at her to move or get out of the way, and the likes. That's all it took though. Just a couple of loud gruff voices to catch his attention. He didn't seem to be doing anything, and neither she, but a confrontation was unavoidable. Their eyes met, and Odette sucked in some breath while pulling down her hat, muttering apologies, and crossed through the stream of people to the nearest alley way she could get to. It didn't take a genius to figure out that was following her as well.
Brisk paces, but do not run.
She told herself as she neared the path. Starting a scene would usually be advised if it were something where they needed chaos as a cover due to injuries, a plan gone wrong and a quick escape, and such, but with just her and him it wasn't necessary, and if anything would give the excuse for back up. That would be foolish. She could run all she liked once away from most of the people, but not a moment soon. Once she made it to the opening her eyes focused on her peripherals to see his scarlet hair coming closer like a red target dot approaching her heart. Odette slipped into the alleyway, went a few steps then jerked to the right, then left, taking the left fork in the path, and then she began to run. Her heart beating steadily as she tried to appear as though she was running from a hurry and not from a chase. Sunshine leaked through various parts of the city, Y'vaire, as Ode ran through them. After running for some time, Odette quickly ran into one of the buildings. It was quite beautiful, although empty and changed from time, inside, but right now she needed a place to hide. Even for that small moment to catch her breath, she could hear him coming now. Quickly, she began to run up the nearest stair case, spiraling up and up. She forced open a door, and as she did so she could hear him in the building. A window! Odette ran to it and pushed it open climbed out onto the poorly spaced ledge. Her shoes scuffed as she began to find another window open. It was slow work, but she made it fast as sweat came dripping out of her hat as she tried not to fall. In her mind she wondered if it was really this bad to avoid confrontation. Alas, as window was opened. She had just enough time to enter it, shut the windows and back into the shadow of the room. Scuffing outside alerted her that he was outside. Carefully, she backed away, her shoes practically gliding against the floor. He was passing by her window and she froze, not breathing at all, her foot hovering in an awkward position.
She stayed perfectly still, as his entire body was over the window. The tension in her foot was unforgivable, and the stiffness in her calf would be more than anyone else to bear, but she bit the bullet and took it. As his body scaled away from the window, Ode began to lower her foot down and let it gently fall against the floor.
Creeeeeeeeeeak
"s**t!" She hissed as she began to run. That creak was loud enough for someone like him to hear. She ran down the stairs, skipping the last few, and once at the bottom of the stairs, she could hear him coming back in. Out of the building she ran and ran not remembering where she was going. There was a small crack that she had noticed, and took to it, wedging her slim body inside of it, pulling her hat down, and holding her breath, counting the seconds until he would pass. The footsteps were coming, louder and louder. If he could hear her heart beating he'd find her. Closing her eyes, Odette was stern with herself and calmed her self. Almost as if it was nothing, he passed by the crack and kept running. Ode counted to three very slowly, and began to relax her muscles. Her body scooted out of the crack, and she squinted to see him far away now.
"Another time, another place, and another person," she muttered as began the long trek back, he mood completely spoiled, and feeling no sense of a victory at all.
notes you feel we need to know: Errr... well I hope that was well enough, and I hope I didn't make too many mistakes with the town and its architecture and such. I also hope I wasn't G-modding in there. >__> I really hope I didn't eff this up. Also I'm not perfect, I'm a poor college student who probably needs to get a full time job over the summer, so if there are just some days where I can't post, then Imma say so, 'cause if I try to force one out, it's gunna be poop. ._____.
