the story


An outbreak of some type of disease has been making it's way through the air. What kind? The scientists are jumping on that. Radiation? No. Swine flu? Are you kidding me? Cancer? When pigs fly. No, this disease is airborne. It courses through the air, once inhaled, you are infected. It has taken over our oxygen, leaving traces of this "disease". What are we to do about it? Sit back and watch everyone die? No. The scientist found this out too late, of course. But, the remaining scientist are racking their brains, experimenting on victims, checking the air to see what is really going on with it all. They think that possibly, just maybe, they could find a cure for this "disease". With supplies running low, it isn't as easy as you think.

This "disease" has transformed the human race. Into some type of "monster", no one has necessarily put a name onto it. This "disease" turns people into these... monsters. They aren't allowed in day light. They aren't allowed to see the sun. They normally camp out in caves or dark subway tunnels, anything to get away from the light. The only problem is, they all come out during the night. Anyone roaming the streets late at night is a victim of these things -- once you have been bitten, you turn into one of these things unless you are immune to their bite. It hurts pretty bad. If you aren't immune, such as dogs, you become one of these things if they decide to spare your life. If not, you become a midnight snack.

A large group of immunes have been fighting their way to survive. Occasionally hanging out outside during daylight hours, but they stay far away from subway tunnels and abandoned buildings. They are careful with the stores they enter, and they've been stocking up on sunlamps. They are fighting for the cure, fighting to survive. It's harder than they assumed. The only question that comes up often is whether or not there is other groups striving to survive. Some are immune to both -- the airborne and the physical disease. Others are just immune to the airborne disease. Some believe it's pointless trying to survive, they are just all going to die some way. Others believe that they are legends, that they are there to defend the human race as much as they possibly could.

The fourteen survivors live in a small, abandoned building. The maximum is two floors; the windows have steel shields, to hide from all monsters that attempt to get into the building. The steel hides everything from windows to the brick walls outside of the building. When push comes to shove, everyone camps out in the basement, were it is decorated in sunlamps. The basement is were the scientist and doctors do all of their work, it's a mess down there. Sometimes, hiding from the enemy isn't as easy as it may seem.

Just as the group turned to go to their rooms, Scarlett and Lexa ran into a group of two girls. One was sitting behind the one that was standing, the other one had a face on that looked like she was bored as crazy. Then, Scarlett introduced herself, and the female snapped back to reality. Melanie and Nat. Was Nat short for something like Natalie? Didn't these girls have goofy nicknames? Landon already refused to call Lexa "Lex" or Scarlett "Scar". He had a hard time calling them by their first names as it was, he would have to break his habit of "Roberts" and "Aston" for the time being. Then, once this mission was over, he would be able to call the two by their last names again. It was how he knew that two girls, hell that's was how he knew everyone.

Seeing the smile on Lexa's face made him chuckle slightly. She attempted to smile, but instead it just turned sour. Hearing Scarlett introduce them as their "managers", made him smile. She didn't say anything too out there, like brothers or boyfriends. He wouldn't mind either, he was here to do his job, not lallygag. Even though the girls were to-die-for, including Lexa in a pair of heels and a short dress. He tried to keep his eyes to himself, but it was hard when another model was stabbing their finger at you asking you who you are. There was a model on the floor, sitting down cross legged. Did models walk around with little groups? Like high school? Landon couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of grown-up women acting like they were in high-school again.

When Lexa emphasized every word, he had a hard time not laughing. It was funny how a tomboy could act this way; not only that, but he found it extremely cute. Just as the girls started to walk off, he watched the one sitting on the floor stand up. He had to look up at her, he didn't know models were that tall. Just then, Scarlett turned on her heel to go towards their bedroom, but instead she fell backwards. Before Lexa or Landon had time to react, Jonas caught her around the waist, followed by a comment. Landon rolled his eyes, then followed Lexa to the girl's bedroom. Landon followed Lexa to the elevator, leaving Scarlett and Jonas behind. Lexa attempted to make small talk, but instead the girls decided they would drone on and on about the same thing. It was more like a conversation.

The two left the elevator, Landon followed behind Lexa towards their bedroom. "What's your room number?" Landon asked, wondering what his room number was.

Something about this guy just creeped Landon out. He was someone to take into consideration. He snapped a few pictures of Lexa, she looked absolutely marvelous. The way she placed her hand on her hip. Those would be some pictures that would look nice, Landon could already tell. He smiled softly as he watched the creepy man take pictures of Lexa. Once he was finished, the man didn't even bother to say "thank you" or anything along the lines. That was a little weird.

"Learning how to cook?" Landon never really figured that Lexa was someone who liked to cook. "Do you like to cook?" Landon knew that she liked to work out, she was an all around tomboy in general. She probably had more muscles than he did. Paperwork was just apart of their job, they couldn't get out of it even if they wanted to get out of it. The paperwork was dreadfully annoying, this was the only way that they were really allowed to get out of the paperwork. He would have piles of paperwork when he got home. It seemed pretty cool that Lexa was going to try and cook.

Hearing the low rumble coming from Lexa's stomach, Landon couldn't help but chuckle. "You wanna go inside and order something to eat?" Landon whispered, looking away from Lexa and at the girls around the halls. "That is, if these girls eat." Raising an eyebrow, Landon thought about that. Did they eat? They looked like a bunch of twigs walking around this place. They probably snacked on rabbit food. They didn't look like the type of girls that ate midnight snacks smothered in chocolate. Let alone a piece of meet. Maybe they didn't eat three meals a day, or maybe they just didn't eat at all. Was it true that a lot of models were anorexic? He would believe it if someone told him that they were.

Landon slid the card key into the door, then pushed it open. He moved out of the way so Lexa could go in before he did. "After you," being a gentleman, he always abode by the "ladies first" rule. Once the two were in the suite, Landon flicked on the lights before tossing Lexa the phone to order room service. The room was large, huge. The girls were going to be staying in this room. Did two girls really need this much space? Landon tossed his bag of luggage onto the bed, then began unzipping it. He had all of the paperwork in there about the case, the small clues they had about the serial killer, all of the patterns and things that the group should look for. "Maybe we could go over the case some." Landon offered, turning around to see were Lexa was.

The report would be a complete fail if she continued to act like this. The reporter guy would probably assume that she was shy, when she wasn't shy. Scarlett was normally out there, greeting new people and playing bad cop. All she had to do was unbutton a few buttons and terrorize the suspect. But this was different. She wasn't suppose to be playing bad cop, she was suppose to make up some story from the top of her head. It was a bad thing that they didn't have some type of character to play, they were just thrown out there and told to be a model in a fashion show. The only problem was becoming a victim of the crimes.

Luckily, Jonas stopped the interview. He was really good at playing the manager. When he grabbed her hand, she didn't expect that. She blushed slightly, then glanced behind her shoulder to wave goodbye to the reporter. While she did so, she almost collapsed onto Jonas while she did so. These stupid heels made her completely clumsy. She caught herself before she fell. It wasn't necessary for him to hold her hand the whole trip towards the elevator, but she didn't mind his hand in hers. She actually liked it, but it wouldn't last for long. They didn't have to push past many other models, but multiple camera flashes were almost blinding.

"Thanks." Scarlett thanked Jonas before hearing his next question. Whoa. She had never thought of it that way. Did they hook up? Scarlett didn't notice Landon, really. She was too focused on Jonas to really see Landon. "Maybe they are. Wouldn't that be a story." Scar raised her eyebrows, thinking of her close friend and some man she didn't know very well hooking up. "I'm pretty sure Lexa would tell me... I hope." Thinking back on it, Scarlett didn't know if Lexa would really tell her.

Pushing that topic aside, Scarlett didn't know what her room number was. "What's your room number? I don't know were mine is. Maybe I can call Lexa," Scarlett said, while fiddling with her bag and watching Jonas.

He couldn't help but smile at the way she was worried if her pictures were going to be in a tabloid magazine. "That's the least of our problems," Landon said before pausing. "Besides, I'm pretty sure that magazine would make some big bucks." He didn't mean to come out, it just did. Immediately, he tried to change the topic, hoping that she didn't hear what he had just said. Even though it was true, it was one of those things you kept to yourself. Not one of those things that you just blurt out. This was way he was more of a listener, he's been known to say secrets out of nowhere.

Landon nodded at the cooking comment. He could relate to that. He wasn't the best cook in the world, he didn't parade in chili contest or anything that really involved a food contest. He was more into sports; more along the lines of swimming and running. Not anything too melodramatic. He'd prefer to take it easy without any competition, he wasn't really competitive. Most of the time, he just focused on the job. "I'm not the best cook in the world, either." Landon said with a grin before the two entered the bedroom.

Going over the papers, Landon waited for Lexa to order food. When she came back, the papers were already spread all over the bed. "Some more papers on the victims, along with repeated patterns and some of the common wounds. I think this guy is a smooth talker," pausing, he only figured it was a guy. "The girls were drugged first, so they didn't fight back." This dude was some sick guy. Landon shook his head, before looking up at Lexa. She was lying on the bed, kicking off her heels. She looked like she was trying to get comfortable, but was uncertain about it.

"What did you get?" Landon asked, changing his direction of thought. He was personally hungry himself, he refused to eat airplane food. Before he got on the plane, he had had a granola bar, but other than that, he didn't have anything else to eat. "I'm personally hungry myself." As he said that, he sat down on the other side that Lexa was on, next to the papers that he had spread out.

Laughing slightly, Scarlett came to the conclusion that Jonas had multiple nicknames. "You have a lot of nicknames." Then, she noticed it. Was he... was he blushing? Scarlett couldn't help but blush herself at the very sight of this, she turned her head away towards the door of the elevator. Was Jonas really blushing because of her? That was a boost of ego, that was for sure. But, Jonas? Wasn't he the flirt of the group? He was the one most likely to get lucky with a model before the end of it. Landon didn't seem like the type, he was much more private and reserved out of the group.

Scarlett nodded. She was pretty sure that Lexa would tell her if the two hooked up. If not, Scarlett would just have to squeeze it out of her if that was possible. "Yeah, you're right." It was only an attempt to reassure herself that Lexa would tell her if the two were hooking up. There was more obnoxious flashing up here than there was down there, seeing how the hallways were packed with models.

His next offer surprised her. Scarlett acted like she wasn't so surprise by it, but she sure was. She nodded once before glancing down the hallway to see the room 420. Landon and Jonas were suppose to be in that room. Now, were was her room? "Thanks. But, your not getting lucky." Scarlett waved a finger in front of Jonas' face, to show him that he wasn't getting lucky. She pushed her way past a few models, trying to get to the room 420. They were on the fourth floor. Scarlett tried not to be too rough, seeing how these girls never lifted a weight in their life.

Ah, what a lovely day. It was pouring outside with strong thunderstorms, my favorite weather. That day just so happened to be in June -- my last name -- what a coincidence. So, my name is Geri June; it sounds like two J's, but it's a G and a J. Which leads us to yet another topic: my favorite number. For some odd reason, my favorite number is eleven. I used to think it was because I was born on June eleventh, but everything happens on the eleventh. Something either good, or something horrible.
