Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hi there!

My name is Blobby and I just came across your roleplay search thread in Barton Town. I was wondering if you might be interested in a thread I run which I think might help! It's called 'THE Roleplay Search Thread' and is basically a directory of roleplays and roleplayers. You can either use it by looking through the directory to find other people or groups you think you might be interested in or you can submit a short and simple form and get listed yourself, and let the roleplays and roleplay partners come to you! If you're interested in taking a look just click the button below! I hope you find it useful and hope to see you there soon!

    Name: Andreas Linderman
    Nick Name/Alias: Andreas
    Race: Human
    Age: 23
    Birthday: 18th of January
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Andreas - but with skin the colour of light brown sugar, showing his foreign heritage.
    Height: 6 feet
    Weight: 157lbs
General Wardrobe: Although he is no longer working directly as assistant to the Dean at Jordan, habit is deeply ingrained and Andreas is almost always found to be wearing a loose fitting shirt, a waitcoat and loose but smart trousers. His choice of attire comes from long hours running various errands for the Dean in a stiffling, stuffy suit. Due to his position it was a requirement that he appear smart at all times in order to present a suitable image of the college when receiving guests, so his eventual choice was an acceptable compromise which took several months and many binned outfits to reach.
Personality: Although he works for the G.O.B, Andreas doesn't see the bad in the task set for him - he believes what he is doing is for the best and that the witches were simply misguided in giving the three tools to mere children. If fact, thats the way Andreas see's everything - he doesn't have any concept of people being bad or evil, he just believes they are misguided or mistaken. His role as the Dean's assistant has given him excellent people skills, allowing him to comfortably converse with most people. He does however carry a slight air of presumed authority from his time at Jordan, which occasionally leads to friction and tension now he has left the college.

    Dæmon's Name: Nikichi (ni-key-chee)
    Species: ferret
    Gender: Female
    Appearance: Nikichi
Height: approx 3-4 inches when on all fours.
    Weight: 3lb
Personality: Nikichi is somewhat most pessimistic than Andreas. She isn't as naive and although she's tried to educate her human on the way the world really works, it's never been successful, so Nikichi eventually settled for humouring Andreas. To make up for his beliefs, she tries to be even more vigilant and cautious than she already is. Although she tried to talk Andreas around to avoiding the GOB, she was totally unsuccessful so she's had to settle for trying to keep him safe now they're on the island.

    Class: G.O.B Spy
    Job: Dean's Assistant
    Hometown: Oxford
History: Andreas was born at Jordan College some twenty-two years ago. His father was a scholar there and his mother a foreign servant who died giving birth. Upon discovering that her husband had commited adultery, his father's wife divorced him, leaving Andreas motherless in a world of men. He rarely saw his father, who seemed ashamed of his actions and saw the boy as an unpleasant reminder of the whole thing. Instead he was bought up and taught with the other scholars children, although he was generally shunned and the focus of whispers and rumors because of his tanned skin and lack of mother. As he grew older he found he connected more easily with the servant's children and was often in trouble for playing rough games with them and ruining his clothes. Eventually he reached the age where the other children began finding jobs, either within the college or in other parts of the city, and he found himself alone again.

His position as Dean's assistant came about completely by accident. One evening when he was around fifteen he had been exploring some of the less-used corridors in the college, rounded a corner without looking and crashed headlong into the Dean himself, scattering papers and breaking a bottle of foul smelling, dark red liquid over both of them. Terrified of the trouble he was about to get in, he collected the papers as quickly as he could while the Dean was still cursing and sprinted from one end of the college and back when he demanded Andreas fetch him clean robes. On reaching the office with the fresh garments the Dean angrily commented that he was now late for the evening meal and had not had time to carry out several other tasks. Not sure what to do Andreas tried to shuffle inconspicuously towards the door - unfortunately this was the wrong thing to do, and the movement caught the Dean's attention. Sharp eyes locked on the scrawny boy, freezing him where he stood "Since it's your fault I'm so late you can help me catch up. It can be your punishment for running wild in the hallways!" he stated, reeling off a list of tasks such as delivering papers and collecting items from various people in the college, piling the envelopes in question into Andreas' arms as he spoke. Years later Andreas realised the Dean hadn't expected him to complete any of the tasks but when he arrived back at the office some time later with replies and the collected packages the Dean made no comment but simply issued another string of commands and tasks, including that he should arrive promptly at 6am the next morning and be more appropriately attired.

From running simple errands Andreas quickly gained a solid understanding of the work involved and was steadily entrusted with more and more complex and important errands, until eventually he was trusted with almost everything, such as greeting important guests and representing the College in instances where the Dean was unable to attend. Inevitably in his new role he came to know the Dean's son - Aldwyn - as Andreas was often required to carry out personal tasks for the Dean as well as official ones. The two boys grew close and Andreas finally found others around him to be accepting of his strange skin.

His new job also meant he grew close to the Dean's secretary and often as not it was her organising which tasks Andreas would carry out for the Dean. It was through her that he came to learn of the G.O.B and eventually he was pursuaded with honied words to join, and to keep this from general knowledge. Over time he came to really believe in the aims and hopes of the GOB - that the tools had not been destroyed and that if found they could be used to create a more balanced, harmonious world. The idea particularly appealed to the shunned boy that Andreas had been as a child, and when the Dean informed him several years later that Aldwyn had been chosen by the witches to wield the Alethiometer and that Andreas was to acompany him, he knew it was his chance to prove himself and make a real difference to the world. However he was less than impressed when he found out the Dean was sending his secretary aswell, seeing it as a sign of mistrust and a threat to his chance at glory. Although she is technically his superior within the GOB he has begun to resent her and her orders, prefering to find his own way to achieve their goals so he can claim all credit when they succeed.
Aspirations: To gain possession of one or more of the tools and deliver them to the GOB so that they can be put to use to create a fairer world for everyone.
    Other:
Weapons: Andreas doesn't carry any kind of weapon other than a small, sharp eating knife. He's also a fair aim at throwing things from his days playing with servants' children and throwing stones and mud at each other but these aren't particularly effective in an actual fight.
Carry Ons: Andreas bought with him a small satchel, containing several notepads and writing tools, in order to keep records of activities on the island for the Dean.
    Theme Song: Aeryon - Loser
Right, posting here is a much better use of my macroeconomics lecture than actually listening so on to the [ list ] lesson!

The list function is essentially an indent for your whole block of text.

    like this

      and this
like this

and this

They're cumulative so if you use it twice it'll move your text twice as far, 3 times will move it 3 times ar far etc etc etc.

You can also use it to actually make a list by using [ * ] too which create a bullet point.

For example:
  • colors
  • sizes
  • order of codes
  • formatting text

colors

sizes

order of codes

formatting text
Although that's more useful when you're running a thread for things like lists of rules etc rather than in posting formats.

SO! How is it useful in a post format? To be honest, it's not really that useful but 'adv-lit' and 'elite' roleplayers seem to like it D= I normally use it to move the text across just enough so that it's not flush against my character image on the left. But it's also quite useful for lining things up in your format, e.g.

            Kaya

              Marie

                Rose

That's pretty much it really! Just remember to make sure the [ list ] and [ /list ]'s are equalled out!
Hi again!

Sorry to bother you, but we've had a re-vamp at T R S T that may affect your listing. Due to a number of comments about the different possible interpretations of literacy levels, we've defined our own based on writing ability and added a post length section to both forms. We've also added a section to specify whether you prefer to use certain roleplaying mediums like threads, PMs, messengers etc.

I'm contacting you to let you know what these new literacy levels are and to give you the chance to update your listing accordingly, using the super short forms below.

The new lit levels are as follows:
    • non-lit -> Using *this* for actions. May include grammar errors and lack punctiation/capital letters.
    • semi-lit -> Able to write in sentences and use "these" for speech and 'these' for thought. Some punctuation used.
    • lit -> Able to spell accurately 95% of the time and use puncuation such as commas. Able to form detailed posts and help move the plot along. Able to double.
    • adv. lit -> Near flawless spelling and grammar, consistently using good writing style (variety of sentence types, writing techniques, character thoughts etc. Consistently able to creatively move the the story along, including plot twists and unexpected outcomes. Able to include several secondary characters.
    • Elite -> Novel style writing with extensive descriptions, detailed exploration of character thoughts, feelings and motivations. Able to include multiple, detailed characters and interact each in different ways with other characters.

You will probabaly fit criteria from several groups. If this is the case please select the one you fit most criteria from, or the one you fit most of the time.

If you wish to change your personal listing please copy the form below and post it in the thread:

I consider myself to be: [non-literate/semi-lit/literate/adv-lit/elite] (SELECT ONE ONLY!)
My posts are: [post length]
My prefered roleplay medium is: [how you prefer to roleplay - threads, PMs, offsite, messengers etc]

If you have a roleplay listed and wish to change it, please post the following form, with relevant info, in the thread:

Roleplay name: [no need to link, this is just incase people have ore than one roleplay listed!]
Literacy level: [non-literate/semi-lit/literate/adv-lit/elite] (SELECT ONE ONLY!)
Required post length is: [post length]

Sorry again to bother you and thanks for taking the time to read this!

xxxxxxA rustle in the bushes bordering the beach startled the wild rabbit who skittered off towards the safety of cover as a small creature flowed silently onto the sand, followed close behind by a not so quiet man. "Slow down Niki! Just because you can slip through tiny gaps with no effort doesn't mean travelling through all these bushes is as easy for me!" he called down the beach as his daemon wove nimbly through the driftwood and seaweed abandoned at the high tide line. His irritation could never last when it came to his ferret companion though, and soon he was laughing at her sheer joy in her own speed and agility. He followed her much smaller prints down the sand and walked along the arc of sand until he reached the biggest piece of driftwood - a huge tree that must have been uprooted in a serious storm and striped of it's bark by the waves, eventually being dumped on the beach where the sun had bleached it until it looked like a white statue of a tree, with twisted roots reaching high into the sky.

xxxxxxAndreas clambered up until he found a comfortable spot, with his back resting against one of the largest roots. Restless as ever, Nikichi continued to weave in and out of the roots, exploring the niches and holes created by the twisted network and the seaweed and other detrius that had built up against the tree over the years. She had never understood why her human insisted on documenting everything in his notebooks, but as with most things she humored him. In this case she didn't even mind as he'd decided to explore and map the small island, which meant she got to explore and play. Resigned to her human being boring for the next few hours as he sketched the outline of the island and took notes on the climate, plants and animals they had come across whilst here in an attempt to work out the islands location for the GOB, Nikichi wove along the beach, snapping up the odd insect and chasing the sea birds which flocked onto the beach in search of sand worms. With no cover there was no chance of her catching anything but she chased them none the less, enjoying the chance to stretch and push herself to the limit of her speed, seeing how close she could get before the fat, lazy birds would take off. Being fairly small for a ferret, she wouldn't have been able to eat a whole bird anyway, but she missed fresh, hot meat. Andreas always made sure she had food from the kitchens back at Jordan, but nothing could beat catching one of the small birds that made their nests in the campus trees and snapping the whole thing up.

xxxxxxEventually she got bored and changed tack, weaving in and out of the tree line above where Andreas sat, rummaging through the undergrowth in search of rodent nests and such. Unfortunately there was nothing living in the sandy soil and she returned to the driftwood tree, climbing up through the roots until she appeared suddenly on Andreas' shoulder. "Is it lunch time yet?" she moaned, hungry after her exertion.

xxxxxxAndreas laughed "Are you trying to sneak up on me again? You know it's impossible! I always know exactly where you are Niki". He rubbed her favourite spot on the back of her skull and reached for his bag, which was hanging from a sturdy root next to him. "And what happened to catching something for lunch anyway?" he asked with a grin as he rummaged through the bag for the lunch he'd begged from one of the gyptian women that morning. He pulled out his own lunch and balanced it on his knee and then pulled out Nikichi's, holding it out in front of himself so she had to run along his arm to it, and then flicking it to his other hand. He chuckled again as she launched after the meat, catching it in mid-air and using his other arm as a launch pad to send herself flying towards the other end of the tree trunk, where she proceeded to settle down and tear her lunch apart.

xxxxxxHe smiled at her and unwrapped the paper covering around his food, pulling out some bread, cheese and cold sliced meat from the previous day's food. Tucking in, he took the a moment to look around the beach properly, enjoying the scenery as opposed to trying to note important details. The tide was almost at it's peak, although it was still quite a way down the sand from their tree, which must have been thrown up the beach during one hell of a storm. He shuddered at the thought and made a mental note to ask one of the gyptians whether storms were a regular thing on the island. He sincerely hoped the answer was no... as a child he had hated the flashes of lightning and the rumbling thunder that felt like boulders were crashing into the building. Having no one to run to for comfort, he'd huddled under his duvet with Nikichi in as big a form as she could manage so he could curl up against her for a measure of safety.

xxxxxxSnapping out of his memory as he finished the bulk of his lunch, he stuffed his notepad into his bag and pulled out an apple. He wedged it between his teeth so he could use both hands to clamber down the side of the tree trunk and walk down towards the water, picking up a few stray pebbles as he went so he could try skimming. Nikichi watched with amusement from her spot on the tree trunk, 'Humans!' she tutted 'Always attracted to dangerous things, thinking they can control or use them!'.

xxxxxxShe watched with satisfied glee as a particularly energetic wave caught Andreas by surprise, soaking him almost to his hips with freezing, salty water. She only just managed to wipe the amusement from her face and mind before he stomped back to the tree and began peeling his wet trousers off to try and wring them out a little. "Stupid wave ... typical ... can't go back ... laughing stock" he muttered furiously under his breath. "There's no point throwing a tantrum Andreas" Nikichi cut through his grumblings "It's your own fault for getting so close to the water! If you lay them out on the log they'll be dry in no time"

xxxxxx"And what am I mean tot do in the meantime?" he demanded "Sit here in my underwear?".

xxxxxx"That's exactly what you're going to have to do. And while you're at it you should learn to stop taking out your own mistakes on other people" she snapped back, picking herself up and stalking off towards the tree line to find herself a cosy hole to curl up in.

Age: In her own planets terms she is approaching 100 years old, however the years on her planet last around 4 earth months, so in earth terms she is around 32. However her species tends to measure age simply by who was born first, they don't track age in years or birthdays.
Race: Nahara
Position: She's currently unemployed but is hoping to get a job as a medic or ship's doctor, rather than having to stow away again. However there may be some exageration of her abilities needed to get said job!
Gender: Her species doesn't have different genders. They are technically a-sexual but in appearance they resemble human women more than human men. So female.
Weapon and/or fighting style: She doesn't really have a fighting style. She's never been in a fight before unless you count being thrown from the various ships she stowed away on. She could potentially use many of her herbs and medecines to cause harm but these aren't much good in a physical fight, and it's never really occured to her that she could do this.

HariGemiin

quote/rumour

    The facts...

My mother called me Hari Gemiin and wrapped me in blue. Fifteen years later my friends call me Hari. They give me presents on Autumn nineteenth, but all I really want is to keep my perfect girl. I call the USA my one true home but I've been staying in India where I was born to learn how to control my astral projection (and the seeing ghosts that comes with it) and thoughtform projection.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxx...on the outside...

When I look in the mirror I see a fairly slimly built teenager, not much visible muscle on me at all, I'm more the wiry muscles type. From head to toe I'm about 5"11, but thats including my hair, which invariably sticks up at every angle imaginable, I'm actually a couple of inches shorter without it. On the note of my hair its kinda dark brownish, and choppy, some bits are medium length (the bits that stick up alot) and others are down to my shoulders. My eyes are like a greyish browny kind of colour... I'm not really sure what to call them to be honest... I suppose they change with the time of day and the light and all that.
I normally wear loose white or lightly coloured tshirts and jeans or canvas trousers except when I'm training in which case I wear slacks or shorts depending on the weather. If it gets cold i don a hoody or jacket but since I'm active so much I don't normally need it. i have a couple of favourite pairs of shoes but half the time I'm wearing training shoes anyway.
Have a look at my album! I don't have an album... I don't really like photos to be hoenst - too likely that someone will catch me on camera doing something I shouldn't be! Oh wait... I forgot about this one photo.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...the inside...

I'm good at sports, pranks and being the center of attention. But it's best if you don't let me do anything academic, try to keep quiet or still or go hungry. My favourite colour is turquoiseblue and being active, Felecia, fruits, funny people and attention make me happy but I prefer to avoid geeks, garlic, being stuck indoors, rain and Alexial. I loathe being alone and would love to be a professional in a sport when I leave school.

People say I'm different things depending on when they met me. All those aunts and uncles that you meet who go on about "When I last saw you you were this big!" and indicate somewhere around their knees; they would tell you I'm a mischiveous child who's always moving or playing sport or doing something, that I never sit still and that it wouldn't do me any harm to take a leaf out of my sisters book and calm down a little from time to time. Of the two of us I was always the one on the naughty step while she got treats for good behaviour, so I began to toe the line. I'd play up just enough to be annoying and get on peoples nerves but not enough to give anyone reason to tell me off. Thats how my middle school teachers would say I am; a pain in the backside who never actually does anything wrong but still manages to be a nuisance. People at Eden Rose would say I'm one of those kids that gets on with pretty much everyone, no real enemies or anything like that. I'm always with people and I'm always suggesting things to do because I hate sitting around doing nothing, so I guess people tend to look to me for that automaticlaly now.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...in the past...

Well... I was born at eleven minutes past seven in the evening on Autumn nineteenth and my sister was born just eight minutes later. I was the bigger child and, as far as parental psychology goes apparantly that means I get less attention because Alexial looked smaller and weaker and all that rubbish. So from a very young age I was the trouble maker to try and wrest back my fair share of attention I guess. I never really got on with Alexial. She was the good, obedient, patient one, who played nicely with other children and shared her toys and I was the one eating glue and jumping on tables, stealing other kids toys and hiding them... generally making a nuisance of myself I suppose. My parents fawned attention on her for being a good girl and I got ignored. Thats pretty much how all of school went for me, I perfected my misbehaving and had it down to a fine art by the time I was twelve.

We both developed the same powers, which seemed really weird since we're non-identical. That only made my trouble making even more interesting, since I could project and see things I shouldn't be able to see, or flash a projection and make people think there was something there when there wasn't - like in horror films where they look up and see something in the mirror, and then turn around and it's gone? Had great fun tricking all the girls in my middle school into thinking one of the girls bathrooms was haunted!

Last year we both ended up going to this special highschool in India for kid's like us. Turns out our Dad had an ability he never told Mum about, so he wasn't surprised when we got invited there, but Mum didn't seem very impressed. They worked out their differences in the end though, and off we went to India. At first, I wasn't so sure about the new school. In middle school, even though no-one else knew it, I was special and different from the rest of them, and I was always the center of attention. At Eden Rose, everyone has powers, and I worried that might mean things wouldn't be the same, but while there's always something mind boggling going on there, teenagers are still just teenagers and I'd soon found myself a crowd of friends to mess around with.

The downside at Eden Rose is they wouldn't just sigh and say my bad academic grades were unavoidable and that I was hopeless. They made me do this test with loads of random questions, and it turns out I'm dyslexic, which supposedly means I'm smarter than normal, but I have trouble with words, spellings and numbers. So when I know the answer, I can't get it out in words to explain it, and everyone assumes I don't know and I'm stupid. Sounds about right. While it was nice to finally get why I was the way I was, they forced me to sign up for their mentoring scheme, where they pair you with a really clever student who's meant to help you get better and stuff. I hated the idea at first and I walked out on Felecia more than once from frustration over how difficult I found some of the work. But she was stubborn and persistent and eventually my grades started to slowly creep up a little. They're still not great but at least I'm not straight failing anymore. The silver lining is Felecia. Over all those sessions we ended up being really close. She didn't judge me instantly as a troublemaker or stupid and I guess that's what I really needed - someone who thought I could do better, rather than a hopeless class clown. We ended up dating, and even now she's probably the only person that see's past my fooling around. She's the only person I've ever talked to about Alexial too, and how being her twin warped my childhood and personality.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...and the present.

Now I'm off to school for my sophomore year! I'm staying in the dorms so I won't have to walk to school each day. I'm taking Physics, Team Sports, Power Development, French, Water Sports, and Anthrophology this year but of course its not all about lessons! My after school plans are:
        Monday: Karate
        Tuesday: chilling or studying
        Wednesday: Basketball
        Thursday: Soccer
        Friday: chilling or studying
