                          the not so friendly private investigator tab 28

                            • raised in a small city and yearned for something more. who wouldn't?
                            • attempted being a detective in a larger city. he wasn't feeling it and ended up quitting.
                            • retired and became a private investigator. his experience on the force really prepared him for the job.
                            • his job is pretty boring, despite how awesome the idea sounds. mostly finding missing cats, stalking people for info and digging up dirt on kindergarten teachers.
                            • horribly addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. gotta spend your time doing something fun, right?
                            • prefers winter weather and the clothes that he can wear during it. like heavier coats, long sleeve shirts and boots.
                            • huge fan of the murder mystery genre. spends quite a bit of time reading books and comics, as well as watching netflix.
                            • he's a stay home and curl up on the couch with a beer kind of guy.
                            • has a smaller family. no siblings, but several cousins. all of which he knew intimately.
                            • seems rather unfriendly. it's true he's not the best person to be around, but he's not so bad.
                            • nicer than he looks. he's actually haunted by some of the s**t he saw on the job.
                            • becomes emotionally attached to and invested in others rather easily. hates it, too.
                            • has distanced himself from his old pals. and they're more than happy to let him.
                            • not the type to sleep around. sure, he's interested in sex, but not with strangers. needs emotion.
                            • fairly 'by the book' when it comes to just about everything. save for his cousin's disappearance.
                            • steadily became an insomniac. struggles to sleep.
                            • ends up napping quite a bit. usually after a few beers.
                            • not too keen on gore. takes a lot of effort to keep himself from hurling.
                            • extremely visual horror films often have him cringing and covering his eyes. not in fear, but to stop himself from hurling.
                            • he's seen way too much real life gore in his past. but that's what you get for working in the big city.
                            • despises traveling. especially by plane. it's too much work. and it's scary as s**t.

                                                  “This coffee tastes like piss,” the man spoke, standing in the kitchen with a hand scratching his stomach. The woman, Sherry, turned her head to look at him. She had that same expression she’d had since the day he arrived. No matter what she said or did, her expression was one of despair. He could hear the exhausted, trying laugh in her voice, but her words didn’t convey it.

                                                  “Then don’t drink it,” Despite her input, she didn’t reach for his cup or even step toward him. She hovered by the kitchen’s edge, her attention shifting between the man and the television she could barely see through the doorway. Her attention was always on the television, desperately hoping for some word about Rowan. No word ever came. Months later, she was still hoping to hear something. Anything. Sherry had told him time and time again that she wanted closure. And, at this point, she was prepared for the worst.

                                                  “How long are you going to be here, Fred?” Sherry’s voice was distant, her eyes blank. She’d asked this question so many times and Freddie had always given her the same answer.

                                                  “I’ll stay as long as I need to,” He reminded her gently before slurping another mouthful of brown liquid into his mouth. Freddie had arrived a week or so ago. Currently, he was sleeping in Sherry’s living room. If the search lasted more than a month or so, he would look into renting a place of his own. Sherry didn’t seem too keen on him being there for too long, though she clearly preferred the company. Swallowing hard, he set the mug down and watched the woman. No matter how many times he assured her that he would be staying, she never seemed to believe him. In her mind, he didn’t care. Not as much as she did. But Freddie did care. He had spent those first few weeks urging the police to keep searching. He had pulled some strings, called in favors, the works - but there was nothing to be found. Story was that Rowan had gone out one day and didn’t come home. It was uncommon for him. He loved the hell out of Sherry and they were expecting. He wouldn’t have left her alone.

                                                  Freddie could easily rule out the idea of Rowan running away, but it seemed that the police were unable to. At least until they found some old blood out in the woods. The blood was accompanied by Rowan’s wallet, which was empty, save for his driver’s license. No charges were made on any of his cards after that.

                                                  “Sherry,” Freddie touched her arm gently. She jumped at his touch, swinging to stare at him. Her eyes were wide with surprise.

                                                  “I’m going back out today. See if I can dig anything up,” Freddie’s last search hadn’t been fruitful and Sherry knew that. Even so, she nodded, permitting him to continue searching. Freddie never explained his methods to her and she never asked. As long as he was trying, Sherry was content. Well, as content as a girl could be when he boyfriend had been missing for months.

                                                  After a hot shower, Freddie was dressed and out the door. His clothing was layered. A tank top was covered up in a flannel button up, which peaked out around the collar of his jacket. It was a heavier jacket, dark and full of insulation. Despite his hatred of being cold, he adored the comfortable clothing that the chillier weather called for.

                                                  His goal for today was to canvas another neighborhood. He had gone door to door in the neighborhoods closest to Sherry and Rowan’s apartment. Freddie had little luck there, receiving mostly negative answers. If he was lucky, he’d get an unsure, somewhat positive answer. But those leads never panned out. So Freddie did all he could and began to expand his search, slowly moving further and further out.

                                                  He had already canvassed a few homes on the block. He had received a tentative yes moments before, though he was unsure of the statement’s truth. An older woman had said that she had seen him at a health foods store, but Rowan would never set foot in a place like that. When he asked her when she had seen him, she replied that it had been earlier in the week. Definitely not Rowan.

                                                  Freddie, admittedly, had lost hope for finding Rowan alive. But that didn’t mean that he was done searching for him. Or his killer. Moving on to the next house, which he cautiously jogged across the street to, he silently made his way up the steps. Raising a hand, he knocked three times and patiently waited. A small huff escaped him as he felt the chill of the wind hit him. It wasn’t terribly cold out, but it was enough to make him want to return to his cozy spot on the couch. Perhaps with a beer in hand, quietly sipping on it as he watched whatever shitty show was on tv.

                                                  When the door finally opened, Freddie instinctively raised the picture of his cousin for the young man to see. “Afternoon, sir. Sorry for bothering you, but I was wondering if you’ve seen this man around? His name's Rowan King. He’s been missing for a little while and the police haven’t been able to figure anything out.”

                                                  “Uh, some people down the street said you might know him. But that’s probably just ‘cause you’re young.” Rowan had many friends, though he had never mentioned a younger male. This man, with piercing blue eyes, would have come up in conversation had they known one another. He seemed like a good kid, though Freddie safely assumed that he was not the owner of the house.

                                                  “Are your parents home? Maybe they’ve seen him around.” Freddie gestured back to the picture.

                            • raised by a family that was pretty well off. so he never really wanted for anything.
                            • has two sisters. both parents are still married and still in love.
                            • has always been known as a good kid. he was quiet and kept his head down.
                            • comes alive when he's with friends, lovers or loved ones.
                            • has a habit of being sarcastic and prideful. fairly hard to be friends with at times.
                            • regardless of his unapproachable personality, he's pretty compassionate. he cares, even if he doesn't seem like it.
                            • being in love made him much more animated and he enjoyed life a bit more. unfortunately, it didn't last long.
                            • dated ______ back in high school. was fairly happy, for the most part. at least until he was accused of cheating.
                            • they both "agreed" to end it.
                            • and by "agreed," let's just say the decision to end it was mutual. it wasn't as clean a break as "agreed" implies.
                            • still holds a grudge against ______ for his accusations. unable to let it go, even after all the years.

                            • currently in college. finishing up his fine arts degree.
                            • currently employed at the museum as a one-man display crew.

                            • followed in his grandfather's footsteps mainly for the action.
                            • he also has a strong sense of justice. believes in wrong and right.
                            • recently became employed at the police department as a detective, after serving roughly a year on the force.
                            • often known as a big teddy bear. somewhat of a pushover. he only lets people push him around so much, though.
                            • has never really been a stable, long-lasting relationship. prizes his friendships over anything else.
                            • lives off of tv dinners, microwave meals and maruchan ramen. rarely cooks due to a lack of free time.
                            • often finds himself sympathizing with criminals. has been known to be friendly to them, especially the regulars.
                            • genuinely wants to aid others, regardless of whether they are good or bad.
                            • generally believes most people are not bad. people are only placed in bad situations.
                            • he has seen some of the truly bad people, though, and doesn't apply this belief to them.
                            • nor does he want to befriend them, seeing as most of them committed horrible crimes.
                            • extremely intrigued by the worst of the worst. a.k.a., serial killers.
                            • has many psyche books and other works of literature about serial killers.
                            • some are too graphic and upsetting, but he works through them to understand the reasoning of the killer and pay his respects to the victims.
                            • often visits the serial killer exhibit at the museum.
                            • and he often spends hours there, simply seeking inspiration on cases he's struggling with.

            for park ranger, think the homeless/hitchhiker was camping out somewhere they weren't supposed to.
          ex-criminal x civilian/gang member/etc.
            someone trying to get away from crime is dragged back in. how, we'll figure it out.

              i'm short on gold. are you??? well, if you are, then you've come to
              the right place. i will not set prices for my graphics, i only ask you
              pay what you can/want. there are no base prices and no matter
              how much you pay, you will recieve quality graphics. samples can
              be found here. i'll be updating the thread as i make newer graphics,
              so feel free to keep checking.

              please, when offering, offer something that sounds reasonable.
              i'm not asking for millions of gold, just something worth working
              for. the more you pay, the quicker i'll get your stuff to you.
              you can pay in items, though i'm wayyy too lazy to list items that
              i'd want. so i guess ask before you offer an item?
              i do give away free graphics every now and then, so if you
              really can't pay anything, then talk to me about it before submitting
              an order. this is a temporary shop, so it won't be open forever. even
              so, feel free to message me even after this place closes to request
              stuff. i honestly love making graphics, and if the request is fun, i'll
              be more than happy to do it. also, please make sure that you have
              permission to use the photos you put in your request. i can not stress
              that enough.
              do not steal the graphics that i make for other people.
              i do not to coding, unfortunately. but i'd be happy to find you someone
              who does.
              do not ask me to look for pictures for you. i'm terrible at picking.
              also, please save the graphics once i finish them! there's a chance
              that i may delete them in the future and i'd hate for you to lose them.
              i use gimp, so i don't have as many resources as photoshop. if you
              find some or know where i can get more, i'm all ears.
              if you don't like something about the graphic, let me know! i'm more
              than happy to edit it until you're happy.
              please do not pm order forms to me. please post them here and be sure
              to quote me, or else i might overlook your order.
              i have the right to decline offers, though i most likely won't reject
              you on price.
              thread layouts will most likely cost more since they take longer. so

weird guy. kind of attractive, maybe dorky looking. or just looks perpetually tired.
loves to freak people out - not upset them, but just confuse or creep them out with weird comments.
think april from parks and rec.
he's bisexual, maybe asexual? or just straight up aromatic(bases love on emotions, not looks/gender/etc.).
face-claim wise, i'm thinking kaneki ken or nanase haruka or levi
personality would be something along the lines of he's a hard worker, gets a rise out of freaking people out, is generally a good kid and is pretty sweet. but he doesn't like being perceived that way. he prefers to be alone, for the most part. fairly smart and cares about schoolwork and often buries himself in homework in order to avoid people. so studious.
bio would be something like he grew up with a chipper family who divorced. still somewhat bitter about it and doesn't really like communicating with either parent. understands why, but wishes it didn't happen. has a few siblings. one is older and lives with his mother(or at least still talks to her and favors her) the other live with his dad(two sisters? or a sis and a bro?). he's the only one who has disconnected from the family.
he's generally nice to his family still, tho he avoids alone time and long, heart-filled conversations.
