When you think of the story Love Hina, I'm sure you remember of all the crazy characters we fell head over heels with ... am I right? The timid chef Shinobu, Honorable warrior Motoko, Gambling/Booze addict Kitsune, Crazy inventor Kaolla Su, Faint turtlenese speaking Mutsumi, and not to mention our favorite lovable couple Keitaro and Naru, but what if these characters never existed? What if Keitaro had never received his job as landlord? No my friends this is not the twilight zone but a fresh beginning...
In the Kanagawa Prefecture our dear Grandma Hinata was too impatient to find someone she knew closely to take over her inn before heading off her world touring trip. Although she was frustrated it didn't prevent her from walking her lovely girls away from the Hinata Inn. While venturing into the small town bundled up in a scarf, gloves and sweater to protect herself from the cold weather, she couldn't help but scold herself for forgetting something. Yes, this something was the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree, every year into the middle of the most busiest part of town this large plant would be hosted up for all to see. Although the town was already covered in head to toe in lights it would be nothing without the tree.
People of all ages crowded around awaiting to see the magnificent site, it is rumored that if make a wish upon once it was lit, that wish would most likely come true. The crowd chanted and cheered and soon received what they had been waiting for, multitudes of colors appeared in front of their very own eyes, different shaped and sized ornaments hung proudly among the large green branches, and a bright star shone at the very top. Soon the crowd grew quiet at this moment everyone were making their wishes whether it be about toys, or a job, perhaps about a long lasting relationship. Grandma Hinata made a 'hmmph' sound, she hadn't taken part of this ridiculous act since she was a young adult, though tonight it felt different. For the first time in forty five years she closed her fragile and wrinkled eyes and made a wish, she had wished she would find a responsible young man to take over what she found the most precious in the world ... her girls.
Once a few minutes passed by the crowd began to thin out, the elderly woman couldn't help but feel childish doing such a thing. Nothing special had happened just like she expected . Suddenly at that moment her eyes feel upon a decent and innocent looking teenage boy, with a list and bags in hand it looked as if he were taking part of some last minute Christmas shopping. Was he the one ? Her eyes slowly shifted back to the grand tree, and she couldn't help but chuckle at herself, what this perhaps a holiday miracle? Who knew? Though she wasn't going to let this one slip away. Grandma Hinata kindly asked the girls to walk back home, she told them she a had a few errands to take care of. As soon as the excited females were out of sight, she carried out her plan.
Scurrying towards the boy she explained to him she had an opening spot of a landlord, to her surprise he had recently moved to the small town and had thought about finding a job. With some convincing the hesitant teen finally agreed with her conditions and with that Grandma Hinata's to-do list was complete. Her bags were packed, tickets bought, male staff assembled, though it still seemed that she had forgotten to inform the new employee something. Oh right, he would now be keeping his eyes over a house full teenage girls, and she had forgotten to inform the females that they would be taken care of by boys. Whoops ! How forgetful was she? Shrugging her delicate shoulders she boarded the steps unto her plane and thought they wouldn't mind, it wasn't that important was it?
So with Lady Hinata gone, female residents, an all-male staff, and beautiful scenery ... Will there be new winter romances? Or will everything turn into one big disaster?
