EDIT:
Significantly less lock-downish, but still has some of it's previous perks. I would like a way of getting zombie world out quicker, although I think it's fairly well protected once it's on the field.

I was unaware of the massive difference my two Il Bluds made to the deck until I finally got a hold of them. Pyramid turtle makes gemini summon a piece of cake, and the mystic tomatos make sure I get either PT, or BSA on the field.

I hardly have time to use relinquished before I've already mopped up the field.

The only thing I don't like about Il-blud is his risky summoning. The death of one can mean the death of your entire field.

(Explanations of uses white font after the card name)

Monsters

Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon x2 (Summoner, beatstick)
Il- Blud x2 (summoner, minor beatstick)
Zombie Master x3 (main summoners)
Pyramid Turtle x3 (puts Il Blud, ZM, REZD, or VL on the field easily)
Mystic Tomato x2 (puts PT, SABT, or GZ on the field easily)
Vampire Lord x2 (beatstick, harder to get rid of)
Malevolent Mech – Goku En x2 (beatstick that requires no tributes)
Relinquished (minor difficulty summoning, easily resurrected)
Lava Golem (destroys 2 monsters and inflicts 1000dmg per turn, requires minor preps)
Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower (floods the opponent’s graveyard)
Kiseitai (good to use against beatsticks, last resort against lava golem)
Skull-Mark Ladybug (tribute fodder +1000 lp, what’s not to love?)
Goblin Zombie (get ZM or Il Blud into your hand)
Barrier Statue of the Abyss (makes non-dark ss impossible)
Marie the Fallen One x2 (ZM/ Relinquished tribute fodder with +200 lp per turn, doesn’t require summoning)

Magic

Zombie World x2
Book of Life x3
Swords of Revealing Light x2
Prohibition (use on mystical space typhoon, or other key card)
Recycle (depending on how long it survives, it can be useful)
Black Illusion Ritual
Dark Core
Giant Trunade (always a good reset)
Everliving Underworld Cannon
Magic Reflector (far better than field barrier, and it prevents heavy storm from causing me troubles)
Axe of Despair (thinking about removing, atm i have no better choice)
Chain energy (If I use it early on, I can chain summon zombies, while they pay the price for their actions)
Mystical Space Typhoon
Miracle Dig (probably better than Imperial Iron Wall)

Traps

Shadow Spell (multiple uses, good for LG)
Wall of Revealing Light (hey, I need somewhere to spend those 400 lp per turn)
Gravity Bind (stalling)
Rivalry of Warlords x 3(prevent opponent from non- tribute summoning new monsters entirely so long as they have at least 1 on the field)
Thunder of Ruler (stalling)
A Hero Emerges (could be useful in a tight spot)
Trap of the Imperial Tomb
Magic Jammer (good…)
Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell (but this is better, looking for more)
Waboku
Spellbinding Circle
Fiend’s Hand Mirror
Sakuretsu Armor
Call of the Haunted
Metalmorph (earlier FMR form, not restricted to dmg calculation)

Edit end

A friend of mine made a zombie deck and I decided I'd play my hand at it as well. Lately, I've noticed there are a TON of vicious cards that can turn it into a lockdown deck, as well as flood the graveyards. I don't have a ton of money, so here are my cards. Any suggestions with more common cards?

My main idea of this deck is to make things impossible to tribute summon (except for me), normal summons usually die by the end of the turn, and every special summon benefits me/hurts them. Rather than have a bunch of high-attack monsters, I'll have an arsenal of disposable zombies that regenerate quickly, whereas their field should remain rather empty.

Monsters
Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon x2
Vampire Genesis
Vampire Lord x2
Il Blud x2
Malevolent Mech-Goku En x2
Pyramid Turtle x3
Zombie Master x3
Return Zombie
Barrier Statue of The Abyss (such a punk move...)
Dancing Fairy
Mysterious Puppeteer
Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower
Mystic Swordsman LV2
Man-Eater Bug
Nobleman-Eater Bug (another punk move... imagine tributing maneater for this...)
Goblin Zombie
Spear Cretin x2

Magic
Everliving Underworld Cannon
Swords of Revealing Light
Book of Life x3
Giant Trunade
Zombie World x2
The Shallow Grave x2
Lightning Vortex
Offerings to The Doomed
Tribute to The Doomed
Fissure x2
Dark Hole
Miracle Dig
Chain Energy (Nasty nasty...)
Dark Factory of Mass Production

Jerk Cards
Half or Nothing
Dust_Tornado
Infinate Dismissal
Trap Hole
Sakaretsu Armor x2
Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Torrential Tribute
Waboku x3
Mind Haxorz (yes, this is the real name of the card, and I love it.)
A Hero Emerges
Type Zero Magic Crusher
Depth Amulet

So, what(if anything) should be changed?

Plaguespreader Zombie, Burial From a Different Dimension, and Mezuki are must-haves if you wish to swarm the field. (Apologies if these are expensive cards, I'm not in the know about pricing.)

Eh, plaguespreader isn't too useful without synchros, and I'm fairly sure Mezuki is worth a TON

Burial from a different Dimension is nice, however. I have Miracle Dig, though I know its quite a bit more situational.

Forgot to mention that synchros are a must in Zombie-Swarming decks, that's why Plaguespreader should be in there.
I know you can't afford much, but the ingredients for top-tier decks like Zombies are usually rather pricey.

That's very true. Whenever I get a chance to find some of those cards for a little cheaper, perhaps. Until then, I don't think it's worth it.

It's not like I'm going to beat most tournament players. They're vicious.

This is mostly for playing with friends, although me and a friend may go team duel with zombie decks later on.

It's been a while since I went to a tournament, do they still accept team duels?

I dunno.
I live in an area where tourneys are not to be found.

What you have should work fine with friends, unless they are all hardcore of course. wink

1: Deck is too big. Legal deck size is 40 cards min..to a max of 60. I count 61 cards there. [This is in the rule book if I recall and has nothing to do with tourney's or formats. Deck size is 40-60 cards, With a max of 3 copies of any card in the deck]

2: Deck is too big. Poorly thoughht out trap choices, monster numbers, and spells. Key things you seem to rely on are at one. when they should be at higher numbers. Too many cards in deck meaning odds of getting what you need are harder and take longer. And at few copies in the deck then you could, you're relying more on luck to get what you want when you want it. And not biulding the deck to work to it's own win condition. basics are 1/60 or 1 / 40 which is the higher chance of getting what you want early enough to put it into play before defenses could be set into play.

3: Suggestions for tweaks:

Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon x2
Vampire Genesis
Vampire Lord x2
Il Blud x2
Malevolent Mech-Goku En x2
Pyramid Turtle x3
Zombie Master x3
Return Zombie
Barrier Statue of The Abyss
Dancing Fairy
Mysterious Puppeteer
Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower
Mystic Swordsman LV2
Man-Eater Bug
Nobleman-Eater Bug
Goblin Zombie
Spear Cretin x2

26 Monsters. A bit too many, especially as you have non zombies who won't benefit from the thinners/recruiters youdo have.

Vampire cards are pretty damn crappy too. But you do have some decent nubners on some other things so it's not abosuletly hopeless.

Monsters:

Zombie Master x3
Goblin Zombie x2
Pyramid Turtle x3
Red Eyes Zombie Dragon x3
Il Blud x2
Malevolent Mech Goku En x2

15 monsters to start. ZM is key. The ability to toss a monster from the hand to ss one from the grave.. gets around annoying summon conditions. Il Blud can be tossed, then ssed and second summoned to get effect. Zomie Dragon can be brought out faster without tribs..

Pyramid Turtles and Gob zombies allow you to thin and pull what you need to teh field/hand. And with ZMs you can recycle the goblins. Mech is a nice ss if you need a beatstick and if it dies you can just ss it again.

Now that's a base I'dsuggest biulding off. If you want field locks.. 2 Bone towers at least if not three. So you can create a field lock.

Also try hunting for Mezuki's [x2] and 1 Plaguespreader zombie as it allows an option to tuning as well as more graveyard manipulation.

If you want barrier.. then get like 2.. so you have more odds to put it in hand as well as mystic tomatoes or sangan to search it. Though it stops SS.. there are a number of high speed dangerous dark monsters that can easily be ssed.. so unless you don't fight many dark decks.. I'd consider losing it completely. As it won't help you in that case and just gets in the way of other more zombie/dark support.

If you can get Mezuki's or Plague Spreader that gives you 18 monstesr which isn't bad.

On the other hand 3 Krebons could be useful. For stalling and options to tune into useful things.

Spells:

Everliving Underworld Cannon
Swords of Revealing Light
Book of Life x3
Giant Trunade
Zombie World x2
The Shallow Grave x2
Lightning Vortex
Offerings to The Doomed
Tribute to The Doomed
Fissure x2
Dark Hole
Miracle Dig
Chain Energy
Dark Factory of Mass Production

19 Spells.. and they seem a bit better thought out then your others lists.

Still I'd suggest some tweak.

Zombie World x3
Book of Life x3
Lightning Vortex x1
Fissure x2
Heavy Storm x1
Giant Trunade x1
Terraforming x1
Mystical Space Typhoon x1
Allure of Darkness x2

Z world seems to be something you wanted to abuse. Good.. but three with a terraforming makes it easier I think to get it into play sooner so you can abuse the effect. Book of life is a good choice, trunade and Heavy Storm and MST provide some backrow heat. Destroying traps and clearing the backfield so you can make pushes without worrying about traps/spells.

LV is field clearer and as well as Fissure to help out.

Allure is to provide you a bit more speed to thedeck. Getting important things in to the hand faster And with all the dark monsters you can easily have something you can toss.

We're looking at about 33 odd cards now to the deck. Which now means we need at least 7 more.. though we could go to 9 Giving 42 cards in a deck usually doesn't hurt the deck in any meaningful way especially if you have means of thinning/drawing/recruiting to speed thru the deck.

So this leaves some traps options.
Your monsters cover a fair bit of the means of destruction/and ssing..
Spells give you the needed backrow hate and some field hate so you can easily make pushes and hit opponents lps with fewer trouble.

So I'd suggest looking at some counter options. So as to make sure you can play your cards unopposed.

Your list

Half or Nothing
Dust_Tornado
Infinate Dismissal
Trap Hole
Sakaretsu Armor x2
Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane
Torrential Tribute
Waboku x3
Mind Haxorz (yes, this is the real name of the card, and I love it.)
A Hero Emerges
Type Zero Magic Crusher
Depth Amulet

Some ok things.. some wth are you thinking? and some pretty much crap things..

So lets tweak...

Torrential Tribute x1
Threatening Roars x3
Sakuretsu Armor x2
Dust Tornado x2

Now we got a 42 or so card deck. Might be a bit.

Suggestions mind you... T Roars will protect you better then waboku.. as it skips the battle phase outright. Saku armos are ok I guess, if you're on a budget or casual.. play level. Dust Tornado same deal. Tis useful and should probably be at 2 at least for better odds of having it set so you can activate when you need it.

Alternatively you could consider a couple Tutan Masks to protect your zombies from being hit outside of battle. But given how easy it is to ss them from the grave watching them get nuke isn't big a deal as they can recover pretty fast. Depending on what hits the field.

Some suggestions to streamline the deck. Cause well honestly the major issue I have with it is the size. It's too big. Any smaller deck has better odds [if it's biult well and isn't a pile of cards] of crushing this despite things you have in it. Mostly due to having the things you need/want when you need/want them. The odds are not in your favor.

Slimming the deck down and tightening the focus can off set that allowing you to have what you want/need when you want need it... or even before you need it. Making it work better.

EDIT: Sheesh posts after I started typing his.
Mezukis shouldn't run more then 10 if that.. and Burial has been reprinted as a common now I believe.. [I think.. might be confusing it with antoher card] though so it may not be that pricey.. And PSZ is under 30. Just to give you an idea on some of them.

And plaguespreader can be useful even without synchros.. as it can rez itself from the graveyard to provide trib fodder... or syncrho fodder if you had that option. A lot of tuners are good for tuning.. but many are good beyond that. PSZ, Gale, Krebon.. they are all good outside of just being tuners.. The effects make them annoying and quite useful.

EDIT EDIT: As to the tounery things. that's depedant on your locals and what they run. Wether it's Traditional, Pegasus League, Advanced, or offer team/multiple opponent dueling options.

The largest portion of my traps allow me to stall and wipe out enemy cards so that I can wait long periods of time.

For the most part, I'm not dependent on strong monsters, but rather keeping numbers high and wasting away they opponent's traps.

The way I built it was so that I would not have to rely on any particular card, but rather the whole deck flows as one. The lockdown is not an absolute MUST, but rather an option if the cards happen to come around. It's hard to have both an effective zombie deck AND cripple constantly, so I'd rather rely on my zombies and the crippling will come by chance. I'm not relying on the Lockdown.

The non-zombies are for basic support (although spear cretin will basically act like a zombie). Zombie world will allow me to set up a simple lockdown on tributes, while turning both our graves into zombies, meaning my cretins, both man-eaters, and my faries can be summoned whenever I need to, with much variety and choice of the situation.

It's certainly not useless, though I'll agree it's not the best in the world.

The majority of those cards I have no access to outside of eBay. When I decide to take it further, I might binge on cards, but I purposely avoided many of those for reasons of my access to them.

As for field lock, I'm searching for a few, but at the moment I don't have much access to cardshops and most of my friends use them (mainly one, for archfiends and zombies)

Alot of this is a matter of taste. Personally, I don't like small decks because my options are limited. I'd rather have constant access to several options rather than to have a smaller number of options but quicker use of them.

Outside of just utterly vicious decks/luck, I don't see what I have being wiped out just because of my number of cards.

I already know about mezuki and threatening roars though, I just don't know anyone with them.

As for my strategy, you seem to be pushing more towards a traditional zombie deck, whereas I am trying to make a more lockdown-oriented deck that floods the enemy graveyard and limits their options. Anyone with a few trap/magic jammers and some remove-from-play effects can wipe out a deck like that, my aim is to make as many threats as possible, if one of them is taken out, I still have more.

Power in numbers.

heres what i would do after you trim out some of the useless cards like mind haxorx
add 3x Malice doll of demise
3x Ectoplasmer
2x Soul absorbing bone tower
2or3x patrician of darkness
all of these cards are cheap on Troll and Toad (best card site ever, the malices for EX are 33¢ each) think about the combo- zombie world, malice doll, ectoplasmer, soul absorbing bone tower

If I can manage to find a mystical space typhoon (everybody uses every last one of them), I'll get it, as for allure of darkness, I don't think Ive seen anyone with that yet.

I used to follow the same philosophy, until I started running zombies. Smaller decks workout amazingly well, especially with zombies. I run a zombie swarm/removal deck, and I have to say, I am almost unbeatable. I strongly urge you to add Royal Oppression. It will most likely hurt your special summon rate, but your opponent is also paying for it. I will post a deck list as soon as possible.

And the deck needs a lot of tweaking. (Plague Wolf? You must mean Plague Spreader Zombie.)

A Mirror Force would be good, too. (Tutan Mask is a no-no)

Why is Helios here? You're not running Macro anyway, unless you're hoping the x3 Book of Life would be enough to power it up? Also, Royal Oppression is counter productive against your own Book of Life. Another Raigeki Break and a Solemn Judgment, or two Bribes.

Zombie Tiger and Decayed Commander must be replaced with Mezuki.

I would very much appreciate it if I could come across Mirror force, when I used to play(years ago) the card was rather hard to get a hold of, now it's just a matter of finding someone willing to trade for it. Sadly, that doesn't happen that often.

Also, you're right screw royal oppression, that'd get me killed.

I'd much rather have more infinite dismissals and chain energies. At least those do little to nothing against me.

As a general question, if you summon Archfiend Zombie-Skull and Doomkaiser Dragon (or assault mode), when Doomkaiser dies do his special summons die as well, since the AZS prevents zombies from being killed by any card effect?

Life on earth will end for all concieved
and prove to be only a breath,
a mist, a womb for whats to come
how soon forever arrives.
Breaks your knees and leaves you so
the sun can burn you up
and wear you out
Its an angry summer.

True, Royal is a counter to my recoveries, by it doesn't come for free. And I run Helios for more than just Book of Life. Half of my deck is dedicated to removal, Bottomless Trap Hole and Chaos Sorcerer, also as fodder for Chaos Sorcerer's summon cost. I, like the OP, am limited by cost, so getting Mezuki or plaguespreader, Solemn, even Bribe is kinda hard. I am making a step in the right direction as I will be getting an Il Blud pretty soon. I still don't understand how Tutan mask is bad. Could somebody please elaborate?
