Everybody has a favorite race and class they usually play as when playing a tabletop RPG. What's yours?

My personal favorite is Human Fighter. I know thats nothing too exciting or unique, but its simple, effective for smashing face and most importantly- FUN.
My favorite race is a three way tie between human, elan, and synod in D&D 3.5. Favorite class is definitely Psion, or Erudite.
I'm usually all over the place, I like playing as things I haven't before. My favorite would have to be a good ol' elf/wizard though.
Not everyone does. Not everyone has played enough games of D&D to have got around to actually playing any even vaguely similar characters and some people prefer variety and try to switch things up no matter how many times they play.

Also, some people define their preferences by things other than race or class.

I have a fondness for the battlefield control role, for example, but I can execute that as an Anthropomorphic Bat Cleric or a Water Halfling Focused Conjurer or a Mongrelfolk Dragonfire Adept or a number of other setups.

I also like nonstandard melee configurations, for example: Half Orc Cleric with Hunger and Strength domains, Ranger or Mystic Ranger with the Wildshape ACF and the Shapeshift Druid ACF.

This is all 3.5 D&D.

The campaign I'm currently playing is a homebrew system with echoes of 1st edition and not nearly so many character design options. However I have still not yet played the same class or race twice. So far I've had a Hobbit thief, a Dwarven Fighter/Wizard and a Human Fighter/Cleric.

I usually play the human cleric or barbarian, depending on how the party is built. Recently, I've started playing a fighter. Fun stuff.

Dang, I guess this is a fighter thread.
My favorite character I ever played was an fighter specializing in two-handed weaponry with extensive falchion training. That dude kicked some pretty serious a**.
I actually go with fighter too, now that I think of it. Well, mostly melee classes, that is, like monks, knights, barbarians...even my sorcerer did some melee action at one point (but then, I was a newbie at that time).

I'm usually a human though but I wanna try something different for a change...a dwarf, maybe.
Typically elven or resembling elves...and usually a mage, rogue, or some combination thereof.

At least, for D&D.

For W:tA, Galliard and Theurge are pretty high up, though I go from Red Talons to Fianna to Silent Striders to Bone Gnawers and even a Glass Walker or two.

For Maid, I'll play just about any, but boyish is the one I find the hardest to play.

Fairy's Tale I prefer the Pixies.
I usually prefer elves or half elves, and I prefer to play a hospatiler paladin or cleric... I prefer a supporting role to a combat one.
Half-elf Hexblade. I've played just about everything though, I don't like to play the same character every game it starts to feel repetitive.
Traditionally I like humans over most other races. I do enjoy my monster races and non-human humanoids [ie: elves and such], but I tend to prefer humans.

Class-wise? Whatever I fancy that day.

I'm the sort that it does depend on my mood, but I do have some staples:

The raging holy man. In DnD terms, a Cleric that acts like a Barbarian.
The classical duelist. This one's Japanese-style, so your classic Blue Oni Iaijutsu master(TVTropes warning!).
The Heavy. In medieval games, it's Mister Clanky with a great sword. In modern games, it's Mister Clanky with a minigun or equivalent.
The Sniper. Oh, I have fun with this one. Give me an anti-materiel rifle and a tall building and I'm happy.
The Face. I play with this one a lot. Some of my faces are magical. Some are backstabbers. Others are just faces.
Demons. Not as a race, more as a theme. Demon-summoner, Demon-possessed, Demon-aspect, Demon-slayer, what have you. I did once play a Faustian-type devil, though.

I have others too, but those are the main ones.
Orcs and goblins. Ironically my favorite class is Wizard and shadow caster.
