Welcome to Gaia! ::

It's story time :'D
Well, I play casual Magic with a bunch of friends, and, to be completely honest, my best buddy of nearly ten years is my least favorite person to play with. He's completely rude, doesn't understand what casual means, will stomp over rules on his turn and turn them on you on your own. He likes to state fake rulings, then turn on you when you call him out on it, and he will spend three hours online looking for the rule that will make him right, which he is very rarely. It's hard to play with him, and we try to be lax, but he makes it really hard for us.

I'm surprised I actually got a story. :'D
Thank you for the story! But why don't you play his game o.O
And make up your own fake rulings?

No problem. Haha. I lurk these forums often, and I'm surprised to actually find someone online for once.
Well, I have thought about working him down, since I'm working on becoming a judge, and pelting him with the tiniest rules and such, but we're not playing in tournament, so we take it easy, and if we make it harsh for him, then we all get harsh in game with each other, and things get less fun. We just all play and turn him into the enemy in multiplayer games.
For example, he likes to say that his Redirect can be played on a creature spell and redirect it to his side of the field, but we've shown him the oracle ruling multiple times that it only affects spells that specify a target.

You could make a deck and write in the margins and state: "No Derperton, you cannot use this card that way."
Altering cards can be fun

Haha. It would be fun to watch his face, but it would never really help. He's just too stubborn and when he builds a deck with that card doing that thing, then it does it no matter what. I splashed a fireball in a mono green deck, just for laughs and added damage, and used a Birds of Paradise to make the necessary red mana. When I used it to kill him, he got mad and declared that my Birds couldn't be used, when it clearly read it on the card.

Then I am out of advice XD
Me and my friends do that (I play YGO and MTG) and when one of us has COMPLETE AND UTTER FIELD HATRED the one in the rough spot just poker faces and says "no"
As in "I refuse you're move on the grounds that this sucks for me" and it usually gets a cheap laugh outta the group.

Oh, it's fine. Haha.
No, that's cool, as long as the person is joking, but he does it every turn. It's terrible.

I'm kidding, don't do that .____________.
I don't think card players need murder on the list of why I dislike being one

Haha. Why would you dislike it? I enjoy it quite a lot.
Your average MtG Grinder. I've done this myself, but the total being an a*****e just because it seems "pro" just gets on my nerves. Also the people who try to bully wins from people piss me off.

My main reason for disliking my card playing is the fault of the competitive community inside each game and the players who will bash on the other card games.

The competitive community problem lies in that everytime I see or throw down with one they proceed to suck the fun out of the game with a deck that either destroys in a few turns or stall/mill deck. Not the kind of deck where you have a closed ammount of time before you lose, but the kind that drags the game out forever and leaves you completely locked down making the rest of the game, after their field set-up is complete, boring and pointless

Bashers... People are free to dislike anything they want. However I don't think that gives them the right to talk badly about anothers fun having. At a con whilst my hands were in the dance of a YGO smack down an MTG proceeded to walk up and be a male jibbily-bit. They turned nice when I talked about my MTG deck and explained why I played both games, this avoided the hurt about to be brought down by my playing companion. But, I dunno. I don't think that card player had the right to insult my fun D<

That was wordy >>

Last time I had the bully for a win was last round to win and in at a TCG Qualifier. Before game one, he was like "I've been on the Pro Tour, I'll win." Coolstory, bro. Roll him up game one. Turns to his friend, claims how unlucky he is, asks again. Turn him down, game two I get mana screwed and he still barely get it. Asks a third time, pointing out how much better he is, make the point I wanna dream crush him now. Game three goes long, win off a calicite snapper. He signs the slip and turns to his friend, pissed off. Turn in the slip, come back, and say "If you had asked nicely, I wouldn't have dream crushed you. Enjoy not playing top 8" and walked to my friends who were laughing hysterically.
