I would say instead of Safewright Quest I would say use Evolution Charm... The same cost and you can search, bring a creature back or give a creature flying.

I like the Spitmare.. That's pretty epic

Yeah, its another random revival from me. Appropriate because the deck I'm wanting to build uses Eternal Witness.

So, ages ago, someone in Japan built an Oath deck using 4 Witnesses as its creature base, and then used recursion to get one of several effects. I'm thinking less Witnesses to average a higher graveyard count, and the using a Yawgmoth's Will to pull some sort of lock or win out of the yard.

First things that come to mind are Tendrils storm and Vault/Key, but I'm not really sure that's what I want to do with the deck. Other thoughts?

Current shell:
4 Oath of Druids
2 Eternal Witness
1 Yawgmoth's Will
Plow Under, Contamination, Decaying Soil, Defense of the Heart could all be pretty fun in the deck.

But those are too slow for the environment, and Decaying Soil just doesn't fit in a deck that only runs two creatures. I'm looking for more of a combo finish, really, than a few random shots in the dark.
I think that'd be pretty effective, considering the amount of dredging Oath of Druids does. You'd almost be guaranteed threshhold since there are only two creatures. Find an effective sac engine like the Contamination or Attrition and you have recurring Eternal Witnesses, which is lockdown when you pair it up with Plow Under.

Firstly, you need a ton of mana to pull that off. Secondly, being able to stop my opponent from using more than one land a turn isn't effective in the face of Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, 5 Moxes, a Black Lotus, and Key/Vault that only requires four colorless to lock me out of the game. Or, if they're playing workshops, one workshop can drop two spheres to raise the costs of spells to unreal levels, costing up to 7 mana per Plow Under, or 5 per Witness. Oath's strength is that the mana base is "heavy" at 26 mana producers, and "standard" at 23-24. Needing nearly 1/3 in a deck that's going to spend most of its time dumping said lands in the yard? Not going to happen.

Plus, to do that in one turn requires over 10 mana - if I'm going to use Fastbond to get that out in one Oath resolution, then I'm going to use Fastbond, Crucible, Zuran Orb and any land that deals damage or causes loss of life (Barbarian Ring, Piranha Marsh), and then just win on my next turn with an arbitrary loop that costs me only 3G (plus 2B for the Will).

Problem with that being, of course, that I can't use it the turn I get it - I have to pass the turn or else the Will will cause the land to be exiled and thus unreachable.
The majority of the artifacts that you named are banned in legacy. I only play in legacy and standard. I probably wouldn't have posted in this thread to begin with if I had known you were in vintage/casual/whatever.

I would think Oath would have been the tipoff here. If not Oath, Will for sure.

I play Vintage, Legacy, and BYOS. Most decks here fit those formats.

Weird. I didn't realize that Oath was banned, since it's not even restricted in vintage. Though it's obvious why, what with all the boring dredge decks floating around.

Oath and Drain both fit that bill, and I'll toss those cards around quite a bit, as I have four of each (well, five Drains, but depending on what happens in Vintage in the near future, I may or may not be trading that in part for a Vault).

Anyways, new BYOS deck idea:
M11, Alara, TS

4 Fauna Shaman
4 Bloodbraid Elf
4 Groundbreaker
4 Uktabi Drake
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Reckless Wurm

4 Lightning Bolt
3 Rift Bolt
4 Harmonize
1 Garruk
1 Sarkhan Vol

Lands - 24
4 R/G M10/11 dual (something crag, right?)
4 Horizon Canopy
4 Dryad Arbor
4 Gemstone Mine
Mostly forests
a few mountains

SB base
3 Tormod's Crypt
3 Krosan Grip
2 Stormbind
more

The idea is to use Fauna Shaman into Bloodbraid Elf, who can cascade into one of the hasters or a Goyf (which should be decent size). Hopefully, a few turns should see this deck win, and with Harmonize to refresh the hand and BBE to create additional CE, I'm hoping that won't be too hard.

Suggestions?

(If you want to make this a Legacy deck, I can work with that, too.)

Edit: 4 Gemstone Mine added - because that 'goyf needs love. Also, I there's not too many good enchantments/artifacts that would make it phenomenal.

Does anyone know off the top of their head if Tolarian Winds works well with tricolor Madness/Flashback?
I might run it, depending on the build
Vintage style, RUG for colors. I'm not sure on the creature/spell mix just yet. I'm just wanting to know if it makes a good outlet.
It's a pretty good one, I'd run it.

I could see it working amazingly with Madness. Although I don't know if RUG would be the colors I'd run.

BUG seems to be stronger, madness-wise, and Red's flashback costs seem to be rather expensive.

B doesn't have a 3 damage spell - for Jace, Trygons, Confidants - in its Madness. Red does.

Fiery Temper, I take it?
But most Flashback cards seem expensive outside of their normal casting costs.
