Welcome to Gaia! ::

I've found that table top gamers (even myself) tend to be superstitious when it comes to their dice, cards, and playing pieces.

Sometimes people will sit in a gaming shop for hours just looking for that particularly perfect dice.

When gaming I've run into people that don't want others touching their dice, afraid that it'll rub off the luck or something. (granted this is usually joking)

Probably the strangest was running into someone that used masking tape to make a square of where he was going to be putting his cards and no one was suppose to cross into it.

So when you go to play, is no one allowed to touch your dice?

Just curious about the superstitions of other gamers and silly things you have run into.
My group and I don't have a problem letting each other use our own die. We do joke though, about things like rubbing the luck off.

Well that's always the danger, let someone else use your d20 and they 'use' up the good rolls. xd
It's referred to as "Manifest Dicetiny" wink

That sounds fancy, I'm so using that term now. xD
XD well ill explain it. see, our DM always ends up having taken all of our dice by the end of the session xD so we draw comparison between our DM and the movement west that colonial americans did in early american history x] they believe the land was their god given right.../destiny...and so the all dice belong to teh DM etc etc manifest destiny manifest dicetiny its abad joke but those are my favorite biggrin

Hehe...>.> why is your DM stealing all your dice though?
he misplaces his or needs more

Ah not as nefarious as I could imagine. xd
I've known a few. One of my friends won't roll his favorite dice unless they've sat in his wife's bosoms for a few minutes to get warm. I'm sure that's more a joke relating to her extraordinarily sized chest.

I have another who won't roll a die that doesn't roll over 15 the first time he rolls it.

I've known few superstitious with cards, but I certainly know many who just don't like other peoples grubby, filthy paws on their "Mint Conditioned Foil".

>.> I'm guilty of the dice rolling thing. I won't buy dice that don't roll high the first time I roll them.

I don't mind people using my normal dice.
However, I have 9 green dice that are kept seperate from all the other dice and may only ever be rolled by me for game-changing situations.

>_> They rarely ever actually save me, but it feels good to have these dice reserved for such a task.

I have four green d6's that I use to roll up character stats. I just like them a lot they are slightly larger then other d6's and have slightly rounded corners so I feel like they roll better.

>.> It's all in the green dice.
I have my prized dice.
My critical di that rolls 20's more frequently than 1's. Plus it rolls high over low.
I have a few rules at the game table:

If I am in the middle of a game, my stuff is off limits. ALL OF IT. No, you may not see my hand, deck, or graveyard unless you are my opponent. No, my trade binder is off limits. No, my backpack stays where it is. Talk to me later.

You may use any of my dice except my Purple/Green Geminis, those are mine. I'd rather you not roll the matching D6s seperately, those are character generators, yes you may use them, no they are not cooked.

If I am not in a game, ASK before you touch anything that belongs to me. I don't care if you're my 'friend' my stuff is my stuff. Ask first.

Most of these rules are just common decency. I only ask to see cards in other people's games if I'm judging OR they have made it clear they don't mind. I never touch another players dice without permission, and in game I always ask before touching another card.
