Welcome to Gaia! ::

I've started playing Magic the Gathering again, and I can't seem to find a place to get cheap magic cards, I'm also looking to play standard set.

Here is what I found:
Magic the Gathering

Troll and toad, TCGplayer, and Channlefireball have some of the most competitive rates. Starcitygames is on the high side but has virtually everything you could want. Ebays a good place if you like to snipe. I advise buying from shops... even if the pricing isn't 100% optimal keeping them open gives you a place to play.
If you live near Washington State, Card Kingdom is a great place. It's based out of Seattle.

Best way to get a lot of magic cards for cheap is to know people.

Magic players tend to have lots of random cards they don't want/don't care about. They're more than likely to give this to a novice for free or for a slight fee.

2nd best option is garage sales. Go around and see. Might be surprised.

3rd is Craigslist or a similar site. Be careful. This is the level where scams can and do happen. Remember that for bulk cards, you are looking for a 5k box (has 5 rows and is large) for about $30.
